Great vegan pie! My mom and I went here after attempting to go to los gorditos across the way, finding it was closed. Don't go into this place expecting a non-vegan cheese flavor. The flavor combinations they choose complement the plant based cheeses well though, and the portion was the perfect size for me and my mom. So my wife and I ordered a Forager pizza, and a buffalo wings pizza. We enjoy meat but we tried and decided to stay plant-based because we feel so good eating this way. First I'm grateful that Virtuous Pie offers plant-based pizzas like these. Second, they are absolutely out of this world delicious! I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. In fact... I felt guilty because I was consuming cheese and vegetable proteins that tasted like dairy cheese and red meat, but it was "really" the nutritious plant alternatives. They have dialed in these pizzas to perfection. Additionally, when I had a minor request on the topping of my pizza, one of the Pizza Chef's, Aaron, went out of his way to make sure that my wife and I were happy. WOW! WOW! WOW!! First time here tonight and we were so pleasantly surprised at how yummy our dinner was! I am a total pizza snob (from New Jersey) and completely approved of this gem of a place. As I was waiting for my food, I watched one of the employees go smoke a cigarette, come back inside, not wash his hands, then grab food out of the oven with his bare hands, lick his fingers, touch the food again and then serve it to the customers.... While I wouldn't call myself a vegan, I am eating vegan for the month of january to try and change my relationship with food and disrupt some bad habits. But a couple of days ago one of those bad habits came a'knockin and I NEEDED PIZZA! Thankfully Virtuous Pie was there to help. And the TLDR? It was delicious! The BF and I split two pies, both of which were so much more tasty than either of us had hoped for. My favorite of the two was the Street Corn, which comes with garlic paprika butter, charred corn, feta, cashew mozzarella, cilantro lime crema, fresh cilantro and lime. I know that none of those cheeses are "real" cheeses, but you could have fooled me. It was so creamy and decadent and I'd eat it again in a heartbeat. The BF preferred the Pesto CBR: bianca sauce, pesto chicken, chili broccoli, sun dried tomatoes, cashew mozzarella, bacon, ranch drizzle, and arugula. So many fantastic textures and I liked the touch of heat. Both were great, we just each had unique personal favorites. Also they had some awfully tasty-looking frozen desserts, but we said no. Just because it's all vegan doesn't mean it's necessarily healthy, and I'm still on a diet. Maybe next time. I really enjoyed Virtuous Pie, and it's given me the confidence that a plant-based diet can still be packed with flavor. I'll be back, even once my vegan experiment is done. read more

Virtuous Pies makes some good dough. No, in all seriousness they make a range of unique pies with great salads - in other words Virtuous Pies is a good place. No, really Virtuous Pie is not your typical, or traditional, pizza place. The toppings run an international range of unique and interesting - like Sriracha sauce and chicken, to a range of mix and match pizza styles. I like the uniqueness - but it's not for everyone. Our nine year, as a for example, isn't a big fan of the "non traditional" approach to pizza and thin crust. It's a good thing they have the old stand-by cheese pizza. Aside from the pizza - they've got great salads and an assortment of side dishes. This is the perfect place for a group - where you can order a bunch of pizzas, sides, and draft beers/drinks and eat family style. That's what pizza is all about. read more

There's really interesting choices of toppings on pizzas, and the creativity is appreciated when you're a vegan. 5 stars for food. 5 stars for the staff. I don't know HOW we got so lucky to get to Virtuous Pie, on New Years Eve, and not have a crazy line or have to wait for a table. We saw the brunch menu on the wall and decided to have that, as we didn't know the regular pizza menu was offered as well. We started with a mimosa, which was nice, and then water, since we had kids with us. Our two kids are vegan since conception and are at the "super picky eater phase." So for them we decided to try the "Sweet Dreams" for the kids and I ordered the "Sunnyside" my husband got "The Cure" and my mom, not a vegan, got the "AKA Benny Eggs" (which is the pizza.) Absolutely EVERYONE loved their food. My mom usually says "it's alright" "it's fine" "it's interesting" which all mean I would rather have had something else. Instead she said "this is really delicious" "I can't believe this sauce is vegan." So to you Virtuous Pie. You have the ultimate virtue showing my super critical carnivore mom that Plant based doesn't have to taste gross, be boring or be "adequate" but a truly delicious meal. I will suggest ordering maybe 2-3 items for 4 adults though. The food was A LOT. We didn't have anything but coffee prior so we indulged quite a bit. (and with it being NYE...prior to resolutions lol) the food is so tasty, rich in texture and flavor and served up beautifully. Since it was so quiet in the restaurant when we went, my son wanted to see how they make the food and I held him while we watched several pizzas being made and then their own "Sweet Dreams." The guys making the food were engaging and patient with this two year old's intellect and questions. They were really sweet to do that for us! Swaggiest vegan pizza. The garlic knots are a must get - truly orgasmic. Mac n cheese was very rich, if you like a nutty Mac n cheese you'll love it. My favorite pizza that we got was the sweet pepper + sausage - perfectly sweet and savory. My boyfriends favorite was the Italian eggplant - "it was like s*x in my mouth" We also got the ultraviolet pizza and i really enjoyed the pine nuts on there but unless you're really into pesto I'd skip on it. This place is incredible. I only knocked off one star because the parking was kinda tight and the place wasn't super easy to find. The stars are for EXCELLENT quality food, helpful staff, and an overall yum experience. The portions are very small for the price, but wow do they know how to make a vegan cheese. We got the Superfunghi and the Spicy Vodka a la Pasta, and the depth of flavors in them are incredible. Truly, truly one of the best vegan things I've eaten. Definitely the best vegan pizza I've ever had. Both were luke warm because we got it delivered so I can't even imagine how good it would have been fresh. We also got the Pumpkin Pie and Afternoon Tea ice cream. Both were sooo damn delicious as well, especially the Afternoon Tea. Wow! I almost knocked one star off because the pizza and pasta portions are really so small. This pizza is fantastic. All of the pizza choices are pretty interesting and creative combinations, which makes it hard to make a decision. I landed on the meatball + chèvre pizza, and was very happy with that choice. It had meatballs that were really well-spiced, just the right amount of spinach, and really great lemon chèvre. Everything just worked really well together and made for a great flavor. This is fancy pizza, it's vegan pizza, and it's also damn good pizza. They also have vegan ice cream at Virtuous Pie, and I decided to get the banana charcoal coconut one, just because it looked super interesting. It is black, and I mean BLACK. It had a great consistency and I really don't think I would have even noticed it was vegan. They'll let you sample if you're not sure about it! I honestly think this is the best vegan/gluten free pizza I've ever consumed. My friend (who is not vegan or gluten free) was SHOCKED by how delicious this pizza was! We both split a vegan margherita pizza and the "ultraviolet" pizza on gluten free crusts. The ultraviolet was more of a non-traditional pizza, with pesto, tomatoes, kale, onion, and pine nuts. However, customer service needs to be improved. the prices displayed on their In store menu are different from online. I ordered online while seated in the resturant and let the staff know that i would be dinning it (it was just easier to order line because the line was long). they assurement me that they understood however my meal was boxed up even though i sat at the table (a waste of boxes). so i opted to eat some of my food out of the cardboard box even though i told them i was sitting inside the restaurant. in addition i was charged a different price (more). Virtuous Pie is a delicious pizzeria in its own right and can easily make you forget the fact that the "cheese" you are eating is actually nut based. I really like the pizzas here: the Korean barbecue one has the perfect combination of spicy, sweet, and salty, while the meatball pizza has some ricotta that could have fooled me. The almond and nutritional yeast Parmesan at the table makes me want to eat it by the spoonful because it's so good. They have an early happy hour (4-6pm) as well as a late night one from 10pm, when select pies are $10. They also have a choice of still water or sparkling water that you can serve yourself with, which is a plus. One thing that could be improved, however, is the service. They call your name when the pizza is done but if you're sitting outside, you're not able to hear. When our order was done, someone came out to yell our name, sounding annoyed, but given the slowness, she could have easily brought it over while she was outside yelling the names... I also think it would get to be a bit confusing if they were busy and you had to wait for your name to be called. A buzzer system or using numbers and having staff bring over the pizza might be a better way to go. read more

The most amazing food item on their menu is the vegan coconut ice cream. There is no way that a regular cow milk ice-cream can even taste anything near this. We had the charcoal banana coconut and the maple pecan flavors. Love them both. The pizza was good but not the best vegan pizza in town. We tasted the superfunghi, ultraviolet, meatball and chèvre; out of these, the ultraviolet was the best for overall complimentary flavor. Second best was the superfunghi. This place is very popular and the size of the restaurant is not big enough for the demand. Be aware of busy times and call ahead. We were there last late and even though it was not very busy, there were many people camping out. There is one big family style table and a few small tables behind their kitchen upstairs.
