But after this weekend's…read morevisit to Amigoni, I can't wait to show visitors this stunning winery with delicious wines! As part of a birthday party, we joined some friends at Amigoni for the first stop, and we all loved the ambiance (stunning, calm, lovely staff) so much that we stayed over 3 hours! We sat in the back bar/barrel room area (back bar was closed that day), but it was a great space for a larger group to be able to spread out and not take up all the space in the front bar area. The barrels gave the room a cozy feel! I'm a fan of wine, but a lot of our friends are not huge wine drinkers--so while they have a lot of great wine to taste (I'll get to that soon!), they also have local drafts and non alcoholic options for your friends/family members who aren't into wine or who don't drink. For their wines, when I went on a Saturday they had two wine flight options, which the staff said they change about every two weeks! I got the basic flight to get a better idea of their standard wines, and I wasn't disappointed with any of them--and as others have noted, they are pretty heavy with their tasting pours, just FYI! I was able to try the Urban White Blend (chardonnay and viognier), Cabernet Franc Rose (one of their original makes from the early days), Sangiovese, Zinfandel, and the Select (petit verdot and tannat). All were lovely and delicious! Thanks to everyone at Amigoni Winery who made the birthday celebration special, cozy, and delightful! Can't wait to go back and enjoy more wines next time!

The space was in a pretty quiet street, across from a pretty non-descript office building. I wasn't expecting too much inside but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the interior had much more personality than the outside. The interior had high ceilings, the bar was on the left and before we sidled up to the bar we explored the space. There was an upstairs space that looked down into the lobby and the rear area had a bar and was also nicely decorated. The rear area had a little more people so we decided to go back up front. We decided to do both of the tasting options and share. I enjoyed the limited production tasting better and the reds over the whites. Like with a lot of tastings, the wine club was pushed but since I was only staying one more day I wasn't interested. However, our host did give us a taste of the T10 which I enjoyed so much that I bought a bottle of that. I shared it with some people who know and enjoy wine and they were also pleasantly surprised with it.

My guest and I popped in here to buy a bottle or two to-go..we ended up staying for a couple hours and walked out with a whole box of different wines! We met one of the owners (who was the kindest soul!) and we ended up staying for a wine tasting. Would totally recommend doing a tasting, all of their wines are delightful so you should really try a variety! Being in Kansas City and in the middle of the United States I wasn't sure what to expect from this wine bar, but the owners are from Oregon and actually grow their grapes more like they do on the West Coast. I learned a lot talking to the owners and staff here, they are very knowledgeable and definitely not pretentious! They also do wine slushies and sangrias which are so tasty! We got a couple to-go to enjoy while watching a movie back at our Airbnb. They had a lovely spot for outdoor seating and the vibe here was great. I am 100% coming back here again when I'm in Kansas City!! This place was the best!! Thank you for such an amazing time!

The store is always clean and well organized. Everyone I've ever encountered at this store has been lovely. Super professional, knowledgeable, and always nice. Every month they hold a wine tasting event that samples the offerings of their monthly $100 case. It's $10 but you get that off of the case if you happen to buy one. You can mix and match the offerings to suit your tastes. It's a really great way to try different wines even if you're not sure you want to buy an entire case. I highly recommend watching their social and signing up for their email to see what events are upcoming. They also create wine grab bags with the leftover case offerings. For $48 you get six bottles of wine that are all different styles in a nice wine tote bag. I love doing this for Christmas gifts. It's a wonderful deal. If you're in the area definitely pop in and check them out!

Little did I know that President Truman's political rise was deeply rooted in Kansas City--and facilitated by Tom Pendergast's sprawling web of influence, from concrete contracts to control of the police. It quickly becomes clear why they called it Tom's Town. I booked a tour at the last minute on a Saturday night, showed up 15 minutes early, and eased into the evening with a few sips of a perfectly made Old Fashioned--yes, you're allowed to bring it with you on the tour. From there, it was part distillery walkthrough, part Prohibition-era storytelling, and part generous spirits tasting. Our guide, Tony, was outstanding--enigmatic, passionate, and incredibly articulate. He brought the history to life without ever feeling rehearsed or dry. The dimly lit lounge rooms seal the deal, giving the entire place an authentic speakeasy vibe that feels both polished and transportive. If you're in Kansas City--even briefly--this is a must. Come for the cocktails, stay for the history.
