For a security company advertised in good standing, this company sucks.! It's business practices are highly suspect. The company opened a line of credit under my name with another bank with out my signed consent. So when I returned some equipment. They took my refund and applied it to this line of credit that they had fraudulently opened with their preferred bank. And instead of it being listed as a credit, it was posted as a debit.The bank then starts to charge me for what is rightfully my refund!!! It takes 12 weeks approximately of hours on the phone almost daily.Going back-and-forth from the bank to the company to clear this accounting error. It appears that they used my refund to open a line of credit with this bank. This action by their own accounting department went against their standard operating procedure. My refund was to be processed through the method I had originally used to pay for the equipment. And I paid for the equipment at the time of installation with a credit card. This error could have been excused once it was resolved. It was resolved in May 2022 however January 2023, I was again charged for the refunded amount. And my monitoring fees were increased by $20.!!! When I asked for a copy of my contract, my alleged signature was unrecognizable, not to mention illegible. It was essentially just 3 humps and a wiggle.!? When I tried to get the company to keep their word and honor my lower monitor fee. They said that they would have to check with their id verification department as to whether my signature was legit! That's a joke. And if the increased monitoring fee had been mutually agreed upon. DON'T TRUST THEM!!For a home security firm to have such nefarious accounting practices is scary. Some higher agency should hold them accountable. Becareful with this company. They do tell the truth. If you go into a 60 month contract with them and it says they will repair or replace equipment it's not true. When our panel had a issue and would not except data on key pad it had to be repaired or replaced . They said it was not made any more and we had to upgrade. After a argument on charge they replace at no charge we thought. After closing on sale of house they told us we had to pay for panel. We paid in full to close the account. If I could give zero stars I would. My husband and I had this service for about 2 years. While we had the service it was "okay" nothing I would boast about. Did what we needed I guess. Had a couple problems with the glass break alarm going off for no real reason (loud door slam, dropping a cup in the kitchen). And the outdoor camera would go in and out and miss movement happening in our back yard. There were multiple time we thought about canceling and it was just such a hassle with customer service so we never did. Then we moved and boy was that the worst experience ever! They were willing to transfer our equipment, but I was going to cost a stupid amount of money. There was a point in our move that we tried to transfer services but the technician never showed and rescheduling was just ridiculous. Anyhow so after the failed attempt to transfer we just wanted to cancel. Sounds fine and dandy right?! WRONG! WORST PROCESS EVER. I called and they told me that I needed to pay out the remaining balance. Cool. Cost me thousands. Cool. We paid the money and thought that was that, Vivint was out of our lives for good. WRONG AGAIN! 6 months later we get a call from a collections company saying we owe them over $600 for inadequately canceling our account. So I jumped through all 15 hoops Vivint made me jump through, being transferred to person after person, I guess in their shitty attempt to make me give up, I didn't, and after all that, they tell me that I did not cancel my account with written notice and that they can't just take verbal cancellation. So they can verbally take all your money no problem but when you want to cancel their service my word isn't good enough. Start by advising you NOT TO SIGN THE 5 YEAR CONTRACT. We were suckered into this alarm/camera service in a contract that we had no idea we couldn't cancel out of without making a payment for the full 5 years (over $6000). What a sham, in more ways than just that. In fact we are gearing up to file a small claims suit to cancel out of the contract as Vivint on my phone logs all the "errors" and weve been collecting the screenshots in order to show this product consistently doesn't work nor gets fixed without bribe (tech fee). First, the service breaks down almost every month (its one thing or another). The garage sensor failed, the user panel failed and the cameras kept going off line. Each time, we were CHARGED for a service technician ($35) to fix a FAULTY equipment item. The techs found the product wasn't working right, replaced it and wouldn't you think that since their product failed it would be free...it wasn't. I even called to ask to have it removed due to it being faulty product, the kid refused. Second, the techs would say our internet isn't good enough to keep the cameras online. Guess what we did, we upped our speed and got powerful routers. Guess what? cameras still go offline. Power cycles don't work neither does rebooting the user panel which is a 20minute endeavor each time including the multiple fails to get it reconnected to the wireless network again. Third, the doorbell barely tells us there is activity. So we put it up to ultra sensitivity and it gets the shade from the sun and trees, but it wont get half the guests that come up and actually ring the damn doorbell, let alone the camera pick them up. Fourth, we are stuck for another 3 years in this shit show. The only thing worth the service is the alarms appear to work well, but since the cameras don't seem to be staying active we pretty much feel the alarms are probably going soft as well. There is no confidence in the product, that's for sure. Lastly, we can barely access the spacemonkey which is the hard drive your videos get saved to. We also cant view our bills online. My bill says $220 is due, but the Invoice line says $114 due, but their website DOESNT WORK EITHER so I cant view the fucking bills!!!!! Wonder why? Of course I cant bother to call them to find out or get a copy of my bill for fear I will be charged for the extra effort they have to do to paper mail me a statement. Probably even charge me to lick the stamp. THIS IS WHY THEY SIGN YOU TO A 5 YEAR CONTRACT, ATD DOESNT DO THAT! This is why, so don't sign, don't sign, DONT SIGN. This company is unreliable, they deserve 0 stars bit that is not an option. I have been loyal customer since 2012 and for the last 2 years had had problems with false alarms. I tried to get them to fix it but they did nothing to do so. I decided to cancel my account and go with ADT because after many warnings I was going to do so they did nothing. I am still being billed for a monitoring system that is not installed and after waiting on hold for over an hour was told the account was.cancelled and there was nothing they do to refund even part of the amount I highly recommend to stay away from this horrible company! I have been fighting with Vivint for 6th months now. Their sales/installation rep forged a signature and said he installed equipment in our home. We found out they have taken over $6,000 from us without our consent. Vivint had tech come to our house who confirmed we never had equipment or service from them. Their monitoring department even said there was never any service at our location. I agreed to a much lower amount to be re-reimbursed for the money we feel they stole from us, just to get this over with. We have not received the payment and the account resolutions representative that said he would have this taken care of, has been ignoring us for several months. I have emails from Vivint to prove all of this. I'm at a loss. I don't feel as we should give up the fight, but think they are just lying to us and will never give us any of the money they took from us and promised we would be re-reimbursed for. They should be ashamed for taking advantage of and treating people in this manor! I have contacted the company via chat, phone, emails to the customer support department, account resolution department, and the chat person's email and a specific account resolution reps email. I don't understand why this company has promised to return part of the money they took, yet they have not done it nor are they returning my attempts to contact them. I have in writing, from the chat and account resolution reps where they state they will have the money sent to us. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! They lie, cheat and steal. UPDATE: I guess they dont read very well, because their response to this post was to contact them via chat, which I mentioned in the review that I already did. I have had nothing but horrible experiences with Vivant. The bad ratings they have across all social media platforms are well earned from what I have experienced. Let me tell you my horror story. I had Vivant security and cameras for a few years. The service is spotty at best and most of the time you could not access the cameras remotely. Obviously no system is going to work perfectly at all times but the customer service when there were issues was a problem. They would expect you to spend hours on the phone troubleshooting their system before they would send someone out to take a look at it. After all that the true horror came when I sold my home. I had about a year left of the contract. They will tell you there is no contract but that is never true. I called in and paid off all the equipment so the new owners could take over they system. I set everything up so that once the home sold the new owner would just have to call in and complete the transfer. I spoke to Vivant several times and I was assured they would be no issues. Well, when the new owner called in they rolled out the red carpet and talked them into signing a new contract using the equipment that I paid off. That's fine, I have no problem with them trying to make more money. The problem is that once they upsold them they just ignored my account and left it open. Now I keep getting phone calls from Vivant demanding that I pay them $800 to close my account. So they got a brand new account at my old address and still want me to either pay the monthly fee until my original contact is up or pay them the early termination fee. I have tried repeatedly to contact a supervisor and every time I sit on the phone for over an hour while they wait for a manager to be available. After an hour or two they say they will have a super or manager call me back. It's been 4 months and I have not received one call from a supervisor. I do still get the daily call from billing asking me to to pay the monthly fee. I explain the situation every time and the cycle starts all over again. This is easily the worst operated company in modern history. Save yourselves the aggravation and go with a more established service. Whatever savings you think you'll make - will easily be given up two-fold in time wasted on the phone and on chat. Here are the low lights: - The User Interface (Dashboard) is limited. This means that you'll need to get on the phone or chat to resolve issues, make changes, etc... and you'll easily burn 30 - 90 minutes for simple requests like - change the Emergency Contact Telephone Number... which - you should be able to do online in 2019! - Support/Assistance - really - the.worst. HR is clearly not out to hire anyone worth hiring. After the hard sell - you're on your own. We have a corporate account and it's hilarious. No support from our salesperson - we wait in the queue just like everyone else. If you call - be ready to sit on the phone for a minimum of 30 minutes. Techs will seldom understand your request (however simple) and don't be surprised if you're transferred around. We're going to bite the bullet and payout or early termination fee and GTFO. read more

After 3 years of service, I opted to go with another company when it was pointed out to me how much money I was wasting as well as out of date equipment. I requested a cancellation on 12/21 and was told to email my request in, as calling wasn't enough. I received a confirmation email from Vivint stating it would take 2-3 business days to take effect. Fast forward a week and my account was debited for the next month's renewal. After being questioned on the phone by the CSR about leaving, which is disgusting in itself, I was told that it take THIRTY days for the cancellation to take effect. HORRIBLE customer service/sales tactic. We were approached, IN OUR HOUSE, by a door to door salesman by the name of "john" no last name given claiming to be a manager. To be honest, we were genuinely interested and I requested he come back when he initially came so that I could talk to my husband. When he came back the mood soured after an aggressive campaign which led him telling us that "he shouldn't have come back but only did b/c he saw an extra car and that we were a waste of time" he avoided eye contact and told us that we are refusing to sign with them. I told him he was putting words in my mouth and that this was door to door - we have a company that we are with and we just need a day to make sense of things and think about it. He shook his head and kept telling us how our decision made little sense. I told him that all interest we had with the company went out the window if this was his initial encounter to which he shrugged and was asked to leave. It's unfortunate that my neighbors (which he kept using by name) were tricked into this. SCAMMERS!!!! -5 Stars if they gave me the option!!! I am so pissed off! I discovered Vivint has been over billing me for two years! Eventhough the proof is there, they continue to come up with excuses for the additional charges. On top of that, I had recently sold my house and relocated ti a different state. I called to inform Vivint that I no longer needed services and I was leaving the equipment so the new owner could sign up to use it,if they desired to do so. The vivint I started with and I was one of Houston's first customers and the vivint that I have today is like going from 100 to 0. I have never endured such treatment with a business in all my life. It was so bad I started reading because I could see there was a huge change in the last couple of years. These call centers they use some of the reps are clueless and what you have to endure it UNACCEPTABLE I went for several hours doing the same thing over and over and over I finally said STOP IT!...I find out the backdoor lock that they installed was defective and the serviceman replaced it but in the meantime they put me into a new contract I just found that out last night how can someone put you into a new contract without approval and signature? Again last evening I had trouble with the doorbell camera called in lady from Colombia helped me not only did the doorbell camera quit working but the backdoor lock and my app stopped working we resolved everything in time everything was working she said she would reboot my system but I could hang up....so before I went to bed I looked on my phone the camera is offline again....just like it was to begin with so I call again....this time I get another person that it is clueless....after talking for awhile and I can tell he's looking at a script or something he tells me to go out to the breaker and turn it off and on....I tell him forget it....there is nothing wrong with the breaker it is in the doorbell.....I am getting power ..... It is the most frustrating thing in the world then I ask for someone in the US I get this guy Sage he says he completely understands that my doorbell is obsolete it will be 249.99 with a 99.00 service fee....I SAID OH NO! then I ask so then will you up my monthly charge and put me under a new contract? I said forget it....I CANNOT believe the Vivint I started with and the VIVINT in the last couple of years light years apart.... Pretty crazy, they signed my mother up for a contract for an alarm system. Turned out, do to her age and Alzheimers she is unable to learn the system. I have had nothing but terrible experiences with Vivint's alarm system and their customer service. They consistently fail to return phone calls when they promise to, and their representatives have lied to me about the terms of my contract. I would never recommend this company to anyone. When I purchased my system in 2018 I was told when I moved to leave my equipment and that they would come install new equipment at new charge. What they left out was you would have to refinance the new equipment and sign another 60 month contract. When I address this issue with a supervisor they said they would pull the tapes and call me back. I never received a call back and after calling for a week in a row and finally getting in contact with the supervisor she disconnected the call with me before I could speak with her. So obviously they reviewed the call, heard my version of the story was correct and didn't want to own up to the mistake. Cameras have gone offline a couple of times, and having to get a tech out this week. Equipment is cheap and shoddy. Online/call-in support is 100% worthless -- people reading from screens. The home techs are actually pretty good. Oh -- one of the techs told me they not only recycle refurbished equipment (which they pass as new), they are told to use those first. Holy molly these guys suck. What was I thinking 5 year contract! First of all I got the thermostat package where you can remotely control thermostats. The problem is they never worked. They use something called Z-Wave 1990's technology. I recently took them all out and put in some Honeywell WiFi thermostats they work like a charm. I'm unable to sleep well right now due to my Vivint Security System. I called yesterday because my door didn't lock as programmed and the alarm didn't disable when I returned and entered my door code. I was told they're have "issues" that have to do with the door locks. I'll not even be notified when they're corrected. So, is the system going to unlock my doors while I'm sleeping? Today I intend to call again to have them remove the door locks from the panel. I'll simply use my key to lock and unlock my doors. The first rep was a young female who "like" spoke as if we were in high school. I "like" thanked her, said goodbye and called back. The second rep explained the issue, but offered no compensation for this inconvenience and very little, if any, comfort. I'll be glad when this contract ends so I can use a good company. DO NOT BUY FROM VIVINT. Never get to talk to a live person when there is a problem. Been trying to resolve a problem for OVER a month. My thermostat began having issues in November. There is NO live person to communicate with -- you must use chat. My HVAC works fine, but when the thermostat went on the fritz, I could not use the air or heat. I even had to pay for an electrician to come, only to be told my system works properly and it is an ISSUE WITH VIVINT. I have spent weeks waiting for a new thermostat--then had to install it myself-spent hours on chat trying to get assistance, and spent time waiting for technicians. Even had a technician come out. Tried to turn on my heat this morning and it won't work. Chatted on December 12th because it still will not work and was informed I would have to wait several days before they could get a Technician over. All while my HVAC works fine -- but because of VIVINT I have no heat or air conditioning, Please DO NOT USE THEIR PRODUCTS. The service and system are great although a little higher than ADT. They substituted indoor cameras for outdoor ones because they were on back order. What a mistake. They're worthless. When I called them on it they pretty much told me to f**k off and if I wanted the outdoor cameras that it's cost 250 per camera for the install. So much for their free installation of all your equipment advertisement. Now I'm in a contract with them and they pretty much don't care about anything as long as there is a contract. When my contract is finished I'm switching back to ADT. At least with them I knew the service wasn't that good but they didn't pretend that it was anything more than mediocre anyway. Can I give less than one star?!!! WARNING!!! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! All I have to say is these people are LIARS!!! Do not let them come into your home. They are scam artists and LIARS!!! We were currently in a contract and he said that the cancellation fee was only about 75% of the remaining contract. That wouldn't be too bad. When I questioned him more about it he "searched" on his phone for what he said was their cancellation policy and said that my alarm company showed they would only charge 75% to break contract. I should have asked him to show me. When I went to cancel with my alarm company I was told it was the full amount for the remainder of my contract!!! WARNING#1 We were ready for them to install, they said the next available install was 10pm! Seriously? Can't we schedule for another day that's more convenient for us other than when we should be sleeping? They said no because they would need to charge us an installation fee if they came back another day. They were here until after 130am!! The sales person called back later apologizing saying he didn't realize how long it would take. LIAR! He knew exactly how long it would take to install. WARNING#2 There has not been a day pass where we haven't had any difficulty with the system. The cameras are always offline, the doorbell rings when someone approaches the front door, the notifications are going crazy on our phones, the sensors and cameras are going off simultaneously in all locations... When we called to say this is ridiculous, we were told that we would be given a full refund if they can't correct the problem. Isn't it funny now that I can't find that person any where in the company now? As if he's disappeared. WARNING#3 I could go on and on. I am a new customer with Vivint. First off, the salesman on the phone did not tell me about the third party credit application and the fact it will take 4 or 5 years to pay off. Also, the cancellation window is only 3 days. The installation was quick and there were no problems. After a few days, one of the sensors on the back door fell on the floor. The tape on the back was bad and I couldn't get it to stick on the door. I called and they had me put more double sided tape. So far so good, plus they credited $15 on my account. Thanks. A few days later, the motion detector fell to the floor and broke into pieces. I had to call and they are sending a new one. I asked if they are sending bolts this time and they said yes so we will see how that goes. Apparently the tape they use one their sensors is crap. With the amount you're paying for the equipment, you would think the sensors/detectors would be top notch. Also, every time you log in and chat or call, they send these emails about sending referrals. With the way I feel right now, stop asking. I will not. All in all, I will not recommend this company to anyone right now until they straighten out their act. When I called to cancel with my previous alarm company, they actually warned me about Vivint but I assumed they were bitter because I was leaving them. Poor customer service, gave me the run around for weeks about a past due balance issue. Upon upgrading my equipment which was offered not asked for. Tech came and explained to me that my bill would only increase 5$ a month, which sounded great who wouldn't go for it. Signed paperwork and had everything installed, no issue for a couple months until I received a notification about a past due balance which was outrageous. Come to find out it was for the equipment after going back and forth giving me the run around for about a month. This person would transfer me to that person and back to another, it was so frustrating. So my credit line did not have enough open credit to add the upgraded equipment, which makes sense because I had not had my current equipment long. My issue was why wasn't that worked out before I agreed to the new equipment and had everything installed. So now I'm left with an outrageous bill that I could of lived without had I kept the original equipment. They would not allow me to return the upgraded equipment nor would they work with me on the extremely high balance. I told them I simply could not afford to pay that amount and would have to cancel my services. They did absolutely nothing to keep me as a customer, I would not recommend them to anyone. Last night, after one of Vivint's techs came out to fix the indoor camera (which he was unable to do; he ended up replacing it), he somehow did something to the kitchen glass break while testing the sensors. Last night I spent a whopping 5 hours on the phone with both the Loyalty Department and Tech Support to try to get this problem resolved. Total fail. I was transferred a total of 5 times and each time had to explain the problem from the get-go. Very, very frustrating. An hour into the call and I get a totally new person. Oh, and after waiting for 40 minutes on the first phone, the call got disconnected! Great customer service (sarcasm intended). Their guy created the problem which didn't exist before he came out. Their earliest appointment to get another tech out is over 2 weeks away. Highly recommend you look into some other alarm company if you want to retain your sanity. read more

Completely bogus game of semantics to fraudulent extort money twice. Vivint Claims a "new account" was opened at the same address and the old account was not "converted". Exact same result. Vivint reused the old equipment for the new account holder but want to pretend I still owe them because the account wasn't converted. read more

One other recommendation for anyone considering Vivint- I would recommend that you check out their ratings on the Better Business Bureau site- some items I saw on this site when I checked on 6/8 were: * Over 3500 customer complaints against this business listed on the BBB wesbsite, of these, over 2200 were with products and service *41 out of 45 customer reviews were listed as "negative" *Government actions in Ohio, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Kansas that involved Vivint are detailed on the site- any prospective buyer should read the particulars. I am going to file a BBB complaint this week and would suggest that others do the same if they have similar experiences. In the "government action" section, there are details of various legal proceedings that are apparently the best way to get Vivint's attention. It is helpful for a prospective buyer to see how Ohio, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Kansas dealt with customer complaints. In addition, a consumer complaint can be filed with the Texas Attorney General's office if you have a similar situation. To be fair, someone emailed me today, asking for my phone number and phone password, so I asked them to call me back. I dont think it is a good idea to email your phone password for your home alarm system to anyone, so i requested a call back. read more

I wish I had never signed a 5 year contract for a less expensive rate through Vivint. We currently have the doorbell camera, the temperature regulator, and the door lock. I am going to have my lawyer look over this contract to see if there is any way I can get out of it! The product is crap! There are constant issues with their equipment. I currently have 3 problems being worked on... that is just this week! I am so tired of being on the phone with them trying to troubleshoot the problems. Not only am I paying for services that I am not currently receiving, but I am paying an equipment loan to CitizenOne for products THAT DON"T WORK!!!! I have no issues with the employees there. I have never had a bad technician or customer service representative. Please learn from my mistake and never purchase through Vivint. read more
