Had an amazing first two months I recommended this company to everyone that I know. The last six months I have had nothing but issues and the only thing customer service does is put a bandaid on the problem. My front door camera has stopped working multiple times, and the door bell won't work causing me to miss many packages for my work. Cameras will randomly stop recording, and will have large gaps sometimes days with out recording. App says my door is open when it is not, completely dissatisfied with the product, service and support from this company. Over six months with this problem and a technician has been requested and has taken me over 2 months to finally get one scheduled. $75 for 60 months!!!! First we had a knock on the door by a solicitor who said ALL we had to do was put their sign in our yard and give referrals to others in the neighborhood; no contract. That's BS! I have no concerns with their system in fact I enjoy it but I would NEVER have agreed to allow them to install anything if I was aware of the contract. If I was asked about Vivint before last November, I would have recommended them to anyone. I started as a Vivint customer in 2012 and only once did I need service and it was fast and professional. Then in November of 2015, while out of the state, I received notice that my panel was not communicating, this lasted 3 days. Then in December it happened again, this time I was out of country. I called for an appointment, had a work order open to replace it but my schedule was a mess, so I waited. Then the panel not communication became a normal error. Twice while I was out of country! I finally called and set an appointment, taking the day off. The technician showed up and looked at the system, very professional as always. He went outside and about 30 minutes later he came back in and said he couldn't replace the panel since it was working now. I showed him the text alerts and emails to support. Especially the one that scheduled the panel to be replaced. He told me he couldn't do anything unless I signed a new two-year contract. I thanked him and told him to leave. I called customer service and they made all kinds of promises but really didn't care that I took a day off work for this appointment then they didn't do what they said they would do. After many emails and calls with customer service and the Vivint Loyalty team, note Vivint loyalty not customer loyalty, I canceled my service. While I had 4 years of satisfied service with Vivint. The fact that my system was constantly failing - in short no alarm system. Defiantly not reliable. Then to have them try to make me sign a new contract to fix a system that was supposed to be covered as long as I paid my monthly fee, which I did diligently. My advice, if you want a reliable alarm service and a company that is loyal to their customers, not themselves, don't select Vivint. read more

Initially, I decided not to use this Company because of the inconsistent answer and information provided. First, sales person Brandon was fast talking avoided providing disclosures then ran my credit before I gave him permission. I wanted to make sure I did not make snap decision not to use their services so I called back. I spoke to a young lady name Sam which provided some of the equipment free. Of course, FREE is the magic word but I still kept ears open for any other issues. We finally closed the deal and I was scheduled for 12.28.18 to install. On 12/28/18, Adrian (Tech) arrived to install before he would start installing I had look at the different things to sign. Then he asked about a credit card for Citizen One to finance the equipment. Initially, I gave him my Firestone card and it would not accept it, next my Walmart card did not accept it finally my Visa card and of course it accepted it. Adrian/Vivint used the deceptive practices to acquire a credit card to set up auto pay without the customer knowing. I did not realize the purpose of the use of my card until after he left and I receive notification that a purchase charged was added to my card. Adrian installed a keypad, Video Doorbell and left a mess for me to clean-up. Adrian installed the Keypad and phished the line down the wall. He drilled 3 different holes and placed a few boxes in front the holes so I would not see them before he left. Very upset. I had to clean up for over an hour because he half cleaned his mess. While he was working, his supervisor showed up lingering around that made me uncomfortable. Although his supervisor did help Adrian with linking other devices but I was uncomfortable. I called their billing department and spoke to young lady that talked over you while talking and she removed the Auto Pay. I DO NOT WANT VIVINT TO HAVE ACCESS TO MY CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS NOR MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. read more

I sold my house, they not only gave the new home owner access to everything they needed to secure the house but they also will not cancel the service. I have spoken with their "Customer Loyalty" Department numerous times and after submitting the same paperwork - I login only to see charges on my account again. Quote from Vivint: " It is important to us that each customer have a fully functioning system and we are committed to resolving all concerns to our mutual satisfaction. While a service co-pay can apply in certain scenarios, Vivint never charges for labor or replacement of equipment installed by us." I foolishly signed a contract for a Vivint alarm system. In the contract it says all the doors on the house, all down stairs windows, and garage doors are to be alarmed. After the installers left I went around the house checking doors and windows. To my surprise, only the two doors on the house were alarmed. No windows or garage doors. I called the sales guy, Neils Buckles, and he said he would come back to take a look. He never showed up. I called him the next day and he said he was on his way. Again he never showed up. I started calling the customer service line and was told they would come back and complete the install but would charge me $70/hr. They then said they would have to charge me for the extra equipment for the garage doors and windows. I said that it was in the contract. Apparently that didn't matter. I refused to pay for the extra equipment and their $70/hr labor fee. I kept calling the sales guy and eventually gave up. Fast forward a year later. The entire system no longer works. We can't arm the system, and if we do it just alarms with no way to shut it off except to cut power. Vivint is happy to replace the control panel if I upgrade and pay labor charges. So for the remaining 3 years we pay for nothing. When the contract was close to expiring I made sure I had all required paperwork completed and sent in to not renew. It was then that they were ready to start working with me. They would give me 3 full months free service and a new system if I signed up for 3 years. I literally laughed when they told me that. So take a look at the quote at the top and run like hell from this crooked company. Take my advice and chase them off your porch when they come to your door. read more

Don't go with this alarm service, they lied to me about the contracts terms. Told me I had 30 days to trial the system, because I already had a system. When I looked into the 5 yr contract, I called and another rep said I do have 30 days as well. When I called to cancel, they said I couldn't because I only had 3 days. I explained what the rep told me and the guy who sold me the system, that I had 30 days. They said they couldn't verify with the rep, that they would pull the conversation and they would honor it if they said that to me. Well it has Been a week and they can't seem to find the conversation, what a coincidence. I was on hold for over 2 hours today, spoke to 4 different people, nobody could help me. I'm still waiting on someone to contact me about this issue. The doorbell camera keeps going off and nobody is there. But I don't want to keep the system. Save yourself time and energy, don't get sucked into the alarm system. 5 yr contract, expensive equipment...you can find a better deal at a better well know alarm system company. read more

I would give it negative stars if we could. Do not get Vivint Home Security for any reason. We canceled in October. They won't cancel the account and are still trying to bill us and collect for service, even though we have sent them our confirmation of cancellation numerous times. I have had the system for one year. I have had several issues but lately it has been escalating. First I found my system failing to chime when my 3 yr old grandson opened the front door while I was cooking dinner. Luckily I noticed before he wandered outside. Then my panel started beeping with alerts. I tried to correct the issues using the Internet to no avail. After several calls to customer service, they agreed to give me a service appointment 6 weeks from now. They expected me to listen to beeping for 6 weeks! The customer service said they were "backed up". I guess that is a testament to their product. Then I requested to be let out of my contract since they were unable to provide service. They refused. I asked for an email or address of where I could send a complaint. They told me there was none. Please save yourself the trouble and avoid this company. read more

Recommended. I'm quite surprised at the negative reviews, although they do seem to focus on customer relations more than technology. Our experience with service and system has been very good and we're very pleased with the ease of use, remote access and the service we've received. We have had a couple of service calls performed "marginally", but our first installer was a great guy and did an excellent job. We've had one other system in a previous house (many years ago) that was totally wired, but the equipment was so primitive and hard to use, and the monitoring company (ADT) was unresponsive, that we just stopped using the system. In our current home, because of the location, we needed a system that was easy for us to use both from the panel and remotely, and Vivint's system has provided that. We have a keyless entry that is easy access for our grown kids living in the same city, email alerts on doorbell rings, and video of anyone at our front door. We schedule our thermostat settings for heating and cooling, automatically switching from one to the other - great for Houston climate. As a technologist myself, I understand that wireless equipment requires knowledgeable technicians and all companies that depend on home service calls have customer relations issues. That aside, the system itself and the remote access website is impressive and has worked well for us. read more

The alarm system works fine. The cameras dont work at night. The cameras that cause you to sign an extended contract with them. When my 2 years are up, I am changing services. The serviceman who came to check on my cameras laughed and told me they wouldn't work at night. The serviceman did tell me an incredibility involved method another customer was going to do to get them to work. Needless to say, I can't do that. The "experts" who you call for help don't know as much as you do. All in all, I do not recommend this service. read more

Buyer BEWARE we had a sales rep coming door to door here at our neighborhood. We decided to get the security camera and signed the contract. He told us we would be paying ONLY $48.00 EVERY MONTH and that was it. So me and my husband were like ok wow that's a good deal than paying ADT for $70something dollars every month. Well come to find out this FORTIVA Company is with VIVINT and the sales rep DIDNT TELL US Anything about this company I was thinking that this company is Fraud so I had to stop payment and that we would be paying them too monthly for the cameras so basically we should of stayed with ADT. But we are paying more for this Vivint company and Fortiva. So I called VIVINT and this lady tells me that since you signed the contract I would not be able to refund your money back. Because we signed and didn't read the contract, the tablet he was caring to sign the contracts. I attempted to have security services installed at two different homes and set up the accounts, plans, etc. When it came time for installation there was ongoing confusion, lack of return calls, and a no show. Due to problems right from the start I decided to cancel before they were installed. I was still charged the fee for both locations and, after speaking with their rep, arranged to have a refund which could only be done by them sending me a separate check for each location. Two months later I called about the refund- after being transferred to EIGHT different people and having to explain the situation to each one and 54 minutes later I'm still waiting for a refund. read more

Horrible company. I kept getting false alarms because they installed a wendow sensor improperly. 3 times the police have been called to my home, only once did the alarm actually sound. God forbid it as an actual break in, I wouldn't ever have known! But They did come out within a week to fix it. Still had yet another false alarm. Next they tell me it will be 2 weeks to have a Tech come fix it, apparently the other tech didn't do it right. So I waited. A week after they missed their appointment, I call and the phone operator never put the appointment in! A team leader tells me they will fix the problem and someone will call me back to schedule a time. No call, I had to call them 2 days later! Apparently it's a 12 hour wait time to get an appointment. The team lead this time tells me she'll call me back by the end of the day with an appointment or update. No phone call. I call another tell days later and they tell me, "oh, your appointment is for tomorrow". Well thank you for letting me know! The appointment day has come and gone. ... Horrible experience! I should have not even bothered knowing they had 1 star reviews and are not part of the BBB. Sales rep sold me a deal and then I received email confirmation and it was not inclusive of all the equipment he promised at the price we agreed to. I called back and was told they could not honor the price and they would have a manager listen to the audio recording and call me back. It's been over 24 hours with no return phone call and they also charged my credit card already for the install even though I told them not to unless they were going to honor what the sales rep sold me. Then they sent me an install confirmation with them this am. I'm on hold with them now (forever) trying to get credit issued. I'm reporting them to my credit card company, every community FB page I'm on and here on Yelp. Beware - they are a total bait and switch operation. Don't go anywhere near them. read more

Horrible customer service. I have talked to every person available in their "customer service" department and emailed back and forth trying to resolve this without going the social media route but they just can't seem to fix anything. As long as your system works there is no problem but once you have an issue they can never seem to schedule anyone to fix it. The salespeople are deceitful and the installers look like homeless people. For a so called christian company they can not be further from the truth. The contact is for 3 and 1/2 years where most others are for 3 so they tie you up as long as possible. I would think with all of the horrible reviews they get they would be willing to work with people. I saw the CEO on Undercover Boss and he saw first hand how horrible they treat their people so no wonder the customer is treated poorly. So sad to read every review and see the same issues over and over. You would think they would care but obviously they don't. read more

This is the best case of "BUYER BEWARE", ever. My husband and I have a 2 year home lease, we got Vivint and they told us we only needed a 30 day cancelation notice but they neglected to tell us we had a four year contract. If you look at the contract it is written in tiny letters below. Now we are stuck with a system we do not need and will be paying $50.00 a month for 3 years. We are moving back to Chicago for a family illness and living in a high rise with a 24 hour door man. There is no penalty option, basically no option other then to sell the system or pay it off. With so many options on the market today, don't get stuck with this!!! It is our fault for not being careful when we signed the contract so all I can do it warn people!!! Do not sign up with Vivint. Our alarm was broken, first technician couldn't fix it, said the only solution was to upgrade, scheduled an upgrade, another 3 technicians came out each still trying to do what the first didn't do and none of them would do the upgrade they promised 3 months earlier. Every time we had to wait 3 weeks for another technician. Leaving us without an alarm with our 3 kids for 4 months! Finally after the 3rd technician, a very angry husband, and several hours of missing work and waiting on speaker phone with the technician in our house, fighting for the original points we had with our first system, all very tiring...we scheduled for this very same technician to come back again since he knew what was going on and we were tired of explaining over and over again to each technician what was going on. It seems they keep nothing on record! We even had to tell them the names of the technicians! But when the 3rd technician was scheduled to come back and do the upgrade, guess who showed up at our door? The first technician who couldn't fix our problem in the first place! He left and said Customer Service would call us. They never did. Customer Service, very friendly & apologetic...I asked for the legal dept. They were very unhelpful and just referred me back to customer service. That's when I contacted the big boys...the BBB! Suddenly the legal dept. agreed to release us from our contract without charging our account further. Oh also, they said they would not be charging our account for all the months we did not have a functioning alarm, and guess what, they were! So when I called for the 3rd time to cancel the account, I also had them refund 4 months worth of charges for which we had no service. A very stressful experience! Anyone who has a baby knows how stressful it is to make lengthy phone calls, waiting, and having to wait around for technicians around baby's nap time, etc.... Also, my husband had to miss work to check up on them. I would recommend saving yourself the time and energy, do some research and find a better alarm company! I would not recommend this company to anyone. I have enjoyed the 2gig alarm system that they sell, and the service that their alarms.com portal provide, but the company itself is just ridiculous. As a naive first time home buyer, it didn't register in my brain what a 5 year contract really meant. Vivint has very little incentive to provide you will good customer service once you're locked into that contract. I just had triplet babies (it was quads, but we lost one), and I realized it was time to replace all my old smoke detectors, so I went and bought a handful of the 2gig SMKT3 smoke detectors on Amazon for $50 each. I had installed several devices on my 2gig panel on my own before with no problems, but when I tried to access the area of the installers toolbox to add the smoke detectors, I was locked out. I called customer service and they told me that because these were "life saving devices" that not only would they have to be installed by a certified Vivint technician, they wouldn't be allowed to use the smoke detectors I'd already bought because they may have been "3rd party" or "tampered with". Now remember, these are the exact same 2gig smoke detectors Vivint sells, and you can get them anywhere online for between $50 and $60. How much does Vivint charge for these? $120 EACH, in addition to the $50 service fee. Keep in mind, these are wireless! It takes maybe 5 minutes to install a wireless smoke detector. You attach the base to the wall with 2 screws, then you program the smoke detector into the panel. Really it takes less than 5 minutes. Vivint thinks that requires a 100% markup of the price. They have me over a barrel of course. I can't possibly feel that my newborn triplets are safe without these smoke detectors, which I could install 5 of myself for $250 (the cost of the units) and maybe 30 minutes of my time. And I can't get out of my contract with Vivint for less than $1000. So I have to shell out $650 to install FIVE smoke detectors. There are already many companies that provide the same high tech wireless security devices as Vivint. When my contract is up I'll probably be finding one that doesn't lock it's customers into ridiculous contracts and charge exorbitant fees for their services. read more

This company couldn't even get to the point where we could become a customers. My wife and I recently purchased a home with a Vivint security system already installed. Top of the line control panel, door locks, etc. Our request to them was very simple. We would like the system activated and we wanted to add to the system with cameras and possibly the garage door feature. I talked to 9 different people. 5 different divisions in the company and 3 appointments scheduled that all turned out to be failures. There is zero communication in this company and have shown to us they are severely unreliable and incompetent to even take our money and make us a customer. Each time the technician came out he didn't have the right equipment and wasn't aware of something that he was suppose to do. One time was a no call/no show. We were told "sorry we double book" The last time he called to say he didn't have any cameras with him and proceeded to try to reschedule a week later. Long story short. We demanded a refund for a deposit we paid and took our business elsewhere. We could not even trust them to listen to what we wanted and effectively make us customers. There is no way we can trust them to monitor our home and trust they will do their job if our home was ever burglarized or god forbid any other emergency arises. Do not sign up with Vivint. They are the most untrustworthy and unreliable company I have ever dealt with. read more

I was working outside of the US in 2012 when I the purchased and install of a Vivint security system and scheduled the install when I was back in the US for a 2 week vacation. It started out bad with the installer immediately "Up selling" the install and almost tripling the price. I found out later from two other Vivint customers that Vivint had done the same to them so one must assume that this is a company policy. I thought that I smelled a Rat but stupid me, due to my small window of opportunity I allowed the Grift to continue. When the install was complete and we called Vivint headquarters to turn it on I was advised that the city required a "Security system permit" "well gee whiz, I do not think that it was a coincidence that this information was given to me after the agreement was signed and payment rendered. Last time I looked this was called "Non-disclosure" and fully prosecutable but again, I am caught, I have to leave the country and I cannot even turn on the system? You can darn well bet that Vivint was not going compassionate. After several phone calls to customer service agents obviously used to hearing my story and well trained in telling me in the nicest of ways that they had no intention of doing anything I gave up and headed back out of the country leaving their disarmed system behind. That was in 2012, fast forward to the end of 2015 and to date, the system has never been turned on and I have never missed a payment, reminds me of the onerous Gym contracts they used to have. So, I have sold the home the system is in, I call to find out how to cancel this nightmare and giving Vivint yet one more chance to make it right and I made no less than six phone calls and had the most horrible customer service experience one could imagine but I also understand that this is the Vivint business model, they want to frustrate me until I go away, I was even told by a customer service rep that they were not going to forward my call up the chain as the result would be the same. The bottom line is this. The traditional business model is that one pays for service and service is provided. Vivint has flipped this model on its head, you pay and they provide nothing. When your thermostat locks your A/C compressor from starting...expect a 2 week wait on service tech. This is the first didital thermostat I've heard of that will lock your A/C from providing your home with cold air. I am writing this review even though I am aware the reviews are not important to this company. They have you trapped in a contract, so customer service is not important to them. and as a customer, I feel it. For those of you who will be smarter than me, and read these reviews before signing a contract with them, I am writing this for you. Sign at your own risk. There is no incentive for them to provide you with satisfactory service once you sign. I chose them over the other competitors because I liked the wireless nature of their system as well as the additional camera surveillance they offer (FYI-other companies offer the camera surveillance service as well! with better features and as low as free!). Well, the wireless service is a hit or miss. I have to re-download the App quite often in order to arm/disarm or lock/unlock my home. By the time I have completed that process, the convenience of this feature no longer exist. In addition, they offered a door camera, as well as outside cameras, with my service (the outdoor camera for a cost and an extra monthly fee). At the time of installation, the door camera would not work with my home because I did not have a pre-existing door bell. Granted, it is not their fault that I have a home without a door bell, however they do not disclose that this is the only way that feature works. Then the outside cameras were on back-order for over 4 months!! When I am finally able to secure a camera, after being with the company for several months without the feature I joined for, the installer arrives to my home and informs me that they can not install the camera! It seems that because my home is a two-story home, they are not equipped to install outside cameras on these homes. I understand that they are not equipped to provide service to me because my home is two-story, however the other security companies can, and I would have chosen another company had I known. Considering they are aware of their limitations with two-story homes, I would have expected that they would have asked me how many stories my home was when I initially inquired about an outside camera. However, they did not. I speculate that if they don't disclose this information prior to you signing the contract, because they would have a higher rate of clients who declined to sign. Therefore, I understand why they did not inquire about my type of home nor my door bell wiring. However, I am letting you know so that you can make an informed decision, if you decide to sign a contract with them. I will have to find another security company to supplement their inability to provide me with camera surveillance. If that is important to you, don't make my mistake. When I informed them of this gap in their service, they just acknowledged with "I'm sorry" and asked if I had any other questions. There was no attempt to try to determine a way to rectify the situation and ensure my satisfaction with the service they are providing me with. As soon as my contract is over, I will leave them. They have not done a good job of sustaining my business beyond the expiration of my contract. read more

If I could I would give -5 stars! I have had vivint twice! The first time it was great except when I moved, they tried to bill me for 6 months after I left! I even had documentation! Then after I moved into my new home, the sensor was faulty at the back door and would randomly go off. Then when I let my renters use it, the "genius" IT staff they had de-registered the system! I could no longer use it! So we sent a person out there to fix it. The person arrived, sat outside for 20 minutes and then drove off! I called to complain to a manager about this and they were rude! So I made another appointment. Somehow the appointment was changed again without my permission for another week later! Now I called again and the service team never called me today to set up my phone app! It was in the notes clearly since day 1! So now it's ANOTHER trip out there! I sure hope the tech can clearly read the notes! I was also told that I couldn't cancel because I'm under contract. However, how can I be under contract when they haven't provided any service!!!! DO NOT USE VIVINT!! We have been a customer for 1 1/2 years and the system is fine...the issue is TERRIBLE customer service! We scheduled a move and were told to take the panel with us (they gave us instructions on how to do it) and they said NOT to take the camera doorbell out since it's a live wire...said the rep that was coming out to install in our new home could take care of that for us (we only moved a few blocks away). Seemed easy enough! We had an appt for install at our new house (and doorbell removal at our old) last Saturday from 11-2. The installer did not make the appt (texted at 3 and said it would be at least 4:00 until he would get here). We could not wait as we had plans and thought he would be there at scheduled time. I called to reschedule that day and the customer service person said they would call me on Monday to reschedule. Monday came...no call. I called back Tuesday and was told they would call me to reschedule by Friday (were working to fit me in ASAP). Friday came...4:00 and still no call. I called back and they said the soonest they could reschedule was 10/31 (mind you my original appt that THEY MISSED was 10/1)!! I told them that was too long and that I would be paying for their service that I won't have for a month - they said they'd accommodate and credit me $25. REALLY? $25 towards a $70/month system that I don't have for a full month?? To top it off, if you recall, they told us to leave the doorbell camera and the tech would remove on 10/1 (but that did not happen). Since then we have sold the house and can no longer get the camera. When I requested a replacement camera, they said they would have to charge me $200 since I left the other one at my old house. I reminded them they were supposed to remove (per their request) at my appt on 10/1... but their tech did not show up. They said it was my responsibility and I should have called them to reschedule....isn't that what I tried to do last Saturday, Monday and now Friday??? HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! The Supervisor we spoke with yesterday said he would give me a call back in 30 minutes - NEVER called back! We did go ahead and set a new appt for install on 10/14 from 8-11 but the confirmation email I received says my appt is 10/31 from 11-2! They still will not help with the camera that they did not remove...the supervisor never called back as promised...and they have screwed up my appt again! I NEVER leave reviews on Yelp but I had to this time...I caution you....DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH VIVINT! read more

I disputed the charge with my credit company, and after the investigation and laughable documentation by Vivint, the company sided with me and told me that Vivint had given up seeking the $99. Alas, that was not true. Again I was hounded on my cell phone and landline everyday. I knew better than to talk to them on the phone with no documentation of their lies. Finally they emailed me about my being in arrears 90 days, and I answered and copied my credit card company on my answer, re-documenting what had happened and how dishonest they had been at every step of the upgrade process. I wanted the credit card company to be prepared for another illegal charge. Tonight I got a message on my panel stating my monitoring would be ended in 15 days! Hallelujah! Finally to be rid of this lying, dishonest company. I will say that some of the technicians who came over here were very good, and I liked them. But the company--stay away. I have by chance come across two former Vivint employees who said they quit because Vivint is a disreputable company. They better not try to claim that I owe them the recent renewal of my contract in full--I would not put it past them. They are all about money, not service. I have been with them since 2007, and you would think after all that time, they would give the customer the benefit of the doubt that perhaps one of the representatives made a mistake and offered me a deal that wasn't authorized. Hello once again Vivint her we go again I literally do not like your company ok so once again you all do not stand behind your word so I was promise a credit and was not suppose to pay until March so this company double charges me in March check this out one payment came in March 2 and the second payment came in March 14 which was the payment that should been charge to my account for $75. But no they charge me $63.10 at the beginning of the month and then charge me my monthly fee on my payment date. Here we go again just when thing start going better here it goes again not to mention that I never had to ever change batteries on any of my alarm equipment prior to moving to them . We constantly changing the batteries because we constantly get a low battery notification . I'm so mad right now because they double charge me and I called the company to try and clear this up and I spoke to a manager by the name of ( Ryan Bessey) and he tells me that they were only promise to pay until February please look in my review and look at Vivint response . They said they would honor the credit here we go again. At this point once my husband gets back in town we are going to figure something out. I will let all my neighbors know about this too and my HOA this company is not good company and I'm contacting BBB. This is crazy ...double charging scammer .. read more

On August 26, 2013, we signed up to receive service from Vivint, Inc. We opted for the upgraded package that included, smoke detectors, automatic door locks, pan and tilt video camera. Sounded like all the bells and whistles. We were told that if we needed to cancel the contract after 30 days, there would be a $150 cancellation fee. Sounded okay. We have had nothing but problems and complaints since. The day they were supposed to install the system, we were told it would take no more than 2 hours. The technician worked well over 10+ hours, but couldn't get it installed. The next day, another technician came out and worked most of the next day. At the end of this day, we were told that the Vivint wiring system was not compatible with our house. We would have to be downgraded in our "package." We were still having issues, as the system was never installed correctly. Apparently, the automatic door lock was not compatible, either. After numerous calls, promising to come and take the door lock system off, to this day, I still have it on my door. We continued to have a "low battery" signal that constantly went off. Again, after numerous calls, my wife was told to go into the attic and they would have her to help diagnose the problem. We had no intention of going in to the attic and touch anything! If we messed up anything, it would then by on us, and we did not want any other issues coming from Vivint. After about 8 months of dealing with the low battery signal and half the system not operable, I had enough. I contacted Vivint to cancel the contract. I was told that they could not cancel the contract over the phone. In order to cancel the contract, we would have to send a letter in writing stating that we wanted to cancel the contract. Again, we were told that there would be a $150 cancelation fee. We said, okay, even though they owed us money! When we were downgraded to the lower package that still did not work right, we were supposed to get a refund for the overpayments that they continued to bill us for. We made so many calls trying to clear this issue up at the time as well. We would tell every person who answered that we were still being billed incorrectly for the service. The overbilled us for months! They chose not to change it and continued to bill us for the first package. So, they actually to this day owe us money. However, we said we would pay the $150 fee to get out of the contract. I sent the letter in writing on October 10, 2014, indicating that we were cancelling the contract. We have paid for a non-working service for the better part of a year. On the October 20, 2014 letter, we notified Vivint that we would be putting a stop payment on the account. We did not receive any bills for a few months/couple of months, do not have an accurate date(s). We thought that we were done with Vivint. Then we start getting bills AGAIN! We started making phone calls again. We asked to speak to someone in higher level management, but was never able to do so. They send you to their Customer Loyalty Department, who cannot do anything to help you nor are they willing to send you to some who can. On our last conversation we told them that we were not going to pay the remainder of the balance. We did offer to pay again the $150 we were told we could pay to cancel the contract. The letter on October the 10th, also stated that we were no intended to pay. We were never contacted. We have now been turned over to a collection agency, asking for $1,802.12. Now I have to deal with the collection agency and possible credit issues! Vivint breached their contract by not providing a working system on August, 26, 2013. We continued to pay for the nonworking service because we felt they would make it right. Since then, we have found out that Vivint does not maintain local service technicians in our area and never had the ability to timely address any service problems. read more

I called Vivint on August 15, 2016 to cancel my contract because my husband has been diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and keeps opening the door and setting the alarm off. I was told by a billing representative that I needed to send in a formal letter of cancellation. I did that on August 15, 2016. I called in September because my account was charged the monthly fee. I called and she said I had to pay for September because I had to give them 30 days notice. She said my account would cancel as of 9/14/2016. The first of October my account was debited again. I called and was told I needed a letter from his doctor stating he was being treated for these disabilities. I sent that in on 10/7/2016. As of 10/25/2016 I still had not heard anything from them. I called and was told my account was cancelled as of October 20, 2016, but I would not receive any refund. I asked to speak with someone else and was told it wouldn't do any good and that anyone else that I spoke with would tell me the same thing. This is wrong! I would not recommend Vivint to anyone!!! read more

We were originally sold an alarm system that was supposed to come with an indoor camera, front door camera and garage door openers in April of this year. We were NEVER provided with the garage door openers. I informed the person who sold us this system we would be relocating and was told the alarm would be moved at no charge NOT TRUE. Further after the alarm had been installed I begin getting sensory notices on my phone (not FIRE) due to the electrical outlet in my closet overheating and melting from the THEIR alarm system. They would not send anyone to the house for two weeks (because no one was available to assist me) therefore the fire department (yes these are the alarm people but the fire department had to take care of their issues) had come out to our home to disengage the system that Vivint installed and let melt my electrical outlet. After this I was told we would not be charged for the time three week period we had no alarm because Vivint could not get a technician to our home in that time frame. Guess what they CHARGED me. Upon preparing for my move I called Vivint and informed them of our closing date and they could not get a technician to our home until the day of closing. I informed them there was no way I could wait that long and guess what they had no solution. I called today (October 14, 2015) to check on the set up at our new home and guess what they are going to charge me $99.00 for move fee and then a charge of $250.00 for the panel because I didn't remove it and take it with me after it nearly set my house on fire the first time. This is the ABSOLUTE worst company I have ever done business with. Please pass this onto everyone DO NOT ever use this company or you will have nothing but three years of complaints like I am now stuck with. read more

one day last month when i was at work and my wife was home. a vivint sales rep came to my home with an installation crew, and presented the vivint system to my wife, she seemed interested and so the sales rep continued to explain how he could install vivint for a 3 day trial for $99. she asked him if there was a contract. he assured her there was no long-term contract, that we could cancel during the first 3 days, and get our $99 back, or we could cancel the month to month vivint service at any time after that, but that we would not be refunded the $99 installation fee. she thought that was fair, so the rep quickly gave her the papers to sign, and she signed it (assuming the rep had told her the truth). i came home from work that evening and she told me about it, the first thing i asked was "how long is the contract?" she informed me that the sales rep said there was not one and that we could cancel anytime, so we decided to try it out a little longer than the 3 days, knowing we wouldn't get the $99 installment fee back. but that was ok. a month later we decided we wanted to cut some costs, and vivint was the first thing that came to mind, just a neat luxury that we didn't really need. so she called vivint and got transferred to the customer loyalty dept. when she told the rep she wanted to go ahead and cancel, he informed her that she had been signed into a 5 year contract! and that there was nothing he could do, she began to break down into tears so i took the phone.. there was nothing he could do so i asked to be transferred to his supervisor, and i was transferred. i explained the situation to the supervisor, that the sales rep had misled my wife into signing the contract, and that if we had known it was a 5 year contract, we would not have signed up. he directed me to the very fine print on the contract and sure enough, there it was, 5 years. i explained to him that the sales rep lied about that, and at first, he said there was nothing he could do, and tried to convince me the service was worth keeping. i told him that was unacceptable and we started to go round and round, he said he needed to perform an investigation to see if there were similar cases, i said that was fair. he called me back the next day (t5-17-13) and informed me the investigation turned up nothing. once again saying there was nothing he could do and we started going round and round again. finally he stated he would cut our term down to 3 and a half years, and give us one month free. i explained to him that it still was not good enough, even at 3 and half years- i feel that a vivint sales rep came into my home, and used lies and deceit to lock us into a contract that we did not want, saying that there was not a contract. that vivint is essentially stealing 3 and a half years of my money, for a service that i do not desire to have. had the salesman been honest, we would NOT have signed up, and would NOT be stuck in a 3 and a half year contract. i explained that concerning the circumstances, the only ethical thing for vivint to do, would be to tear up the contract and charge me nothing for the cancellation. but then i even offered to pay ANOTHER $99 to have it uninstalled, as long as i was not charged for vivint canceling this invalid contract, trying to be reasonable and understanding that the laborers need to be paid, and its not their fault that the salesman misrepresented the terms of the contract. the supervisor made it clear that i was stuck with this service, which i was deceived into purchasing, and that he could not do what i was asking. i continued to assure him it was not good enough, he continued to assure me he would cut it down to 3 and a half years with one free month but that was all he would do, more round and round, until he ended the conversation by saying he would email me the updated term and that he couldn't help me any further. Vivint is an unethical and crooked company and i highly recommend staying away from them. read more
