Starting off with the octopus and mussels was the right choice. The octopus had a nice char on it and was perfectly cooked. The octopus had a little heat which was more than welcomed. Overall, the star of the show was the scallop risotto. The saffron really came through and the vinegar glaze on top of the scallops really helped cut through the richness of the risotto. The cannoli was the perfect end as it wasn't too sweet. Overall, it was a really nice evening filled with good food and conversation. read more

My friend and I came for an early dinner on a Friday without reservations and were able to get seated right away. As the night went on, it got more crowded and by the time we left the restaurant was packed! Our server was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere and vibes were classy. For food I got the gnocchi which was really fresh and delicious. It had great texture and flavor. We ended the night sharing the lava cake which you can never go wrong with! I really enjoyed the ambiance. I thought the service was friendly. My aperol spritz was perfect. I enjoyed the antipasti. My favorite was the bruchetta. The prociutto was young but tasty but the cantaloupe was young too which was ok but it wasn't ripe..it really needed to be sweet. The porcini parpadelle was perfect! I loved it....so good. The chicken marsala was ok. The sauce was on the sweeter side and tasted more like a red wine sauce. The chicken was a bit dry and should have been more tender and seasoned. Meal and service were decent...but would come here again to try other dishes. My friend and I were craving pasta so we decided to go here. We ended up being seated outside because it was so busy. We first started off with the Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio. This was pretty good and super high quality, but I don't think I would get it again for the price we paid (about $20 for 7 slices and a small salad). I ended up getting Gnocchi Alla Pecorara and my friend got the Homemade Caserecce Carbonara. I tried both dishes and I actually liked the Carbonara more than the Gnocchi. They both came out really hot but for both dishes, the pasta was a bit overcooked. It would've been nice if the pasta was al dente. The carbonara sauce was a little on the underseasoned end, but it was ok. As for the Gnocchi, the tomato-basil sauce was 99% tomato and 1% basil. I didn't really taste the basil in the sauce (except for when I ate the single basil leaf that was used for garnishing). The service also was mediocre, we spent a long time waiting for our waiter to come out and check up on us so we could get the bill. Once we asked for the bill, it took some time for us to actually receive the bill to pay. Additionally, we were only given two pieces of bread and never asked if we wanted more. The food did come out rather quickly, I will say that I think the chef brought it out, which was very nice. I think I would come here again to try their seafood dishes, but probably wouldn't get the same things again. read more

Yesterday we had a party of 5 for a Mothers Day lunch at 2:00 pm. From the warm greeting to the impeccable service everything about this beautifully decorated restaurant is simply the best. We started with a bottle of Veueve Cliquot yellow, was excellent. Then for apps we went a little nuts and did the mussels, eggplant involtini, meatballs and the burratta. All of it was freaking amazing! My entree was the veal piccata and it was super tender. The casarece carbonara, the gnocchi and the lobster raviloli were perfect. We went to Lizzy's for dessert! We went back again for takeout. Octopus was very sour. I thought it was ok, but not sure most ppl would like it that sour. Papardelle with porcini & truffle was too creamy for my liking & has 0 truffle flavor. Tiramisu was good, not the best I've had. This meal was 3/5. Service was quick & courteous. My partner and I went here for his birtbday. I made a reservation for 6:30 pm via Open Table on Vinotta's website. We were seated right away when we got there at 6:25. This place was packed on a Wednesday evening so I highly recommend making reservations. Service was very quick without any wait time like a well-oiled machine: from ice water, bread, cocktails, and entrees. We got in at 6:25pm and left the restaurant at 7:05pm. I highly recommend the espresso martini and carbonara although Brelundi's phased-out carbonara was still the best I've ever had outside of Italy. My partner loved his gnocci but thought his fig martini was too orangey. Since it was my partner's birthday, he received a complimentary cannoli with a birthday candle. The cannoli was the perfect size, creaminess, and sweetness. It was way better than Mike's Pastries and Modern Pastries in the North End. read more

I love this place! YOU HAVE TO TRY THE MUSHROOM PEPPERDELLE. It was so creamy, packed with umami flavor, delicate shaved truffle on top, and perfectly al dente house made pepperdelle. I still think about it to this day and I will probably make the 45 min drive to go back for this one dish... Our table also got the burratta, gnocchi, veal, salmon risotto, and tuna avocado tower. All great, but the mushroom pepperdelle really takes the cake. I went there for the first time a few weeks back and just loved this place. Small intimate restaurant with exceptional food and service. I had grilled octopus to start and had the seafood with homemade pappardelle, delicious. My SO had caprese salad with unbelievable mozzarella. They had the stripped bass which was delicious. We ended with some sambucca, espresso and tartufo. Great evening. My only comment is that seating for 2 is mostly at the bar or high tops near the bar (especially on Friday). We sat in the front near the window and I didn't feel like I was in the restaurant since I was facing street. Personal preference. A great time and restaurant. read more

I was incredibly disappointed in our meal here. It's not a cheap restaurant, as each meal ranges from $28-$40 per entree. We ended our dinner with a $250 check, which would have been fine if the "handmade" dishes they claim to serve on their menu were indeed homemade. When eating the gnocchi it was immediately clear to me that the gnocchi was actually a store bought gnocchi (Delallo's), not handmade like the restaurant advertises. The texture of the gnocchi was tough and rubbery, which is not at all reflective of fresh homemade gnocchi which has a light flurry texture. I even asked our waiter if the gnocchi was handmade as the menu states, and he said "yup, homemade". I definitely take offense to the restaurant falsely advertising handmade meals and up charging for cheap grocery store products. I feel for those who unknowingly select this spot for a "nice night out" not knowing that the restaurant doesn't serve quality meals as advertised. I had the pleasure of dining last night for the first time. It will most assuredly not be the last. My niece who is a Waltham resident highly recommended Vinotta. Evidently, she has exquisite taste. From the moment we walked in - fifteen minutes earlier than our seven pm reservation - the host was kind enough to bring us two chairs. Evidently, the fact that I use a cane swayed the host, but she was extremely gracious. Soon thereafter we were approached by a most genial owner who engaged us in lively conversation. Our dining experience before we tasted your offerings was sealed and delivered by the warm welcome your staff extended to us. And then the piece de resistance - the cuisine. Outstanding. I had the Lobster special which was as succulent as the seafood and parpadelle were sweet and sumptuous. My wife had the parpadelle with black truffles which she raved about without condition. The party we were with had the Red Snapper special and Bolognese. Again, you didn't disappoint as they both raved about their selections. We finished off our meals with the chocolate encrusted Spumoni - a delicious reimagined dessert. If I had one complaint - a minor one at that - I wish you had a choice of Bourbons available to choose from. High end to the middle of the road. The Angel's Envy is ranked the 49th bourbon - hardly a reason to brag. I found it to be overwhelmingly sweet with strong vanilla notes. This was my first time trying Vinotta. My boyfriend and I decided to mix it up and try a new place for takeout for New Years Eve. I loved our food and would love to eat at this restaurant in the future. My first favorite was that we got bread and butter with our takeout! A small thing, but this is the only restaurant I have had do this since becoming a takeout guru during COVID, and I love my bread! They were nice square rolls, crunchy outside and soft inside. I got the Buffalo mozzarella to start. So delicious. The cheese was nice and soft and was served with delicious fresh tomatoes. My boyfriend and I both tried the shrimp tagliatelle which we thought was excellent. My boyfriend also got the grilled angus beef tenderloin. Vinotta blew our minds...in a good way hehe. Since it opened up I have been dying to try it and when I had some family in town it gave me an excuse to stop by. We were warmly greeted by Fabrizio who took great care of us. We sat outside under the tent which was super comfortable even when it started to drizzle. I do recommend making a reservation as they get booked up! My sister ordered the beef tenderloin carpaccio and she was extremely impressed with the quality of the food. I had the carbonara and it was extra creamy and scrumptious, the perfect comfort food. They don't have a kids menu but were able to accommodate my nephew with a side of spaghetti and sauce which also turned out to be a dish on its own, I would order it for myself again. The kid doesn't usually like pasta but he finished the whole portion. We ended up going back two days later to do it all again. read more

We went with our adult kids who were in town. We wanted to catch up around a family meal.We ordered 4 appetizers, carbonara, veal chops, salads, sides, and lots of drinks from the bar. All were good. Garlicky where it was supposed to beand seasoned with a heavy hand of salt Food could have been hotter. Our waiter was rushed, frazzled but fit the bill with his thick, authentic, hard to understand Italian accent . Desserts were disappointing and tasted out of the box from a restaurant supply. The biggest annoyance and loss of a point is for these 5 old dudes who were allowed to sing Oldies and Christmas songs VERY loudly mariachi style to each table which went on throughout our meal.. we couldn't chat with our kids. I get takeout at least 2x a month from Vinotta. I actually love love their food but the last 3 times I got 2x's a clam dish and 1x a scallop dish. All 3xs the clams and scallops were not rinsed and was full of grit and sand and unable to eat it. I have been very disappointed since they have always been fabulous and having to throw away the expensive dishes is not cool. I am wondering why they are not rinsing the seafood before cooking it. I am definitely going to be taking a break from Vinottas for a while. read more
