Cucumber salad, Chickpea Fries, grilled bread and Grilled Bread & Ricotta
    Alex B.

This very might be my favorite restaurant ever. I am a sucker for delicious tapas and immaculate vibes, and Extra Virgin has them both! With a nice outdoor patio right off a streetcar stop and a fun and fancy indoor, I always have so much fun here for dinner and drinks. I have been here for casual dinners, dates, anniversaries, and everything in between and have loved it every time! Everyone is always so kind and helpful, recommending their favorite plates and how much food should be enough for your party. They rotate out some of their plates periodically, keeping the menu fresh and new, while also keeping the classics that I love. My absolute favorite dish that I get every time is the grilled ricotta and bread as an appetizer. The ricotta is perfectly light and the bread is charred to perfection, I highly recommend it. Some other dishes we love (some not pictured): the cucumber salad, raw oysters, sautéed mushrooms. You really cannot go wrong I dream of going back to KC to order Extra Virgin again.

Goat cheese pastries were sooo good very creamy middle and the sauce added a nice fruity acidity. Pasta was really good and not what we expected. The sauce was more similar to a massaman curry flavor but it was very good. The homemade ricotta was really creamy but nothing crazy special flavor wise. Still really good though! Jammy eggs- similar to deviled eggs. The spice was almost a little too sour but the pistachios were really good on them and the yolks were a perfect soft boil. Server was very nice and attentive!

Omg... I don't know what I was expecting, but it definitely was not this...! I'm an extra fan! Our server was friendly and had some great recommendations. The menu just had so many things that we love and he really helped narrow things down for us. We honestly didn't expect everything to be so damn tasty! Also, the portions were so generous! We definitely ordered a little too much... haha, but we also ate everything *burp* bc we just couldn't get enough. The bone marrow was one of our favorites as were the chickpea fries! The smoked trout dip was also so, so gooood. Also, DO NOT SNOOZE ON THE GOAT CHEESE BOUREKAS!! That seasonal jam goes so well with it... I dream about those Bourekas. I'll get off my soap box now. It's my new favorite casual restaurant now. I'll definitely be back for happy hour! Also, they have all-day happy hour drinks on Tuesdays!

Made a reservation for dinner on New Year's eve during our trip to KC. We got to our table within a couple of minutes. The restaurant was sort of packed. I liked the red color themed interior, with wall arts and decor. The single page menu had appetizers, salads, seafood, pasta and meat dishes. We started with halved fudgy eggs aka deviled eggs. It had so much cilantro, paprika and other stuff on the top, totally distorted the flavor and the eggs were cold too. The lobster also similarly lacked flavor. In roasted bone marrow, I could barely find any marrow. Lots of scallion and some picked onion just thrown on top that didn't bring any enhancement to the dish. The grilled branzino was the best dish. Luckily this one had tiny herbs in controlled quantity, though again there was no real purpose for it. The service was fine overall. All staff members were friendly. Despite being busy, dishes came out in short intervals. We were done with the dinner in about an hour. But overall the food was very understanding to me, especially the enormous amount of different green garnish on top of every dish.

We stopped at Extra Virgin for dinner before a jazz show at the Gem Theatre. Rylie was our server and she was amazing at giving us the run down of all the menu items. All were simply delicious and we enjoyed trying things from each of the menu areas! We loved the Goat Cheese Bourekas, Cornish Hen with the warm spices and also the Fudgy Eggs but to be clear, everything was super delicious and fresh! This is a very vibrant and authentic place and for all we tried and two drinks, the tab was 133.00 which was surprising given we tried so many options and it wasn't Happy Hour!

Excellent service. We came in on a relatively slow day during lunch. Enjoyed the vodka pasta and a side salad. They gave us a free app which was tasty and nice to try something new.

Such a fun spot for a romantic meal or to catch up with friends. Such a beautiful patio to enjoy when the weather is nice or they have heaters when the weather gets chilly. The staff is great at helping to select the number of dishes and providing recommendations. The ricotta and grilled bread is a must but they have so much to try! Can't wait to come back and try more!

Yet another banger at EV - always delivers, always interesting, and always some wood fired goodness. Staff is amazing as usual and hooks it up on recommends.. this time we had the grilled shrimp, Moroccan zaalouk which is intense but yummy, a soup of the day (lobster), and the choco torte. Wonderful lunch after a quick road trip! Port to seal the deal with dessert and a good glass of white wine - let's gooooo

Another amazing meal at Extra Virgin! We had a great spot at a hightop near the bar. We had the MOROCCAN ZAALOUK , Soup of the day and the grilled prawns. It was all delicious, I always love the the variety and freshness of ingredients. Our server was wonderful and attentive recommended an amazing dessert wine to accompany our torte. Thanks for what you do!

Food was really good. Service was mediocre, ours was weird and not very attentive. Ambiance is fun but there's too many tables pushed together.

Such a good girls happy hour spot! The food was all amazing. We loved all the dips and thought the prices were super affordable and generous for the portion.

Extra virgin has quickly become one of my absolute favorite spots in KC. The food is phenomenal, service is top notch and the drinks are also great. Whether it's the octopus, hummus or the chickpea fries, every dish is perfection. They also have a great happy hour!

This place is one of my favorite restaurants hands down. I am never disappointed when I come here. And I appreciate that the menu is always changing. The service is alway stellar I always witness great teamwork here all the way from the GM. Come here if you're looking for good food and great vibes. You'll thank me later.

It was one of the best mezcal cocktails I've ever had, and I stuck to those for the rest of the night. Drinks came out incredibly fast, and our server was attentive and informative. My favorites were the Higos y Queso de Cabra and the Pintxo de Pollo y Chorizo. We ordered about seven different dishes and enjoyed them all -- the food was filling, fresh, and tasted homemade. This place is great if you love variety because you can order multiple tapas and share with the table, and/or just enjoy for yourself! I have tried their Paella Mariscos, Breakfast Paella, and one other, all were SO delicious! The shrimp were cooked especially well and the servings are generous enough for multiple helpings. Their sangria rojo is delicious, as are their wine offerings (I love a place that offers flights!) And they have great discounts each day of the week. If you like coffee, their Spanish coffee comes with a fiery performance by the servers - it was beautiful and so delicious! I really want to compliment their hospitality and attentiveness for the birthday brunch. We had a party of 8 and ordered a ton of tapas to share and the staff/kitchen timed their delivery perfectly along with entree delivery and drink refills so our table was pretty busy. Overall two great experiences, super delicious food, and lots of options so you can try something new with every visit! I'm already looking forward to going back

The restaurant appeared to be significantly understaffed, which likely contributed to several issues during our visit. I ordered the Steak & Two Eggs and requested my steak medium rare. It arrived well done with no pink whatsoever. While I understand mistakes happen, a steak cooked that far beyond the requested temperature is difficult to overlook, especially when it is one of the more expensive breakfast items on the menu. The breakfast potatoes were also inconsistent. Some pieces were cooked properly, while many others were extremely hard and crunchy when bitten into, creating an unpleasant texture and making the dish difficult to enjoy. To make matters worse, one of our meals was served on a chipped plate with a noticeable section missing from the rim. This should have been caught and removed from service before reaching a guest's table. The staff members we interacted with were friendly and professional despite clearly being stretched thin. Unfortunately, between the staffing shortage, the overcooked steak, the poorly prepared potatoes, and the chipped plate, the overall experience did not reflect the quality level suggested by the menu prices and atmosphere. There is potential here, but management needs to focus on staffing and quality control to ensure guests receive the experience they are paying for.

We ordered a half-and-half pizza with the Classic Cheese on one side and the Newbie on the other. The Classic Cheese comes with mozzarella, red sauce, pecorino, parmesan, and fresh basil. While cheese pizza may seem simple, this one was anything but! The blend of cheeses was incredibly flavorful, the cheese pull was perfection, and the fresh basil added not only brightness but additional flavor that truly made this cheese pizza stand out from other places! The Newbie comes with a combination of red sauce, mozzarella, roasted garlic, caramelized shallots, pecorino, parmesan, hot honey, and Italian sausage; However, we substituted that for chicken. This pizza is the perfect balance between savory and sweet. Every bite was packed with flavor! One of our favorite things was the thin crust--it had the perfect crispness while still holding all of the toppings beautifully. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was just as enjoyable. The restaurant is cozy, inviting, and beautifully decorated with artwork that gives the space so much character. It made for a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal with family! When a few additional members of our party arrived, the staff flat-out refused to let us pull up an extra chair or move any of the seating to accommodate them. What made this especially frustrating was that half the establishment was completely empty at the time. When you are paying top dollar for craft cocktails in a lounge setting, you expect a certain level of hospitality and flexibility. We were nice and asked but was met with coldness that did not match the venue. The last time I was here the service was friendly, so not sure what changed. While the drinks are visually impressive, the rigid and unaccommodating seating policy put a definite damper on our evening. We quickly closed out and went to dinner early so a business associate would not be left standing the entire time.
