The quality of the build is awful. An expensive home built cheap. They put these things up so quick. Buyers do yourself a favor, have a professional inspection completed at every phase of your build. During the 1 year warranty HVAC techs from the company who installed the system came out numerous times and fixed nothing. The 2nd floor is always freezing and the HVAC tech told me to turn up the thermostat. I kicked him out & changed providers. Since moving in the house 12/2020 we have paid a ton of money on the HVAC system. Most recently it required a $2900 repair for a unit that was not yet 4 years old. In addition to the faulty HVAC system the windows are extremely low quality. They are some no name brand single hung windows that freeze me in the winter & roast me in the summer. Cold air blows through the areas around the windows and even though I've got three room darkening panels on each window the rooms are still freezing. Last month the heat pump froze up & I was told the motor in one of the outside units must be replaced. That was the final straw. I'm getting a new & much more efficient heat pump (2 units are needed) and replacing the 16 upstairs windows with double hung, triple pane energy efficient windows. You can imagine how much this costs. $$$$$ I don't think MSH is the worst builder in the area (that would be Ryan & D.R. Horton), but you really need to keep an eye on things and don't allow poor quality items to be installed in your home. MSH used to have customer reviews on Facebook but those were so bad they removed them 2 or 3 years ago. You won't easily find Google reviews for MSH either. That should tell you all you need to know. Most people can't afford a custom builder but in this day and age I think they are the only ones left with standards. On a positive note, at least I don't have yard drainage issues like so many other MSH customers.

Bon Air Exteriors, who originally installed all the siding in the neighborhood, inspected it and insisted, despite all my questions, that the damage was caused by the sun even though there were no windows to reflect the heat on part of the siding. Since the siding had been discontinued, their only solution was to replace the entire end of the house with a slightly different color siding. I declined. I just had the siding replaced by someone who found matching siding. I told him the damage was from the sun, but once he removed the old boards he said the real problem was improper installation--the siding had been installed far too tightly. Grrr. Will never use this company again! Bon Air Exteriors replaced the siding on numerous homes in the neighborhood at no charge because they obviously accepted responsibility. I had to foot the bill for my repair since taking responsibility was obviously costing them too much so they chose to blame the sun!!

Extremely disappointed and frustrated with Griffith Heating & Cooling…read more I am a homeowner dealing with an HVAC system failure that traces back to a defective unit at the time of installation, an issue that has been acknowledged by Griffith. While the installation itself was performed correctly, the unit was faulty when installed. The evaporator coil was improperly attached and remained misaligned inside the unit for over 1.5 years, creating continuous strain on the system that ultimately resulted in catastrophic failure. The compressor is now completely blown. I have only been in my newly built home for 2.5 years, and I should not be dealing with a major system failure of this magnitude so early in ownership. Despite the unit still being under manufacturer warranty, I was told I am responsible for $1,300 in labor costs to replace the compressor, even though the damage is the direct result of an internal defect that existed from day one. My home warranty also refused coverage because the system is still under manufacturer warranty, leaving me stuck between companies while being asked to absorb the cost of a problem I did not cause. This is not normal wear and tear. This is not homeowner negligence. This is the result of a defective HVAC unit that went uncorrected for over a year, despite clear warning signs. What makes this situation even more frustrating is the lack of accountability once the issue escalated. Instead of standing behind their work and equipment, responsibility has been shifted to the homeowner. That is unacceptable. I am also deeply disappointed in Main Street Homes for not doing more to advocate for their homeowner or hold their HVAC contractor accountable. When an issue clearly stems from defective equipment present at installation, homeowners should not be left to navigate this alone. I expect better from companies that build and service homes.
