Revision ... the product failed in some fashion or another. That being said, the staff and manager that I felt with today were as helpful and patient as possible. They made all efforts to right what was wrong, and for that I'm appreciative. Hopefully the next pair of lenses lasts longer than the first pair did. Update, Got a comment back from the facility... the scratch resistant coating STILL isn't up to my liking as I'll need to come back again with scratched lenses. My experience with Pearle Vision was extremely disappointing. I was prescribed the wrong lenses -- I specifically requested bi-focals, not progressives -- yet when I tried to have the issue corrected, I was treated with disrespect and disregard. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or working with me to resolve it, I was repeatedly ignored and made to feel as though the problem was my fault. Despite paying $1,775, a 2nd appointment with them and again was ignored.. until I had to leave and my calls for assistance were not returned. The manager, Lana, failed to follow up after several requests, and when I called again, I was abruptly hung up on. I have since contacted the Better Business Bureau and Pearle Vision Headquarters, as I need my funds to go somewhere else for prescription glasses... How HORRIBLE is that !!! I have been having some issues with my left eye. It has been watering a lot, getting extremely dry and when I remove my contact lens, I had experienced severe pain. After reading a few google reviews, I decided to call Pearle Vision of Gurnee. Pearle Vision was easy to contact, easy to set up an appointment with and they took me the same day. Upon arrival, I checked in and was called in about 5 minutes later. The girl who took care of me, was so sweet and knowledgeable. I believe her name was Ashlyn. She answered all my questions and made it a pleasant visit. The Doctor (Eugene Berkovich) I had never felt compelled to revisit the same eye doctor until now. I am always on the hunt for bargains and sales but I believe I am here to stay. I had so many questions and concerns and he made me feel very important and when I was afraid, he was kind. I am very sensitive about my eyes. He even popped a few jokes. He told me what the problem was and even showed me a few photos. He talked me through the best way to heal my "infection." By the end of the visit he gave me a discount and he gave me the medication free of charge. He gave me a few other packages. I am a for sure client now. Due to the shutdown there were not a lot of places available for my daughters eye exam. She is 20 and went to Pearle for her exam. She said the doctor was very nice however the office staff was pushy and rude to her. She has not worn glasses before and they were giving her a hard time about the amount of glasses she was trying in. My daughter is VERY polite and picked out a pair of glasses that she did not like because she felt pressured. When she got home she told me what happened and that she ordered a pair of glasses online. I wasn't going to pay for a pair of glasses that she wasn't going to wear so I called to cancel the order. The man who I eventually talked to was very rude to me on the phone as well. He told me they would cancel but I had to bring the card in that day. I did do that and was refunded most of my money for the glasses. I did not look at the reviews before I booked my appointment. I wish I would have. I am very disappointed with policies regarding contact returns. When I FINALLY received my PARTIAL order of contacts I immediately wrote an 'L' or 'R' on the boxes so I wouldn't mixed them up. After opening ONE box and using ONE pair (dailies) I discovered that I could not see clearly out of one eye. No big deal - the wrong strength must have been ordered. I went in with my PARTIAL order to return the wrong ones when I was told that because I DAMAGED the boxes by WRITING on them THEY COULD NOT BE RETURNED!!!!!! So now I have almost a year worth of useless contacts and am out several hundred dollars?!?!? The corporate office will be contacted regarding this locations horrible policy, and lack of patient/customer care. I've been wearing glasses for 20 years and I've shopped at many eye glass stores. This store was by far the absolute WORST. I just got off the phone w/ a Tiffany who works there. She was not helpful, did not care that her establishment had ruined my glasses and unapologetic. I went in Fri 09/13 to have my frames adjusted. A manager there (obviously either untrained or ill equipped to handle the task) melted my lenses. I now have severe eye strain & headaches due to this malpractice. I called today to get the status of my replacement lenses & I was told the earliest is Thursday. This is unacceptable. I asked Tiffany to expedite the order via UPS Red & she refused. I will never use their services again. I will also make it my mission to tell everyone I know who shops in Gurnee, IL about my horrible experience. Why is there no accountability? Not a bad place for glasses, although a little pricey. Went here with my mom and they had a buy one / get one free sale going on. Overall it was around $700 for the two pairs... the frames were reasonable but the lenses were like $400! I don't buy a lot of glasses but that seems like a lot. I've been going to this location for 2 years, and the service was exceptional the first time around. The doctor is great, but the people that work the front in are not. I went in for yearly examine saw the Dr. Berkovich he was great like always. After my examine I went pick out my glasses. Was sized for them and was told they would contact me in a week to pick them up. Week went by and I hadn't heard from them. So I went up to the store. Once I got there, I was notified that they had no record of picking out glasses. Which wasn't a big deal. I actually ended up picking out a different pair. So fast forward to a week later they call, and tell me my glasses was ready. So I went to pick them up. When I got there I tried them on, and instantly notice something wasn't right with my right lenses. It felt as if it wasn't any medicine in the lense. So I closed my left eye "which I know you're not supposed to, and I couldn't see anything out of the left eye". I informed the young lady that was assisting me, and she said that's impossible. That they double check the lenses. I go to tell her something isn't right, and she tells me it's just cause I have a new prescription. That it takes time to adjust to. I took her word, and left. Against my better judgement. I have not been able to wear my new glasses since I've got them, and plan on going in. To have the doctor check them when I get free time. read more

I am extremely disappointed with this Pearle Vision. I had been going to another Pearle Vision for years and since they did not have a selection for me with the long arms I decided to give this Pearle Vision a chance. What a mistake and nightmare. I went to pick up my glasses the first time and went outside and I paid for transition lenses and they did not transition. The manager said we will send them back and make this right. The second time, I went to pick up my glasses and only one lens transitioned, once again the manager said we will make this right. The third time I picked them up and they would not transition while inside the car. I called the store and the manager told me that it would cost me $250.00 because my insurance would not pay for it. I called my insurance and they said it was covered with the transition lenses and that the store never requested it. I called back to the store and left several messages and the manager would not return my call. I was instructed NOT to return to this Pearle Vision and my insurance took care of the problem and sent my glasses to another Pearle Vision so I would not have to deal with the negligence of this location. Finally 4 months in the making I have my glasses. Also this Pearle Vision charged me a fee for polished lenses that I didn't need done to my glasses since they are fully framed. The order processing time was far shorter than expected and even though I was there on a very busy Saturday, the wait time to pick up my two pairs of glasses wasn't bad at all! Dr Berkovich is fantastic at what he does. I have been to other Pearle locations (2 different ones) and the tests were very basic at the other places. Dr Berkovich took the time to go beyond the normal string of tests and even threw in a high res color photo of my eyes for free! He explained everything very clearly and really took his time. The prescription is perfect and my sight is way better now that I got the correct prescription. Lana then sat me down, made sure my insurance went through and I was out of there at a super reasonable cost. I usually get my contacts online but after they showed me the discounts it was right there with the online guys. First off, let me start by saying they do have good quality glasses compared to other places I've been to in the area...... BUT, I am a huge price matcher... and I will say that they are extremely over priced! I found several pairs of glasses for my wife there and they were charging anywhere from $200-$350. Most of the pairs we were looking at were so much cheaper on designeroptics.com. As low as $70 for the same exact pairs!!!! That's just nuts! Now let's move on to their customer service. Immediately I got a high class vibe when I walked into this place. And it obviously showed off of the staff. We brought our kids with us, and naturally they we're just kinda checking out the glasses in the kids section. Now they were being a little noisy, and I tried my best to keep them quiet while we shopped. Some bald putz that worked there kept rolling his eyes and shaking his head at us because of my kids. He was also kind of snooty towards my wife, which frankly started to really piss me off. The guy was obviously annoyed with us. At this point I was just ready to leave. So my wife picked out a pair of glasses in which she liked and I politely asked the lady behind the counter if they happen to price match with the website I had mentioned. She of course said no which I expected but was willing to go as much as 40% off. I decided to just order from the website (which by the way includes free shipping). I purchased three new pairs of glasses as my prescription changed-sun, regular, and work. I had an issue with one pair. In less than 5 minutes, they said no problem, they will remake at no charge. I have had many bad experiences in the past with eye doctors. I always went with whoever was the cheapest. After being told by several area eye doctors that I was not a good candidate for contacts, I asked my coworker who she saw and how come she had contacts, even though her vision was way worse than mine. She recommended me to Dr. Ho. at Pearle Vision. I scheduled an appointment with super easy online, since she was available to see me after work. When I arrived to my appointment, the staff was happy and cheerful, which frankly scared me, since in all my previous appointments I was greeted as if my presence was a burden to them. One of the girls working said she'd "pre-test" me before I saw the doctor. I had no idea what this meant. Until she throughly explained the process to me. Afterwards I waited only a few brief moments until Dr. Ho, personally came out and greeted me. She was warm and welcoming and extremely through. I told her I desperately wanted contacts and she said ok......I was shocked! She ordered me a pair of contacts in my prescription and scheduled me to come back for a training when they arrived. On that next visit I was scared and nervous, until I met Diana, the assistant manager who was appointed to be the lucky person to teach me. She calmed all my fears, was patient, caring, and enthusiastic about my being a first timer with contacts. After 30 mins I was a pro at putting my new bifocal contacts in and out. Diana said "why haven't you done this sooner?" I told her this was the first time I'd been given a chance. To this day I love my contacts, Dr. Ho., and all the friendly help full staff.
