Lets talk. When it was first pitch to us, we were on the fence period however, the person who came to our house was very knowledgeable and we really did appreciate the video quality period they were able to set it up that same night they were here a little bit later than what they should have been for comfort period however, they did get it all done in 1 day which we appreciated period It was really fun to play with all the little gadgets and settings. And however, they work with the app, and we are fairly impressed and thought we made a Good choice. We were wrong. Part of the deal that we got from switching from ADT over to vivint Was a gift card to help us buy our contract. To ADT period we acknowledged that our bill was gonna go from $68 to a $120 period however, once we got the card and cleared off our AD t, then it was only going to be a $120 until the equipment was paid off And then it would go down to end up being cheaper than ADT. This is where it gets extra fun period we wait for the card. It never comes period we have now called more than 5 × 2 have this solution period we have been told that it's our job to contact their sales representative because they failed to write it into the contract that way period they gave us his personal information and his email so we can contact him and get him to do his job period for the record. We utilized both of those things he responded to neither period then. We were told there is nothing that they could do about it. Because if it's not in the contract, they can't help us at all period we also were told that what we agreed upon with the sales representative has nothing to do with the company itself, and they cannot honor anything that was discussed. Crazy, right? Then we were told that we shouldn't have called them. And it's their job to reach out to the sales person period and then the next call. We are told that somebody would resolve it and get back to us. Within a few business days, it has now been a week and a 1/2. And nobody has responded period we called again today on the phone on hold for a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes out of a Hour and a 1/2 call period we were waiting for an hour and 10 minutes for a manager to answer the request of the man on the phone period every manager on-site refuse to take our call period the guy on the phone was very nice, very sweet, and by the end of it, he even said that this was ridiculous period he also stated. He is never encountered this problem. And he doesn't understand why it can't be corrected. Nor why management would not help him period And then to start making matters worse, about a week and a 1/2. After our equipment was installed, we started getting error messages period we cannot keep the Lights hooked up. They go offline all the time even when we have Wi-Fi. Still available period everything that was supposed to save to the cloud. Didn't save, and we actually lost a large amount of our data period We cannot control the lights or anything from our phones. Anymore period we actually lost the ability to flip on lights inside the home because of the way that the new violent lights were wired. We now have lights that we actually can't turn on and off on our own period I have never seen so many people. Dodge accountability in my life period I am now paying a $180 a month for a system that symbol works only to not be using the system that actually did work just maybe not as well as the camera quality that we have now period however, I never had an issue getting ahold of a dt. I never had an issue when I needed them to come. And look at something, or there was a Tech Problem or an alarm went off or anything of the sort. Period it makes me wonder how much of this is a scam versus actual people trying to do the right thing. I am writing a complaint against Vivint, Inc. out of Provo Utah. Mr. Brown with Vivint Inc., came to my home and offered me a "free" Vivint home security system. I was concerned about paying the monthly service charge of roughly $70 a month for such a long term (42 months) being a single mom of four children. I expressed that concern and Mr. Brown verbally assured me that the contract I was signing would be easy to cancel at any time if I felt there was a financial hardship or if I moved. I continued to hesitate and Mr. Brown assured me. He gave me his personal cell number and continued to push the sale. I trusted him and agreed to the sale under those terms, but never had him write the agreement anywhere. That was my first mistake. Once the technician came to install the system, the system was poorly installed. The person who installed it, Mr. Smart, was sloppy about his work which is evident in some of the installation. He smashed my heating and air conditioning vents in my attic. I did not learn this until I had issues with my air conditioning unit the following week. I called and had it serviced and sure enough Mr. Smart had smashed the ducts when he was in the attic which led to the system not working. I had to pay more money to have that repaired. I have had the system a total of six months and in that time; it has been offline for approximately 4 months. When I call I can not get an answer. I finally got through today as I am selling my home and need to discuss cancellation as well as the other issues. I was given the run around and told I would have to pay out around $3000 regardless. I was treated like a second class citizen and told basically no matter what I was told by whom, it would not be honored. I have called Mr. Brown who sold me the system and no response. I have texted with no response. I filed a complaint on Vivint's website as well. I am going to continue calling Mr. Brown, supervisors, media, better business bureau, and will report online anywhere I can until this matter is resolved. I feel violated and taken advantage of. Mr. Brown, as a door-to-door sales representative of Vivint, used false and misleading sales tactics including offering a "free" security system, and easy cancellation, in order to sale me a system. He was aggressive in his sales tactics and would not take no for an answer. He made promises that he knew wouldn't be honored. I did not feel that Mr. Brown would leave without a signature. When I spoke with someone at Vivint to try to resolve the issue (Mishala), they stated that is why they use pre call and post call, so that they are "covered". The problem with this is they have the sales person stand right there while you answer the questions. It is quite intimidating and awkward. Mr. Brown promised me that cancellation wouldn't be a problem, but told me I had to answer no to the question was I promised anything not written in order to get the deal. BEWARE!! Vivint is not a good company to do business with. To this point I have spoken with two individuals at Vivint and have had one other person call a third individual at Vivint. Currently no one is willing to make any consolations. I have filed a complaint on ripoff report. I have filed a complaint with BBB of Utah and I intend to continue to put this info out on the web, media outlets, and other sites. I plan to walk door to door this weekend to alert all my fellow Vivint users or potential Vivint users to beware of these business practices. If I sense a consensus with even a few of my neighbors, I will contact an atty and look into filing a class action lawsuit. This is ridiculous. Whatever you do, do not do business with Vivint. Hey young salesman called me how I got my number I don't know I thought about that later I definitely need a security alarm system for two and a half years the building I live in apartment building has been broken into every time I leave they break in with they use their cameras to let them know when I leave and they have monitoring systems you can see on their TV there's four cameras and you cannot get off the elevator without the whole building seeing you leave or come back and then they call each other and well she's gone now we can go over I've been around for two and a half years and they just stole my winter coats again when I was out actually the day after that guy called I can't afford that right now I've got I have to get my mail somewhere else that's costing me $100 a year because they sold my mail my credit cards and they're doing it over and over I guess somehow there they seem to know what I'm doing on my cell phone internet I don't know how they just seem to know everything they're using motion sensors on me and every time I yell every time I open my door in my apartment door the main drug dealer here will suddenly come out his door he thinks it's funny they're laughing and he can give those sensors to this customers on the other floors for example a girl on the first floor if he thought busy selling his drugs then as soon as I open my door bam she suddenly appears getting off the elevator which is right across from me I still don't understand how their sensors can monitor me in the whole building anybody with them they're passing them out to more and more people I noticed and now I go in the hall and yell yes I'm the princess is here the motion sensors are on everybody coming to join my beauty actually the woman that runs this building is the one that gave the sensors to the main drug dealer I guess they're all getting a cut of drug money but I have pictures of the Baptist Minister higher than a kite in the middle of the night staring at my door very frightening how would you like to look at your people over door and see a black man staring at you in the middle of the night wearing his sunglasses no he was wearing a woman sunglasses they want those photos those I carry with me because they stole everything else they're not getting those I'm going to get my own flyers and start passing out when I get out of this place anyway I keep telling the guy that's great that's great and he doesn't understand the sensors either which is interesting but I says I don't have the money now so anyway this went on and on for about an hour he told me when I get some money he gives me a fake number 877-649- 9077 extension 0601. It's a fake number it's been ringing and ringing . I called it Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday morning here and it's just a strange number that rings so that tells you about vivnt it's a scamming rip off why would the guy give me a fake number I was actually prepared to order it today because I got robbed the day after I talked to that guy again two and a half years of junkies robbing me. I'm a business owner and would never treat clients the way Vivint does. I'll give a few details on what my family and I are dealing with. I wish I had the time to give every little detail but unfortunately, I don't think anything would change this unprofessional situation I'm in with Vivint. I would give Vivint negative 100 ratings if I could click such an option but unfortunately the lowest star I can click on is 1 Star. I was lied to when I left my home security company to sign up with Vivint Smart Home. When I received my first bill, it was twice as much! The contract I signed only stated the amount I agreed on paying from day one which was a very good deal. I recorded every last word between the salesman who showed up to my house. After asking him multiple times about how much I will pay monthly he said the same number over and over which we agreed on. I asked him if there is any hidden fees like installation or equipment fees and or start up costs, the Vivint representative verbally stated "No, this is your monthly bill due to our promotions going on. Please note, everything was recorded on our house cameras. We moved forward and started services. Since then I have called them several times to work things out so we can move forward only to explain my problems over and over and over then to be disconnected and never get a call back. I'm the one who is trying to pay my bill that was on the contract to only be told different numbers that are much higher than our agreed amount. I have been calling Vivint back for the past months to only waste hours of my time and continue to be disconnected with no call backs. I ya e been disconnected 4 times today spending over 3 hours only to be disconnected again. Very unprofessional company with no honor of keeping their word. They lie to you then lock you in a contract! They don't care that this will effect your financial situation and credit if you can't pay the higher amount they hid from you from day one. I own a company and would never lie to my clients to get their business and I would never lock them into a false contract. I will note that the customer service reps are very polite during our calls but every time we discuss fixing my contract to move forward, the call disconnects and no one calls me back. I have to call them back to only be disconnected yet again with no call back. I am the one who has to keep calling them back over and over and over. I will take legal action if needed. I have never left a poor review for any company but anyone who is considering signing up with Vivint Smart Home, should really think twice about that before signing anything. read more

Stay clear! We have had the service for 7 years. It worked great at first, but little by little the sensors, panel, app and doorbell devices started failing. They do everything in their power to avoid making a service call and force you to spend endless hours on the phone trouble shooting what is clearly failing product. You get one thing working and then it fails again the next week and they force you to go through the entire thing again. They won't allow you to work with one person, so you have to re-explain all the issues again and again and they force you to go through the same motions with them each time. It's hours upon hours of your life you will never get back. Our last straw was when the panel failed (AGAIN) while we were on a prolonged trip. We were going to be gone for a couple months and lost connectivity with our home while we were away. Feeling powerless, we again called Vivint. They refused to come out because we were not home and could not go through the troubleshooting steps with them. Instead, they insisted the issue was our Wifi and that we had not upgraded our app. We upgraded our app which fails, (completely shuts down) each time you click the "control panel" menu. We tried it on 3 different devices with the same issue. It's just pure insanity and horrible logic when your security system fails when you are away and your alarm company refuses to do anything about it because you're not home. Desperate, we contacted AT&T who was amazing and came out the next day even though there was clearly nothing wrong with the Wifi. Their technician Facetimed with me the while time. He replaced our router even though there was no issue with it because he felt bad for us that our security system wasn't working and was willing to try to make up for Vivint's shortcomings. He even reconnected the Wifi to the Vivint panel, troubleshooted another's company's technology to ensure that the Wifi was connected. Of course it didn't fix the security problem because the issue resided with Vivint. Calling them back AGAIN, I insisted they send someone out ASAP or else we were going to have to cancel our service - we needed our alarm system operational while we were away. They finally agreed to send someone, the soonest they could be there was 2.5 WEEKS away. When I explained to them how unacceptable it was that their product would be failing when their customer needed it the most - when they were away - they said there was nothing they could or were willing to do. Needless to say, I was on the phone with another security company that same day and we are canceling our service with Vivint. read more

Vivint is a horrible company ran by horrible people!!! Its almost criminal what these people do. I'll start From the beginning 1) the "Tech" was at my house till 12:15am installing the equipment and when my wife was leaving for work 6.5hrs later (7:45am) the garage door opener already malfunctioned and her car was stuck in the garage and the "Tech" couldn't get there for 2 days. 2) The salesman continued to come to my door every day for first 4 days, 1st time asking us whats for dinner, and he was serious. 2nd time he asked if he could "borrow" a jacket/windbreaker, (it was mid August and 90°) 3rd time he asked my wife who was home alone with our 2 small kids if he could use our bathroom, which she replied "GET THA FUCK OUTTA HERE!!" 4th time she didn't even answer the door and I had to call vivint and warn them that, "if he came back again I would be answering my door with a shotgun!!" Week 2 the doorbell camera malfunctioned and the smarthub malfunctioned, I called and said, "Come get your SHITTY EQUIPMENT OUT OF MY HOUSE they refused and sent out a 3rd "technician" who did NOT fix it and refused to take equipment with him. Week 4 I was working at neighbors across the street and I went home to grab some tools and accidentally triggered the alarm which was going off for 45 minutes before I went back and heard it going off no calls from Vivint and no P.D. I immediately called Vivint about the situation and their response was "we tried to contact your wife once on cell phone and once at office but nobody answered." They again refused to cancel service and come get their equipment. Week 5 wife set off smoke alarms cooking dinner and yet again no vivint and no PD/FD. There were at least 6 or 7 other issues in the following weeks, and I called tet again on day 92 or 93 and NOW I was told it was past the 90 day trial period and I was bound by contract and they would not come get their equipment and they needed to send three more fucking "technicians" before they would even think about canceling my services. Now these scumbags (Criminals) are trying to send me to collections because I refuse to pay them a dime for their shitty services or lack there of, and I refuse to pay for thousands of dollars of equipment that never worked from the very 1st day. Even if there was a contract, they would have been bound by that contract to provide me with working equipment and provide me with the certain services agreed upon and they did neither which negates their end of said contract!! Canceling a contract is not an easy thing to do. The contract says 30 day written notice. I sent notice, but could never get written confirmation. I emailed customer service, and three individuals at Vivint, several times. No response. I finally called and stayed on the line until I got written confirmation. However, the written confirmation said I had to call back on the cancellation day to verify. I was a happy customer for 3 years. They promised me in writing 2 additional outside cameras, but they were never provided. I actually considered renewing, if they would provide the cameras, but never could get them to respond. While waiting, I bought a different system. Sad, this company was already bared from several states doing business as APX, just changed their name and started over. ____________________________________________________________________ "You will then need to place a follow up call 3-5 business days later to have your account submitted for cancellation" - Thanks for your reponse but this is not how it actually works, sounds good, but not what your customers experience. I was considering continuing the contract. I called around the first of December to see if Vivint had the outside cameras promised to me three years ago. Yes, Vivint had had outside cameras for some time. I emailed a pdf documentation of where I was promised outside cameras in writing on 12/9. I never heard back and decided on a differnet system. I sent termination on 1/28. I sent cancelation in writing on 12/28 but received no confirmation or termination date. I called and requested confirmation and terination date. I got an email stating "I got your email thanks have a great day" - no mention of terminaton or date. I called TWICE 1/14 and 1/22 and sent three emails 12/28, 1/4 and 1/14 after sending the cancelation in writing requesting a written confirmation and termination date. Finally, on 1/22 I did recieve the following email: "Per your request on the 28th of December to cancel the Vivint. services, we can cancel the account on January 28th where this will be 30 days after we received your written request. Please give us a call on January 28th and we will finalize this and get you written documentation confirming the cancellation." I would have probably given you a three, considering you never sent me the cameras as promised. But the termination was such a hassle, I am sticking with the one. We don't even have Vivint, and I can tell you that we will never even consider them after dealing the "sales representative" that was just at our door. It's 7:00pm on a Friday night. My fiance and I work odd and long hours so we're sleeping. Regardless, it's 7:00 at night. Most people are eating dinner. Anyways, there's a loud knock on our door. We ignored it. Another loud knock. Now we're waking up, still ignoring it. Now it's a loud banging. My fiance goes out the side door to see who it is because our dogs are now freaking out. The female sales rep walk over to him asking to speak to me. He tells her nicely that I am sleeping and we have a no soliciting sign posted on our property, to please leave our property. She says no, that she would like to speak to me and asks him to wake me up. He tells her again that I'm sleeping, that he is not going to wake me up, and for her to please leave our property. She again refuses to leave without speaking to me and leans on my car. Now my fiance is pissed. He tells her, doesn't ask, get off the car and leave the property. Now I'm shooting out of bed because I hear two people screaming at each other- this Vivint sales representative is outside yelling at my fiance, "I'm not touching your car (when she IS leaning on it) and I will not leave because you are not Ms. (insert my last name here) and you don't own this property." But she does start walking away, finally. By the time I get outside she's at my neighbor's house knocking on their door. I called the cops. Two cops came within a matter of five minutes of calling.One officer stuck around and told us that Vivint does not have a permit to be going door to door. I guess they've dealt with the company before. This is harassment and trespassing. I could not believe that she thought she was going to try and sell an alarm system to me after being so rude to my fiance. And who the hell refuses to leave someone's property? If I was Vivent, I would be embarrassed that I had employees like this working for me. But when I googled the customer reviews on Vivent, I realized that they don't even give a sh*t about their customers, so I'm guessing they're not going to care about their employees either. The company website doesn't even offer a phone number to contact anyone. Pathetic. Unprofessional. Rude. Greedy. That should be the company motto. read more

***DO NOT SIGN the CONTRACT. DO NOT USE VIVINT*** Sales agent approaches the home, appears knowledgeable, credible, and you do your independent research online. Seems legit. They convince you your other neighbors are also signing up with their services. They offer you $1000 contract buy-out and also 60-day TRIAL (stating if you don't like the service, it's a hassle-free period you cancel the contract with no PENALTY). This is completely false. You only have 3 days to cancel after install. You are now stuck in a 5-year contract with Citizen's loan bank for the cost of the Equipment. I would NEVER have chosen this service as the salesperson was aware I had a 30-day waiting period before I could even buy-out my contract with ADT. I already owned the ADT equipment and my monthly rate was much lower. Why would I choose a contract that I only had a 3-day period to cancel the contract knowing I had to wait 30-days before I could even do that knowingly?? Sales agent, Chris, pushed the fact I had 60-DAYS to CANCEL THE CONTRACT (not 60-days to receive the CONTRACT BUY-OUT. Believe me, with 2 Master's degrees and 5 certifications in my field, Im pretty capable of understanding the transaction. However, Im accountable for not THOUROUGHLY, THOUROUGHLY READING the contract before signing, but the shady salesperson minced words, skipped over the review of very important pieces of the contract, and made Vivint seem very legit during signing. Also, the contract buyout of $1000 is not accurate. The small print of UP TO $1000.00 vs the salesperson drilling in "We are going to give you a $1000.00 to buyout your contract from ADT guaranteed once you provide a copy of the contract, see it says it here" (points to document making sure not to show the UP TO $1000 language)!!! They sent me a gift card totaling $71.00 because my contract only had another 45days on it!!! I would definitely have not gone through this nightmare for a measly $71 bucks. I called ADT and spoke with them, and they report they are hearing this pretty frequently from their customers now. I hate this system in under 2 months, (1)I have stopped getting notifications with sound. They are all silent so I never know when I get one. Yes, my notification for the app and my phone are all on! All other notifications from other apps get through. (2) I cannot adjust my detection zone, (3) they keypad on my front door no longer has touch tones, (4) often the video is very skippy...you see someone and then they are like 5 feet away. Not to even mention when the salesperson came out he "neglected" to tell me he was pulling my credit. I am in the process of trying to buy a house and because of this my score dropped! Did I mention that all this began on day 31 of me having the system on a 30 DAY TRIAL PERIOD! I have made 2 phone calls and 3 chats, I have rebooted and unplugged devices, uninstalled/re-installed the app, reset doorbell to default, and an hour ago while on the chat I have power cycled the actual doorbell. Which led me to now being charged 9.99 per month as opposed to paying $200 for a tech to come out in two days. Thank goodness when I called in before they gave me a $10 credit for all the problems I was having in such a short time of being installed. When the salesperson came out while making his sales pitch he asked, "you heard of us right?" When I said no I haven't he was surprised. I wish I would have read all the reviews before I was installed. This company seems to have a lot of issues and was even sued "deceptive sales practices, contract disputes and misuse of consumer credit information". Today I removed the sign from my front yard because I can not advertise such a company. Let's see what happens when the tech gets here in 2 days. This POS is costing me 3K and its worth about $3.50. Yes, I'm angry. I work hard and to get ripped off with subpar service and equipment is unacceptable. THANK GOD I AM AT THE TAIL END OF MY 5-YEAR CONTRACT!!! These last 4 months can't come sooner. Where do I start..., Ok, so to sum it up, since I switched over from ADT to Vivint..., 1. we've had the doorbell camera to go offline numerous times, and there's always a delay on the phone app, so if someone rings the doorbell, you can't pull it up on your phone and see who it is because the app keeps spinning and spinning forever. Not to mention, the motion sensor function has stopped working altogether. 2. The rear window sensors malfunctioned and triggered a false burglar alarm at like 12 midnight one night. I was out and my wife and kid were at the house, omg. It was like pulling teeth to get a tech over to fix that problem. Then we had another run-in with the rear window sensors, which I had to speak with a supervisor to convince them to send me 6 new Vivint magnet sensors since my system was hardwired originally, now there was no way to figure out which rear window of 6 was triggering the alarm; 3. We've had to replace our thermostat 3x. They always seem to crap out after just a few months to a year. Every winter almost, the thermostat stops reading temperature correctly and won't trigger the furnace to come on. 4. We had a carbon monoxide sensor replaced because it started chirping for no reason. The tech said it was expired. It took like 2 weeks for the new one to arrive. I'm like really??? Funny how after I looked at the old detector, it actually had an expiration tag on it for 2/2021. Now how does a company know when their equipment is going to fail.... unless they built it to fail in 5 years, so you'll have to get all new equipment and lock in another 5 year contract.... hmmm, seems fishy to me. The only reason this company gets one star from me is because their customer service reps have always been polite.... not always the most knowledgeable, but very nice, robotic, and they stay on script, almost as if they're inbound support calls are being recorded. We had APX then Vivint as our security company for 3 years. earlier this year economy wasn't doing so well and we needed to find ways to tighten our budget; it seemed that most obvious choice was to see where we were with Vivint in terms of our contract. It just happened that when I called we were few days away from the end of the cancellation window; but then their sales person got on the phone and after 10 minutes of me attempting to find out how I can cancel our service she succeeded in making me hesitant. Never provided me with the clear instructions on how to cancel. I got busy with work and daily life and when I finally called back it was 7 days passed the cancellation window and our agreement automatically renewed for another year. I pleaded with the company, wrote several letters explaining my situation but no budging; instead i got, hey if you commit to another 3 years we can lower your rate, what nerve. Here is my biggest complain - I have been a loyal client for three years, yet there was no attempt on behalf of the company to touch bases and remind of the upcoming automatic renewal. Yes, as a responsible consumer I probably should do better to keep track of my obligations and terms of all agreements, but three years is a long time in the life of middle class family. Long story short, I am still trying to find ways to fight Vivint and will do all I can to get $600+ back in fees paid for service I no longer want. In my view, their sales tactic are questionable and their renewal policy is stuck in the old age. They see their clients as $$$ and not people. I am certain that if they continue on this route they will go under in 10 years tops. I have a near perfect credit score and for the rest of my life I will boycott the Vivint and hopefully you will stay away from them as well. Since the original installation in July 2017, we've had two door modules replaced, 3 thermostats, one camera, one router, and a remounting of our glance panel. In the 7 previous years with ADT security, I only had 2 services calls. Both were for upgrades and never for repairs. The service technicians have always been extremely personable, professional, and prompt in fixing the multiple issues with our Vivint system. However, the last tech to visit was 1hr 43min late (past the window of time we setup) and there was no phone call, email, or notification otherwise informing me that he would be late. When I called the support line, they told me they had no way to contact the technician in the field and asked me to "sit tight" because they were "pretty sure he'd eventually arrive." Beyond this incident, we've been stood up twice for previous on-site technicians. Even today both my thermostats show indoor temperature as 0º F on the control panels. I cannot control them from the sky-control panel, glance panel, nor my phone app. Obviously, it's disconnected from WiFi signal and needs to be reconnected. However, Vivint doesn't monitor for these kinds of disconnect alerts and hasn't noticed the issue. I just live with it now because it's too painful to go through their support team (just to get stood up by another tech, for which I will have to pay a service fee to once they finally arrive). I am nearly at my wit's end with Vivint but they cleverly put a disclaimer in their contract that says that equipment breaks are not under their warranty and such incidents (even when they disrupt security services) are not cause for contract termination. Otherwise, I would have moved on from Vivint by now. Instead, they offer a credit on my bill for the times when their service is down. This is not a helpful resolution to the times my wife and daughter are home alone without the safety or our expensive security system when I'm traveling out of the country for business. Warning... We had a system installed less than 30 days ago. Please make sure you research the products you are getting and make sure you actually need each piece of equipment. The salesman that came to our door told us he could select two more houses for this great deal Vivint was offering. He was extremely friendly but very distracting, which didn't allow me to ask the questions I should have been asking. He showed me photos of his family and asked me about my children. Of course this is a good thing being friendly, however he was doing a fine job at getting me not to dive deeper into what I was getting myself into, which is a five year contract. Please make sure you ask for a breakdown of all of the equipment you are getting with your contract. We were led to believe that we had to select so many products in order to get this great deal! We ended up with things we didn't even want nor are we using. They gave us a quote of around $120 a month. What they didn't tell us or show us was a breakdown of what we were getting. The equipment came to a total of $4000! The other thing the salesman did not disclose was that he was running a credit check on me. When I gave the salesman my personal details I thought it was for a contract not a credit check. The equipment is interest free, however it's going on a credit card you're applying for without even knowing. I was very excited to get an alarm and feel safe in my home and I do like the system, however I feel duped into what we purchased. The cancellation policy is only 3 days. One last thing... the only way to get out of the contract early is to pay off the equipment (which is made by Vivint, so they are still making money off of the deal) and to pay 50% of the monitoring service, so what's the point right... you're stuck with it! I wish I could give this company ZERO STARS!! The biggest mistake I ever made IN LIFE was changing my security cameras and monitoring to VIVINT!!! A rep came to "my door" and asked if they gave my $20 off a month would that fix things and my answer was, "ABSOLUTELY NOT ... fix your systems"!!!! Do you know how bad an experience must be if $20 OFF A MONTH won't fix it??? Well I'm here to tell you I would NEVER refer VIVINT to ANYONE ON THE PLANET!!! It is the WORST security system ON THE MARKET!!! The only positive comment I can make is, customer service is excellent and the cameras have nice clarity. Neither of these positives have any value when the system and some of the policies ARE AWFUL: 1.) The app crashes/freezes just about EVERY DAY. 2.) You can only view 1 camera at a time. YouTube video shows you can "scroll" to the next camera with ease ... not so!! You must close the current view then you can open the next camera. 3.) You can only view the cameras on the app or the small panel installed on the wall ... and that is also ONE camera at a time. 4.) The rewind feature BARELY works and when it does, it's so spotty that you can't rewind and see images ... you have to keep guessing at "times" to select and this feature freezes 99.7% of the time ... you must start over when it freezes. 5.) The system has to be rebooted frequently. 6.) The camera door bell 'goes offline' frequently and the only fix 'that works' is to reboot the entire system. 7.) There is NO OPTION to "opt into" paperless billing. The only way to get your bills via e-mail is if you sign-up for THEIR autopay!!! 8.) If you do not sign-up for their autopay (I say "their" because I use autopay that "I setup" directly through my bank account"), you will be charged a $1 paper fee!!! So basically if you don't allow THEM to take money out of your account, you will be charged an extra monthly $1 PAPER FEE!!!!! I have been a Vivint customer for 7 years and have been very happy with the service. I recently bit the bullet and paid for the new control pad and doorbell camera. I paid for this upfront to avoid a long-term contract as we may be moving soon. I also had the installer check all my batteries, door contacts, etc. throughout the house-this was prearranged. There was one door that needed to have a contact moved, but don't you know it, the batter didn't get replaced. 1 week after he was here, I had to do it. Kind of a big deal for a disabled person to get up on a ladder to do it but I did it and thought that was the end of it. Then a couple of weeks later, I noticed that there was some sort of connection issue between the outlet and the panel because the battery on the system was draining. I realized the little plastic bracket that was attached to our outlet cover holding the adapter in place was the old bracket to the old system. The installer didn't replace it with a new one that properly fit it. No big deal, I thought. I can just call Vivint and they will send me a new one. Customer support directed me to Amazon to look to see what I could find and they would reimburse me. I said nope, not going to do that. Just mail me one and we'll call it good. They said they can't mail them out. I said to check with the installation company to ask where they get the brackets and to pop one in the mail to me. No, they said. Go to the hardware store and try to find something that will work. I had just paid out of pocket like $700 for this upgrade and they can't figure out how to get a little piece of plastic to me that probably costs no more than $3? Wow. Just wow. Vivint is a joke. Tom Essex came to my home 2 months ago. I told him I WAS NOT interested as I just lost my job. Tom PROMISED me he'd send me 4 $50 Visa cards to get me through. He also PROMISED he'd install the number pad lock in my door. Against my better judgment, I agreed to the install. He never came through. We texted him and have it in writing that if we didn't receive the cards, since itd been a month, he'd personally bring me the cash to cover the cost. They never came. I decided to call Vivint to get this settled. It's now been 3 hours. At the 2.5 hour mark I was hung up on. When I called back, the wait time is now more than 30 minutes! During the 2.5 phone call, I spoke with approx 3-4 different people. I was hopeful I would be compensated by the 4th customer service rep only to be PROMISED the exact same thing Tom told me. I obviously was not satisfied that I would have to refer a company I was very irritated with in order to receive the compensation I felt I deserved. I asked to speak to a manager which is when I was hung up on. At this point, I want out of my contract in full! Come get your system and clear my name. I don't want your broken promises and I don't want the security system that I was pushed into obtaining based on false promises. I still don't have a job, and yes I have been looking. I am not even mad about the service. In reality, the service works great Im mad about the customer service. About being lied to. About being up front that I didn't even want this and was told it would be Ok. Im mad that i've been on hold for over 3 hours and still have no resolution. Zero stars. Complete failure of a system; equipment doesn't work and deceptive (at best) customer service. My 78 year old father installed this high end system from your Vivint - among its features are glass break detection and motion sensors, in addition to others. Those features, and the system as a whole, was a complete failure when the home was broken into. A neighbor saw that the front gate was open and thus investigated - that's how we found out. Several window panes were shattered, the burglar then walked across the living room and apparently smashed the Vivint panel. Worse yet, my dad was out of town with me so we had to deal with the police, neighbors, and company to board up the windows - remotely. Most ridiculous is that phone app showed that the system was still armed! There was NO notice from the company that this had happened. In fact, the alarm hadn't even been triggered - the technical support team had no record of it being triggered and no answers as to why not or what happened. The police were even perplexed. And then, as part of "resolutions," they send incompetent technicians who actually SOLD my dad more useless equipment - sneaky sales guy that did nothing to determine why the system failure occurred. And maybe the cherry on the whole thing, the likely reason I was given that the alarm wasn't triggered was that the system wasn't connected properly - and yet they wouldn't refund the montoring fees (they obviously weren't monitoring anything without the proper connection). All they stand by is their limitation of liability which they will point out to you every 15 seconds. Pathetic. read more
