Vivi Nails used to be one of the best salons in the area, but unfortunately that is no longer the case. I hadn't visited in quite some time and recently returned for a pedicure. I was extremely disappointed, especially considering they charge the same prices as other salons nearby. They even charge extra if you choose Essie or OPI polish, which feels like a low-budget "chop shop" tactic rather than a quality salon experience. The pedicure itself was rushed and lacked basic nail care. The technician used an electric drill file and did not appear to have a clean set of cuticle nippers. My cuticles were never properly cleaned or removed it felt more like a quick scrub-and-paint service than a professional pedicure. It also appeared that the same tools were being used from client to client, which raised serious concerns about sanitation. Another major issue was cleanliness. They use disposable bowl liners, but that seems to be the extent of their sanitizing practices. Instead of disposable pedicure sandals, they reuse plastic sandals for multiple customers, which I found unsanitary and frankly gross. The service itself felt very rushed. No quick-dry top coat was offered, there was no real massage, and the technicians seemed focused solely on getting clients in and out as quickly as possible. The "hot stones" weren't even hot they were simply glided over my feet for a few seconds before being set aside, presumably for the next customer. To make matters worse, the restroom was dirty and had flies swarming inside. Overall, cleanliness and sanitation appear to be major issues here. Based on my experience, I would not feel comfortable returning, and I would not recommend this salon to others. There are far better options in the area that provide proper hygiene, better service, and more attention to detail. read more

I had the loveliest experience at Vivi Nails with Candy. She did an amazing job on my nails. Every nail was shaped perfectly and the polish was beautiful and vibrant. They also have an enormous range of colors, and I had multiple colors to choose from. I decided to do a jelly nail base for my UV gel nails, with a gold string design including pink charms and pearls. This place is rude as hell. To the lady who did my manicure who was miserable and had the rudest attitude here is what I think of your salon. Your attention to detail falls short, your huffing and puffing when I ask for a square file and because my nails are short you give me an attitude is unacceptable. Vivi Nails is clean, well-operated and the people are very friendly. They do a perfect job with manicures and pedicures and pay attention to all the small details that come with each. I recently got a French manicure there and it's possible one of the best I've ever had. They really listened to the specific way I wanted the French (not a line straight across, but more of a U-shaped curve). Awesome nail salon in Brooklyn. Their gel extensions are on point and actually LAST. Which can be an issue with other salons, especially ones I've been to in the LES. Their nail art is cute and trendy, and most of the technicians seem to know what they are doing. I had my gel extensions on for 17 days before going in for a fill, and that was just due to grow out, otherwise I think I could've lasted longer. The "waiting area" at the very front of the store is a couch with 2 chairs, so seating for about 5 people. I came here for a manicure this early evening. I came in on a Friday at 5pm. I would have given this nail salon one star but considering they took me right away (and they were fairly crowded) I will give them an extra star. My nail technician said that I would have to sit in a chair because all the stations were taken. If I wasn't in a rush, I probably would have waited to have a station (getting your nails done should be relaxing and comfortable). I sat in the dryer station. I strongly feel that I should have been seated in 1 out of 3 massage/pedicure chairs that were free. Maybe that's just me? I asked how much the manicure was, and my nail technician said. "$6, $7, $8!" You work here, and you don't know??? Was I ripped off? She had told me to wash my hands, and roughly handed me my warm towel. I was horrified at this. Vivi had decent yelp reviews so I decided to give it a chance. I overall feel so-so about it. I got a basic pedicure and acrylic tips with regular polish. Within a couple days my pedicure and manicure polish started peeling off. I mostly wear sneakers, so my pedicures can last a good 3 weeks without any chipping whatsoever (Plus I chose an OPI nail polish at that). I had to get everything redone that same week because I can't stand the sight of chipping. I paid 60 dollars to get 3-4 days of decent looking nails. I gave three stars because although I was displeased with how everything turned out the actual pedicure itself was good as well as the cleanliness and atmosphere of the establishment. Initially, I had planned to go to my regular spot in Long Island but after fixing my car in this area, I decided to find a closer spot. Most Yelpers recommended ViVi, so sure enough I headed over. Parking is sparse, so be mindful. I walked into the establishment and was greeted by one of the techs. Its a small place with a no-frills kind of decor, which I was surprised about based on the area. Its literally a place you come in to do your nails, not relax and unwind. They do however, have a HUGE lot of polishes to choose from, which I loved. During my walk-in, I was seated for a gel manicure within 15 minutes. Nick was my technician; very sweet guy with a patient attitude. I say this because it took me awhile to find THE color. They do not offer you swatches for the gel polishes until you are being serviced, which I think is a bit of a hassle and time consuming. As I sat at his station, he handed me a few page-sized plastic displays with samples of the colors painted on a nail. Great concept, but many of the colors were faded as with any swatch display. Also, please note - Gel manicure is $26, if you want OPI or any brand other than the Perfect Match brand, it will cost extra. I think thats a rip-off. I stuck with the Perfect Match brand which they have a great selection of. Nick shaped and filed my nails exactly to my request and liking. No issues whatsoever and he even changed the color when I wasn't pleased with how it looked initially. FYI - they take credit cards but you'll be charged 8% tax. Overall, I'm eager to return and try a design next time. ViVi has now been crowned my back-up spot. Would I recommend to others? Yes, highly. read more
