I was a Vivint customer for five years, and the experience I had while trying to cancel my service was absolutely unacceptable. The customer service was some of the worst I have ever experienced. Randy, badge #9154301, hung up on me during my call. Kevin, badge #9151871, told me he needed to transfer me and then placed me on what became an indefinite hold. The transfer never happened. I eventually had to call Vivint from BOTH my phone and my husband's phone at the same time just to get someone to provide me with real information and assistance. No customer should have to go through this much frustration simply to cancel a service. After being a loyal customer for five years, I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by the way I was treated during the cancellation process. i would stay away from Vivint. While rhe system is somewhat decent, there is a lot they don't tell you. First, once you install you are supposed to get inspections from local fire and police to verify it works and is up to code. the system is freaking pricey and it doesn't do everything. For example- it doesn't detect animals on your property. it was a question we asked and we were hugely disappointed by the fact no matter how low you put the motion settings it won't detect it. We ultimately decide to cancel and we were ghosted by the sales rep. He stopped responding and it has been the WORST experience with a company i have ever had. tried multiple options to get us to stay. way overpriced and not worth it in my opinion. we had ring before and it did more than this set up. I later discovered that Vivint continued charging me month after month. I also spoke with a representative named Darwin, and instead of taking responsibility and resolving the issue, I got more runaround and no solution. We signed up for Vivint through a representative at Costco, but our experience involved too many changing prices and unclear details for us to feel comfortable moving forward. We were initially quoted around $74 per month. While still at Costco, that increased to $98.27, which was already more than we originally planned to spend. When the installers arrived, the contract showed a total monthly payment of $122.59, including separate service and equipment payments. We also learned that the equipment would be financed for 48 months and cost more than $2,000. After we questioned the amount, they continued changing the package and pricing in an effort to lower the payment. We were also originally told we would receive 12 sensors, but only six were included when the team arrived. We decided to cancel before any installation began because the final pricing and equipment did not match what we believed we had agreed to. Even after clearly saying no, we were repeatedly encouraged to install only part of the system or remove different items from the package. The representatives did eventually cancel everything, but the experience left us feeling pressured and uncomfortable. Afterward, when I politely texted the Costco sales representative to say we had canceled and would be looking elsewhere, his response was "Bruh," followed by "What happened?" I started a contract with Vivint September 2025 and requested a move of service in August 2026. The technician canceled the appointment and I received notification by text message. I was upset because I had rescheduled my day for this appointment and went thru hell to get it rescheduled. Now the date of reinstall, I'm excited. When I reach customer service I'm told the tech had been knocking on my door and no response from me. Thus, now I'm being told appointment canceled and next available is 23 days away. But here is the kicker, as I'm standing on my porch, I see the orange and white truck come around the corner, whiz pass my house and leave my area. Despite multiple service calls, countless hours spent troubleshooting, and even purchasing upgraded equipment at Vivint's recommendation in hopes of correcting the issues, my system continues to malfunction on a daily basis. The problems include: Equipment repeatedly loses communication with the panel. Multiple doorbell camera "tamper" notifications, often occurring in the middle of the night without cause. Frequent battery warnings on sensors despite the batteries being brand new. System messages indicating batteries have been replaced when no one has touched the devices. Sensors falling off walls. Ongoing concerns that the system may generate a false alarm due to unreliable equipment performance. Over the course of this ordeal, I have had three service visits, and two appointments were canceled by Vivint. Today, after spending nearly 90 minutes on the phone with customer service, loyalty, and escalation representatives, I was finally connected with someone who could schedule an appointment, only to be told that the next available service date is October 31st. This is simply unacceptable. I also pay for a Premium Protection Plan, yet it appears to provide no meaningful benefit when I am unable to obtain timely service for a system that is clearly not functioning properly. What concerns me most is the lack of ownership and follow-through. I have repeatedly requested callbacks from management or someone with the authority to address these ongoing issues. No one ever calls. Calls are supposedly recorded, yet there appears to be no meaningful quality control or review process to identify and resolve situations like mine. I want to be very clear: I no longer believe these issues can be resolved through another routine service visit. After months of ongoing failures, canceled appointments, and repeated troubleshooting attempts, I am requesting that Vivint remove the entire system and install a completely new one. I have exhausted my patience and have lost confidence that the current equipment can be made reliable. All I have ever wanted is a system that works as advertised and provides the safety and peace of mind I was promised when I invested in Vivint. We paid off CASH on the equipment last year but when we scheduled the move they CONNED us into leaving the old equipment to get half off the new equipment. When realizing that we can NOT just leave equipment at the old place from the landlord and in less than 2 weeks of having the new equipment we are first told that we have to keep the panel ... then Carlos the supervisor came on and said no actually, we have to keep all the equipment AND keep our service until the equipment is paid off. I requested the signed agreement get sent to us and that was a LIE. The agreement clearly says we have 30 days to return. An hour and a half of terrible customer service. I called to cancel the service the week we moved and they did not cancel it. I noticed months later they were still billing me. Then when you call back to cancel, they try to get you to keep the service, with a 12 month deferment, that they will start billing you again, at the end of the term. When I brought this issue to Vivint's attention, they refused to cancel the service or allow me to return the equipment because they said I was outside the return period. They offered to lower my monthly service cost to $20, but that did not resolve my actual concern regarding how the financing and credit account had been presented to me. I continued paying for the equipment and service for more than three years because I did not want to risk damaging my credit. Odd Interaction with a Vivint Sales Representative A Vivint representative came to my door today and rang the doorbell and knocked very aggressively. I explained that I wasn't the homeowner and that I rent the property. Despite that, he continued his sales pitch, so I offered to take his contact information and pass it along to the homeowner. Instead of simply handing me a business card or writing his information elsewhere, he asked if I had a countertop he could use to write on. That request made me uncomfortable because it sounded like he was asking to come inside my home. I declined, and he walked away. He may not have intended anything by it, but I think representatives should be more mindful of how requests like that come across. As a renter home alone, being asked if a stranger can use my countertop feels inappropriate. I hope this feedback helps improve future customer interactions. read more

After the new panel was installed, we began having issues with our **thermostat and garage door opener**. I contacted Vivint because I wanted these issues FIXED. From the very beginning, I made it extremely clear that **I did not want to troubleshoot or repair this equipment myself**. I have six children in my home, businesses and responsibilities to take care of, and I do not have hours to spend working on equipment that I am paying a professional security company to service. I was specifically told that because of my warranty, **Vivint would send someone out to fix the issues**. Instead, I was transferred and ended up spending approximately **TWO HOURS on the phone with a representative named Annie**. Despite repeatedly saying that I did not want to work on the equipment myself, somehow the situation continued escalating until I was getting **needle-nose pliers, turning off breakers, disconnecting things, reconnecting things, and troubleshooting equipment myself**. How did we go from **"we'll send someone out"** to me standing in my house with tools and the breaker turned off trying to repair equipment myself? I was DONE. I told Vivint I wanted to cancel. And that began an entirely new nightmare. I have now attempted to cancel my Vivint service **THREE SEPARATE TIMES**. Each attempt has resulted in me spending approximately **TWO HOURS ON THE PHONE**. That is roughly **SIX HOURS OF MY LIFE** spent simply trying to tell a company: **I DO NOT WANT YOUR SERVICE ANYMORE. CANCEL IT.** And after all of that, I STILL have not been able to get this resolved properly. I have been transferred around, put through ridiculously long conversations, and **hung up on after spending hours trying to cancel**. I also want to make something VERY clear because companies sometimes blame these situations on an angry or abusive customer: **I did not scream. I did not curse. I did not threaten anyone.** I used professional language. I explained that I was disappointed and frustrated, but I remained professional. There was absolutely no reason for these calls to end the way they did. Then I attempted to have my **debit card removed from the account** because I no longer wanted Vivint charging it. Yet somehow I have spent approximately SIX HOURS across THREE cancellation attempts and still cannot get a straightforward cancellation completed. Signing up? Easy. Buying approximately $1,900 worth of upgraded equipment? Easy. Taking my monthly payment? Easy. **Trying to leave? Apparently nearly impossible.** If you are considering Vivint, please do yourself a favor and ask some very specific questions BEFORE you sign anything. Ask what happens when your equipment doesn't work. Ask whether a technician will actually come to your home or whether you'll spend hours troubleshooting it yourself. Ask what your warranty actually covers. Ask how much future equipment upgrades could cost. Vivint engaged in blatant bait-and-switch tactics, and I refuse to stay silent about it. I was quoted a single $50 installation fee during the Black Friday promotion nothing more. I took off work for the appointment, only for the technician to show up demanding an additional $75 fee that was NEVER disclosed. Completely unacceptable. The "loyalty department" made it worse by trying to trap me in a 60-month contract under the false claim of giving me the equipment "free." That is not free it's predatory. Their second offer was a $400 charge with an 18-month contract. Again, NOTHING like what was promised. Vivint misquoted, misled, and then tried to upsell me when THEY caused the issue. I had an extremely frustrating experience with Vivint. I had Vivint service and equipment installed at my previous home. When I moved, Vivint's own records show that the equipment was removed from that house for the move. However, according to the representatives I've spoken with, they cannot find any record showing that the equipment was ever reinstalled at my new home. Despite that, I continued being billed for roughly a year. After I eventually stopped paying for service/equipment I wasn't receiving, the account was sent to collections and is now affecting my credit. I've spent significant time on the phone trying to get this resolved. Vivint representatives have been able to confirm the removal from my old address but have not been able to provide an installation record for the new address. I was initially offered only a small reduction in the balance, rather than a resolution of the underlying issue. I'm not asking for special treatment or trying to avoid a legitimate bill. I'm asking Vivint to explain why I was charged for a system they apparently cannot show was ever installed at my new residence, and to correct the balance and resulting collection if those charges cannot be substantiated. A Nightmare Experience - I No Longer Feel Safe in My Own Home I had a truly disturbing and unacceptable experience with Vivint that I feel compelled to share. After dealing with persistent equipment issues, I was pressured into paying an additional $2,500 to upgrade my system. Since the upgrade, I've continued to experience problems. After months of frustration, Vivint finally agreed to send a technician--but the situation only got worse from there. The technician they sent, Kevin (the same one who installed the upgrade), was incredibly unprofessional. While I was home alone (my husband is currently overseas), he made me extremely uncomfortable by sharing personal details about his polygamist relationship and offering me his personal phone number "in case I needed anything." This was completely inappropriate and made me feel unsafe. During the appointment, he broke one of my cameras, couldn't fix the door lock without repeatedly calling others for help, and became aggressive when I reminded him that he had damaged the backyard camera on a previous visit. He started yelling at me, waving his arms, and denying responsibility. I asked him to leave my home at least five times. He refused. Fearing for my safety, I called 911 on speakerphone. Only then did he finally leave. What's worse is that Vivint has not taken any real responsibility. They want me to spend more money to buy equipment that is p only a few months old. I reported everything and received no meaningful support. This technician still had access to all my security codes and passwords--which Vivint controls--and yet they showed no urgency in protecting my safety. I now live in fear that this technician might retaliate. The very company I trusted to protect my home has made me feel more vulnerable than ever. I told him I wasn't interested and he kept asking me dumb questions like do you know if any of your neighbors are looking to buy security camera, I'm like how would I know smh. He asked came he come into my house and sit at my table to farther discuss the cameras after I told him I'm not interested and I'm busy. This review is not about Vivint as a whole--it is specifically about the unacceptable conduct of one customer service agent: Megan. Megan attempted to assist me but was unable to resolve my issue. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, she placed me on hold for 15 minutes without a single update. It became clear she had no intention of returning to the call, and she simply waited me out until I hung up. That is not customer service--that is avoidance. When I called back, Joy/Julie answered and resolved my issue quickly and professionally. I then spoke with Vanessa, a supervisor, to express both my appreciation for Joy/Julie and my serious concerns about Megan's behavior. Megan demonstrated a lack of professionalism, urgency, and basic courtesy. She either needs significant retraining or may not be suited for a customer‑facing role at all.
