Yelpers, I went to this location to schedule an eye exam and the African American eye exam associate was rude and intolerable. Her eyes stayed fixated on the computer when I approached as she indifferently asked if I was paying with insurance. I asked if they take my insurance to which she stated, "oh I've never heard of that". Huh? Aren't you supposed to look it up instead of depending on your memory/ intelligence to decide if it's accepted? I simply asked, "can you look it up"? She begrudgingly asked for my details and then gave me bogus information about other insurance I had used when I last purchased from there. Ma'am, please stop I've never used insurance when purchasing my glasses. She confirmed this fact after asking for my information again. After stating that without insurance the exam would be $130 I decided to try mine. She said, "do you have a card"? I said I know the information, it's called ---, what other information do you need"? She then looked to her coworker to ask her if she can help her tell me what was needed because "she keeps giving me the name". OMG, I was standing right there! I literally asked her what else she needed. I told her coworker never mind after the coworker attempted to explain what the rude employee needed. Visionworks, is this what what your service has come to? Ghetto and rude employees with zero customer service skills? She was mad that I interrupted whatever she was doing on the computer and lost the company probably about $500 in less than five minutes. Great job!! SMH read more

Online their hours indicate they close at 8pm. Google and Yelp (business claimed by owners and everything). They are not open until 8pm. They close at 7pm. They need to update their hours on google and Yelp, or do not claim your business. ! It says updated by business 3 months ago and I arrive at 7:10 to lights off? Frustrating. I originally had this review with one star. Then I remembered the staff that has helped me and how awesome they are. The staff I've worked with get five stars all day. read more

I hate when times online don't match true store hours. Beachwood location has open until 8pm on their website and on yelp but closes their doors at 7pm and God forbid they answer the phone or call you back with information. I'm gonna be really honest any place with glasses over $100 is just a scam. I was fresh out of high school and somehow they scammed me $800 for 2 pairs of glasses I never wear.. Glasses very similar are only $50-$100 bucks online.. Never stepping foot in one of these places ever again. Just a big waste of money. I am very displeased with my purchase. I asked if I could get a refund later over the refund time and they told me no. So now I have been trying to sell them for years and years never worn and no one wants them. read more

Annual eye exam time for the family! This is my second year using VisionWorks and I'm pretty sure we'll be returning for a 3rd. The ease of scheduling is one thing that stands out. Their website is very user friendly and allowed me to make appointments for the entire family in under 2 minutes. The calendar shows you all times that are available on your selected date, so you can see the options before you make a selection. When we arrived for the appointment, we were greeted and directed to the waiting area. In less than 1 minute, the first person was called back to begin their exam. It was awesome that they were so timely! We were through each exam at the scheduled time! The staff was kind and thorough. We had questions because our insurance changed this year. They were happy to assist. Only one person got new glasses and they arrived in about 4 days. read more

I went to this place mostly because my insurance was one of the participating insurance companies. I just needed a simple update for new glasses and was impressed from the time I called to make an appointment to the day of the appointment. Amazing experience. Super efficient and easy. Ran extremely on time and the doctor was great! But the girls at the desk S and S were incredible. They were beyond friendly, and made it such a welcoming experience! They talked to me after my appointment even further, and I felt like talking to friends! Per their website their location is open on Mondays until 6PM so I called at 4:30PM on a Monday (June 15th). Despite the receptionist answering almost immediately she maintained that they were not open on Mondays and that I would have to call tomorrow to receive prescription help. I'm not sure if that is an accurate description, but they either need to update the website to reflect their actual hours or perhaps consider employing people that are willing and able to help their long time customers. It worked out in the end though, I was able to find my prescription in my records and was actually able to order them online from a separate party for approximately 50% of the price that VisionWorks has offered. I also learned today that I do not want to support a business with such poor customer service, life is all about learning so I am thankful for that. read more

I really liked this optometrist and the staff. I only had to wait about 5 minutes for my appointment and the doctor was very good. The doctor suggested a new contact lens and told me to try it for a week or two before ordering. Most places want to just sell the product and don't worry whether you like it or not. Scheduling was very easy, as was rescheduling. The only drawback is they are inside the Beachwood Mall. It's best to go into the main entrance, then up the first escalator into the food court, then walk toward Saks Fifth Ave. Don't park at Saks right now because it's closed. It's about a 5 minute walk from the entrance to the office. read more

This was our first time at Visionworks in Beachwood Mall in Beachwood, Ohio. I have gone to LensCrafters for over 20 years. This time we needed glasses for our three-year-old. LensCrafters had very limited selection, maybe only one or two frames for our three-year-old. Of note, they referred us to an optician outside of the mall and across the street that wasn't even open that day (Saturday evening). Visionworks was actually in the same mall. Charles helped us and was very helpful. They have a good selection for kids' frames. He explained everything very clearly and in a detailed fashion. We were very pleased w/our experience there and would recommend them very highly, especially for childrens' frames. read more

I had a terrible experience here. Over the course of nearly 3 months, the staff here had to replace the lenses in my glasses 5 times...and they never got it right! They put in the wrong prescription and, twice, cracked the lenses while they were adjusting the frames. I'm finally returning the glasses and now have to start over somewhere else. This store is not cheap and DEFINITELY NOT the place to go if you have a difficult prescription - save yourself the time and stress and start somewhere else. read more

This review is only for the optical side (where they make your glasses). I had an excellent experience at the optometrists side of the business (where you get your eye exam), so that part was definitely 4 stars. -- Meanwhile -- Do yourself a favor - go somewhere else where they know more about how to make glasses! Amy (one of the optical people) was incredibly rude to us during the entire visit. We walked in and she barked as us, "I'll be with you when I can". We were there to pick up 2 pairs of glasses for myself. I have a very strong prescription, and have been wearing glasses at this strong prescription for over 15 years. Never, and I really mean never have I ever received such horrible glasses than those I received this time at VisionWorks. This is my first pair from VisionWorks. The frames I chose were slightly larger than my old pair of glasses. When I ordered the glasses, Christy did not have any idea which lenses to recommend to me considering my high prescription. I ended up getting the polycarbonate lenses (as opposed to the high index ones). When the glasses came in a week later, the prescription of the left lens of one pair was wrong, and Amy was very annoyed and treated me like dirt the entire time, saying things such as "Are you SURE you can't see out of it?" She resolved to order me another left lens for that pair, since her minor adjustments didn't seem to solve the problem. Meanwhile, the lenses of both sets of glasses I ordered came out incredibly thick (truly "coke-bottle" glasses), and it was so embarrassing - I literally could never wear those out of the house. If someone had told me they would look that bad, I would have picked different frames. Amy said, "Well, you know when you get a larger frame, the edges will be thicker, I mean your prescription is REALLY strong" (again in a nasty tone). As I mentioned before, I have NEVER had an issue with lenses or frames at any other place where I have ordered glasses. The glasses were so awful, and the service was just as bad. I will absolutely never be going back to VisionWorks considering what terrible knowledge the employees have of their products, and just how poorly they treat their customers. read more

Made a appointment on 10/24 evening online where I put all my information in.The next day I received a text asking me what's type of insurance I have?(important note the text didn't identify who was asking)So I google the phone# which came back Visionwork.So I decided to call in & speak with a live operator.She ask me all the same questions I did the night before.Came in on 10/28 for my appointment & rep had me wait 15 minutes to only tell me we don't accepted my vision insurance.I ask why wasn't that verify when I did the appt.online or when I call back on 10/25 & she didn't answer the questions.To make matter worst she suggested I call my insurance to see where I can go. I let know I contacted my insurance on 10-24 & Dr.Gordon was in my networks.Still no answer. Find that the company is not professional at all. This all could have been avoided if they did they job on 10-24 or 10-25 A wasted trip for nothing. read more
