We passed by quite a few different vivi bubble tea during a hot sunny weekend in Boston over labor day weekend. Vivi quenches our thirst and hit the spot. Hubby is not into boba, but enjoys a fruit tea with bubbles, lychee jelly, and aloe jelly. It ends up being almost $10 but hey when you're on vacay gotta splurge a little bit. One of the better vivi's in the RI area. Got a large Passion Fruit slush and a large Mango slush and both were delicious! I ordered on the kiosk as there was only one worker there and she was busy making drinks. She was very fast making my drinks and they were the best I've had from here so far. This is by far, the worst Vivi location I have been to. I am from Massachusetts and those Vivi locations are way better, in terms of where it is in the building, its interior vibe, and even service. This Providence location is in a basement area. It doesn't feel inviting inside. The ordering and the drink prepping is slow and they didn't ask for sugar and ice levels. We got the kumquat lemon with aloe. It is what I typically get in Massachusetts. At least it tastes similar at this location. Overall, if I must boba in the area, I would stop by a spot called Ceremony. It seems like they squished a Vivi location over here just to dig at the college students in the area. Cons: The reason why I give a 3 is because on numerous occasions they've messed up my order. They have once filled boba to half my cup which didn't help when I asked for a drink and not a boba meal. They're really nice as well if you don't like your drink you can ask them to remake it so don't be shy. I've watched a worker add ingredients twice because they got occupied with other tasks or didn't remember the recipe. read more

I went in during a day when there was a long line & there were only 2-3 people staffed. 3 stars because the popcorn chicken I ordered took about 25 minutes to come out and it was on the pricier end ($6-7 for a small bag). The wait time was understandable because of the limited staffing and the number of requests they all had to fulfill on their own, but it was a much longer wait than I expected it to be. So we both took our chances and ordered the same thing - a jasmine honey tea (flavored tea) with tapiocca (boba). I've never tried a tea like this - only the rice milk teas - but it was incredible!! The taste was so light and delicious. The boba went so well with the jasmine honey flavor. I would definitely order this again! The delivery was SO quick - we only waited about 15 minutes before the delivery person was on their way. They arrived quickly; we had the tea within 25 minutes of ordering it, maybe less. I've never had delivery time be that accurate on Uber eats. The person who delivered it was very nice as well. They have SO many teas to pick from and different menu items to try in general. Bright and funky interior, but not my favorite bubble-tea in RI. Dropped by yesterday to try this place, and my Taro slushy was made into a Taro milk tea that I couldn't drink. I am a bubble-tea snob and usually only like the slushies made with real fruit, so if that's not a concern for you, then you'll like this place. I think if you're looking for an authentic Taiwanese bubble-tea experience, vivi is for you--but we wanted americanized bubble-tea I suppose. I threw out my taro milk tea with tapioca balls, and so did my friend who got a passion fruit tea (it was actually bitter). Three stars goes to their lychee slushy. It was good and tasted like the bubble-tea we get at Tutti Frutti--nothing really memorable, but we could actually drink it. I'm disappointed because I wanted this to be my spot. Because unlike tea that serious obsessed tea drinkers drink (trust me, they're even more obsessed than the 3rd wave coffee snobs out there), bubble tea/boba is not really just Tea, it is Tea Dessert. This place was jumpin' when I walked in which spoke for itself. I ordered a black milk tea for myself, almond milk tea for hubby, and the galaxy drink. I like that they cook their boba til it's soft, some places have al dente boba balls w/a bite to it. The drinks also aren't overly sweet like some places where the sugar steals the taste of the beverage. The galaxy had a citrus and lychee flavor which was good. I like the design and well lit vibe of the place. A lot of games to play as well and the staff kept the line moving. Service was quick and to the point. Shake it up in the good ol' shaker, slap on a fancy plastic top and voila, the most nauseatingly sweet, most expensive, texturally confusing drink I've ever had - and I love me some three-colored ice! I have ordered milk tea many times here and the drinks were all good but yesterday I order a taro mochi milk tea, the staff said they didn't have mocha anymore. Then I ordered a roasted oolong fresh milk, however the roasted oolong milk had way too much tea in it! It is different from the roasted oolong milk I have ordered before at Vivi bubble tea! And when I got the drink I saw a cup of mochi right on the desk. It is just absurd! I don't know why that staff like cheating customers so much. I want to really like Vivi, especially with the partnership it has with Snackpass, an app I use religiously for scoring deals and discounts through mobile order and pick-up. But, there's something about the bubbles in the milk tea that aren't quite right. They just don't seem to have the chewiness and subtle sweetness that their competitor, Kung Fu Tea, puts in their own tapioca bubbles. Still, I feel like you get a better bang for your buck than KFT, as the sizes of Vivi's teas seem larger, and the original black and milk teas taste all right. I thought their Thai milk tea, even at 30% sugar, was too sweet, and their Japanese Matcha green milk tea had a strange flavor. KFT is still #1 in my heart, but I will still make some stops at Vivi now and then for its fun atmosphere and Snackpass affiliation! read more

At long last, we have a decent bubble tea shop in Providence that is closer to what I grew up with in California than any other place. It's also uber cutesy Asian so you get the full experience! The test lies in the quality of their tea, and I am impressed by the robustness of the tea taste. For instance, Kung Fu Tea nearby tastes like a watery mediocre mess. This 5 star review is for their Taiwanese sausages! I haven't tried enough from vivi bubble tea to rate them overall (though I was quite pleased with my mango smoothie with tapioca boba) but I've now ordered the Taiwanese sausage twice and it is addictively delicious! I tried it because vivi is frequently featured as a doubledash option on doordash and I'm so glad I did! I can't wait to try their takoyaki as well. This place might specialize in drink, but don't sleep on their food-it is really good! Also, a small but nice little detail that shows me they really care about their customers-my food had my name beautifully and neatly written on it and spelled correctly, which is rare! Most places misspell my name lol. It's little things like this that show me they really put love into what they do. I would highly recommend this place and I love that in my location it is very frequently a double dash option so I can add their food/drinks with no extra fee. I will definitely keep ordering from here and look forward to trying more items from vivi! Bubble tea options that range from cool and refreshing to warm and frothy. Are the bubble tea options necessarily better than competitors in the vicinity, namely KungFu Tea? I wouldn't say so, they are equally good. But there are several things that set Vivi apart, which include: 1) Listing calorie ranges for their drinks (ranges because you can adjust added sugar and toppings). 2) Food options! Popcorn chicken with 5 flavor options (have tried salt & pepper, spicy) as well as tako yaki (haven't tried yet). 3) Board games! They have board games, cards, and and Jenga, making it an even more social atmosphere! 4) Rewards card - 10 drinks and 11th is free.
