Not helpful on the phone and the same can be said if you walk in. The staff is rude and give poor costumer service in person as well as on phone. You are treated not like a costumer but an inconvenience. This is the absolute best optical store I have dealt with in NY! I have been purchasing my glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses from Vision World in Ridgewood since I lived in Manhattan! Yes! The service is above and beyond at all times. I have sat on my glasses, dropped them as I have fallen out of a taxi, thrown them at my ex and.. no problem. Whatever the reason, Jesus and the wonderful ladies of Vision World fix them, clean them, replace them with no judgement and no questions. It doesn't get better than that! The service is first class. They ensure that I have my eyes tested every year and have a large selection of designer and incredibly affordable but still very attractive frames. The service is professional and friendly and they always put the customers needs first. I won't go anywhere else. After 20 years why would I?! This was my first visit st Vision World on Myrtle Avenue in Ridgewood Queens, what a great experience I had. Gee who is the Store manager was so accommodating, he has such great Customer service skills. He was so helpful with me helping me pick out my reading glasses. And Amy the eye Doctor is so awesome, she is very gentle and patient and talks you through with everything that she is doing. Doctor Amy is very knowledgeable and patient, does a thorough exam , answers my questions and I never feel rushed. She helped me choose the most comfortable contact lenses and addressed all my concerns. Been a customer for almost 15 years...sent my son there today with a vision voucher from my insurance which they have no problem with but wanted fifty dollars to fill out a tiny dmv form so my son could renew his license. So the exam is free but signing the document is 50$...you wont see us anymore. read more

ZERO STARS!!!! There should be a zero button to select. February 2018 I took my son to get glasses from this establishment and was pleased with the service. Today is May 31, 2018 and I am flabbergasted as to how crooked and unprofessional the establishment and staff is. My sons glasses broke so I called and was told that I don't have a warranty on the glasses because I used my insurance and didn't pay money to the store personally for the glasses. So does this mean the insurance money they received isn't considered as a payment for the glasses?? Does this mean they would rather their customers pay out of pocket to get better service?? I spoke to the sales rep of the company that provides the glasses to the optical store and was surprised to learn that the company gives a 1 year warranty to the store however the gentleman who claims he's not only the store manager but also owns the store (highly doubt that) told me I can deal with the company direct if I would like and it is "HIS" policy and the company cannot tell him how to conduct business in "HIS" store. As I think about it, if the company has a 1 year warranty on their product why would the consumer have to pay the store for a warranty on a product that already has a warranty attached to it. So if you have insurance don't go here because they would rather deal with customers who pay out of pocket so that they can take advantage of them. read more

11/1/2020, the appropriate representation from optical store Warby Parker (WP) faxed Vision World a request for my eye prescription, in order to fulfill my order for glasses purchased. They didn't sent it. 11/10/2020 I called, and requested it faxed again. The receptionist stated that she would fax it shortly. WP received no such communication. 11/12/2020 I called again, asking for the document to be faxed to me, and I then would fax/email it to WP. The receptionist stated that she could not fax/email it directly to me. WP had to send over a request. A request which had been previously sent, and found once she looked for it. She stated she would fax it immediately, and again WP did not receive any communication. read more

The nicest staff and great customer service, so not sure about others' experiences posted here, can only speak to my own. They did a number of fitting adjustments on new glasses until they felt right. They recently replaced a scratched lens on my glasses at no charge since it was within a year and they were under warranty (I had paid extra for scratch resistant coating when I got them). No hassles at all. Very patient and accommodating. Yes, maybe a little on the pricey side and somewhat limited selection, but very pleased with the service. read more

When walking in, you are made to feel like you are inconveniencing the office staff by being there. They also would not cooperate with my online contact store; I ultimately had to go in just to have the prescription approved. At my last eye exam, the substitute doctor was very creepy and made me feel very uncomfortable. There are much nicer doctors and offices in Ridgewood! read more

When I first went to get an eye exam and new glasses they were very friendly. However, when my glasses broke and I went to try to get them fixed they were very nasty to me and borderline racist. I had rushed there from work and all I needed was a screw put back in the arm of my glasses. They ignored me and said they were busy, even though there were sitting around having a conversation amongst each other (with one customer in the waiting area). They also said I was lying about having rushed there from work. It was about 6PM and I had called in advance to see what time they closed. Apparently they stop working at 6 even though they are suppose to be open until 6:30PM. Horrible! read more

Worst thing that I've ever done. Made an appointment I told them exactly what I wanted over the phone I went in and it was a whole other story they tried to take me as an ass and luckily I'm not a ass or they would've taken my money. They are unprofessional. They have roaches and dead flies all over the place. The girls acted like they didn't even know who I was and acted as if I never made an appointment. Nice employees but $125 for a 10 minute eye exam and only a weeks worth of disposable contacts seems a bit steep.

As I purchased 3 set of glasses every year from this place for over 5 plus years I encounter a problem with my daughter glasses. The metal part broke and the sales rep informs my child who's a minor that she must pay $150.00 to get them repair. I asked them if they had a warranty and the lady said NO GLASSES HAVE A WARRANTY. These glasses are not even a month old. How can this be? As I'm talking to the lady who has helped me for many years now another lady has to open her mouth and say why you upset you didn't pay for them your union local 100 did. She blew my mind to even say something like this. No matter if you have Medicare or private insurance that was not for her to speak or bring up in a conversation that she was not even part of. This place has really show me who they are and how they treat their community. I am so happy I went in to Vision World for my glasses. I was first examined by the Doctor who checked out my vision and my eye pressure. She told me that I needed a change in my glasses since it was a while since I was last there. I also bought glasses with the credit from my union benefit and another pair of sunglasses that I wanted. The styles were nicer than I had seen anywhere else. I can now see better than I ever have and everyone of my friends compliments me on my new glasses. I spent more than $1,200 for glasses and contacts for me and my wife. Had to return the my glasses because the perscreption was incorrect for both me and and my wife. They replaced the lens after a week. My vision was still a little blurry, they stated my eyes will adjust to the lens. 5 MONTHS LATER!!! STILL BLURRY. I have trouble working on my computer and I'm a graphic artist. I just went to the poconos to visit famliy and went to WAL-MART's vision care department. They conducted a thorough examination. They told me that the perscription from my glasses are incorrect (The walmart vision care was so upset about the situation they only charged me $30 for the exam). Vision World...DON'T GO HERE. They test you like how Mcdonald's makes there food. Fast, out the door and sloppy. They should not be in business. read more

My husband went there to have his glasses restrung (the kind with fishline type nylon attaching them to the frame) as the nylon was broken but the frames & lenses were still good, (they had done it last year for him for 20.00) but this time they said that it could not be done but that since the lenses were perfect that they could give him new frames for 100.00. He said no and they they said they just happened to have a frame that those lenses fit for 70.00. Since we were past the 2 year wait for our UFT vouchers he decided to wait. Well guess what!! Ridgewood Opticions restrung those lenses in those same frames that you said could not be used for 15.00!! We are now using them for our vouchers! read more

If you want to just get an eye exam and walk out with your prescription, this is NOT the place for you. for years I go to places like vision world and pay for my eye exams and leave with my prescription in my hand as I like to buy my contacts online myself. I tried this place out because a friend told me they charge $75 for both a contacts and glasses exam. At the end of my examination when I asked for my prescription they would not give it to me unless I purchased a years supply of contacts from them. when I told them I was never informed this, they basically said "oh well". When I said ok can I just have my money back and i'll go elsewhere, they refused to not give me any money back as the exam had already taken place. so my choices were to walk out already having paid for an exam but leave with no prescription or, after much debate they "allowed" me to only purchase a 6 month supply instead of a year. They need to learn to explain all their little rules and what not BEFORE services are rendered and money paid. There is no other place that FORCES you to buy from them. Go somewhere else read more
