As part of a birthday party, we joined some friends at Amigoni for the first stop, and we all loved the ambiance (stunning, calm, lovely staff) so much that we stayed over 3 hours! We sat in the back bar/barrel room area (back bar was closed that day), but it was a great space for a larger group to be able to spread out and not take up all the space in the front bar area. The barrels gave the room a cozy feel! I'm a fan of wine, but a lot of our friends are not huge wine drinkers--so while they have a lot of great wine to taste (I'll get to that soon!), they also have local drafts and non alcoholic options for your friends/family members who aren't into wine or who don't drink. For their wines, when I went on a Saturday they had two wine flight options, which the staff said they change about every two weeks! I got the basic flight to get a better idea of their standard wines, and I wasn't disappointed with any of them--and as others have noted, they are pretty heavy with their tasting pours, just FYI! I was able to try the Urban White Blend (chardonnay and viognier), Cabernet Franc Rose (one of their original makes from the early days), Sangiovese, Zinfandel, and the Select (petit verdot and tannat). The space was in a pretty quiet street, across from a pretty non-descript office building. I wasn't expecting too much inside but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the interior had much more personality than the outside. The interior had high ceilings, the bar was on the left and before we sidled up to the bar we explored the space. There was an upstairs space that looked down into the lobby and the rear area had a bar and was also nicely decorated. The rear area had a little more people so we decided to go back up front. We decided to do both of the tasting options and share. I enjoyed the limited production tasting better and the reds over the whites. Like with a lot of tastings, the wine club was pushed but since I was only staying one more day I wasn't interested. However, our host did give us a taste of the T10 which I enjoyed so much that I bought a bottle of that. I shared it with some people who know and enjoy wine and they were also pleasantly surprised with it.

It was delicious and I couldn't resist another. We had the prime rib sliders for an appetizer. The accompanying garlic spread was amazing. My wife had the pistachio encrusted grouper came with 3 good sized asparagus spears and mashed potatoes. I sampled and the grouper was about an inch thick, citrus notes and the crust of pistachios slightly salty and good nutty flavor. I had the braised short rib risotto. It had the subtle earthy notes from the mushrooms, totally tender and delicious also. After dinner one of the service ladies refilled my water glass and some accidental spilled in the table. No harm, no foul. But then asked, after cleaning up, if there was anything we would like. I asked for a third pretzel roll and yes, not ashamed, brought it home for tomorrow. Everything else was so good none of it made it to carry home. The restaurant is spotless, plenty of staff in hand to give extra assistance when desired.

Despite the indoor dining area being completely empty--we were literally the only customers in the establishment until 2:00 PM--management stubbornly refused to let our group sit inside. Their excuse? Our "party size was too big." Instead of showing an ounce of flexibility or basic human decency, they forced a heavily pregnant host and her guests to sit outside during an active Heat Warning. It was 93°F outside with a heat index making it feel like 105°F. This isn't just a matter of poor customer service; it's a severe health and safety hazard. Forcing women who are weeks away from their due dates to endure triple-digit heat index conditions while indoor, air-conditioned tables sit completely vacant is downright negligent. It showed a shocking lack of empathy. When we finally went inside just to take a few photos before leaving, it was confirmed that the space was completely unused. To value arbitrary, nonsensical "rules" over the medical safety and comfort of your patrons is a miserable way to run a business. We will never be back, and I strongly advise anyone planning an event to look elsewhere--unless you want a venue that treats its customers with absolute disregard.

Let's start with the ambiance. The actual cafe is very small but charming. The inside is well designed though, and feels charming without being overwhelming. What stole the show for me though was the patio. As someone who studied abroad in France it felt so French to me in the best way. To me, it feels like taking a Parisian cafe and mixing it with a hip KC bar - it doesn't feel necessarily exactly like one or the other, but it compliments both and feels uniquely it's own in the best way possible. On the day I visited it was absolutely gorgeous outside and I had one of the best breakfast burritos of my life, mostly due to their chimichurri sauce.
