We've been customers since March 2014. Had a few glitches with the install, but they worked it out. Fast forward several years and we are moving to a city and state they don't service, so we can't transfer our contact. We own the equipment at this point as we have already fulfilled our first 3 year contract. We are only paying for the monitoring now. We tried to have our renter take over the payments and put it in her named, or open her own contract. They don't offer contracts with renters, they said, but would look into it and let me know by the end of the day. Our renter was moving in and we needed to let her know. Four days later, after the renter moved in and opened a contract with a company who would work with renters, they said they would talk with her. Too late. Now that I've tried two methods to retain our contract and have been denied, I need to cancel altogether. Can't get anyone to answer my question over the phone and haven't heard back from the rep, Bryan, since Thursday. So frustrating as they want me to pay over $300 break contract. I am so stoked about my decision to go with Point Security, I can't even tell you how much I like it so far. I contacted them on a Tuesday via their website, requesting a free quote/more information. The representative called me a little while later, very friendly, discussing my home and my needs/concerns. He told me what he recommended and the cost, including things like - you know, typical sales (what I'm getting free and how long that deal lasts, yada yada). Anyway, it is a great deal compared to other companies I spoke with and they are not beating around the bush here as far as what I am getting and what I am paying. I needed that. One big name company, probably the most well known, insisted that I have a representative come out to assess my needs before we discussed money and that I then have someone else come out to install. Another company, recommended by a family member, wasn't playing that game, but still confused me on what I was getting and what the rates were. *There is a cancellation fee of $99 if you do not cancel your appointment (at least for a weekend) 48 hours in advance. I didn't like this because I felt overwhelmed and almost rushed. I also was informed of this right before the call ended and we had scheduled my appointment for only a few days away. My tech's arrival window was between 11 and 12 on Saturday. Juan called at 11 AM to let me know he would be there shortly. He arrived soon after and got to work. We discussed my concerns and how to maximize what I was getting in my package and suggested which add-on would best suit my needs without coming out of pocket more than necessary. (I was getting one free add-on with my package.) We discussed where we could potentially place the keypad and what would be the most convenient of these locations. After everything was mapped out, he got to work. He installed everything in the most possible aesthetically pleasing way and was quick. He showed me how to use my new system, helped me download and navigate the phone app, etc. When he left, he provided me with a manual in case I forgot anything he showed me. He made sure that all my questions were answered and my mind was at ease with my insecurities with my security system. About the system: This system has so many more features than ones I've used in the past and it is so convenient to use these features! Multiple access codes for babysitters/family/dog walkers, along with ability to control when their codes work AND see who and when someone activated/deactivated the system on your phone??? AHHHMAZING! I love the color touch screen. Also, just today, my husband accidentally set off the alarm and I learned more. In the email I was sent to let me know of the alarm being set off, I learned that in the scenario that someone sets off your alarm and tries to destroy the keypad (something I never thought of 'til another alarm company mentioned it), the keypad will send the alert to the monitoring center, due to lack of response, and police will still be called. One more loophole taken away from criminals. WHEW! Last notes: This company CARES about your opinion! I do a lot of comparison shopping when it comes to spending big money, especially when they involve my security and come with a long contract. During my search of consumer reviews, I noticed that they almost always respond directly to the reviewer, especially in the event of dissatisfaction, trying still to resolve the issue. I cannot say that I have ever seen that before. This really helped assure me that I was making the right choice. Also, Monitronics (the monitoring company) called me a couple of days later to make sure I was satisfied with my tech and service. I called Point back to obtain a certificate for my homeowners insurance and had it in my email within 24 hours - no hassle. Pros: 9 complaints with the BBB (all resolved) vs THOUSANDS of negative reviews with next leading companies, mostly unresolved, or vs some local companies not being found on BBB website. Installed ASAP and without multiple visits, friendly staff, professional install - no need to worry that you don't have what you need or that what you've done yourself is overkill. Read my narrative above for more pros! Cons: 3 year contract. (This could be worked around by buying the equipment, I believe.), $99 fee in the event of last minute cancellation. read more

Just a 3rd party middle man. You will get absolutely no customer service, and they'll transfer your account to another provider after the first 90 days with no heads up. No online account access, no way to view bills, statements or contracts, nothing a consumer in 2019 would expect from a service provider like this. This company is on its way out. read more

Had a fantastic sales experience with Chris out of the Sugar Land office and my install today went flawless! Both Jeremiah and Josh were fantastic! So far so good! We had some after service install issues and Chris made sure everything was done right at no additional charge. Robert, the Service Manager and James, the service technician came out today and readjusted a camera for better view and angle and they installed the mini touch screen in the master that mirrors the main touch screen. Robert also took the time to explain additional functionality of the touch screens and camera that we were not advised of on original day of install. Robert and James also took the time to give me some additional burglary tips that we were not advised of at install. Both Robert and James did an excellent job today. I highly recommend both of them. BUYER BEWARE: I trusted this place cuz I heard sooooo many good things about them on The Rod Ryan Show here in Houston. The main hook for me was that Chris [sales] told me that ALL hardware/equipment would have a Lifetime Warranty. Well less than a yr went by and my contract was sold to BRINKS and when I tried to call and make a warranty claim on the ZWave smart Doorlock that was part of my package, I was told by BRINKS they would not honor the "Lifetime Warranty" Point Security gave....(but they sure expect you to honor the contract length)! The only part of my system that would be covered are the control panels and sensors, not the Skybell nor Smart Doorlock that was included from the get go. Very disappointed! This company definitely needs to get it together! I need my alarm in my new home and in my contract I have what is called a "Movers Guarantee" which you can find online here http://www.pointsecured.com/about/our-guarantee/. It states: "Move Warranty Certificate: Point Security provides a move warranty certificate with every installed security system. We want you to feel just as safe in a new home as you do in your current home. Should you move to a new home, we will extend the FREE HOME SECURITY SYSTEM there as well. ***Current system must have been active for at least 12 months before the free installation is available. This offer applies to residential systems only." I just got off the phone with a technician by the name of Jeff that told me not only would it cost me $75 dollars an hour to install which could take a minimum of 3 hours, but that I would NOT be getting a free home security system there as well. He would need to remove the EXISTING alarm system from the home I was LEASING and install that same system at my new home. This is not going to please the owner of the home since they will have to plate the home where the equipment currently is. Definitely not going to let this one slide. Next step is the BBB and the local news if they cannot fulfill their "GUARANTEE". read more

Point Security sold me a system that was not compatible and failed to work properly after it was initially installed. The solution... Reinstall the older keypad. So much for the touch screen LED keypad. Also, when I recently complained about a billing issue to Point Security I was redirected to Montronics. Point Security claims to be focused on customer satisfaction but clearly this is a sales tactic. All of the contracts are through Montronics and even though I have tried to get in touch with Montronics management to discuss my displeasure with the equipment and the level of service they never returned my multiple phone calls and there is no one you can speak with after 4:30 PM on weekdays and forget about the weekends. When I threatened to cancel the service, Point Security advised I would be responsible for the remaining 2 years on my contract... So much for customer service. I am completely frustrated with this company and wish I had never switched. Stay far away from Point Security and Monitronics unless you have a lot of time to waste and enjoy the aggravation associated with speaking with customer service reps that do not have the power to solve your issues. Update: Just berated on the phone by Travis at Point Security for complaining to Montronics about the level of service that is being provided. I don't know about you, but as a customer I feel I have the right to complain if the services are not delivered as promised. Travis has made several claims about services and products being given without charge but he does not mention that none of these were asked for but we're instead offer by Point Security without solicitation by the customer. This does not and should not excuse the lack of response and level of service for recent issues. If you can't deliver the level of service you promise, STOP PROMISING THE HIGHER LEVEL OF SERVICE. I Five Star the customer service provided my Chris and the great installation provided by Alfredo. They provided great service and the installation went well. I wish that I was told that I needed to download three different apps to control the systems in my house instead of only using the Alarm.com app. When I research the company, I though the Alarm.com app had all the features that allowed to control everything in the system but in reality the company uses what it looks like 3 different vendors for the equipment to control the alarm system at home. The price is awesome and the quality of the cameras is great! Price and customer service wise, I provide a 5 star. Lacking an integrated technology system that only requires one app to control everything brings this review down to 4 stars. read more

He even pointed out an issue in my attic I was having that I wouldn't have had any idea about without his information! Please make sure to get everything in writing from this company before setting up an appointment with them. Chris our sales guys that we talked to for an hour "doesn't recall our conversation" on the day of installation when our guy comes out to put up different cameras. Then all of a sudden Chris doesn't recall talking to us about our home and doesn't remember talking to two people on the phone in length.- The - "we can do everything and our techs won't have an issue" is now "oh they can't do that" What a waste of TIME and please deal with someone other than Chris if you want an honesty. read more

We were long time customers (18+ years) of the "big name" company. To upgrade our system, they wanted over $1,000. Point Security offered more modern equipment, closed circuit cameras, DVR, Ring door bell, remote access, and more motion sensors FOR FREE. The monthly monitoring costs are comparable - so this seemed a simple decision to me. The installation was performed by Gil B. He was great - very personable and professional. He had everything up and running in a surprisingly short amount of time. Overall, we are very pleased with the equipment, service, and installation. If you're considering Point, you should give them the opportunity. read more

Really unhappy with them. I think it is misleading to say they are an alarm company, when they are just a dealer. They don't even monitor your system, another company does. So every time I call "Point Security" they tell me I have to call Monitronics if I have any alarm system questions. That is RIDICULOUS! All they do is sell you cameras which you could just basically buy at an electronics store or at Amazon. I am so mad. I was under the impression that they were an alarm company that monitored my home via the cameras and systems. Turns out, all they do is sales. So misleading!!!!! read more

Buyer Beware! What they don't tell you is that after your 2 year contract is up they automatically renew for 12 months. Oh, and you have to put the cancellation in writing 45 days prior to end of contract. But they don't bother to send you a notice and tell you any of this. Searched alarm companies in Houston for a few months before finding Point. Had ADT back in the day, and after working with Point I realized what a bad deal was getting by using ADT... for many, many years. The install, customer service, price level, equipment, and response to my questions and requests have all been perfect. It is amazing to find a company that has such a high level of follow-through... which unfortunatley is not something that can be said when working with service providers like phone, cable, etc... Point Security sets the bar very high. I recommend them to all my family and friends becuase I know they will treat those close to me with the same level of service that I too have seen. I is just nice to deal with a company that gives a dang and want to do the job right! This company is going to do well in Houston. read more

Just called this morning after hearing a number of commercials on The Buzz (Rod Ryan). In need of a monitored system and overall peace of mind i decided to call and at the very least check the price point. I spoke with a very informative man named Chris, who actually listened to me with my needs, wants and concerns. (Rare find to have a salesman actually listen, IMO). He explained the options and promotions that PS is offering at this time. I was very, very pleasantly surprised at the monthly cost. In my head I was expecting about $200/month given the level of security and equipment explained. When Chris informed me that given the promo currently being offered, my LOCKED IN monthly for 3 yrs would be under $70/mo, (with all the bells and whistles)! I jumped on that package. I was then informed, again to my surprise, that they just received a cancellation for this coming Saturday and offered that time slot to me. Without hesitation I took it. I have yet to review the install process as they are coming this weekend but I haven't a doubt that the installation is going to be stellar just as the sales/customer service went with the initial phone call. I have seen and read where some are put off about the three year contract and/or the $99 cancellation fee should you cancel a Saturday appt. I am not put off by this at all. First, with our last monitoring system and company, it was HELL to end our "relationship" with them. After our contract was up, without warning, fees went through the roof and were being auto-drafted TWICE A MONTH without consent. But thats with the other company. And their contract was only a yr. I am fine with this being a 3 yr commitment knowing that security is essential for myself and my family. As far as the cancellation fee, I respect that they will/could charge you for cancelling at the last minute or being a no show, so to speak. This is common courtesy and respect to them to at least fulfill your end of the bargain when they are performing a service for you. Saturday's are a high demand install day so YOU don't have to take off work. Whereas this is their job and they are working for you. It's merely insurance for them. I am very much looking forward to this Saturday's installation and my security relationship from here forward with Point Security. I will continue my review once install is complete. I'm having to replace the entire security system after 12 months of service. I've had three technicians to my home for repairs and still no luck. I also had a major security event at my home and, because the system didn't work, I was never notified of the event. What made it even worse, is that my contract was sold to Monotronics which I understand is the bottom of the barrel as it relates to home security. It's not easy for me to afford the addition expense of a security system and monitoring. However, I must have one due to security threats where I live and potential risks to my family and home. I've faithfully paid for a year, but unfortunately I didn't receive the service I was promised. I went with Point Security because a radio personality (740 AM KTRH) convinced me that this was an exceptional company. I must say the people at Point Security are very professional, positive, and friendly. Unfortunately, their security product simply left my family vulnerable and at risk. read more

My first experience with Point Security was a year and a half ago when they installed my exterior cameras. I was so impressed with their service technicians that I knew I would switch my security contract to them when my (then) present contract was fulfilled. They service their own equipment instead of sub contracting it out and that was of the UTMOST importance to me. They service what they install. I had a fantastic experience when changing my security service to POINT SECURITY! Initially, there were a few issues that were hold overs from the sub-quality technical work done by my former service provider, but MARK and JEREMIAH were able to fix them even though doing so meant new equipment had to be installed. I wasn't charged for the new equipment (and didn't even have to fight about it) since customer satisfaction was very important to PS. The system is working wonderfully as promised. A week later, I got a follow up call to ask if PS could send someone out to do another check just to be sure all the signals were working properly. Enter ROBERT, another excellent representative of the company, who came in and did the check as well as answering a few questions that I had. All was well. I'm very happy with the service that Jeremiah, Mark, and Robert provided. They are great ambassadors for this company and this company provides great service and a great product! read more

Excellent customer service and reliable customer support! The equipment that Point uses is top notch and I was impressed that they lived up to their ads of no upfront costs, just pay the monitoring fee. We had always had false alarms with our old company and they found the defective wiring job that a national company had put in (that they could never find). The technician they sent over was on time (yay for not having to take a half day off work to wait for the tech at home!) and he made sure I understood everything before leaving. Ok this may be long winded but wanted to be thorough. My first contact with Point was Chris in sales he was very informative about the system and what it could do and pricing. He was not to high pressure but I was ready to buy so did not have to be. On installation day the tech assigned James called me before his arrival time and gave me an eta which I thought was very nice and gave me warm and fuzzy feeling that an actual company out there that still believes in customer service. James arrived as plan we did a quick walk through and he was off to work. James was very kind and professional. That being said we did run into a couple hick ups that caused installation to go into the night. James was here until about 9 pm which was a lot longer than any of us anticipated, he was very apologetic and I told him not to worry about it I rather it goes late and be right than to rush and it be wrong. I was rather upset though that the office was pushing him to get me to sign contract even though he was not done with install. I found it a bit rude that he had to stop working to collect voided check and all that before the system was completed and tested but I complied anyway. So James finished and everything seemed to be working correctly. I did notice after he left the panel out of the blue started talking like we were opening doors and windows where we were not but I dismissed it as a glitch and went about my night. I armed the system at around midnight 30 via app in stay mode and went to bed peacefully knowing I finally got my security system in place. At 1:12 in the morning I woke up to a blaring siren and my phone going crazy as it seemed every door and window has been opened according to panel and app. After an inspection of my home I quickly noticed the system was malfunctioning. I gave my sales guy Chris a call this morning at 8:00 and informed him of the issue and told him I was leaving town this evening and would like to try and have system operating properly before I leave. He said service department comes in at 9 and he will submit a service ticket. At around 11 am got a call from Dustin and he had a tech to me by noon. Can't beat that response time!!!! Jeremiah showed up ready to solve all my problems and concerns he was very informative professional and seemed to know his stuff. Jeremiah was in and out of here quickly and thought it was a simple power up procedure went wrong and thinks we should be good to go. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 are as follows. I wished Chris would have told me that I would need to supply batteries, power strip, monitor and VGA cable for the installation process so I could of had that ready to go. Luckily I had everything but would suggest that they let prospective clients know that upfront so if they don't have it they can get it. Also I think they need to make sure techs are well trained on all products before sending them on their own to do full installs. I got locks, cameras,fire and carbon monoxide, doorbell cam, and extra keypad. The issues Jason had with the locks was easily fixed by reading the instructions and would have saved a good 2 hours had we just did that to begin with. Also getting DVR passed firewall took sometime but was able to get it done with a 5 minute phone call again could have saved at least an hour if that call was placed a little earlier. All n all I am satisfied and will recommend Point security. Even though there was a couple hick ups they jumped on it right away and that lets me know they do care about their clients. read more

I decided to go with Point Security after hearing about them on the Rod Ryan Show on 94.5 and it was a GREAT choice! I soon found out that another family member uses them as well and really likes them. I use to have AT&T and I was very disappointed with their customer service and their billing. I spoke with Chris at Point Security and he thoroughly explained everything to me, from the installation process to the billing and so on. He was very nice and professional as well. On the date of install our technician called to say he was 30 minutes away and this gave us time to get up and get moving before his arrival. 30 minutes later a VERY nice and professional man named Mark was at our door. We went through the house together and he went over all my options and explained everything to me in great detail so that there would be NO surprises. Mark did a fantastic job on our installation, and it was not an easy job. Our house is solid wood, no sheetrock no wood panelling. Its one inch thick wood (at least) in the entire house. Poor Mark was up and down the attic stairs at least two dozen times trying to get it just right. He was there for hours and did a GREAT job! He showed us how to use the system and how to use the apps for our phones and everything. I even called him with a question the next day (on a Sunday) and he answered to help me. Overall I am VERY satisfied with Point Security and look forward to working with them in the future to keep my family safe. I highly recommend them to anyone! read more
