Super cute and cozy spot, perfect for a coffee break or a quick bite. I also loved coming in the evening--their drink menu is great, and they serve some really nice cocktails. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the decor is absolutely aesthetic. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to!

Le Champion brought a unique vibe compared to other cafes in the city. It's chill and laid back with a simple menu, but the menu has fun, playful items too (which leans into the fun and playfulness of the vintage sporting goods theme) I had the golden latte and liked it a lot. Most of the time I drink espresso or black coffee, so I was very satisfied choosing outside of my routine this time. I can't resist some European-style frites. Those were really good too. The service was attentive, friendly and accurate.

So i decided to try this place and to be honest it was just okay. The manager was nice but the workers behind the bar were very slow and sort of rude . They didn't have nice greeting and didn't seem happy to be at work. There was a younger young lady who came and her energy was different. The food didn't blow my mind . It seems fancy but was just okay to me . The food was not very hot just like warm. Being that I know they made it in front of me that was odd. The best thing I tried on the menu to me were the truffle fries. I do think if the workers were a bit more kind my experience would have been better ! The space is small...: I like the concept, but to be honest it didn't wow me ! Experience is everything.

Loved the vibe of this place! I want to go back & try more food since the artichoke dip was out for the night. The truffle fries were good but almost too truffle-y & I love truffle They do have my favorite wine (jazz odyssey) so that is a plus, but I need to go back and try their dip and the sliders. Great vibe for a patio happy hour w/ drinks for sure.

I've been wanting to check out this new spot since it opened and it did not disappoint! My girlfriends and I had some cocktails and snacks, including the Froze cocktails, caviar appetizer and truffle fries. The drinks were yummy (but I couldn't take the wine/alcohol), the caviar was a unique appetizer at a place like this but fun to have and truffle fries were delicious. I'd love to come back during the daytime for coffee and enjoy the patio.

Was sad to Cava go but happy we got something similar to replace it. It's very cute and feels more open on the inside. I feel like there's more tables on the patio too. I stopped in by myself to have a little happy hour cocktail and a snack. It was a lovely day for and everyone was very welcoming. Can't wait to visit again!

I have mixed emotions about this new concept with the team behind powerhouses such as Noka and The Russel you would expect service to be spectacular. The location and decor are impeccable, with slight nods to CÄ… Va with an incredibly curated wine selection and tiny kitchen space (also a very paired down menu) but, I've had one solo experience here that was great and one time I met a friend and we were almost completely ignored for a good half of our lunch- water glasses weren't filled, we had to beg to get coffee after we were finished with our food and sadly to say it was a near two star experience. They promptly mentioned after the meal that they would never go back, and I can't say I'd blame them. Now, onto the food, even though the menu is small the bistro style of small dishes are in my opinion quite tasty however, portion sizes are small and the prices don't necessarily reflect that. I don't have a problem with a small bite (or a few) and a glass of wine (or a few) but, just go into the experience not expecting a full meal. The most filling dish I have ordered is a tie between the artichoke dip and the lobster Mac and Cheese. If you're looking for something unique I would go with the Caesar bites which are adjacent to a croquette, filled with chicken and cheese and served on top of an herbaceous pesto. Another thing I do enjoy about this dish is its almost like two in one with a nice little romaine Caesar salad on top. The sliders would be a skip for me, the quality of beef is nothing special, I would love these upgraded to Wagyu or just not such a sad piece of filet, there's more arugula than beef and for around $20 the quality in my opinion should be far superior. The combined coffee shop concept is unique and fun but, the service is hit or miss, I do enjoy the le golden latte with warm spices of turmeric and cinnamon. The flavors are inventive for the speciality coffee drinks but, they also offer the basics as well. Would I come back, I think so just for the vibes and the small bites but, I know for a fact my friend who I invited for lunch would never give it another shot. So, maybe it's a polarizing place that's not for everyone but, with better service and a few tweaks of the menu it would be a four star for sure maybe even a five but, with my experiences so far it's definitely a three for me.

Tequila on the rocks, champion spritz

I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE. I cannot recommend it enough. The staff is always friendly, regardless of the time of day. They are always welcoming you in and getting you situated and comfortable. Their drinks are to die for, I could live off of the champion spritz! I do reccomend trying out different drinks to get a good feel, you can't go wrong with any of them. The food is also so yummy and a good portion that goes well with the drinks.

Le Golden Latte and Strawberry Matcha

Le Champion is such a cute coffee shop. It's coffee meets vintage varsity but chic! I love the concept and the menu hit all the right spots when it came to items my boyfriend and I love! Since we were there for coffee and matcha, we made a deal to come back and try a few items on their menu that were more fitting for a cocktail hour or pre-snack before date night. Through and through this place is aesthetically pleasing! However; here is what we ordered, how we rate it, and what we thought: *Strawberry Matcha 2/5: At first glance, the presentation of the matcha looked really great, but after my observation I noticed a few things. The Matcha was clearly layered as listed: matcha on the bottom, milk in the middle, then topped with the beautiful strawberry whipped cold foam (which was honestly so good, 5/5). However, that isn't typically how matcha is prepared. After mixing it (I always take a sip or two before stirring), I noticed the matcha color was very dull. I'm not sure what grade of matcha was used, but even after mixing it several times, I wasn't a fan. The matcha grains kept sinking to the bottom no matter how much I stirred, and the texture stayed grainy. The taste leaned way too earthy for me, and unfortunately, I just didn't enjoy this matcha. Le Golden Latte 4/5: This latte was bursting with flavors that I could appreciate. The latte was mixed with a house espresso that was very bold but mixed well with the cinnamon turmeric, especially when mixed in. With such a bold espresso, I would have liked to have the cinnamon turmeric mixed with something else, but overall it was good.

What a beautiful addition to the Westport area! Plenty of outdoor seating, indoor seating is compact but manageable. Was greeted with menus, display of pastries, and the vibes were immaculate. Coffee itself was great and can't wait to come again! Vegan friendly

Sliders
Skye S.

Really liked the ambience of this place I think I'd get an alcoholic beverage next time over the coffee/matcha as it was whole milk no 2% or skim. The sliders were great and it was super cute! Definitely a good place to meet up with a friend.

Deviled eggs

I'm low-key obsessed with local chef, Amante Domingo. He is the executive chef and owner of The Russell, Noka, and now, Le Champion. Le Champion is a coffee shop and wine bar in Westport (in the location previously known as Ca Va). We usually find street parking. At the moment, it's first come first serve seat yourself. Just like all his restaurants, the staff was incredibly kind, professional and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed but put together with the common theme of vintage sports. I loved the sports paraphernalia and the seating was comfortable. They also have a gracious patio with shade. For cocktails, we tried several on the menu and I enjoyed every single one at the table. All of the cocktails were sophisticated and well balanced. For food, we tried the sliders, deviled eggs and, of course, the truffle fries with aioli which were addicting to say the least. Perfect spot for a catch up, friend or romantic date, or even a work meeting to woo someone. ;)

Iced latte

One billion out of one billion !!!!!! The service was amazing and attentive. The manager was so kind and hospitable. Thinking about booking and renting out Le Champ for a private party possibly my birthday.

My Winner of Best Restaurant Week Meal 2026…read more I hadn't been back to Westport Cafe for a few years but now I'm kicking myself because I've been missing out! I remembered this restaurant being one of my favorites in years past . For some reason it fell off my radar. Now it's shining like a beacon of fine dining French inspired cuisine in Westport, an entertainment district known for a more casual environment. If you are looking for a special date night meal, somewhere for a girls night or just for a treat yourself dinner I would highly suggest Westport Cafe. Let's talk about this incredible restaurant week menu. First was the deconstructed crab cake (which is always on the menu) I would order this dish again and again. The way it was presented was a work of art. All the components were complex and it was fun to eat. It has such an essence of crab without the heaviness deep fried crab cakes usually have. Seafood is special here because the Trout Almondine was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It begs to be added to the menu. The sauce was buttery and rich with nutty notes, the citrus cut through the richness so, it didn't seem heavy. The fish was cooked impeccably, I literally had no notes. They know what they're doing in that kitchen! And you know if I can rave about green beans then it was a perfectly executed dish. They had such a nice snap and vibrant green color, they were delicious dipped in that sauce. I cannot wait to go back for another solo splurge meal. This was my second dinner of the evening so I didn't make it to dessert at the restaurant but, I did take it to-go. I'm not a big dessert girl so, it wasn't very memorable however, the rest of the meal is engrained in my mind. I remember back a few years ago I used to go crazy for the muscles here so, I can't wait to sample them again. Also, just a note any menu that has rabbit on it just completes me. It's so hard to find nowadays in Kansas City and it's one of my favorite meats to indulge in. The menu rotates seasonally (as one should) so, I need to rush back in soon before the rabbit leaves. I would suggest you rush in too, I do not think you'll regret it.

The dining room is small and cozy, and it has that welcoming neighborhood feel where it seems like everyone knows each other. Reservations are definitely recommended. On our first visit, we ordered carryout. The Roasted Goat Cheese (baked goat cheese with red sauce and oregano) had great flavor, though the crostini was missing from the order. The Lasagna Bolognese was outstanding -- easily some of the best I've ever had. Rich, perfectly layered, and full of flavor with the bolognese, parmesan béchamel, red sauce, and mozzarella. For dessert, the Limoncello Cake was bright and delicious, and the NY-style salted caramel cheesecake was dense and so good. We were impressed enough that we went back -- this time with reservations -- and dined in. On our return visit, we had the Swordfish with lemon caper butter, sautéed greens, and rosemary potatoes. It was cooked perfectly, with bright, balanced flavors and generous portions. We ordered the Lasagna Bolognese again (it's that good), and it did not disappoint. For dessert, we tried the Tiramisu, and it was hands down the best I've ever had. The imported cookies, mascarpone, espresso, and cocoa were perfectly balanced -- light, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The service was excellent, the portions were large, and the flavors were spot on across the board. What started as a convenient spot near our hotel turned into a place we'd absolutely go out of our way to visit again. Ragazza truly lives up to its reputation as a local gem.

Thanks to all the staff for the help, and not only were they amazingly friendly, but super prompt and attentive. We ended up getting a round of drinks (kir royale, sunrise sangria, blush theory, and French 75). All were great and hit the spot! We also got a couple of appetizers: crab rangoon dip and lamb meatballs. Again, both hit the spot and were nice bites for us before we headed to our dinner reservation. Also we were celebrating my parents' anniversary, so they were offered a pair of chambongs... Champagne in a bong shaped vessel? Super fun and random, so I'm happy we had the experience! We show up for our reservations and get seated for a wonderful meal. Ambiance was surreal. The vibes inside were that of a modern Italian kitchen inside of a Southern parlor room. I know that doesn't make any sense, but it's true. And the restaurant looks out upon the quaint downtown street of this Kansas City suburb through giant, floor-to-ceiling windows. So beautiful. Service was great, as well. The server knew the menu very well, and was able to answer a few questions, guiding me to the correct thing to order. The apps, entrees, and dessert were all paced well, too. Service lead to a lovely evening. As for the food, we started off with the Not-So-Standard Potato Chips (parmesan, sauce flight: gold sauce, comeback sauce, black pepper bourbon ketchup). These were very good. House cooked chips that were just thick enough, had a good bite to them, and were absolutely covered in luscious parm. The sauce flight was fun, too. Keep the leftovers around to pair with the rest of your meal. Onto the Low Country Pimento Cheese (fried saltine crackers, candied black pepper bacon, bread & butter pickles, tomato jalapeño jam). Hillbilly charcuterie. Lots of fun to mix and match some bacon, some pickles, a little jam, all on those very unctuous Saltines. Very fun app. My main was the Brick Pressed Chicken (lemon & thyme brine, prosciutto & sausage bread pudding, caramelized cabbage, lemon & shallot cream sauce). Chicken was cooked to a charred perfection, that savory bread pudding was just an amazing as it sounds, and the cream sauce really brightened everything up. I don't usually get chicken, but I'm telling you, this was the chicken to get. I also got to try one of the nightly specials, some sort of cheesy parmesan pasta covered in black truffle shavings. It was as extravagant as it sounds. Fresh-made pastas, giant chunks of lobster, cheesy ooey gooey, and those truffle shavings add just a touch of class and umami that really made this a good pasta dish. We finished up with the Gram & Dun Bar (chocolate peanut and pretzel nougat, marshmallow cream cheese, chocolate mousse, peanut butter ice cream). Again, another thing I don't usually go for, the dessert bar, but this place did it in a way I haven't seen before. Each layer added to the dessert. Nougat, cream cheese, and mousse, all tied together with that cold, creamy peanut butter ice cream. So so good. Overall, as good as this place was on paper, Gram & Dun really blew me away. Really elegant food, found right in the heart of the country. It was a pleasant surprise, and I would come back in a heartbeat.
