The Optometry Dept personnel at Lenscrafters in Waldorf, MD were professional and courteous. However, when it came to ordering my new glasses, l experienced inadequate service that failed to meet basic expectations for this high-end eye wear store. It was either the wrong size, the tint and out of stock frames issues l had to deal with. Each issue involved waiting 2-3 wks before it was resolved. The personnel on the whole were courteous and professional. My main issues are with the frames/lenses production servicer they use. Much needed improvements with their company. read more

Nice New high priced store but the sales rep needs restoration. I was met at the door with proper greeting but quality service ended there. Rep made it crystal clear that it's all about the $$$. She exuded a just buy and go vibe that instantly made me question why I might spend hundreds of dollars at LensCrafters (LC). I browsed the inventory which was nice. I noticed that the prices for some of the same frames where higher than those at VisionWorks. LC had more models of each brand but again, they are priced much higher. When I asked about price matching the snob said "That's Them" smirked and walked away. I browsed the inventory noting the model #s of frames that I liked and politely left. I did see frames that were also available at VisionWorks. So again, I compliment the nice shiny new store and remind LC that presentation is important but customer service is crucial (especially in today's economy). I got my exam at VisionWorks and planned on filling my prescription at LC because that's were I purchased my last pair of glasses (when LC was in the mall). I may have made the purchase at LC, if not for the lil snob they have on the showroom floor. So LC HiHo, NoGo back to VisionWorks goes My Dough. I 'm sure that I'm just one of many that has encountered this individual. You got a nice new store but your rep needs to be upgraded. I'd rather enjoy a burger at Mickey D's than pay top dollar to be snubbed at a so-called nice restaurant. My stars reflect the service, not the facility! read more

I came in to buy new glasses. I also had two old pair in need of repair. Kelley was very patient as I looked around for new frames. He also repaired both of the glasses I had brought in - one of which was literally broken in half. All for no charge. The fitting for my new glasses was fast! So dissappointed with this whole experience... ok story time.. So with the new year I decided I would take advantage of my eye care insurances deep discounts and get myself a new pair of frames. I live 10 minutes from the mall so i thought well lens crafters .. I set up the appointment first available was 9am January 21st I get there and the MALL IS CLOSED until 10 am... so i return at 10 to be told i no showed and would have to reschedule for 3 weeks away.. apparently there is some secret entrance that customers dont know about.. ok bet... So i took my talents down into DC to Vision works who was able to get me in 2 days later for the eye exam. Unfortunately Visionworks does not sell the Rayban Meta Frames.. so I took my prescription and went back to Lens Crafters who does... thinking well maybe the sales people would do a little better on service. I walk in... a nice young lady and I think the guy was like a sales lead or something was extremely helpful placing my order and taking my money also upselling me on things i had no clue even existed..... I ordered my Frames on January 23, 2025..... Today as I post this February 11, 2025... I still do not have my glasses... Ive called a couple times and been straight lied to... "this says they shipped yesterday so they should be in between 3-5 today" is what i was told on 3 separate occasions.. SO we are looking at 20 days for some frames that aree pretty much available EVERYWHERE else but taking nearly a month because I have prescription lenses...???? Im sure the store has nothing to do with the delay but honesty and setting proper expectations gets you so much further with this guy... or if they truly shipped over a week ago how about someone do the diligence and find out what the ACTUAL delay in shipment is... they had better not semd me one of those "how did we do" surveys... read more

The worst service I ever had from am eyecare provider. Do not recommend them they schedule my exam and did not tell me it would be remote in advance and the tech taking the pre Dr screening a male chubby gentleman had the worst customer service... It was rushed on a Friday last appointment , don't schedule them if you don't want to work and help people.. read more

Got there like 11:15. Told that next appt was at 12:20, so I booked it. The girl booking was curt. Couldn't get a nice attitude from her if you tried, but I thought, I'll get something to drink and the time will go by quickly. I wasn't even seen (by a doctor virtually) until past 1:40, over an hour and 20 minutes later! Got out super late, and I had to take medicine in a timely manner, which I missed. Couldn't even get frames because I had to leave. I've been getting glasses since the age of 7. Usually, it's 20 min from start to finish, so I never thought I'd arrive home so late. If I had known at 11 that the appt was actually at 1:30, I would have booked another day. Give people a choice at least. If I arrived to an appt an hour and a half or more late, I would lose my appt, right? So I don't understand why disregarding people's time is taken so lightly. Let people know ahead of time that you're backed up. It's the right thing to do. I wasn't even told while I was waiting that you were backed up. I had to ask. I also felt a little uneasy about being upsold on certain things, (like unnecessary SURGERY) and my record reflecting incorrect as well as missing information. Also, I was told that I have cataracts and if it runs in the family. When I said I was not told that the time before, she said I've had them for at least 20 years and that "We all get them after 45. We just don't tell you if you don't complain about not seeing". WHAT? If "we all get them", why ask if it runs in my family? I was offered surgeries, and "state-of-the-art" treatments that "only LensCrafters has". Also, I was told that my eye pressure was good, but I can lose my vision if I wake up with a headache, and they have something for that, so to go immediately. Good grief with the scare tactics!! Oh, almost forgot... and then she said she's def recommending "in writing" to get sunglasses/transition b/c the sun can blind me. Well, that's why lenses have UV protection, don't they? And lady, I work at night and sleep when the sun is out. I'm the nimble-witted vampire your mother warned you about. You don't fool me. Stop upselling. Are you a doctor or a peddler? BUYER BEWARE: DO NOT PURCHASE FROM COMPANY!! Zero Stars!! Absolutely NO STARS!!! Unfortunately, this office is still the same. The same unprofessionalism at the front desk that other spoke about. The more I spoke to her, the more the price for various services changed. At one point the eye exam was covered by the insurance but by the time I questioned the very high costs/fees, and just asked for a copy of the prescription - the office manager says the exam costs $45. Smh. It was obvious that the office manager was determined to make us pay out of pocket for something REGARDLESS of our insurance. When I repeated I only wanted a copy of the prescription, she became very unprofessional and condescending. It was beyond ridiculous and I would NEVER recommend any person, most especially a person of color! read more

The manager at this location is condescending, flippant and lacks professionalism. I too would add that Mrs. Hastings displays very derogatory and racial inflammatory behaviors. Under no circumstances will I take my business there again, nor will I recommend this location. She has had more than one complaint about her behavior yet LensCrafters continues to keep her as an employee. I came in here for an exam because I hadn't had one in a couple of years. The receptionist was sweet and helpful. She only had some difficulty finding my insurance (not her fault). It kind of dragged out the process but once it went through I was seen by the optometrist and she did the run of the mill tests. My eyesight has stayed the same so I was in and out pretty quickly. Checking out my contacts took some time however because there was only one person working the check out line and it seems their computer system runs slow. I had an eye exam for contact lenses several weeks ago and they doctor said she would follow up with me when the lenses came in for try on. I have not heard from anyone there and when I call I get an automated service that hangs up on me everytime. I'm going to request a refund for my eye exam charge. ANNOYED read more

Terrible service! If you want to place an order and wait for an extremely long period of time for your frames, this is the place for you. The chunky male employee with the long thin greying ponytail is unprofessional at best, rude to a fault, and biased. There is an older woman who works there with a limp who tries to be helpful but her efforts are overshadowed by the chunky male and the overall oddness of this place. When they are short staffed they close the gate to the store no matter what time it is even though the mall and all other stores are open. You have to ask them to let you in. You are met with grunts and impatience. I stopped by to pick up my late eyeglass order which had finally arrived only to be met with these gates and the chunky male with an attitude. Do not patronize this place. You will be extremely frustrated. The product is okay but it isn't worth this degree of agitation to obtain it. Go somewhere else, trust me. read more

I had my initial appointment with LensCrafters in WALDORF, MD for an annual eye exam on 21 Jun and as of today 13 Dec, I still don't have a contacts lenses prescription. This was my first and last time that I will ever go to LensCrafters for an eye exam. It has been an absolute nightmare. I am on the 3rd doctor, as the two previous doctors are no longer there. The second doctor I saw, Dr . Brian Taylor failed me totally. He could never get my prescription right for my contact lenses. I even provided my previous prescription, as he requested to use for reference. He totally ignored it and kept giving me sample of contact lenses that were of no use to me at all. I rely totally on corrective lenses for my vision and my daily life, i.e., read, work, every aspect of my life has been impacted. I was given a prescription for glasses that I purchased for $309 that are of no use, as the prescription was wrong. I am highly upset. They knew that they don't have a full time optometrist but yet kept scheduling customers for eye appointments. I have had so many appointments that I have lost count. I have taken off work for some, fighting through rush hour traffic to get to an appointment on time. You can expect to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour to be seen. They don't even have a full time optometrist. Dr Yee who has been great and only comes to WALDORF 2-3 times a week and they pack her schedule. Then I was left a voicemail message asking about rescheduling an appointment from a date that I was not scheduled for. They play a lot of cat and mouse at this LensCrafters, especially when dealing with them on the phone. read more

I was referred here after having trouble with the MVA eye test whilst renewing my license. They told me I needed an in depth test, and an eye doctor could decide if I needed glasses. I went here and they did a test and said I needed glasses, and sold me a pair which I paid out the nose for because I didn't have insurance. A year later, lost the glasses and went to get another pair from a different optometrist in Arlington. She said "Your vision meets the requirements for the state of MD, the previous DR. Should have just given you a signed note to take to the mva". I was incensed. I paid a ridiculous amount for those glasses, and I put a vision plan on my insurance. She told me to come back and take a vision test again when my license was due for renewal and she would give me a note if I passed instead of selling me glasses. This place should be ashamed. This is why healthcare and sales should not be a part of the same equation. read more

The manager that assisted me on March 30, 2018 at 4pm lied to me to get me to pay full price to replace my daughter's glasses that was under warranty. It wasn't for the quick action of my wife - who got the glasses while I was deployed - that our daughter's glasses was still under warranty until April 19, 2018. The manager stated that the warranty long expired months ago to convince me to pay $299.99. I ended up paying a co-pay of $45.00. This manager is unethical and racist from a previous post. I will be reaching out to Lenscrafter's corporate Headquarters to full a complaint and to complain to the Maryland Attorney Generals Office Consumer Affairs. The manager's action will not go unnoticed and she will be held accountable for her actions. If you were racially profile or believed to be incorrectly charged, I would make a complaint to Lenscrafters Corporate. read more

Unfortunately, yelp doesn't let you score a business as a zero. All I can say is buyer beware and if you have Tricare or Fed government insurance this is definitely not a place you want to use. They will try everything in the book to upcharge you on crap that you don't need and then provide lenses that are substandard. My lenses didn't last a year and now I've had to revert to previous sets of glasses that were made by reputable companies. So my advice is to not buy from these SWINDLERS, HUCKSTERS, AND SNAKE OIL SALESMAN, but if you do buy from them then absolutely ignore the flim-flam salesman that's trying to upcharge on everything. YOUR INSURANCE DETAILS THINGS IT WILL PAY FOR FOR A REASON. Almost forgot the absurdity of the clown Waldorf manager who offered to replace my 7-month-old lenses at a discount. Really, I should pay more to get another crap product that won't last a year. WOW! read more

Have Blue cross FEP Bluevision high, which covers exam, $150 allowance for frames and small deductibles for lens treatments. According to the table of copays Bluevision has, should have paid a total of $135, LensCrafters tried to charge me $481, even after I pulled up the table showing what the insurance covers. After declining new frames, they then tried to charge me $45 for the exam. This is for an in-network provider! It took me getting truly pissed off before they finally acknowledged that the exam is fully covered by insurance. Place is a total rip off. Only good thing I can say about the place is the optometrist seemed good. Should have looked at the Yelp rating before going! And now the story continues... Went to Walmart vision center today to get a pair of glasses and... drum roll, LensCrafters had my insurance tied up because they still had the pair of glasses as a pending charge against the insurance (but not yet collected on because they never sold them to us). Walmart Vision Center got FEP Bluevision to take the pending charge off so we could get our glasses using our insurance. LensCrafters was no help. HIGHLY recommend going anywhere else. read more

I had an appointment with Dr Bunion a couple weeks ago, she was pleasant but the prescription she wrote me was for single vision lenses. When I've worn progressive for years and brought my current prescription in with me during my appointment. I also told her I had progressive lenses during the exam as well. She seemed more interested in referring me to get lasik done than accurately writing my prescription. I called today and am told she won't be in the office during my non working hours after 5 during the week for at least the next week or so- so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back in for her to correct her mistake! And I live a 1/2 hour away which is an hour round trip and a waste of my gas to go in person. And I paid out of pocket for this exam as my insurance doesn't cover Lens Crafters! read more

I've worn glasses since I was 5 so I'm very used to the whole routine eye exam. I got to try the new Clarifye exam they offer, it was awesome. It does cost a bit extra, my insurance covers the total cost of a regular exam and discounted the extra digital imaging that is a part of the Clarifye exam, I spend a total of $31. The entire experience was amazing. Everyone was very helpful. This is the best prescription I've had in 22 years. read more
