This place is horrible. I wanted to get my contact prescription and they told me I needed a follow up first. So when I come in and tell them I'm ready to buy my contacts, they say I don't need a follow up. I will never go to this place again! I went in to schedule an appointment as a new patient. The staff there was very unprofessional. The girl at the desk made a phone call to my provider ON SPEAKERPHONE and when the automated recording said my name, she mocked my name and laughed at it. I also noticed the two girls behind the desk making fun of other patients in the "waiting room", if that's what you can call it. Terrible customer service! I will be looking for an office that doesn't have a rude staff that makes fun of the patrons and treats me like I'm an inconvenience to their day! Disgusted. read more

They were ok as Hour Eyes but I haven't had a positive experience since they became Visionworks. The doctors are alright but the rest of the staff is extremely rude. They are always misleading when it comes to pricing and coverage. I've heard similar complaints from everyone I know who goes here, but the general consensus is "they take my insurance and there's nowhere else to go". I'm definitely looking for a new place to buy contacts where I won't be treated like an inconvenience to the staff. read more

Awful customer experience. Everyone was so friendly inside, staff and examiners. However, they lost the address to ship my glasses and got things mixed up and when i said i would make a special trip to pick my glasses up they said to come on in. I was staying with my parents at the time visiting where i ordered my glasses so it was an inconvenience for me to travel back again, but i didn't say anything. When i go there to pick up my glasses they dont have thme and tell me they shipped them already and to the wrong address (my parents address) and that they won't be there til next week sometime. So now i have no glasses and i have to make another trip back or have my parents mail them out to me which would even take longer. This is ridiculous i even sent an email to the corporation. Visionworks Charles Mall, Waldorf, Maryland is horrible. I will make the story short although I have to wait for almost 2 months before I got my refund excluding the doctor's "professional" fee. I had a regular & sun glasses for $729 (insurance applied). First they messed up my far vision, cannot drive nor watch TV. Then they messed up the near vision. The last time I went there, they made it sound like I am difficult but I am not paying for something I cannot use. Right after the refund, I went to Walmart. After 1 week, I have my glasses and I've used it for 3 weeks now WITHOUT any problem. Also, I paid $177 less than Visionworks. Unfortunately, Walmart does not accept my insurance but even without applying insurance, the $177 savings is great! I can buy a a pair of jordans with that! I got the 2nd to the most expensive lens: wide range progressive lens, light, anti-glare/scratch. The sun glasses has the same feature except of course that it's dark. Lesson learned. Fellow consumers, do due diligence so you don't waste your time & money. Don't pay anyone to insult your person, integrity, honesty & treat you like you are just being difficult. Visionworks use all these gimmick of buy 2, take one or 50% off but they jack up the price. To this day, I am still wondering where they made a mistake. This place does get packed but if you schedule an appt. you won't have to wait too long. The best time to go is in the afternoon. The receptionist aren't too good with the phone but are nice in person. Is it the best customer service? Not really but they have great specials and prices and again as long as you have an appt it will be a decent experience. read more

My experience at VisionWorks located inside St. Charles Town Center on 08/03/2019 has been every bit of amazing. The staff was very helpful, made everything easy for me and figured out great solutions for me. Ms. Treena and Chaun were especially instrumental in making sure I left today with a new pair of glasses which made life a lot easier for me, seeing as my old glasses had broken. I fully recommend everyone to come in and fully experience the wonderful customer service provided. read more

I stopped in today to make an appointment because I thought my vision started going bad and knew I would have to end up getting contacts or glasses. I went in right around when they opened and they offered to see me immediately, instead of making an appointment and coming back. I saw the doctor within 10 minutes, who was very nice! I went back out to pick glasses, and two of the girls at the front helped me find frames. I was there about an hour.. From the time I went in to walking out with my new glasses. read more

Everyone was very friendly. The doctor was very thorough and my daughter and I were in and out in a timely fashion. I did not give 5 Stars because of the supervisor by the name of Mary. When she was ringing me up she gave me my total and it seemed high. I asked her to break down the charges for me and that's when I learned that she added something that was "optional" that she never discussed with me. She said "well the doctor recommended it". At no time did the doctor mention this particular option to me, nor did she. She just took it upon herself to charge me for it. Later that evening I was telling my husband about my experience and how Mary was about to charge me an additional $100 for a glare protectant for our glasses. My husband mentioned he was there the week before right as the store opened and he could hear the staff discussing the sales goal for the day. I can only imagine how many people have paid for different "optional" products that were never discussed with them, and in my case, the product wasn't something we even needed because we wear our contacts 90% of the time. Make sure you look at the receipt prior to paying. The store has a daily sales objective and it doesn't seem as if they are being completely honest with their customers. read more

The store front is well maintained and the optometrist is great, but the customer service is absolutely horrible. The billing is also poorly managed. I have a federal vision plan. They overcharged me by 50% on the eye exam. I called the store and they said you need to speak with the manager to clarify the overcharge and that she was not in but would take a message. I've called over a dozen times in the last YEAR and still haven't received a phone call back. I've walked into the store and the manager has never been available. The sales reps have assured me the price they charge was the correct amount according to the insurance plan, but my insurance company has stated otherwise. I have sent a demand letter to Visionworks for a refund and the insurance company has also sent a demand letter for a refund. Over 13 months have since gone by and no refund in sight. What they are doing is illegal and an injustice to those on a federal plan obtained through the service of their country. Stay away from this location to prevent an overcharge and for your own sanity! read more

Do not go here!!! I have never been to a less professional office in my life! To start off they overbooked so everyone are corralled into a tiny space. That can be overlooked my experience isn't. I am on visit 4 and still do not have a accurate contact lens prescription. First time they didn't offer my contact so I was given a trial pair that was not my script. Went to follow-up exam explained to the Dr (not the one I saw the first time) I didn't feel like the script was right and was told it was strong enough. Get home and decided to go elsewhere to get my contacts. I get to a different establishment to order ....the name is wrong! The name wasn't even halfway close to my name. I go back again to get that fixed. At home, I decide to order them online. I am look at the script and it just doesn't look right. I go in my drawer and get my old boxes and...yep you guessed it as written wrong. Today I went back and what a disappointing experience. The lady tired to tell me that I was wrong. The other lady had to tell her I was correct. THE DOCTOR WAS HORRIBLE. He is immediately accusatory, that I keep changing my mind...You ask well did I get my script...sadly no. They have to order a trial pair before I get my script. I don't generally write reviews but I had to for this place. read more

In reading other reviews, I am very suprised that Visionworks has received such low ratings. I came from America's Best and before that I had Doctors On Sight and before that used Kaiser's vision center. Of all of the vision places that I have been, Visionworks has the best selection of glasses. the staff are really nice and the prices are not outrageous for the frames. I get a frame allowance through my insurance anyway, so it's not that big of a deal regarding the frame cost. At one time, my vision was fluctuating so much because I was on the computer all day at work and then was on the computer in online classes at night for about 10 months. Every couple of weeks it seemed as if my vision changed. The doctor continued to see me until I ended up with a prescription that worked so well that I no longer needed to use reading glasses over top of my contact lenses. And...they didn't charge me for everytime I had to return either. I must have had to change presctiptons at least 3 times! I was so happy that I could have done cartwheels in their office. It was so great that I didn't have to fight with both contacts and readers. I have never had any issues with appointments or my contacts or glasses not coming in when they told me they would be in. Only one time I didn't receive a call to let me know that my contacts were in and I think that was because they had a new guy. I mentioned that I didn't receive a call to let me know and the next time I ordered, I had a call to let me know. My insurance vendor just changed for next year's vision benefits and I was so afraid that Visionworks didn't participat with my new vendor. Thank goodness they do! I will stick with Visionworks!! read more

I've been wearing glasses for over 20 years and I've never been more unhappy with the pair I received from this location. I've been getting eye glasses and contacts from Lens Crafters and had to search for another doctor since they no longer accepted my vision insurance. I decided to walk to Visionworks since it was also located in the same mall. The eye exam was not thorough at all. It probably lasted only 5 mins. I'm so use to having a thorough eye exam from Lens Crafters and was immediately unimpressed. After the exam, I selected a pair of frames to purchase eye glasses. I was told my glasses will be ready in 3-5 days. Over a week past, I called the location back it was told "Oh, yea, we have them". No one bothered to call me to tell me. I returned to the store and was excited to try on my new glasses so I can give my eyes a rest from wearing contacts full-time. As soon as I put on my glasses, I was immediately startled. It was like looking through a fish bowl or a "Funhouse" mirror. I told the lab tech that my prescription or the lens weren't right. He took the glasses to the back to alter them and came back out. It was slightly better but things still looked distorted. I was told "you'll get used to it" as oppose to trying to resolve the issue. I left with the glasses yesterday and I have to wait 2 more days for the lab tech to return to try to fix my glasses. If not, they can keep the pair. Looking through the glasses is making me dizzy and gave me a headache. Customer service was ok. The quality of the glasses was extremely poor. read more

I was had an amazing experience of exceptional customer service today at the Waldorf store. I had purchased a very expensive pair of glasses a little over a year ago and had returned several months after the initial purchase because the handle detached. I was still under warranty and so my frame was replaced. Yesterday, the handle came off of the second pair and I went to the store to see if it could be repaired. The manager, Charmaine explained that the glasses could not be repaired and I was beyond my 12 month warranty. Basically, the company had no obligation to compensate me in any way. Charmaine researched and found that the frame had been discontinued and suspected it was because of problems such as the one I was having; still, the company was not under obligation to compensate me, being my glasses were no longer under warranty. Just when I was about to be totally frustrated at the thought of having to spend more money on frames to fit my lenses, Charmaine made it clear she wanted to help me. She offered me the same frame, at no cost, if there was one remaining in the store. She searched and found the ONE remaining frame in the store, same designer and actually a slightly different and more attractive color than the one I had purchased. She had the lenses switched out and cleaned and the new glasses were mine!! Hopefully this pair will stay intact and get me through the next eight months - until my next exam. Charmaine, thank you for your common sense and excellent customer service. All managers should be so practical and solution focused. read more
