Phone companies are going the way of cable TV, and have for some time, which seems to be, "screw the customer we don't care about them, all we care about is making the most possible money and taking every bit of time and money we can." Privacy and professional propriety and information security don't matter at all to them. A customer's time is their's to waste, in their point of view.
