This is such a hidden gem! RiverWood Winery located just North of Weston between Weston and Atchison is totally worth a visit. They have so much to offer. You can visit their tasting room and wine bar and get a tasting 4 wines for just $5 or 8 wines for $10. You can then order by glass or bottle after. They have a variety of handcrafted Riverwood Wines. They also do International tasting which is so cool. They also have a Whiskey and Cocktail Bar - they have over 500 whiskies which is one of the largest whisky collection in the KC metro area. They have an amazing Gourmet Kitchen that provides fresh food paired perfectly with their wines. They offer a variety of events. Be sure to check out their page and calendar for all upcoming events. This is now one of my favorite spots and I'm excited to go in for my monthly tasting. Be sure to check them out and follow along for all hidden gems of KC

Visited here for the Edgar Allen Poe reading. So fun! I had never been here before and I was pleasantly surprised at the grounds. Lots of seating options: on the lawn, under a covered patio and inside. The bar area was huge and had whiskey, non alcoholic options and of course wine- theirs and international ones. Food menu had some great options. We bought a bottle of German wine (we didn't like any of their wines) and ordered the charcuterie board and the apple/sausage flatbread. The flatbread was delicious! The bread was soft and yet a bit crispy on the edges and the toppings were plentiful. The charcuterie board had plenty of cheeses, cold cuts, flatbread slices, vegetable salad (?) and dipping sauces. I was disappointed there were no olives though. We sat on the covered patio that had overhead heat lamps which helped to keep us warm. I loved the vibe there! All the servers were so friendly and everything was clean and well kept.

This winery is perfect for the whole family. The kids can play in the grass while the adults enjoy their drinks. They have a large selection of scotch and bourbon and of course wine. I recommend the recently added Riverwood Sauvignon Blanc. We ordered the jalapeño popper flatbread and the Premium Bistro board. The board is well worth it! This winery also has live music every weekend evening. Perfect winery getaway from the city!

Great winery, with not only wines, but one of the biggest whiskey selections I have ever seen. Artisan pizza, flat bread and hummus, charcuterie boards all for sale, or they don't mind you bringing your own picnic. Live music every Friday, Saturday and Sundays, just added Thursdays to their summer hours. Outdoor or indoor seating, it's located in an old schoolhouse.

What a great way to spend a beautiful day! Bring your own picnic lunch or order from the gourmet menu. There's something for everyone! This is a winery but they have a fantastic whiskey select as well! Enjoy the drive, take in the views, and make memories!

Lovely winery. They have a large open seating area, a bar area with wine and whiskey tasting and a good food menu. Awesome outdoor seating. The wine tasting flights were reasonably priced. I tried the seasonal caramel apple. It was a good refreshing drink. But my favorite was the Pumpkin Pie Irish Coffee. Just what you need on a cold day! The flatbread pizza seemed to be a crowd favorite and I can see why. We had the southwest and BBQ chicken. Both were super tasty. Loved the sauce on the southwest. Super friendly service. Can't wait to go back!

HIDDEN TREASURE!!!! On a girls trip we stopped for cocktails and had a great time sitting on the patio and enjoying the charcuterie board! Lots of "flight" options, the bestie chose wine, but as a non wine drinker I was impressed with the options for bourbon flights!

I came to visit Atchison for a wedding, and my aunts kept raving about this winery and their slushies! It was so nicely decorated, and very spread out, so you don't feel crammed together. It was reasonably priced. My favorite was the charcuterie board, blush of innocence rose and the live music. Bethany helped me with making a wine selection. I ended up taking to bottles home with me back to Oklahoma. All in all it was a relaxing experience, highly recommend!

We visited Riverwood winery today. The place is great for social distancing- it is on a farm and tables outside are spread far apart. The inside is closed currently, but they have a gray bar set up outside. They have a pre-packaged wine tasting kit, which is a fantastic idea! Unfortunately, I didn't love any of the dry wines. We got a round of wine slushees, which were good!

Always outstanding! Of you need a good relaxing day join us at the tables outside for adult beverages, music and food.

Great place to relax! Live music and one of the few places I've found where you can sample wines and whiskeys in the same place!

The service and food are top notch. Between the live music and the countryside backdrop, the ambiance cannot be beat. It is so relaxing here!

The Belfry is upstairs and is the restaurant started by James Beard award winning chef, Celina Tio. On this occasion, we already had dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant, but had decided to go downtown early to have drinks and an appetizer beforehand. We chose to go the speakeasy in the lower level of the Belfry building called Ground Control. The room that houses Ground Control is small and intimate. There were a few two top high tops and a long table with about 8 tall chairs and bar seating. Since we arrived early, we were the only table and there were 4 of us so we sat at the long table. I dubbed it a speakeasy since it has that speakeasy vibe, but the official designation for Ground Control is "A tasting room and cocktail lounge." They make their own spirits called ANNX Spirits. John, the expert mixologist guided us through an interesting cocktail menu, and we all chose different drinks to sample. We all enjoyed our choices, and would definitely return. The cocktail menu changes with the seasons, so if you want to try the summer offerings you should do so soon. Give Ground Control a try because you won't be disappointed.

The beer and whiskey options are fantastic! So many different things to try - many of which I hadn't heard of before. Our group tried different beers as well as a few of their whiskey cocktails. We really enjoyed all of our choices. The only reason this is not a 5-star review is that the bartender was not very personable. We are the type of people that like to try different things, so we have questions and would like some options or opinions from those that work there. She didn't really offer much banter or discussion, poured our drinks, and then left and never really followed up. She sat behind the bar, chatting with what seemed like a friend, and never checked in again. And when we went up to the bar to order another drink, it felt like we were interrupting her chat.
