It's the last day of the year and I need to use up my FSA dollars so Visionworks it is. I was on a mission for clear eyeglasses and found a pair that I liked. The lady helping me answered all my questions and even gave me a sweet deal for both my eyeglasses and some contacts. After going to LensCrafters and America's Best, Visionworks was the one in network for my VSP Insurance. The lady helping was able to use my insurance towards the contacts and 60% off on my eyeglasses. I also needed progressive lenses along with Bluelight filter and anti-glare. They have a good selection of some off brands and also Ray Bans, DKNY, Michael Kors, etc. they don't really carry the luxury brands like Gucci, or Versace so if you are looking for those you won't find them here. I've always gone to Visionworks for eyeglasses as they usually have pretty good prices for decent glasses. This one is located inside Gurnee Mills Mall close to entrance J. read more

Came in the front desk guy I believe he was the store manager seemed annoyed with me at first due to it took me some time to recall certain numbers and addresses since I'm new to the state. But I kept my patience. Maybe he was having a rough day. When I was finished with appt his attitude was better. The optometrist and optometry tech were great! I didn't get the optometry tech name. Went in to get glasses and the customer service was honestly awful. I clearly asked for a specific thing and was told that's what I'd be getting. When my glasses came in, they were wrong. Instead of fixing it or taking responsibility, they straight up said they "never said that" and acted like we made it up. Even though we literally asked and confirmed it BEFORE the purchase was made. The attitude was rude, dismissive, and lowkey gaslighting. Mistakes happen, but lying about what was said and treating customers like they're the problem is not okay. If you care about clear communication or basic respect, I'd think twice before coming here. read more

Absolutely terrible at this location. Appointment was scheduled for 4:15 I checked in at 4 and was not see by the dr till 5:15. What is the purpose of having an appointment time if you're not going to be seen within 20 minutes of that appointment time. I am livid about my experience. At least let people know it's going to a hour before they will be seen. I had to be somewhere by six and I thought a 4:15 appointment time would have been okay but apparently not. Do not recommend this location at all. If I could give 0 stars I would. Also my insurance covers up to 60 dollars for exams but somehow I still paid 55 dollars for an exam which doesn't make sense because I'd the exam is 99 bucks that would be a 39 dollar difference. The doctors here have always been reliable and are friendly in my experience, however the environment is intimidating and one of the ladies that works there is always rude to my mother and I. I had ordered contacts both here and the Walmart Vision Center, and the prices here are way overpriced when comparing the two. The contacts were both dailies for 90 days, and the difference in quality is 100% unnoticeable if there is one, and the contacts at Walmart were 50$ cheaper. My whole family is switching over because of this. I was also confused because I had gotten a prescription with Walmart and wanted to fax it over to VW, but because the brand of contacts I ordered at Walmart was not available at VW, they told me the prescription meant nothing.... which makes no sense at all because a prescription is just a number, not tied to a specific brand. So it felt like I was being lied to so they can take more of my money and have me get re-prescribed there. Anyways, switch to Walmart read more

I would give it 5 stars, but I didn't end up keeping the glasses, so until I investigate further, 4 stars it is. Here goes! Really friendly and helpful staff, and great selection for frames. The $19.99 eye exam is a steal! Easy entrance into the mall at entry J, then hang a right. The Dr. was great in listening to my concerns about glasses in the past not working great. The staff and manager then proceeded to work with me a TON on which types of lens to try, then they ordered and reordered, and after all that I was still able to get a full refund when my glasses just didn't work out. The frames were BOGO, but most will run you around $200, and that is not including the lens. The lens (price for 2) ranges from $99 for plastic, $150 mid range and $200 for high def. If you are still with me, that's about $400 for a pairs...technically for 2 pairs with the BOGO. Good luck! read more

Communication: Poor, Service: Disjointed, Cost to quality of product: High. Especially be aware of policy regarding late to a scheduled APT. Even if 5 min late they will make you wait and bump you 1 hour later due to next apt showing up on time without communicating this or giving you the choice of re schedule. A real time waster. This place scams their customers and tells the patients the wrong price for eye exams. We were supposed to pay $10 for the eye exam but were instead charged $49 and did not inform the patient about the extra charge for the picture of the eye. It's best to go see another doctor who knows what they're doing. Very dishonest place. read more

First time they gave me the wrong pair of glasses, 2nd it was the wrong prescription, and 3rd they've called me to pick up the new updated lenses and they couldn't find them and have me waiting half an hour for them to get fixed once again. I stopped into Vision Works in Gurnee Mills Mall to have the nose pads on two pairs of glasses (not purchased from VW) I owned. As they worked on them, I expected them to charge me about $10 or so for the service. I was pleasantly surprised when they told me "no charge". If there was an option for no stars, I would choose that! First off, when I went for my appointment the staff upfront were so rude, my girlfriend actually went to accuvision down the hall to see if they could get me in there while I was waiting. The dr. Was awesome! (The only thing going for that store). When I was checking out, I asked if I could order my contacts the week following my appointment, the guy said I couldn't bc I wouldn't get the discount so I decided ok. He said that they would be in no later than a week later. A week goes by, no phone call. So while I was at work the following week, my gf calls to ask if the contacts were in. The preceded to tell her that the warehouse didn't have my prescription. If you anything about ordering contacts that's BS. They forgot to order them!!!! So they do the nice thing and tell my gf they will over night them, and would call either one of us when they came in. No later than Thursday. No call once again. Gf calls yesterday to see if they are in, she's put on hold and stays on hold for 19 min. She hangs up calls back and says hen you're not busy call me back, the girl says "I'm so sorry let me check". The contacts were in, and I also get a trial pair (assuming bc they messed up). So we just went to go get my contacts today, an once again, very rude! The girl walks up to us yawning, like I don't want to deal with these ppl, and asks for my name. Comes back with an attitude, and I clearly see on my paperwork "DID THESE GET ORDERED???". As this girl is dealing with us, the guy manager comes over and says, she doesn't need the trial pair. I said why don't I get them, you didn't order my contacts the first time, they weren't here when they were supposed to be. I have never had such a bad experience in my life. I made 4 trips to the store . One person told one thing and another told me something else. It was a waste of my time and gas. This place may be fine if you have vision that just calls for simple corrective lenses,but not good if you have difficult prescription needs. On my first visit I left the store and about 20 minutes later someone called me and said my glasses were ready, then they gave me someone else's glasses . I was then told that I picked out a frame that wasn't good for no- line Bifocals. You think that the techs would tell you that to start with. They wanted me to pick a different style of frames so I did, when i picked them up they told me the glass wasn't cut right. That was the end of being patient for me, haven't received my credit yet either . read more

Had an amazing experience at this location! Went in to get my $19 exam and left with 2 pairs of glasses. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left I was glad I chose this place. Dr. Oneil was very nice and both the sales associate and manager were very helpful with helping me pick out my new glasses. Disappointed that I made a 10am appointment for my daughter and did not get into the room until 10:30am. Everyone acted like this was normal and no one apologized for us not being seen on time. She had to miss school for the appointment and I made the first appointment of the day so she could be seen quickly and miss a minimal amount of school. read more
