I had old vintage high end stereo amp & preamp that Terry took in for repair. He did what others couldn't do and at a good price. He had it back to me with in a few days and is wroing great. I would highly recomend Terry and Vista Electronics. read more

Terry was able to revive my flagging 1970's stereo, and now it works better than it has in years. His prices are fair, and he explains exactly what he is doing and how much it will cost. Terry is very professional and you can tell he has a ton of experience and enjoys what he does. Thanks so much, Terry! read more

Needed to have repairs done on a WORKING Technics 1200-MK2 turntable that had an issue with the tonearm height lock being stuck. The turntable is rough around the edges and has noticeable wear from heavy use, but it works completely fine and has no mechanical issues beside the issue I mentioned above and that it's missing a couple screws in the base. I also disassembled it prior but was not comfortable trying to repair it myself so took it and drove all the way out from Temecula to Vista Electronics to have it fixed. I was greeted by the shop's owner (Terry) who was a friendly and knowledgeable guy. Terry was confident that he could repair it and charged me the $120 diagnostic fee, which I was fine with. I drive about an hour back to Temecula and receive a call from Terry saying that this turntable is a "basket case" and that he didn't feel comfortable repairing it based off it's rough look. I thought that was pretty strange considering these turntables have a legendary status among DJs as being one of, if not the most solidly built turntables on the market since the 70's and this one was completely fine mechanically. But I guess since they "looked" too beat up to Terry, he was not comfortable repairing them and charged me $20 for "inspecting" them. However, I don't think much "inspecting" happened being that his only issue with it, was its rough appearance. One would think an electronic repair man would be used to seeing equipment that's a bit scratched, dented or beat up but I guess this one is an exception. Anyway, a lesson was learned that day and I took my equipment elsewhere and I'd suggest you do the same. **UPDATE** I updated my review from 2 stars to 4 because Terry refunded me the $20, which was a nice gesture. However, I am still left with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth because I had driven quite a distance only to be turned down for what I think is something that is repairable. Also, i'm in no way out to slander Vista Electronics over $20. I just want all future customers to receive better treatment than I did. read more

I own some "Vintage" NAD Stereo Equipment... It is Very Nice Equipment...(NAD has Always been "Underrated")! NAD T 770 Receiver...NAD 208 THX Stereo Amp...Both of these pieces of Stereo Equipment Receiver High Reviews "Back-In-The-Day"... Now, I am told that they are still "Coveted " by those who are in the know regarding "High-End" Stereo Equipment! Anyway, Terry at "Vista Electronics " went through both of these pieces of "Great Stereo Equipment" and told me they are working well and up to NAD standards... (I believe Terry did replace a "Small Resistor" to get the Full Effect from the stereo Equipment and NOT Over-Heat)! Terry also took the time too show me just how to "Hook the two pieces of NAD Stereo Equipment up"! They sounded "Fantastic"! Thank You Terry... read more

The owner, Terry was super accommodating to me. He was very professional about his assessment of my repair. I dropped off my audio studio monitor and he had it fixed the next day! He knew how important is was for me to have it working and rose to my challenge. He is easy to work with, returns calls and does his utmost to help his customers. I will be one of his loyals for sure. AND he is a very easy person to work with. He goes out of his way to be kind with his customer service. I was impressed, especially these days where customer service appears to be in short supply. Barbara Ward Music 6-22 read more

I'm afraid my review is less than stellar. I told Terry that the remote was not working with my receiver though it operated other equipment. Terry lent me a different remote to try which I configured to operate my tv but would not work the receiver in any configuration. Terry said to bring in the receiver and I paid $80 for diagnosis (and perhaps repair). After one day, Terry told me he could not identify the fault and that the unit would not work with a remote, which I already knew. He had no solution except to recommend another technician. So $80 for "cleaning" and a diagnosis which diagnosed nothing. I am no further forward except not to trust any experts with this unit. Pity because so many of the revues are so positive and I was really expecting a solution. read more

Another great gem here in the heart of North County! Situated on a side street right off Main St here in Vista, the location is easy to miss, so just look for the convenient yellow loading zone right in front of their colorfully painted exterior. You can always call or email Terry and his team I found out as well. Terry really knows his stuff...and most importantly he is honest. I acquired a TV as a gift and didn't want to spend much money to have it repaired. Terry was able to work within my budget to diagnose the TV and get me all the info quickly. Unfortunately the TV was not repairable, but he worked up a killer deal for me on a similar unit that he had on the shelf. Needless to say I will be back for any future repair or purchase needs. Keep up the great work guys! read more

I had a turntable that was pretty high and I couldn't get it to work on my system... Terry (i'm assuming owner) took the time to plug it in and tested on his system right then and there...and it worked... not only did he not charge me , he gave me a solution on what to look for to convert my high end turntable to work on my lower end sound bar... As with all their other recommendations I give him very high marks for honesty. Other electronic stores probably would've just dropped it off and they would've just charge me for diagnostics and said they fixed it... I notice he also has some amazing turn tables for sale that appear to be a very good deal... read more

Terry fixed my 2011 dvd/vcr recorder-player which died with a vhs tape stuck in it when I moved it to a different outlet in my house. I couldn't find a replacement for either the machine or the tape - not sure they make either of them anymore - and I couldn't get the tape to eject or remove it manually by opening the box. Terry retrieved the stuck tape in working condition and repaired the dead machine. It now works like a dream and the old vhs tape does too. I couldn't be more pleased. The job required one replacement capacitor and cost $160 total, including the $60 diagnostic. read more

Don't waste your time. Tried to contact several times for a repair I needed and never had courtesy of a reply.

Our TV stopped working and not wanting to replace a 60" flat screen that was only three years old, we looked on Yelp for any other options. We found these guys and with 5 stars out of almost 50 reviews, thought we'd give them a call. We described the symptoms of the tv and they knew exactly what the problem was. They ordered the part, got it from San Diego, and we were fixed up with our old Samsung in a matter of a few days. Their service was quick, efficient, and a HECK of a lot less expensive than having to replace that tv. read more

After using Yelp for many years, this is my first review and I hope you find it helpful. I found Vista Electronics on Yelp and I took my two LG 42" flat screen televisions to Terry. First, don't ever buy televisions from Best Buy, from now on I will only buy from COSTCO. That's another story. One screen was distorted and Green and the other set would turn off and on by itself. I took both televisions to Terry around 2:30pm on Wed. On Thursday afternoon they were fixed and ready to go. I distrust tv repairmen as much as I distrust most mechanics. Terry restored my faith in electronic repairmen! I felt comfortable leaving my belongings with him and he was really helpful. Great experience working with Terry and I highly recommend him. And buy your next television at Costco! read more

Family owned business run by a knowledgeable technician. Last of these guys left. I had a horrible experience at Fry's a year before and I was set out to not repeat this nightmare a year later when my Samsung LED died 3 months after the warranty expired. Terry charged me an initial $60 for check-in which I thought was high. But that money was applied to the cost of repair which was a total of $150.00. TV is now running great and my family is back to peace again. read more

I called this shop cause my 5 yr old Sony Bravia TV was not working. It had vertical lines on screen. Terry said he thought he knew which card had failed and made a "deal" with me on the phone to either 1) fix it for $80 or 2) keep old tv for no charge. When I sent my hubby to drop it off he charged him $80 and a few days later left a message saying the TV was unrepairable because he could not get the needed circuit board. It took me a couple weeks to get around to it, but I did a search online and found the circuit board pretty easily. This made me wonder. Then I got a copy of the invoice in the mail where he'd charged my husband. Perhaps he just forgot our "deal". So I called Terry and he said he would "find" my TV and check it out, that he'd just cleaned his shop. He called back a couple days later and said it wasn't the card he thought it was and really the TV was unrepairable. Hum, he then offered to refund half the money we paid. Well this wasn't the deal we made over the phone, and I really wanted the TV repaired, but I "settled" for $40 bucks. Short story is I had to buy a new TV. read more

Terry is AWESOME! My subwoofer stopped working, after many hours on the internet trying to troubleshoot it myself. People with the same model where having the same problem, and was convinced that it was on its way to the scrap heap. I found Vista Electronics on Yelp, and after seeing all the 5 star reviews, thought I would give him a try. His shop is easy to miss (blends in with the mural on the wall), but was able to drop off my subwoofer. A couple hours later he called and let me know he had found the problem, and that it would be ready the next day. Amazing to say the least. Picked it up and it works just as it had before. Terry is very honest and fair in his prices, and very knowledgable in what he does. He had no problem explaining to me what was wrong, and how he fixed it. I will definitely use him again, and recommend him to anyone looking for repairs. read more

Terry is the best! Over the years he has provided me with great service. He is honest, knowledgeable, and forthright. I know I always provide him with a challenge since I consistently bring him vintage electronics to repair. He is upfront with his diagnostics fee, which goes toward the repair charge, if he can possibly repair the item. If the item can be possibly be repaired he will accomplish it. If he can't repair it no one can! You can trust him implicitly. read more

I brought my combo vcr / vhs player here based on the 5 star reviews. So disappointed! When I dropped it off I asked might it be ready in a week. Terry told me in less time. Two weeks later the only progress report was what I told him. 3 weeks later I called to say I was picking it up fixed or not. I picked it up apparently unrepairable. Terry seems like a nice guy but in my situation the customer service was terrible. read more

Terry was very helpful in fixing our TV. We considered replacing it but after talking with him he said he would go through the entire TV and be able to diagnose the issue for a very reasonable cost. It ended up being a small connection problem and saved us from having to buy a new TV. He also said we can take it back and he would fix it for free if the issue returned. Overall it was a great experience to work with vista electronics! They were quick, very communicative, professional, and understood our concerns. I would highly recommend them!!! Thank you Terry for your attentive service and we will be recommending you to our friends and family who may be needing your expertise. read more

As is his common practice, Terry charged me $80 to open the tv up and find out what was wrong with it. After he inspected the TV, Terry explained that vertical lines could be from 1 of 2 different problems. He then gave me the price and began working on the solutions. A few days later, Terry called me to let me know the TV was fixed and ready to pick up. When I picked up the tv, Terry told me the cost was actually less than what was quoted and to please let him know if i ever have any further problems. Thanks Terry! read more

Twice now I've gone to Terry to keep my old Plasma tv working.. I Love this guy.. He tells it like it is, explains what he's going to attempt to do, is patient, thorough, and brings decades of experience to his craft. It's like going back to a time where you could count on someone to help you out if he could. I asked him while he was looking at my set if I could help in any way, and he said "sure, but I'll have to charge you more".. Smart man... One other story.. Thanks to Terry for repairing my vintage BIC Turntable. Terry is very knowledgeable and incredibly nice to work with. I appreciate his advice and technical ability. It did a bit of time to work through my turntables technical issues. Considering my turntable is 40 years old I knew it might take a weeks or months to get it repaired due in large degree to ordering and waiting for parts. Terry was diligent about getting it done. I am quite happy with the work he performed on my turntable and would happily recommend or bring other repairs to Vista Electronics. Thanks! read more

Several weeks ago I called Vista Electronics for help with an old Samsung Smart TV. Terry answered the phone and was extremely helpful... I even think it was outside of business hours he picked up the phone! He gave me some troubleshooting advice over the phone. Since my large TV is mounted on the wall I had to wait for someone to help take it down for us. Many days later when we finally got it down, I followed Terry's advice and did some troubleshooting. I even called him ahead of time to see if he would be available to take in the TV in case we couldn't get to the bottom of it. It was without hesitation that he was willing to accommodate that and work around our situation that day. Turns out his troubleshooting advice over the phone helped us get the TV running again and we ended up not having to take it in. I am glad it's working now... but actually kinda bummed we didn't get to meet this wonderful, kind professional who took the time to help us solve our problem. It is hard to find people who are willing to provide exemplary service and really take the time to listen to customers. In fact, you don't find people who do business like that anymore. I will be sure to let everyone know about Vista Electronics and what a refreshing experience we had with Terry. Also, I no longer need to panic when I think something is wrong with my TV. Even if there is I feel like Terry's got my back and I hope to actually give him some business one day. Terry deserves 5++++ stars just for being a decent businessman!!! Thank you Terry read more

My HDTV was having an issue of not having the picture come on at startup. So after reading several reviews online...I decided to give Vista Electronics a call. I spoke with Terry...who has 30 years of "hands-on" experience. He and his associate picked up my LG television at around 12:45pm and returned my set back at 2:30pm. Apparently, it was four 10 volt capacitors that were bad. He gave me the old parts...and installed four "new" 25 volt capacitors...and now my TV is up and running with a dynomite picture. (Oh, for you seniors) Terry is very reasonable and did not exceed his estimate! If I need any other electronic help in the future...I will be using Vista Electronics in a heart beat. In this day and age...it is very hard to find honest, friendly and reasonably priced service nearby. :) "Two Thumbs Up" read more

Wow! Do tv repairmen exist anymore? I learned the hard way they do! Our 55" Samsung flatscreen tv went out a few days before we were expecting a ton of company for 4 days. Yelp saved me by recommending this place. I was shocked a company in this industry would have such great reviews and was a little skeptical. Well, I'm here to tell you Terry was fast and awesome!!! I gave him the model number of the tv, told him how the tv was acting, he gave me a quote over the phone and the rest is history. Thank you Terry! read more

If I had to sum this place up with only saying one word, "Genuine"would have to be it. An old fashioned genuine person runs this old shop. The shop is almost easy to miss. I took my four year old Sony 40" LCD with built in Bluray DVD player in because it would cycle on and off over and over again. I paid an $80 trouble shooting fee and an hour later he called me to say it was fixed. I hadn't even made it home yet when he called, so I did a u turn and went back. He said I didn't owe any more money. The TV is working great. Aside from the TV working great, is what impressed me the most was the impression you get from the owner that works alone in there. Very honest and genuine hard working man that enjoys his job and his customers. Not out to build a huge business, just enjoys his customers. read more
