I called this company in the last hours before leaving the country. They picked up the laptop right away. After that, we corresponded via phone & email. They told me the hard drive was bad. They quoted me $349 just to "attempt" to recover the data, no promises about what/how much they could recover. Based on their comments, I wasn't comfortable with my chances for success, so they then they told me they would "do me a favor" and only charge me $99 if they could not recover any (which I had already given them as a deposit.) With the deep fluctuation (seemingly arbitrary) pricing and unclear responses, I had no confidence in a professional relationship with them, but didn't want to offend them so I just said I thought I would wait and hold onto it until a later time. I asked them to deliver back to the same place they picked it up. (They advertise free p/u and delivery) They repeatedly refused, saying they "would not be driving my laptop anywhere" and insisted on a shipping address at my cost. I found a local friend to pick it up for me, which they also refused, but then realizing he was also a local business owner, conceded and delivered it to him graciously. After politely telling them I did not want to proceed with their company, I needed to exchange ten more emails with them before they would accept it, which they finally did spitefully, and keeping my entire $100 deposit.
