Actually 4 and one half stars. A recent visit I found the food to be excellent and the service was also excellent. But, let's say it's not handy to get to since the street is blocked off for outdoor dining. I will go back because the food is great, but not until the street opens up. read more

Food was amazing and service was good. Ate at the bar and it still felt I was being catered too. Jennifer is an amazing bartender ! Are the lobster ravioli and it was phenomenal and bruschetta for a starter. Has the cosmo and it was just amazing and perfectly blended. read more

I really wanted to love this place and had high expectations given the reviews. The bar was a 5 - super friendly bartender who really made you feel welcome. Nice selection of wines. The decor was also a 5 - a really cozy place. The food was a 4 - we had the Lemon Chicken and Veal Pizzaiola. The Lemon Chicken was good but really could have used a starch to accompany the dish - like potatoes, rice or pasta. The veal was pounded extremely thin - but it was tasty. So why the 3 rating? Service. It started out ok but then deteriorated. Our server took our order - then it took quite awhile for our food to arrive - and once it did arrive, he didn't check in to see if everything was to our liking. Plates weren't cleared for some time, water glasses weren't filled and we had to track our server down for the check. They weren't particularly busy and seemed to be well staffed. When you are going out for a nice meal, the service level can make our break the experience. Unfortunately, we didn't have the best experience. I would , however, be inclined to give the place another try because it has the potential to be really good. read more

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it was fantastic! It was just like eating at the North end! Highly recommend! read more

A new true gem in Waltham, not to be missed! We are recent Italian immigrants, obviously rabid about authentic Italian food. Therefore, our standards are very high and we don't compromise. We have been knowing the chef Dante Balducci since a while , from his previous place in Newton. Therefore, we were excited to try out his new place in Waltham. In short, we have been simply blown away by the quality, the experience and Dante's hospitality. Vinotta is classy, but not intimidating. It features several seating solutions, including outdoor dining. Dante is a perfect host, brilliant, welcoming and truly makes you feel you are having one of the best meals of your life seating in your dining room. As appetizers, the grilled octopus and the homemade meatballs are to die for. As pasta, the pappardelle Don VIncenzo, the Lobster ravioli and the Porcini truffle pappardelle are all awesome choices. But every entrees in the menu is simply outstanding. The seabass with Yukon potato is also delicious. A great ending is the Limoncello mascarpone, but every dessert is worth trying, so save some space for the end! A new landmark place not to be missed (and to check out over and over again). Buon appetito! read more

From the hot bread to the drinks to the food to the service to the atmosphere it couldn't have been better! Our bartender was super friendly and made us feel cared for even though she was very busy. The pasta dish portions were substantial. The mushroom pappardelle dish was great, but the star of the show was the pappardelle don Vincenzo. There was lots of fresh, perfectly cooked seafood atop amazing homemade pasta and a pink cognac cream sauce that I wish I could eat every day. The espresso martini was excellent, too. I can't wait to go back! read more

Wonderful food! This is my first time ordering food from Vinotta. I ordered veal marsala and my husband ordered chicken Americano. We also ordered a side of broccoli rabe. The food was ordered via Grubhub and arrived warm enough to eat without being reheated. Our meals were just delicious. The veal marsala was one of the best I've had in years. My husband loved his chicken Americano. The broccoli rabe also was yummy. Although not inexpensive, the meals were ample. Not being big eaters, both my husband and I had enough food for two meals. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be ordering from them again, very soon. Vinotta is now on my favorite restaurants list! read more

We just moved to Waltham and ate here on a Friday night. Food was fantastic and priced right. Service was friendly and attentive. We got the salmon risotto, artichoke chicken, and bruschetta! Delicious. read more

The hostess tonight was the rudest I have ever encountered. We came 15 minutes early for our reservation and were told we would have to wait (which we were totally fine with). While waiting outside, another family the same size as our party came and mentioned that they did not have a reservation but wanted to check out how long it would be for a table. They went in and were told by the hostess that a table would be made up right away. We watched as she asked another couple, who were already seated, to get up and move tables so she could fit in this party that just arrived without a reservation. She sat them right away and let us continue to wait. She then lied to our party and told us they had a reservation, even though we spoke to them outside and they told us themselves that they did not. After waiting a while past our reservation time we finally decided to just leave and find another spot to eat at. Very disappointing. read more

Excellent food and service! The restaurant is clean and neat. My waiter Tony was amazing. He helped pare our wine with our meal. Looking forward to returning there. read more

Loved my experience here. Our server showed us photos of the specials which were amazing. The food was authentic and delicious!

When I first walked in I was excited as the interior atmosphere looked really nice. I was hoping to add another restaurant to my favorites list. Sadly I ended up going home dissapointed. Service was very slow, my appetizer and drink were brought out and then I didn't see my wait person for over 30 minutes. I considered just asking for a check at that point but I decided to give them a chance. When the wait person finally came by, he seemed to be in a rush to leave as I was putting in my order. I had the artichoke chicken and it was average at best. My gf ordered one of their salads and asked for grilled salmon on it and it did not come out as expected. Her plate was a piece of salmon covered in this buttery cream sauce with a few pieces of lettuce next to it. She did not enjoy it. When we saw the bill I realized that they ended up putting it in as salmon risotto. So they just decided to give us something completely different from what we ordered. We decided it was not worth arguing and just counted it as a loss. Very overpriced for bad service and average quality food. Will not be returning. read more

We were very excited to try this new restaurant opened by Dante from Tartufo's Restaurant in Newton, MA. The food was spectacular - authentic Italian with a modern flare. Service was great and the ambience and decor is gorgeous. Will definitely be back again! read more

The place is way overpriced for a Moody Ste Waltham restaurant. The owner and "chef". DANTE , used to be chef and co-owner at Tartufo Restaurant in Newton, also high priced but at least a nice area. Some prices compared to portions are OK but $$ outrageous, no value for what is charged. i I do not trust them because a number of people commented on their Facebook that the location for a "gourmet" restaurant was not good and they might not make it. What was their reaction: They removed posts from at least 3-4 can anyone trust a place that hides comments not to their liking?people with similar posts. They apparently only want accolades , not trustworthy.. read more

Vinotta consistently serves outstanding meals and has exceptional service every time my boyfriend and I dine there!

Once again, hands down best authentic Italian food I have been able to enjoy. Mi Mama is the number 1 cook for me but Dante is a close second. Very, very special place... read more

We've gone to this restaurant 10+ times over the last year and if there is a word it is "inconsistent." We've have every combination of food/service from outstanding to mediocre. Last night was below mediocre. I had overcooked GF pasta, Broken Pasta Carbonara, if you will, but I've also gotten it great. Usually the food is better than the service, so last night was a real disappointment with both lacking. Part of the service problem is management. The owner focuses a lot on chatting up friends, and misses every opportunity to also serving as Captain, seeing and fixing what's wrong, being in charge of quality control. After so many outings I'm conflicted about going back. read more

Vinotta was located in Newton center and recently just moved to Moody st in Waltham. My boyfriend and I decided to try it out for my 21st birthday and I was no disappointed. The environment was so welcoming and one of the servers Dante, checked in on us frequently and offered us different dishes and complimentary wine. We also got free limoncello shots. The food was absolutely delicious as well and tasted like authentic Italian. I will be coming here again and recommend everyone tries it as well if you are looking for a new, friendly, Italian restaurant with great management. read more

Octopus was fishy and tasted like the chef squirted yellow mustard all over it. Frutti di Mare had not exactly fresh seafood and the dish was flavorless. Red sauce was really bland. Really makes me mad that people charge big money for previously frozen seafood and not well executed dishes. Clearly they have a cook, not a chef, and they don't care about the quality of the ingredients. Don't waste your money. read more

My parents were in town and wanted some "real" Italian food but didn't want to deal with the traffic and parking heading to the North End so we gave Vinotta a try and it did not disappoint! We started off with an appetizer, their calamari, which was tasty and tender. Next I ordered their carbonara and asked for grilled chicken breast on the side for a protein. Last time I had carbonara I was in Rome 6 years ago and never forgot that dish. This dish came pretty close! My dad ordered the lobster ravioli and had no problem finishing it in minutes. My mom ordered a beef tenderloin dish and also had no problem finishing the dish. The portion sizes were just enough to be filling but not overwhelming and allow room for dessert. Speaking of which, it was my dad's birthday so we ordered desserts. He and my mom had their crème brûlées and I ordered the tiramisu. Our server was so kind to bring out my dad's dessert and sing to him. Everything about our experience was wonderful. I am only sorry we had to inconvenience the staff to help us retrieve my mom's dropped cell phone between the wall and the booth seating we had. (She shouldn't have placed her phone on the booth like that to begin with!) Thank you for your patience with us! I would most certainly recommend whether it's a family, business or date dinner, this is a perfect little authentic Italian treat right in your neighborhood. read more

Vinotta's food and welcoming atmosphere are astoundingly excellent. Danteè Bellucci has hit a home run with his newest creation. We've done takeout 3 times with the same amazing response to this delicious food. The Shrimp Tagliatelle, the Rigatone al Ragu, the Lemon Chicken, the Grilled Angus Beef Tenderloin and the Pacific Bass were all equally some of the best dishes we've had in recent memory. Any restaurant that can pull off this kind of quality and taste in a take out container, must be on any Foodies' must try list! BTW, the wine list is also equal to the task of standing up to such fine cuisine at a fair price. Once Covid-19 is in the rear view mirror it'll be hard to get a reservation at this place. Five 's all the way! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The food was atrocious compared to what I was expecting out of the former owner of Tartufo located in Newton, MA. I have visited Tartufo many times so my expectations were high and they were not met, not even close. The staff and service were unprofessional and there was a woman there I think her name was Carol who just had a stuck up vibe that made me and girl friends very uncomfortable. At one point we even saw her blow her nose, not washing her hands after and handling cups behind the bar. GROSS!!! To top everything off chef Dante was creepy and was very touchy feely and too close for comfort during a time when we are in the middle of a pandemic!! Seriously??? Also- WAY overpriced for food you could get basically get at bertuccis. None of us will ever go back. Much better off at Tartufo. Stay away from this place!!! read more
