I hired Mr. Handyman to make adjustments to two exterior doors and one interior door that had all settled or swollen in different ways. Couldn't be happier with the patience and quality of the work. I also asked the technician about other jobs that I wanted to get done but didn't have the time, patience, or energy to attend to. He answered all my questions and told me what I need to do to prep (and which supplies to purchase) in order to save some money. Very helpful. Mr. Handyman is not cheap. But they are a good value, considering they are getting things done I NEED to have done. And the y were available within a few days of me making the request and agreeing to a phone estimate. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! I hired them on 2 separate occasions to install a kitchen sink and bathroom sink. The kitchen sink flooded the cabinet and the bathroom sink began leaking on NYE just 2 weeks after it was installed. Additionally they tried to upcharge me 50% onsite claiming the work would take longer than anticipated. I had submitted detailed photos and explanations of the requested work. Clearly any company who installs 2 sinks that leak does not have a record of success. I will go with the less expensive estimates I received next time instead of wasting money on Mr. Handyman. read more

Inquired about services in Hampton which is routed to the Richmond office. The following day I received a message from Peter and called him. The first thing out of his mouth is that he had called as if I should have been sitting by my home phone. I told him it was only two hours ago. Anyway, had explained what part I needed replaced in my house and he seemed confused. He asked for photos and they were sent. Even with pictures he had no experience with the item. He said he would get back with me in a few minutes as I figured he was going to consult with someone who is familiar with the item. Day two now and no reply. I called Mr. Handyman in Richmond and discussed in great detail the scope of the work: To remove a large desk and dispose of it. Because the desk was attached to the wall, it was expected that the wall would need to be repaired and painted; which according to their representative would be a 2-day process (to allow the wall to dry after repair done and then paint.) The Handyman arrived on time and removed the desk very quickly. He left the room a mess and said that he would take the desk to the dump. When I asked if he was coming back to begin the wall repairs he said that he would have to discuss that with the office and that they would call me on Monday. No call; no followup on Monday. I received their invoice on Tuesday. When I called to see why the handyman left without completing the work, I received no explanation from the same person I originally booked the job with. I decided to cut my losses with this business and find responsible tradespeople to finish the job. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business to anyone. Disingenuous, disinterested and out to make a buck. Or in my case 400 of them. read more
