A visit to Weston is always a good time, especially if you check out Pirtle Winery! They have so many amazing wines in both bottles and cans, including mead and some hard cider. The blueberry wine is a must try. Their meads are amazing and come in honey, blackberry or raspberry. We like the blackberry the best, but all are amazing. They make some amazing fruit based wines with apple, cherry, blueberry etc. Wine slushes are fun to try too and very yummy. The tasting is definitely fun and informative. The restaurant next door has some great choices inducing pizza and finger foods. Definitely come to Pirtle and then stay to check out the rest of downtown Weston. read more

Wines in Missouri? Ok, I'll try it. This is basically a tasting room (as in it's not sitting on an expanse of land with vines everywhere). It's in a beautiful, old building, of course. $5 for a tasting and you can literally taste EVERY wine they offer. Hint: It's a lot of wines! And that $5 tasting fee is waived if you buy enough bottles of wine from them. There are a couple of the more traditional red, white, and rose varieties. But the bulk of the wines here are fruit ones, and there is some mead too. And, spoiler alert, the fruity wines and mead are damn tasty. And be sure to leave room for some wine slushies. Holy moly those things are dangerously fab and delicious! So so yum. And you can sit outside on their balcony whilst you enjoy that slushie. And the staff were friendly and great to chat with. We always stop by Pirtle when in Weston. I honestly can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet! I love spending a Sunday afternoon in Weston, starting at Pirtle! I have been there many times, so I rarely do a tasting now, but they do offer one for $5. As a dry wine drinker, I like the Alhambra, the Weston bend white, and the Westonian. I also enjoy a slushee in the summer! The last time we were in, we were offered a sample of the cider, and I would definitely order that too. My mom, sister, and I went here on a busy busy Saturday! Despite the flood of people inside and long line waiting, the service was phenomenal! They did not rush us through the tasting at all and offered more than the allotted 5 tastings and the wine slushy. The wine slushy, wow! It was amazing and you must try! I've been here on a warm day and sat in the garden, it was wonderful! I would say the only negative thing I have to share is that they don't offer tasting downstairs on the busy days and they should to spread the crowd, and there is no way upstairs to the main level without walking up a ton of steps so if you need a more accessible area, this is not the place. read more

This is still one of our most favorite wineries when we visit my husband's family in Missouri! Sooo many delicious wines! There is something here for everyone! The frozen wine slushies are amazing! Be sure to try them and purchase some bags of the slush mix and Mellow Red wine!!! (add rum to the mix too). They had just recently come out with canned wine!!! 4 cans is equivalent to 2.5 bottles of wine!! Wowzers!! I purchased a 4 pack of the Weston Bend Rose' and we also took home bottles of Blackberry Mead, Cherry Chocolate, Apple Wine and a couple bottles of Mellow Red to make their amazing wine slushies! This winery is truly as good as it gets. I don't think I can visit Weston without at least a quick stop for a glass of wine! To start, and one of the most important pieces, the customer service is amazing - the staff are fantastic! I love doing a quick little tasting, and there are plenty of wines and meads on the tasting menu! This past time my best friend and I decided to go with the rose and a picnic basket. The picnic baskets, by the way, are GENIUS. The large comes with a loaf of bread, three different cheeses, a summer sausage, an apple, and a cutting board and knife inside. We took this right onto the back deck with our bottle of wine and had the best afternoon. It is truly peaceful sitting out back, though some afternoons they have live music which is also fun! Downtown Westport, this little spot is one of my favorite wineries I've been to north of KC! The tasting room was amazing and there wasn't a single sample I didn't enjoy. They have a 5 for $5 deal where you can sample front their wine list. And they offer 2 different wine slush options. When we went, they had a red and white wine slush on the menu. Due to COVID, their food selection was limited, but we were able to order the Small Picnic Basket to share and it was delicious! Inside was a loaf of sourdough bread, summer sausage, two types of cheese and an apple. We sat outside in the greenhouse area and it was a perfect setting to enjoy a glass, or four. Pirtle is one of my favorite wineries in the kc area. I have been here many times over the past several years. I love their shaded patio outside. My one recommendation is to bring some mosquito repellent in the summer. My husband and I came here last week. We didn't do a wine tasting this time, but we bought a chilled bottle of blackberry mead to enjoy outside. We also got a couple of bottles of wine to take home. The wine was fantastic! Went last Sunday on a whim and had a great time with my sister. We spilt of bottle of sweet red and had a small basket. It was delicious. The basket had bread, cheese, sausage, and a green apple. You cut it yourself and enjoy! The atmosphere is so nice too. We sat outside by the building where the wood chips are in the shade. Very relaxing and with pretty flowers and foliage. And we had a pina colada wine slushie that was really good! My first experience at a winery and I AM HERE FOR IT. Stumbled upon Pirtle after a lovey morning hike in Weston State Park and I am eagerly looking for the next time that I can go back. We did a wine tasting for $5 (incredible, I know) and our wine connoisseur allowed us to sample way more than just 5 wines. They had a great selection of some reds, whites, and more fruity beers. Especially liked the raspberry flavored and a very good house Cabernet. Pirtle can fit all of your wine needs from bottles, to cans of wine (yes, a can which is the equivalent of 2-3 glasses), to wine slushees. Next time I will be delightfully slurping up a wine slushee on their patio when I don't have to drive home. read more

A few friends and I had a wonderful wine tasting experience at the Pirtle winery. They have a nice selection of a few whites, reds, fruit wines a hard apple cider and Meade. They give you a sheet that describes the choices and you can select five for your five dollar tasting fee. They also have wine slushies that you can purchase--two types. I had an old bottle that has been sitting on my window sill as a decoration for years. We called to let them know we would be there at 5:02 and they closed at 5:00. They didn't seem to care. This winery is so much fun! We went on a Monday afternoon. Brook was there doing the tastings and she was great. She had a lot of knowledge about the wines. What was great was she shared her knowledge but then also talked to you about what you liked or didn't like. After the tasting we bought a picnic basket and opened a bottle to enjoy in the garden. We stopped in here and did a tasting for 2 (which is waved if you purchase 3 bottles/per person). If you're nice enough they may be convinced to waive the tasting fee Their wine slushees are awesome $5 for a 6 oz? Pour. Whereas other wineries charge around $9 for a slightly larger one. I thought these had a lot of bang for their buck. We're big fans of their mead and like all of them. With our new fav being the effervescent (sparkling) mead. Their port is also awesome at 750ml for about $40/bottler. Again, some of the local wineries sell port too, but in the tall 325ml or 350ml? For nearly the same cost. They also had a cute assortment of T-shirt's and cute wine tumblers. I didn't inquire on the T-shirt cost but the yeti-like wine tumblers were around $18.....a lil steep for my wallet. They have an upstairs and covered downstairs patio. No real food is served. They do have picnic baskets for $16 and $25 or $30. I didn't see what was in them tho. A more cost effective snack assortment would be nice. read more

So an adorable little winery for sure, with some great options and a helpful staff. I had to know off a star because I bought a mixed case to tote back home with me to Michigan. 1- it would be very helpful if the winery had some basics on site to help with packaging for transport, just things as simple as bubble wrap and packing tape. 2- I ordered 3 bottles of the rose as part of my mixed case. Inwasvery dismayed when I got home to discovered is instead recieved 3 bottles of the standard red, not the requested rose. I hadn't even sampled the red, so I'm not sure where the mix up occurred. Should have checked. Just recommend double checking if you buy in quantity that you receive what you've asked for. Otherwise, highly recommend visiting! read more

Winery located in an old historic church. We stopped in for a "tasting" on a Saturday afternoon... quite the experience. The lady serving us was apparently very busy and didn't have the time to do a proper tasting... she basically threw a few different types of wine at each of us... it seemed more like doing shots at a frat-house rather than a proper wine tasting. Otherwise... it is a lovely winery. A great little restaurant outside under the vines with a great appetizer menu. Prices are a bit high but acceptable for a small-town locally-owned winery. Loved this place! We only stopped here because because we were going to the Weston Brewing Company for a tour, and it's literally across the street; I'm glad we did. All of the wines were good, and not just because the tasting was free! By far the best were the Port and the blueberry champagne (oops!... "Effervescent wine"). The host was very nervous about some of the wines, "This is a new recipe", "This one is /very/ young. It'll get better!" I think she said that like 5 times, but I think that experimentation is the key to finding out what works, so I love that. Finally, I was pleased that we weren't looked down on for simply wanting to try the wine, and not playing the whole 'tasting' game that is so popular with the snobs. read more
