He charged me $120 minimum to diagnose it, not the $80 posted here by others. Had my TV for 2 hours and it was fixed. Charged me another $120 when I came to pick it up, for parts and labor. The parts cost $15 on eBay, but I didn't want to try to fix it myself. He did fast and professional work. read more

Wow!! I don't know what else to say.... Vista Electronics was so great! Our tv (power supply) went out which I guess is a common thing with Samsung's. Today I turned on my TV and soon after in the middle of watching something, the screen just went black but I still had audio. It's a newer Samsung 50" LED that I bought from my Dad before they moved which kind of shocked me. The TV isn't that old and I've never had a problem with it. Well after doing some research online all faults were pointing to the T-Con board (T500HVN09.1 50T26-C03). Had lights in the back of TV when on and remember the audio worked fine when the screen went black. I had no idea what local shops would cost to replace or repair this so of course looked on Yelp for local shops with best ratings. When I called Terry he asked for the model # and such and told me would call me back within 10 minutes, which he did. And with that, I'm only giving 2 stars instead of 1. The reason? Well he tells me the board will cost $100 and the labor is $80 to put it in. Now I don't own a shop or been repairing tvs for 30 years but I'm quite savvy when it comes to troubleshooting anything (it's my job to do so, being a Communications technician/splicer) and after looking online and a few youtube videos quickly discovered this was quite doable. It took me 5 minutes to take off cover, isolate the T-Con board, remove it, and order a new one on Ebay for $25. I'll get it within the week. Now I'm all for supporting local businesses, I do it all the time. But for $180 you want me to bring my TV to you, while you order the part, put the card in which takes 5 minutes if that, then come back and pick it up in who knows how many days? Sir, for that price you should come pick up my TV, if not repair it here, drop it off when it's fixed, and re-mount it to the fricken wall. Netting $155 for (at most) a 10 minute repair is ridiculous. I didn't ask for legal advice, I asked for a new board. If you have money to blow people, see Terry, otherwise, for another $180 you can buy a new TV. Thanks, but no thanks. read more

Vista electronics is great!!! I have a 50" Panosonic Viera plasma tv I bought at Costco about 3 yrs ago. So you can imagine how i felt ,"Great I'll just take it back to Costco and get a new one!!!" Wasn't the case. I was just passed my warranty with Costco and Panasonic only warranties for 1 yr. Panasonic directed me to a repair shop in Oceanside on PCH for the repairs. The place wanted $189 for the diagnosis , other places where the same or about. I felt kinda robbed but i understand warranties. I was about to give up but i gave it one more shot and looked here on yelp and found Vista Electronics. He quoted me over the phone $80 for the diagnosis on a Saturday . So I took it to the shop so he could check it out knowing that if it were over $400 for the repair I would just go get another TV. He said he would call me in a couple hours with the diagnosis and that the $80 would go to my repair if I chose to get it. He did what he said and I agreed to get the repair considering it was under $300 . He asked me to be over at a certain time and my TV would be ready. I was completely excited because I wanted to watch the Kings vs Ducks that night on my big screen!! It was ready on time . Now the Kings may have lost that night but I feel like I totally won using Vista Electronics!! read more

These guys are great! 100% honest & great service. I took my sony bluetooth mic to them for repair. Paid the $60 inspection/repair fee up front. Terry called me the next day to say my mic was not repairable. When I went to pick it up he handed me a check for $60, refunding my fee. Will I go there for my electronic repairs from now on? WOW! Received excellent service today from Terry and his helper. We have a 65" Samsung mounted on the wall TV that we had for only 1.5 yrs with a dead circuit board. He ordered the part and came out to Escondido within a week to our home and installed it within 30 mins. He stayed until the whole reset of the television and made sure it worked and remounted the TV back on the wall. Very friendly and I appreciate his integrity. I have to agree with a previous yelp review that this place is not capable to fix any audiophile stuff. so don't waste your time sending your audiophile gears to this place. I have three amplifiers send for repair, paid $180 total 60 dollar for each for check up however after a month or two none of them got fixed. Owner is friendly and keep me updated which I appreciated. first power amplifier he claimed he spend a lot of time on it searching online and figured out it does not worth to fix or a miserable parts not available. second power amplifier is not stable play at low volume, he said he checked thoroughly and there is no problem with it. I took it back home and still has exact same problem. he told me he checked with professional scope, but he didn't try to hook up with speaker and listen. Third preamplifier the phono amp doesn't work right, and he checked and not able to fix it. -------------------------------------------- Hi, Terry, Thanks for the comments, I am fine for paying the agreed amount for troubleshooting and I understand you sure put efforts in doing the research. ( As long as you own/keep this TV - KDS60A2000 Sony )" I told my very smart 8 year old daughter why our TV was broken and the first thing she said was "why does he even have a $20 bulb in stock"? He could easily have seen the Phillips logo on the bulb when installed and seemed pleased when he asked and I didn't want to keep the empty box. To me, the number of stars someone gives this place is most likely inversely related to their intelligence. If your TV less than 10 years old, Google the flashing light patterns or symptoms from your TV and fix it yourself, things aren't always like they used to be..... read more

I had an issue with my Samsung LED TV which was out of warranty. After a few hours trying to get Samsung to come and fix the TV I called up Vista Electronics. Terry was very professional and has much experience with the plasma TV's. He was very busy with some stuff so it took a few days before he could pick up TV and diagnose it. From the description I gave him, he had a good idea what was wrong, and after pickup and evaluating the set, his preliminary diagnosis was correct. The additional thing is Terry wants to be thorough with all he does. The problem I had was the solder connects had cracked on the one board. So instead of just repairing the broken ones, he did a preventive maintenance to all on the board so that I wouldn't have a potential problem in the future. So maybe someone would have done it for a bit cheaper, but because of the preventive maintenance and his thoroughness it is worth the little extra money. He had it fixed within 3 days along with his maintenance. read more

At a time when almost everything electronic is replaceable but not repairable, it was awesome to find someone to fix my old Crosley Stack-o-Matic portable stereo vinyl player (which I inadvertently almost fried with the wrong power adapter). Glad to find Terry of Vista Electronics to repair an old Technics CD player that suddenly stopped working. Had our "go to" person in central San Diego but have moved to Oceanside and it feels like starting over to find capable, affordable businesses for each of our needs. He was responsive (the first one to call with availability and a definite cost -- troubleshooting fee less than another who eventually called back) and had diagnosed it in less than 24 hrs. After the "green light" to go ahead and fix, it was done within a day. The cost to fix was higher than I expected based upon past repairs -- but it has been a long time since my last repair AND I am not versed in the time or skill needed to fix what was wrong. The business is behind a Karaoke shop whose owner was kind enough to walk me around back to find Vista Electronics -- and carried my unit, too.
