We've noticed some bad reviews in the past but that is not in our opinion at all reflective of their current performance. Jack Bergman and his crew went out of their way to make sure that everything was perfect for us. Our neighbors down the street used them, so we knew that they were very busy and there would be a wait. It was worth it. Once they get started, they are very efficient and fast. Their workers were very courteous and respectful. Jack visited the site at critical points. If he noticed some things that weren't exactly the way he or we wanted them, he fixed it. We have a beautiful deck now that we get to enjoy as well as a new fence. We had accessibility needs that were tastefully addressed. Deck Tech was the lowest bidder of the 3 we received. read more

Well had a Trex deck put in a couple of years ago. Now part of the deck is starting to bow downward, especially in the summer months, creating a big dip in the deck. Have contacted The Deck Tech several times over the last couple of years about this issue, even sending pictures of the problem. They call, state they will come out and investigate and find a fix to the issue. Well, no one has come out to look at the issue and after an initial reply, nothing at all from them. If you have then build you a deck, be prepared for any issues to go unanswered. We are now looking at other contractors to come out and fix the issue with the deck they installed. read more

We have had a great experience with this company, from start to finish, and have all good things to say! I'll just start off with the fact that I didn't really care that they ran a month or two behind schedule in starting the project because I was willing to wait for a job well done, and this is a porch we will get to enjoy for many, many years. They WANT to be on schedule, but sometimes things happen, especially in construction. Be patient. You won't regret it. Of all the companies we met with and got estimates from, we went with the Deck Tech because Jack seemed to really want us to love our porch and for it to be everything we wanted it to be and more. He really cared about the design and aesthetics, as well as functionality for us. They built a fairly large, entirely maintenance-free screened porch and deck for us, and it's beautiful and perfect and I love it. It's my dream porch! Richie does incredible work, everything is super precise and he is such a nice, polite, quiet guy, too. I kinda got to enjoy having him around. For the porch we have, the price was very reasonable and comparable to other quotes we received, and they stuck to it. Don't hesitate to do business with the Deck Tech! I've learned with home ownership that good work is hard to come by. I didn't have to oversee or check behind anyone to make sure work was being done well, and that has been such a relief. Usually I refrain from writing reviews publically although I feel this time it is appropriate to do so. I contacted The Deck Tech to repair one board in my deck that had a hole in it caused by storm damage. I called this company since relatives of mine had already signed on to use them for a bigger deck project. Getting the quote wasn't the issue at the start, it was the mere timing on when the project was SUPPOSED to be completed that was the issue and complete lack of communication. I had to call/text several times after the "20 day" waiting period after receiving the quote. When I finally got a response, I was told one of two days when they would be out to do the repair and of course those days came and went. I then had to call get again and ask for the main office to let them know that Jack Bergman (owner) was not returning my calls/texts nor was he servicing the customer (me). The following day, two guys showed up at my house - unannounced with no communication from Jack to this point. During the work, the workers were smoking and using profanity (could be heard through the screened windows - I have two kids under 3 years old - come on!). After they did the job, Jack called me and said it appeared the job was done pretty well. I later asked my wife to send me a picture of the work and I noticed the new board (much different material than was told) was installed in the exact same spot and was supposed be on the edge of the deck - to be less noticeable. So not only was this a lack of attention to detail - it was just careless work and direction from the OWNER of this company. The next day Jack and I spoke on the phone, and I explained to him that not only was the new board nowhere near the same material as the original, it was installed in the wrong location, another board was cracked during the install, a few other boards appeared to have been pulled up from level position, and wood was chipped under the deck where the board was installed. So safe to say, a terrible job with the result being that I was worse off now than what it was to start. Jack told me over the phone to give me 48 hours to try and track down the material elsewhere and yet again that time came and went. So I called a final time wanting an update with no return call. He texted me the next week stating he had tracked down a board although at this point I was fed up and had enough. Plus I didn't want Jack or his workers anywhere near my deck after the mess they left. I'll end by saying, any owner of a company that says "I wish that I wouldn't have agreed to do this project to begin with...what a hassle this has become." to the customer - is insanity. Jack said that he has 20 plus years of deck building/repair experience. Well, I can truly say that he and The Deck Tech have ABSOLUTELY no years of customer service experience. What a horrendous experience, horrible company to do business with, and I hope those who do decide to use this service, tread very carefully because you may end up like me - left with a problem that I have to now deal with. I thought it might be helpful to others to write this review so here it is. Jack (Deck Tech) first provided me a quote in Mar 2020 to build a screened porch - his quote was very fair and reasonable but due to some other ongoing activity I was unable to enter a contract agreement at that time. Later that year (Nov 2020), I contacted Jack and told him I was now able to sign a contract to have the screened porch built - Jack indicated that material costs had risen significantly since his last quote (Mar) and that the additional material costs would add another $6K to the project. Jack also indicated that he wouldn't be able to start the project until Jun 2021 (7 months out) but since I wasn't in a big hurry to have the project completed, I agreed and signed the contract. During the wait Jack and I exchanged a few e-mails and he indicated that he would reach out in May to provide a status - however May arrived and I received no communication from him; it wasn't until I reached out to him that he replied he was still on track to start the project by Jun. Well, Jun arrives and once again no communications from Jack - I once again reached out to him and he replied that he now expects to start the project in Jul. I think you can see the trend here - July arrives, no communications and I was eventually informed that the project wouldn't start until Aug. At this point, I became extremely frustrated and I gave Jack a direct call - he indicated he tried reaching out but had a problem with my phone number (which is clearly written on the contract); he also indicated that material costs had continued to rise and that I may need to add yet another $2K to the project. At this point, I informed Jack that I would not be adding any additional funding to this project and that I didn't want to waste anymore of my time with this if he couldn't complete the project at the agreed contract price. Within a few days, I received a letter from Jack's lawyer with my initial deposit but also seeming to suggest that Jack has a right to increase his price due to an increase in material costs. Jack does have a standard "force majeure" clause within the contract - however, I didn't read anything that specifically related to price escalations, price thresholds or even what the material costs were. In summary, use this company as you see fit - I experienced poor communications and wasted nearly 9 months of my valuable time on a project that was never completed. Jack's website indicates that they're worth the wait but in my case, it wasn't worth the headache. Hope this helps. read more

They completed a platform deck in the rear of my house. During and after the project I had a few issues with them. First off, they won my business by offering the most competitive quote. After "some misunderstandings" on their end the quote price went up. Obviously, I wasn't too happy about this but I'm willing to be somewhat flexible. The next problem came when discussing start date. I was told that the project could start within two weeks of when I got the quote. I signed the contract and they confirmed the start date. That date came and went with zero communication. I emailed twice and finally got an apologetic and excuse filled phone call pushing my start date back a few more weeks. The new project start date was missed as well but luckily they came out the week after to start the job. The professional that came to complete the deck was kind and hard working. I would rate the craftsmanship at a 8.5/10 only due to the fact that there were a few items that were left unfinished. I felt as though a closer attention to detail would have resulted in a much superior product. A piece of decking actually fell off when I touched it... I requested some items to be fixed/finished and they obliged without hesitation which was nice. However, the fixes themselves were subpar and I don't trust them to redo it for the second time. So, after paying for "professionals" to do the job, I have to go back behind them and fix their mistakes. Overall, my experience was negative with a few positives sprinkled in. I would not recommend hiring this company unless it's for a high dollar job that they actually take seriously. It's obvious they don't care about any projects less than $5,000. read more

I have used their website contact form twice, emailed them twice and left a VM. Never heard back from them. Update. I managed to get through to someone. They said they would call back later that day with an appointment time.. never heard from them. How companies like this stay in business is beyond me. I had a Zuri deck and Trex Rain Escape with a screened in porch installed by Deck Teck in June 2016. Afterwards the Rain Escape roof system leaked and it took many calls to get them to come back and repair. When they attempted to fix, they damaged several deck planks and the system still leaks. Now three years later we are still trying to get the roof fixed and now the deck planks are sticking up due to them not being secured properly. First we got excuses and promises from the owner Jack Bergman and his office manager Carol that they would contact us and repair the issues. Now they don't even return our calls. I finally went to the BBB. Stay away from this company. They will happily take your money but do not stand by their work and were very careless. No customer service at all. read more
