It is an interesting place. Better for dinner and drinks as opposed to lunch! Fish is very good.

This building has seen a few owners over the years, but I hope the current restaurant Tacos…read moreToreados will be around for awhile. Visiting here was a very random stop for me. The hunger pangs hit and I just happened to be near this place. I've only seen it in passing but haven't really seen much chatter on the local foodie pages on social media or on here. I arrived around the end of breakfast and there wasn't much of a crowd inside. Parking was easy right out front. I was a little confused at the ordering process. Was it counter service or table service? No one really pointed me in the right direction until my waitress Claudia told me to have a seat and she would be helping me. She did an amazing job from start to finish. I was expecting just a taco joint, but they have lots more to offer on their menu. They have gorditas, tostadas, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, burgers, breakfast items, soup and entrees. They also have your usual drinks options along with agua frescas, shakes, juices, margartitas and beers. I was torn between breakfast and lunch so I decided to try both. I went with the dish that has the same name as the restaurant. Tacos Toreados came with 3 tacos with a protein of your choice on a flour tortillas and what makes these different was that they came with grilled onions and mozzarella cheese. I also went with a bacon and egg taco just so I can really judge the place. What I didn't expect was how massive the tacos were going to be. I got mine with pastor and fajitas. It looked more like a tostada with the toppings covering the whole surface of the tortilla. The fajita and pastor was seasoned beautifully and was very tasty. The onions were sauteed just right but I do like raw onions and cilantro on my tacos a little better. The cheese was a nice addition as well. I barely got through two and on the third I just ate the meat. I saved just enough room to try the breakfast taco which was very good. Washed it all down with a Mexican Coke. This place is very close to my house and I will most definitely be back to make my way through their menu.

Tacos toreados are what happen when someone confuses burnt with bold. They're basically tortillas…read morethat got mugged in a vat of oil, slapped with meat that's been fried until all personality died, and then bullied by salsa so aggressive it's clearly compensating for how dry everything else is. The tortillas? Greasy enough to leave fingerprints on your soul. Crispy on the outside, sure--but in that "I've been sitting under a heat lamp questioning my life choices" way. One bite and oil drips like it's trying to escape the crime scene. The meat is usually overcooked to the point where chewing feels like a personal challenge. Any natural flavor is gone, replaced with "salt + fry + regret." And don't get me started on the salsa: nuclear-level spicy, not because it's nuanced, but because pain is the only thing left to feel. Tacos toreados aren't about balance, craft, or love. They're about chaos. They're the taco equivalent of yelling "¡ÁMONOS!" and making bad decisions at 2 a.m. Delicious? Sometimes. Refined? Never. They exist purely to punish sobriety and reward drunk confidence. Still gonna eat them? Yeah. Proud of it? Absolutely not.

You don't end up at Celaya's because of a TikTok algorithm. You end up at Celaya's because your…read morecousin told you about it in 1997, and you never stopped going. It's not the new place with mezcal flights and neon signs preaching about tacos being a lifestyle. It's the spot where you sit down, exhale, and realize you've been eating the same enchiladas here since Clinton was president -- and they've tasted right every time. Celaya's isn't chasing trends. They're not reinventing the wheel. They're just making damn good Mexican food the way they've always made it: with consistency, humility, and zero interest in impressing a food critic. Their salsa doesn't come in five variations; it comes in one -- and it's hot enough to remind you you're alive, but not so brutal you won't ask for more. The plates arrive fast, heavy, and exactly as you remember them. Cheese enchiladas drowning in chili gravy that stains your soul in the best way. Puffy tacos with enough crunch to make conversation pause. Refried beans like molten velvet. Rice that's been kissed by chicken stock and time. No deconstructed anything. No fusion confusion. Just food that doesn't need explanation because it's been perfected by repetition, not reinvention. The staff? They know you. Or they will. Names are remembered. Preferences are locked in. If you order something different, they'll check on you twice just to make sure you're feeling alright. This isn't service; this is family surveillance. Décor? Who cares. Probably the same faded murals, same laminated menus, same framed photo of somebody's abuela. And yet it feels more permanent, more rooted, than whatever's opening across town with reclaimed wood and Edison bulbs. The prices? Still fair. Still honest. Still structured around feeding working people, not influencers. You'll leave full, maybe with a little foil-wrapped something for later, and wondering why anyone ever needed more than this. Celaya's isn't a scene. It's not trying to be. It's a refuge. It's a reminder. It's a handshake from the past, still firm, still real.

Even with the huge crowds they get every day of the week, the food remains high-quality, the service stays quick, and the overall dining experiences are consistently satisfying. I think it's admirable that after all these years of coming here since I was a little girl, they've managed to maintain the same level of quality, and if anything, they've only improved. My go-to favorite is the Amazon Wrap with steak. It's always beautifully presented, the steak is perfectly cooked, and the lettuce, tomato, and other toppings keep it light and refreshing instead of heavy. The tortilla strips inside add the perfect crunch to balance what could otherwise be a chewy wrap. I also love drizzling on the complimentary green sauce that comes with the chips or asking for extra Amazon sauce because both pair with the wrap so well. Truly, there is nothing wrong with this dish, and I've successfully put all my friends onto ordering it. While I usually stick to the Amazon Wrap, Gringo's has plenty of other delicious options, including the steak fajitas, the quesadillas, and even a surprisingly good burger. Overall, Gringo's continues to be a comfort spot for my family and me, and it never fails to deliver. If you want reliable Tex-Mex with great service and consistently good food, this is absolutely the place to go.

Love that they have a DJ right at the front door setting the mood for the place. Service- was good. Our server Savannah managed our large party to best of her ability. The place was pretty full. Which I knew it would be. It's definitely a fun party atmosphere. Seating is mostly inside but they do have a smallish patio outside. Which they really should work on. Half the tables outside did not have any chairs. On a nice day, it's a place to double customers. Food- I got the Basic AF breakfast which was pretty tasty and you get to sample a good amount. Comes with 4 small pancakes, eggs your way, 1 meat choice, and potatoes. The potatoes surprised me, as they look so unassuming but are very tasty. If in the area would not mind returning.
