When my husband and I bought our first home we knew we wanted home security asap. We researched all the top companies and couldn't find anything we liked. There was never one company that stood out from the rest. There were either very high installation fees or DYI installation with cheap products and always very mixed reviews. I was starting to get pretty desperate but luckily stumbled across Home Star Protection on yelp. I never thought I would rave about an alarm system but can't stop telling everyone we know how great Home Star Protection is. Tim was great at explaining everything and only sold us what we absolutely needed. Having that initial consultation really sold us on the company. Jes was very professional throughout the installation process and took his time reviewing the entire system to us. I love that they use the current system your house already has and just upgrade it as needed. I feel so secure having this system. The alarm.com app and mymoni.com are very easy to use and offer a lot of great options. It's nice to know there are still good companies out there that won't try to take advantage of their customers. You will not regret choosing this company. Thank you so much Home Star!! read more

The True Protection alarm system gives me a sense of safety and security in my home.  The alarm system is just as safe as the burglar bars that were on my windows and doors before the new windows were installed which on the same day the alarm was installed. Alonse G installed my alarm system and I was really pleased.  He is indeed a professional subject matter expert.  Ask for him. I will add that the entire experience was rough on the sales side and the customer service side but, I am happy with the the end result.  On customer service I hope that Chris mailed the signs--I'm still waiting--it's been 10 days. Four stars for alarm system and installer! read more

We had Jake as our technician and appreciated the work he did with installing our entire security package. He was respectful of our time and had to get the work done in two trips but he gave it special attention and care as he likely would have for his own home. read more

The worst security company to deal with. Chris, who I dealt with wasn't helpful at all and referred me to Brinks instead. No wonder they have bad reviews consistently on Google. read more

While researching alarm companies for our new home in the Houston area, I found that this company was the most honest from the very beginning. They were willing to alter or build a system based on our needs. They were the only ones that would send a complete breakdown of what we would be getting in an email. If they won't put it in writing, then they are probably just blowing smoke. The install happened quickly and was done neatly. Have not had any problems to date. Would definitely recommend! read more

Responsive and friendly. They answered all of my questions and installed with ease. Quick and effortless. Thanks!

Great local provider! They were quick to respond, gave us everything we needed for a great price and have checked in with us since the service was installed to make sure the service is good. Bryan in particular has been super helpful from the start and has made choosing True Protection an easy choice. I definitely recommend them and would use them again in the future. read more

Needed to fix existing system in my newly bought home and contacted this company. They were quick to follow up with me but the only thing thet cared was to sell me monthly subscription with 3 years contract. Asked them to come and fix exsting old system in return of a service fee they said they can't. Anyways all good, using Ring now and I am happy with it. These kind of companies should act smarter if they want to stay in business. read more

Such a great experience from the beginning to the set up! Landon was very patient with explaining everything and gave us the best quote we got in comparison with other providers. The set up was quick and technician went through with clear explanation and addressed all our concerns. The professionalism and the price cannot beat the True Protection! Thank you so much! read more

So, this installation job was absolute trash. Among the problems, 1) he ran the UTP cabling(not UV rated) in the gutters exposed to the sun and debris that may wash down, 2) no drip loop was used causing rain water run into the home, and 3) two different cameras models were installed. Not mention that he pulled up shingles to run the cabling underneath! Ended up reinstalling everything properly. read more

What a turnaround! This company's new management team and their positive approach to customer service have turned me from skeptic to long-term customer in a relatively short period of time! Matthew True made a concerted effort to understand and more importantly resolve my previous concerns. He was honest about the shortcomings of the past and wanted me to know that my satisfaction as a customer was important to their business. He and Jess have proven themselves to be as good as their word and I am SUPER PLEASED with the new security system Jess recently installed in our home. Jess is an outstanding installer and explained everything he was going to do and MADE SURE I was comfortable with how everything would look once it was installed. I would give True Home Protection ten stars if I could!!! read more

Searched on google yesterday for the best local home security company & this company's name came up. I decided to leave the name & phone number on the website for a call back. Tim called back within 5 minutes, I was very impressed since I was extremely dissatisfied with the old company we had for the past 12 years (trying to get someone to come fixed faulty alarm and no one called back). Tim came by around 6pm, walked us through the system he had to offered, signed up with him right away & the new system was up & running by 10pm, talking about service!! And while we waited for the technician (Jes)to come since he was running behind from the multiple accidents on the way to our house, Tim texted me to let me know the entire time of what was going on. I really appreciated the personal service I received from him Now talking about the alarm itself. The service came with 3 different tiers, the basic ($35), the basic home automation($40) and their top of the line (over $100). First I was thinking of getting the basic but decided to go the $40 package for the ability to arm & unarm the alarm from the iPhone. Later on I'm planning to add the A/C control & front door lock to the package for a $1 more per month. I'm extremely satisfy with the value & service the I received from Tim & Jes, this is the only company I will recommend anyone who are in the market from the service. UPDATE: 9 months later Added Z wave A/C control (so you can control A/C unit from your iPhone), just awesome! Worked flawlessly since day1. Still love the service received. read more

The culture of this firm is very customer focused. I know I am not easy to deal with, and these people have been very responsive to my requests. The Owners are on tiop of things and actively involved with the company. My questions were addressed promtply and accurately. The are many companies who provide similar servcies, save yourself some grief, give these folks a chance. read more

I used Yelp to find a home security company, and 3 days later I was all hooked up! The team was great and I love the new app that controls it all from my phone. read more

True Protection - All hooked up! - Security Systems Near Me - Houston, Texas

Tim came around knocking on doors in our neighborhood. Normally I don't go for sales pitches but he seemed like an honest guy and I was pretty much fed up with ADT at that point for various reasons. HomeStar upgraded our existing equipment - Jes did a fantastic job installing everything and he gave us his number if we had any issues. I had to call him back on a couple of occasions and he always made time to set up an appointment that week and he was always professional and courteous. I wouldn't hesitate to call these guys again. read more

Very impressed by these guys. We just purchased a home and were looking for a good local company to install our first alarm system. I'm so glad I found HomeStar Protection on yelp (so am paying it forward with a review)! Tim came over the day we called him for a consult. Everything was fairly straight forward. Jes came out to do the install 2 days later (he volunteered to come the next night, as promised, even though he was ill but we told him not to worry - that's dedication)! Being security system newbies, he was kind enough to painstakingly walk us through how to use the system, which options were worth investing in, how the alarm permit works, etc. And neither Tim nor Jes seemed to mind our crazy puppies under foot. We love the system. The ability to control everything from the app is fantastic. I priced quite a few competitors before going with HomeStar Protection and they are fair and comparable. I feel good about giving my business to these local guys rather than one of the big horrible giants like ADT. Bottom line is - great customer service. I'd highly recommend. read more

Starting with my initial contact with Tim, this company was one of the most professional companies I have dealt with in my 25 years in the Woodlands. They showed up on schedule and the one time they were delayed at another house they kept me informed of the delay via text messaging and then worked late into the evening to finish my installation on the date promised. Ever time I have reached out to them they respond within hours. I would highly recommend you consider this company for you security and home automation needs. read more

Called Tim prior to move to Houston. He was great with communication, telling us what we needed. When arriving in Houston, Tim managed to take care of the entire home with timely alarm installation. Great service and knowledgable. read more

This company does not follow through on what they say. I was in a contract and wanted to move, I was told that I could not transfer my account to a apartment, so don't worry your account will be closed. Well, that's not true , I got a bill today for $900 , Don't use this company nor ADT plz go somewhere else or do it yourself, Amazon them... read more

Jes and Tim go above and beyond! Super responsive, very professional and extremely helpful. Over our year with them, they have been very consistent and patient with us in their support. The system they set up is very easy to use, with mobile access, and can be customized/updated as needs change. After a break in to our garage (which we did not seek to secure originally, not a failure in their systems), they were able to squeeze us in the very next day and make updates to our existing security system to close the gaps. Jes is very knowledgeable and took the time to answer our many questions. Definitely would recommend! read more

I had 7 cameras installed around the perimeter of my house. Image quality is great and nice to view from my tv and phone. The cameras are small, yet visible enough to deter thieves. I'm glad I chose this company to install my system. Their service rep on the phone, and the installer were great. read more

My wife and I chose this company based on the reviews and Tim and Jes proved why they had the 5 Star Rating. Fantastic customer service, Tim didn't try to sell us the world, just what he felt like we needed! We even asked some leading questions and he was very honest and reassuring. A great experience all the way around. read more

I shopped around and gathered information from several alarm companies before settling on HomeStar Protection. Tim spent a long time answering my questions both over the phone and via email. We had a final meeting at the house to make certain some of the equipment from the older system could be incorporated into the new system (it could) and to go over internet access to the system both with and without the app. Jes arrived later in the afternoon and had the new system working before dinner. A question arose the next day, and I was very happy to get a text message answer from Tim right away. Tim came by the week after the install to bring me an extra yard sign and check on things. I am really happy with the communication and follow-up I have received from HomeStar Protection. I would definitely choose them again. read more

I began doing business with this company in 2015. Since then, my account was sold to a company out of San Antonio and then subsequently to a company called Alert 360 out of Tulsa. I no longer do business with this company. Tim and and Jess are not affiliated as far as I can tell. My prior review does not stand for this business any longer. read more

My husband and I recently built a new home in the Conroe area and was in search of an alternative security company to the one we had used in the past. After much research, we decided to use HomeStar Protection. I appreciate Tim's flexibility in working with our busy schedules to meet and discuss our security needs. He took the time to explain our options without the pushy sales pitch, which is a major turnoff for me. Jes was meticulous with the installation of our new system and took the time afterwards to explain how to effectively use it. The professionalism, courtesy and thoroughness of this company is top-notch. We are very pleased with our system and highly recommend this company to anyone considering a security system! Amazing service!!! Great products! Very impressed! Would recommend to anyone looking for a good system with excellent customer service, new technology, and reasonable prices. I was looking for an updated system that included a responsive smartphone app. HomeStar Protection delivered just that and more. They updated my main panels and were able to use my existing system (door/window sensors, glass break, motion detectors, and even the fire detector). Both Tim and Jes were very patient and responsive to all my questions. I feel safe knowing this updated system is installed in my home! read more

Overall, I am VERY pleased with Homestar Protection. The people (Tim and Jess), product (2 Gig equipment, Monitronics monitoring), price, and service all far exceeded my expectations. My wife and I recently bought a new home in the Heights, and I was looking for a good security company to connect our equipment and monitor the alarm. I had been using ADT for over 3 years, and I just wasn't happy with the level of service and the price I was paying for the features I was getting. I thought there had to be a good alternative. I searched around for a local security company that looked to have updated technology (mobile app, home automation, etc), competitive prices, and good reviews. I found HomeStar Protection, and I called Tim about a week before we were set to close. He said that he'd come over to do the consultation whenever we bought the house. I called him the day we closed as we were driving to the new house, and he happened to have a window right then between appointments so he met me at the house within 20 minutes. He quickly analyzed the setup and explained to me the equipment they'd use and how it would "takeover" the current system to use all the existing sensors and nodes. He scheduled the installer to come out 2 days later and we signed up on the spot. 2 days later, Jess came out to install the new system. He hooked it all up, configured, tested, and then gave me a thorough training on how to use the new system. He also gave me his cell in case I had any questions. I would definitely recommend HomeStar to anyone needing a good security company for their alarm system. read more

These guys are FANTASTIC! Tim and Jes are professionals at every stage of the home security process. They are in it for the long haul, and are not a fly-by-night operation. You can tell that they care about their business and their customers because they take the time to ensure that you understand the system and how the monitoring works. They have made themselves accessible, and we do not hesitate to reach out to them with even the simplest of questions. In an age where "customer service" seems to have disappeared, HomeStar Protection is redefining the respect and attention that customers deserve. In the beginning stages of our Home Alarm research, we were considering FrontPoint security because they are a large company. That would have been a HUGE mistake! We have NO REGRETS in choosing Tim and Jes, and have even more confidence knowing that when we call them, we get personal service NOT an automated recording. HomeStar Protection = TOP-NOTCH! We highly recommend them to everyone we know... Several friends and family members have signed up with their service and are equally pleased! Ask them about their referral program. read more

Great company! I've had the alarm system for a couple months now and everything has been great! I never had an alarm system before so was new to the whole alarm system game. Tim and Jes were great at answering all my questions I had and made the process very simple. Very happy I went with this company. I shopped around a bit before going with them and am very happy I did. A lot easier to deal with than some of the other companies. read more

I recently moved both my home and office security systems to True Protection (from larger national companies). I have experienced great customer service. I was referred to Homestar Protection given their service, customer support, and pricing and now overwhelmingly happy with my decision to do so. Tim made a house visit to consult our needs and the various equipment configurations in our newly remodeled home. Jes showed up the next day for the installation and treated our home as if it were his own, installing all of our equipment in a meticulous manner. Jes then walked my wife and I through the various alarm modes and options as well as the different mobile app notifications we could setup. Both Tim and Jes insisted on calling/texting either one of them should we ever encounter equipment or service issues - a personal touch on an already excellent customer service experience. We plan on having exterior security cameras installed to complement our home alarm system and will have Jes install that equipment in the coming weeks. Everyone should protect their most valuable investment with a quality home security system, and we found that piece of mind in Homestar Protection. read more

We needed an upgrade to our security system, so I did my research and chose 3 to call and shop. Homestar had the best price with local service. Given all of the positive reviews, I chose to have Tim come to my home and price it out for me. After meeting him and hearing more about the company, I called him back on a Saturday. Jes came to install their system on Monday. He was very careful and tested our old system completely. I also had him install 2 thermostats and light switches to automate my home. The wiring for the switches was difficult, but he did not complain and got everything running perfectly. It's been 8 months and the system has worked flawlessly. The home automation is awesome. Jes gave me his cell and told me to call anytime if I had an problems or questions. I believe Jes and Tim are very trustworthy and know their product well. I highly recommend them. read more
