Thank you! *** I went to Visionworks for my yearly eye appointment and ended up having a very frustrating experience. During my appointment, no one reviewed my prescription with me or explained the lens options. I specifically mentioned that I wanted progressive lenses, and since the price point we were given seemed affordable, I decided to purchase two pairs of glasses--one regular pair and one pair of sunglasses. About a week to a week and a half later, the glasses came in, but they were made with the wrong prescription. They were single-vision lenses, not progressive lenses like I had requested. The woman who originally helped us never went over the prescription details or explained the difference between the options, which could have prevented this entire situation. When we went back to pick them up, the gentleman working that evening was very helpful. It was the end of the day and he was closing, but he stayed to make sure we were taken care of and apologized for the mistake. I truly appreciated his effort. However, the solution required another $140 out of pocket to correct the lenses. If I had known the true cost with insurance for progressive lenses, I never would have purchased two pairs in the first place. At this point, I've spent over $450 and still cannot see properly because I've have to now wait another 1-2 weeks for the corrected glasses. This entire situation could have been avoided if someone had simply reviewed the prescription and lens options with me before placing the order. If there are prescriptions for both single-vision and progressive lenses, that absolutely should be discussed with the customer. Unfortunately, because of the poor communication and the fact that we had to pay extra to fix someone else's mistake, we will not be returning to this or any Visionworks location. read more

I decided to give Visionworks another try, and that was a mistake. I went in to pick up my glasses, only to find out they ordered the wrong ones. After waiting and expecting a smooth pickup, this was incredibly frustrating and a complete waste of time. There was no sense of urgency or accountability to fix the issue, and at this point, I've lost confidence in their attention to detail. This was our first experience with Visionworks. Our insurance changed so we had to find a new provider. After calling our insurance, we found this was one of the full service companies it covered. The store was busy, but neat other than the shipment of incoming completed orders they were sorting on the main reception desk. We went straight to the eye exam area in the back of the store. They checked us in and had the usual paperwork to fill out. They also were busy and running a few minutes behind, but they were moving patients through efficiently without a feeling of being rushed. The entire exam process took about 30 minutes from initial evaluation through retina scan. Everyone was very helpful and answered all questions. From there we moved to the front of the store to select frames and lenses. They had a vast selection but the associate helped in smoothly selecting the perfect frame. Ricky, the associate helping us, did all the measurements and we were out the door in no time. With our insurance our cost for everything was under $200 with polycarbonate bifocals (exam, frames, and lenses). We definitely recommend trying them out. read more

12/29/2025 I did not receive an informed consent for my signatures, was not informed of extra fees and exams nor my benefits prior to receiving care & exams. I expressed my disinterested in continuing with contacts once they had tried to bill me for a contact lens fitting fee and expressed I would like to prioritize frames over contacts (I also expressed this to the doctor & the front desk PRIOR to the exam & even told them each that I have not been able to wear contacts in Arizona). But because of my signature expressing interest in contacts, they said, they cannot remove or proceed with canceling the fitting fee though I had not done anything with contacts that day except apparently a portion of the exam that I was not made aware of was optional if I didn't want contacts, nor was informed I was receiving the exam.--I did express interest in speaking about any new contact technology, although, I expressed to the doctor I would like to prioritize glasses/frames over contacts as mine were 5years old. After they tried to bill me that contact lens fitting fee, I ended up explaining this to several staff members that I was not made aware of my benefits, not shown the fee schedule on the wall, which I was not aware of until after I had already been given the bill. Then also not given the contact lens policy that explains there is an extra fee that may not be covered my insurance until after they they billed me at the end-- after they snuck in that exam for contacts though I explicitly expressed I would like to prioritize my frames benefits & also that I haven't been able to wear contacts in AZ due to the dry weather & I still have a box of dailys at home. I then refused any & all contact lens services thereafter altogether, and they STILL insisted on preordering them & a follow up exam, then told me if I don't finalize in 90 days, I will then get charged again.. to which I firmly replied again, I DON'T WANT CONTACTS. And again they repeated that if I don't finalize my contacts in 90 days, I will get charged again. I said it again I do not want contacts & added I don't know how many times I have to say it before you understand.. It took a 5th person to walk in because he probably heard me having such a difficult time with the staff to finally hear me say I don't want contacts, to which he said okay you don't want contacts, we won't continue to order them. I don't know what the result was because everyone seemed to be on a different page with everything, & kept holding me my signed waiver of interest in contacts, and financial responsibility, but did not understand what an INFORMED consent was. Very uneducated people that work here, covering up & not admitting to their mistakes. If you confront them they will lie that something else happened & back each other up but because they don't know what they're even talking about, their defensive arguments are easy to poke holes in. Still walked away after all that, unsure if they will still try to order my contacts & try to charge me due to my "signature". Potential consumers please beware of hidden fees, or other deceptive business practices. Also being billed for unused services (fitting/eval). There seems to be enough people on Yelp with the same complaints that we can start a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT for their hidden fees, & other deceptive business practices. read more

The assistant who helped with my exam wrote my prescription wrong and even after I confirmed with the doctor they continued to fill my prescription incorrectly for ONE WHOLE YEAR. The most recent order I placed was "lost" for weeks and they were completely unapologetic. Amber the "manager" was so rude to me when I was just asking questions confirming my order. DO NOT COME HERE FOR CONTACTS! My family and I (all 5 of us) scheduled back to back appointments. They tried upselling us for everything. I was the only one recieving contacts so I had to pay a "contact lens fitting fee." With 5 family members, a comprehensive eye exam should've taken 30 minutes EACH! Instead they rushed us through the "pre exam" which took 15 minutes TOTAL for all 5 of us. Then they put us all in one very hot and stuffy room only to wait 30 minutes for the doctor to arrive. His exam consisted of "which is better 1 or 2...3 or 4...etc." he didn't check for color blindness, ask medical history, or even look into all of our eyes. The exam with the doctor took 30 minutes TOTAL for all 5 of us. That's not comprehensive, that's relying on your machines and not doing a thorough exam for children and adults. I told the doctor that my last prescription was not accurate (HE wrote me a prescription for higher power soft contacts vs informing me and putting me in soft contacts for astigmatism because toric lenses hurt my eyes). So I ended up having a very hard time with blurriness and not being able to read with the contacts he had prescribed the year before. I couldn't even wear them because they were too strong and gave me headaches, I ended up having to wear contacts and glasses that were 2 years old and a lower power to be able to see and read. The doctor argued with me that it was because I was getting older. No, sir, it's because you took me from -5.0 to -5.75 when I didn't need that. So after he rushed me through the exam, I had to ask for the trial pair I'd paid for with the "contact lens fitting fee." The tech says "well I don't even know if we have them. Excuse me, what?! I just paid for them you better find some. Well the tech finds them and just hands them to me and walks away. He doesn't show me where to wash my hands, give me a contact lens case, or even show me which one was for which eye. This time the doctor had put me in soft contacts for astigmatism, which I've never worn before. As soon as I put them in I knew immediately that they were not right the right prescription or fit (This time the doctor had put me in soft contacts for astigmatism, which I've never worn before). But apparently a "contact lens fitting fee" is just a fancy term they throw around because NO ONE checked to see if the contacts fit properly. I had to flag down the doctor and told them I couldn't see. He started in on my age again and that he wouldn't put me into an old prescription and that I just needed to "give my eyes time to adjust." Excuse me, WHAT?! You gave me the wrong prescription last time and instead of owning up to it you're going to keep increasing the prescription to CYA. The least he could've done was another exam to check if I was seeing well with the contacts. I kept telling him over and over I had NO problems seeing or reading with my 2 year old glasses and contacts but that these (and the ones he gave me the year before) were too strong and blurry. I don't know what part of this he didn't understand. I do not need readers without my glasses on, or with my 2 year old glasses or contacts prescription from PEARL VISION, why would I need it now?! On top of that, we get a call that the kids glasses are ready for pick up. Our two other kids glasses looked and fit well but our son's (13) glasses were HUGE on him. They didn't "fit" him for the glasses. His old glasses were a size 48 and the new glasses were 55! He looked like a little kid trying to wear a grown man's glasses. We ended up having to search all over the store for glasses that were a size 52 and reorder and wait another 2 weeks! This was a terrible experience all around and Visionworks has lost our business forever. This is completely unacceptable! read more

It was a mixed bag. The optometrist did a wonderful job, however the young man who did the prescreen/pretest Was later heard saying to his coworker, I think I'm actually figure this thing out. Not installing much confidence. Jordan the optician was wonderful. Very knowledgeable, and knew his stuff. The selection of glasses and the price was very good, if if it your needs. Unfortunately having really bad eyes, their best lens, high index, wasn't as thin as you could get elsewhere. This Company is most unprofessional in eye examination scheduling. I had a confirmed appointment with the Villages of Queen Creek location that was scheduled during my prior examination for Thursday, 12-07/2023 at 2:15pm. Today, I received a voicemail stating no times were available and I'd have to reschedule. This is an Unacceptable Business Practice by your company. Rescheduling because you are overbooked after I'd already set a time and day is not acceptable! Today was my 3rd experience with this office. I have been thoroughly impressed each time. The staff is friendly and kind and work quickly and efficiently. I've had a lot of trouble switching over to a new insurance policy, various doctors offices have been impatient, rude and unwilling to do any extra work on my behalf to help me get re-established with a new insurance policy. Sydney and her fellow office mates were SO patient, helpful and nice about switching everything over today. I even handed them my dental insurance card accidentally and Sydney didn't skip a beat, figuring it all out on her own without one complaint, eye roll or any of the impatience that has been thrown my way at other specialists offices. I love it here! I got prescription glasses a few months ago from Jessica and Ben, and I ordered prescription sunglasses today with Shannon's or (Sharon's?) help. Everyone is always so patient and kind. They walk you through the insurance details and what's covered. Your glasses are ready not even a week later, and they text you when they are available for pickup. Shannon was really nice too - I got there twenty minutes before closing today, and she didn't make me feel unwelcomed or rushed. She still took the time to explain the sunglasses process to me, gave me all the time I wanted to try frames, and told me the next steps. Great staff! read more

I've gone twice to this office for contacts. Due to a death in the family and my busy work schedule I was unable to order my Contacts for three months, but when I called back in January, they wanted to do a brand new eye exam! I don't see why they want to charge again for another eye exam. How much have my eyes changed in three months? Why charge my insurance again this year for a service that was just done a few months ago? It just doesn't make sense to me! I've literally had my eyeglasses for almost 2 years. Yes, I'm aware that I'm supposed to have an eye exam yearly, and here I am having to prolong that even further. They won't take an appointment after 4:30. I took time off of work for funeral and won't be able to take more time off anytime soon. Besides, I've had two appointments with them already!! I went into Visionworks last week for an eye appointment, and the doctor and staff were absolutely amazing. After I got my prescription, I went up to the front to order my glasses, and was helped by Chelsea. We ended up having an issue with our HSA but Chelsea was absolutely amazing and there the whole time to help us out. Time was really of the essence because my insurance was expiring the last day of September, so today! I was never in the dark, I always knew what next steps to take because Chelsea always kept me informed and up to date. I was just in this location today and heard the doctor yelling and being completely unprofessional towards staff AND patients. I just went in to look at frames, and I'll just say, I will never ever go back there. I asked the front staff what that doctors name was and they said Dr A. This doctor needs to be looked into immediately. I have never experienced such hostile behavior from a doctor. Complete psycho. I will report her to any one who will listen. This place was fantastic we got a last min about after our old eye doc messed up with our appointment and we had to get in since we were low on contacts. The receptionist, I think her name was Maria was quick to get me into the soonest appt she was able to and seemed super sincere about my restrictions. School sports and life in general we got in with the doc he addressed our concerns and got us in and out in a good time frame. Dr. is knowledge and friendly. Nancy in the office is kind. I give 3 out of 5 b/c of their follow up policy. The clinic would not give me my RX if I did not attend a follow up appointment even though my eyes are FINE! The sample contacts they prescribed me worked great for what I needed but they wouldn't let me re order b/c I did not do a follow up appointment. Since we are living is this C19 time I feel these "follow up" appointments are unnecessary if a patient is satisfied with their RX. I'll be going elsewhere for my eye needs. Also, very difficult to get a hold of on Saturdays (nobody answers the phone) and your call gets booted to an automated robot. read more

As a previous reviewer noted, I too was seen by Dr. A. The only eye exam she performed on me was the "Which is better...one or two...two or three...one or two...?" NO review of medical history. NO inspection of my current glasses/prescription. NO check for color blindness. NO binocular slit-lamp exam. NO keratometry test. She didn't even ask me if I was experiencing any eye or visual problems. It was zero surprise that this incompetence lead to my new prescription being incorrect! I'd completely wasted my time and lost my eye exam co-pay, but thankfully the staff kindly and promptly issued a full refund for the glasses I'd purchased. It should be noted that Dr. A. is a rotating optometrist and while she was brisk with me, I witnessed (and overheard) her scolding an associate and another patient. The behavior was certainly unprofessional, but her attitude and lack of quality patient care are unacceptable! (The experience made me so distrustful of this location that I waived the offer to be re-examined by a different optometrist.) read more

My experience here has been lukewarm every time, but out of convenience, we've gone back - this week was our 3rd yearly visit. They were pushy about paying for the eye photos rather than getting ours dilated, saying we'd be there for an hour and a half if the three of us chose to have our eyes dilated. 2/3 of us had the pictures done. They were slow to get us in/ back. The receptionist at the optometry desk was friendly, but sick, and put on a mask only after coughing several times. The person up front, Jordan(?) ignored my son and I while we waited to be helped with frames. The eye doctor made me feel uncomfortable with how in my personal space he was. I normally don't take the time to write reviews, poor experience or not, but I will never go back to this location again. read more

I went to this center for an eye exam last year for a regular eye exam. During the exam, I also requested an exam for contact lenses. As I have never wore contacts in the past, I didn't know what to expect. I was prescribed combination of near and far sighted contacts (one in each eye). I believe it is called monovision. When I was fitted for the contacts, I expressed concern that I could not see distance in my left eye. I was told the dominate eye would take over and I just needed to get used to it. After about 9 or ten months, I stopped wearing the left contact lenses because i never was able to see very clearly up close. My vision was better without the contact in. Fast forward to 12/27/23. I went back for an exam to update my prescription. Prior to the exam, I informed the optometrist that I stopped wearing the left lense because I can see better without it. He said there are people that do that, but it wasn't extremely common. After the exam, he told me the left eye measurement from my previous exam was wrong. I said that is probably why the previous prescription was giving me problems and he agreed. As I was checking out, I informed the clerk I was given the wrong prescription during my previous exam and she just shook her head and said sorry. I asked if my contact fitting fee could be waived and they said they wouldn't because they completed the exam. I figured that since I was given the wrong prescription on my last exam and spent hundreds of dollars on the wrong lenses that was the least they could do. I figured wrong! Please be advised to make sure your prescription is correct when using this company. Additionally, a dilation is included with the exam I had scheduled, but informed me they were too busy to complete during my visit. However, for an upcharge of $40.00, there was another procedure similar to an eye dilation that could be completed the same day. I'm not sure why they don't schedule everything at one time since it is included with the exam. read more

Recently I ordered two pairs of progressive lens glasses to help with reading and near distance post cataract surgery. For whatever reason, they didn't work for me. Another attempt was made and the second round also did not work. Five Stars because unlike other companies, the staff's concern was about my vision, not a sale. Absolutely nothing changed. Same brand of contacts. Same prescription. After the exam they game me a trial pair. Then the Dr took me back to check them out. I have insurance so I should only have a 15 dollar co pay. But my insurance doesnt cover a so called fitting fee. Which was almost 40 bucks. I was very confused by a fitting fee because 1. I was never told I would be charged for it. 2. Why do I even need a fitting when you didn't change my brand of contacts. I will never go back. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. It's been an awful experience. My eyeglasses went in on May 1st and I got them back on July 11. FOUR times they had to be redone. TWO optometrist exams, with him telling me on the second visit my astigmatism had gotten better. In two weeks?? Apparently, he didn't graduate at the top of his class. One time the lenses had 1 side off 5 mm and 1 side 3 mm. The next time the lenses had the vision center skewed to the left. Twice now they have distortion. Mind you, my old glasses had perfect vision and one of these frames I am reusing, so there is NO excuse. I have them back now and they still have distortion. I will NOT give them back to them again. I will change to Walmart and get a new script. I have talked to their supervisor twice and told them I was escalating to her supervisor if they didn't find them. All they can ever tell you is, they are at the factory. They cannot track your glasses anywhere. They don't use any tracking system. The people are nice, but the service sucks. We showed up and they all of the sudden didn't accept our insurance. They offered us a 35% discount if we paid out of pocket and apologized. We have insurance that covers 100%...not much of an offer.
