I chose Vision Boutique Optometry in San Diego based on positive reviews, but my experience was extremely disappointing. While the optometrist was professional and knowledgeable, the front-desk staff were the complete opposite rude, disorganized, and untrained. My $900 glasses were ordered incorrectly twice, taking over a month to receive, and when they finally arrived, the frames broke within days. The staff showed no accountability, no apology, and no sense of urgency to fix the issue. The manager, Alan, was never available, and calls were never returned. This office clearly lacks customer service, leadership, and basic professionalism. If you only need an eye exam, fine but if you value respect, competence, or timely service, go elsewhere. read more

The only reason I generously gave Vision Boutique a 2 star rating is because all of the staff were very friendly. This was the bright light of the visit. I was absolutely shocked at the price charged for services. I do not have insurance. I went for a yearly eye exam and to get my contacts prescription, so I could purchase my yearly contacts. The price for this was $960. For an eye exam and contact prescription? Almost $1,000 dollars for this yearly, routine service? I have had contacts for 40 years, with yearly exams. This price is completely outrageous. I complained about how astronomical this was, and all I got were blank stares. If you want to be completely over charged to get your eyes examined, this is your place. read more

I came to get IPL treatment for my severe dry eyes . Also doihg aesthetic full face for fine lines and age spots !! First and foremost, I have been a regular patient at this clinic for quite some time, and I have always thought that the staff, including Dr. Russo - or whatever her name is - were very nice. However, my recent visit was so terrible that I not only decided never to come here again, but I also wrote my first-ever review to warn the public about my experience. To give you a quick summary, I wanted to switch from my soft contact lenses to a type of special contact lenses called 'scleral lenses,' which are quite expensive. However, since I am a retired NFL player, I am eligible to receive them for free. During my last visit, we had discussed these lenses and the different options available, such as augmented reality. I brought this up to Dr. Russo, but she denied ever mentioning it and claimed that such lenses don't exist. I knew that she had told me about it, so I showed her some information I had found online. After seeing this, she became defensive and dismissive, telling me that she doesn't offer that service and that I should go somewhere else. Her tone was so disrespectful that I wanted to cuss her out but decided to be the bigger man and thanked her for wasting my time. If a doctor was the disrespectful to me how could I ever let them treat me. This experience was so bad that I have decided to file a complaint against her with the corporate office. My wife and kids will never go to this clinic again, and I will make sure to warn others about it too." read more

Dr. Russo is great -- super knowledgeable and most importantly takes the time to explain all issues (even minor stuff) in high levels of detail. The practice also boasts high-tech equipment, but it is nice that Dr. Russo complements the fancy diagnostics with the thorough "old school" eye exam that we are all used to. Despite the thoroughness the practice always seems to run on time and runs very efficiently. As a bonus the staff happily cleaned and adjusted a very old (but costly) pair of glasses for me which I haven't been able to wear in years due to a bent frame -- they're are back in mint condition and I can wear them again! read more

She goes above and beyond and always exceeds my expectations. She is knowledgeable, professional and very warm and caring. She is great at communicating what she is doing to your eyes and she listens! In October she recommended that I start using progressive glasses. I was not thrilled about this since I have heard lots of negatives. She took the time to talk me through this decision. It ended up being a great choice. I have been a patient of Dr. Koers for almost a decade now & cannot recommend Vision Boutique enough! Dr. Koers is the most professional, kind and knowledgeable eye doctor I've ever been to. He always greets me & his patients with a smile, & I never feel rushed when I am in an appointment with him. He always takes time to explain things to me and answer questions. On several occasions when I've had eye emergencies over the years, he has responded so quickly & professionally, never making me feel like I'm bothering him. Summer at the front is amazing. Poor service ever since Dr Koers left. I have been going there and my kids for 3 years and will not update my contact prescription unless I come. That means I have to pay out of pocket even though I was just there. What a rip off and then the receptionist hung up on me. I called last week and the Doctor doesn't come in until Thursday. I went to around 6 stores around San Diego and couldn't find any decent pairs until stopping by Vision Boutique. The receptionists were professional, cordial, and had strict SOPs for patient intake which I appreciated during this time. I was looking for a local optometrist since I've moved to Carmel Valley and I'm so happy I landed at Vision Boutique! Dr. Koers and his team are incredibly friendly and I appreciate that Dr. Koers educates his patients along the way. My previous optometrist kind of left me in the dark with my slight astigmatisms and I didn't really understand why I couldn't see as well as I thought I should be able to, and why I didn't qualify for astigmatism lenses. Dr. Koers explained the different levels of astigmatism to me, even let me try an astigmatism lense (still not quite ready to switch to those!) and ended up recommending a different brand of contacts that would help counteract some of the astigmatism symptoms and be a better fit for my eye. He worked hard to get my prescription just right and I can see better than I have in years, despite always having an annual exam.
