Came here on Tuesday for the oyster specials. $2 each. I don't know the species of oysters, but the ones they serve have big bellies. I tend to sit at the bar. Service is great if they have two bartenders. read more

Came here Thursday night to watch and sing with our favorite live band karaoke. We sat in the main restaurant and ordered food. Our server was very kind and friendly. I ordered my usual Greek salad with salmon. Salmon was good crispy on the outside tender flaky inside. Salad greens were fresh and crunch, veggies cucumbers tomatoes and bell peppers fresh. Overall healthy and tasty meal. Hubs got his usual beet salad with salmon which he enjoyed as well. A friend ordered chicken tenders and fries which looked really good and she enjoyed it too. My friend and I both got hot waters which they accommodated no problem. Parking was easy - we lucked out and got parking in the lot behind the restaurant itself! Karaoke was super fun as usual! Singing with a live band takes it a while another level! Always a good time at Tempo! read more

Ever sing karaoke? But have you tried it with an actual live band? Tempo just started doing this every Thursday night, featuring the band Five Minutes of Fame! No cover charge even! I can't think of any other place in the greater Boston area that does this and they are amazing. They have a list of songs they can play on demand that is over 16 pages long, covering anything from pop, rock, country, RnB, ballads, showtunes, to metal. They give you an iPad with the lyrics mounted on a mic stand, a full four piece band (guitar, drums, bass, and keyboards), and the spotlight on stage. The crowd is so into it, it does not matter if this is the first time you've tried it or if you're a pro. Seriously, you can not find anything else like this out there of this quality for free. And for it to happen at a quality dining establishment is crazy. Make sure to come early (they start at 8:30pm) as the list fills up fast. Even the bar staff gets into it, and they are amazing. read more

Last Saturday at 6:15 we ordered takeout- dumplings appetizer, burger with side salad, scallops, jasmine rice & spinach. Door dash rang our bell in Newton at 7 & delivered warm, tasty food . We have ordered from there before & we certainly will order again. Everything was fresh, tasty. Their menu is varied. Those dumplings full of flavor. THANKS to the team at Tempo. TY for taping our bag closed so our food was warm. And, unlike many places which make mistakes , the order delivered was what we requested. Great job. Good meal. Happy customers read more

Sourdough bread was so good w the honey butter. The salad is a big portion n Sharable. Brussels sprouts was so good w blue cheese crumble n bacon. Any ban shrimp was ok. Thought it would be mixed w seasonings but came w a dipping sauce. For entrees we ordered the short ribs, pan seared sockeye salmon, shrimp stuffed sea bass and butternut squash risotto w buratta . Told me the cover was $6 and charged my card $26. then told me they "didn't give a fuck". they tried to say that it was because of my Bank of America card that they charged me $26. Over four times the amount!! they told me that the charge was pending and that it will go back to six dollars but that's still really weird. i've been to a lot of bars and that's never happened. SCAMMING. read more

Loved coming here. If you don't want to go all the way into the city, I would come here! Service was excellent and when we first came to visit many years ago it was for their dollar oysters . But they make their desserts in house and you can't go wrong with what you order here! Everything was delicious read more

Tried several dishes from Tempo as a family. Got 3 medium rare pork chops but they were not consistent. One of the pork chops happened to be slightly more raw and had a little too much red. Asked to cook it slightly more but it seemed as if the kitchen simply microwaved it. I could tell because the plate which it was on was hot, a telltale sign of a microwave. The pork chop turned out to be dry and stringy. Thankfully our server let us replace that pork chop with another item. Otherwise, the other 2 pork chops were nice and tender. Got 2 different fish dishes, both of which were made really nicely. Bell peppers were nicely made, very tender and without that strong grassy butter taste when done improperly. Fish was fresh. The restaurant was a little bit too loud but the decor was great. Overall, a nice restaurant to eat at except for that one inconsistency. read more

I really like the food here. It's relatively casual and very popular for the nearby residents. It's also known for their live entertainment. I got there early for dinner at 6: 15pm and it was packed! We have had the table for two by the window which was so very nice. Our server helped fix the wobbly table and there was a french fry by the foot of the table and I said oh there's a french fry and she said, "yeah there were kids here before." And then she walked away. I'm thinking you could have at least picked it up because that's just gross. Anyway, we ordered the Kung Pao cauliflower and it was a little too saucy for me. The truffle shoe string fries where good. What was a big hit for me was the most delicious pan seared scallops on risotto! They nailed it! I tried the short rib too which was very hearty and delicious. The tres leche dessert was marvelous and the sorbet was refreshing. I have to come back here at a later time to try the other dishes but if you're looking for something that is a casual environment but good food come here. read more

For an appetizer i had the fried calamari it was bland in flavor. For my main course i had pan seared salmon, jasmine rice and stir fry veggies that was really good. When we came in recently, there was a new manager on duty who was noticeably unwelcoming from the start. We were polite and simply asked about a special that was still clearly advertised on the restaurant's own website, but the manager refused to honor it. There was no real explanation offered and no effort to find a reasonable solution--just a flat refusal. read more

I often take out salads from Tempo with a protein on top. I haven't say a couple of things: First, the salads are noticeably smaller than they used to be; Second, the salmon quality and preparation has deteriorated-- the salmon I had last night was dry and blan. A recent order of steak on top of a salad was a cheaper cut -- not the hanger steak they used to offer. Time to find another place read more

While visiting Boston, we decided to stop at Tempo for dinner and were not disappointed. The service was attentive and helpful. The contemporary ambiance was inviting. We sourdough starter was delicious while we waited for our food. We ordered the Ranch salad with chicken and the coffee rubbed steak - wow! Everything was cooked perfectly. Dinner was so good we decided to try their house made desserts. The mixed berry crisp was not too sweet and the crust was delicious. Would highly recommend Tempo. read more

This place has a gorgeous atmosphere, great food and drinks. But one of my favorite things to do is join the Live Band Karaoke on Thursday evenings! It's great because they start fairly early (8:30ish). It's super fun and I highly recommend to check it out read more

The dish I decided to go with was Pan Seared New Bedford Sea Scallops & Shrimp. This dish was divine. I could probably eat it 3x a week and not get sick of it that's how good it was. It had tomato and turnip puree, melted leeks, Roasted tomato, and local mushroom, kale, and white truffle oil. The Chef of this dish for sure knows how to create a dish worth remembering. We did end up getting an appetizer on the specials menu, some truffle fries (to die for) and they brought me out a nice dessert for my B-Day and it was all around a very good experience. The service was enjoyable, our server was so cool and all-around a great feel of the environment. I also wanted to share a photo from my husband's dish, his dish of choice happened to be on the Specials Menu. It was the Chipotle Marinated Filets, he loved them! I can't wait to go back to TEMPO it's categorized as American Cuisine, and it for sure is American Cuisine but American done right. I love how detailed their menus were and everything tasted super fresh good for you. So if your ever in Waltham Massachusetts I totally recommend this savory spot! read more

Terrible experience. The manager, was clearly intoxicated--sloppily hanging around and speaking to women and making guests uncomfortable. Later, he exploded over a harmless tap on the shoulder, screaming in guests' faces, spitting while yelling, and ultimately kicking out four paying customers who weren't even involved. Incredibly unprofessional behavior from someone in uniform and on duty. I won't be returning and would caution others about how this place is managed read more

Great drinks, and imo one of the best places to spend a Thursday night! Every Thursday they do karaoke with a live backing band instead of a machine (I think it's 8pm-11pm? Unique menu with great choices and everything is fresh and extremely tasty . Highly reccommended

Drinks = good, tempura shrimp = good, dumplings + good, lamb empanadas = good, tres leches = good, and the kitchen let me do a custom combo. Excellent bourbon/whiskey/rye list, also tequila and scotches are interesting! Nice selection of appetizers, I had lobster rangoons (delish)! The interior bar and restaurant is comfortable and eye pleasing, especially the artwork on the southern wall. I found out tonight that on Thursday nights there's a dj in the back room, Friday and Saturday nights it's live music! ($5 cover) I gave this place five stars, not because of the above information but because of its fine staff (especially the bartenders!) YesI'll be back, gotta check out the weekend music scene here! read more

I am in such complete disapproval of this restaurant. After hearing great things about this restaurant, I decided to try it out with a girlfriend for dinner. We started with a round of cocktails, I got the spicy margarita and she got the honey & th Eric bees knees. I should have known to lower my expectations when my spicy margarita came out orange/red with no spicy salt on the rim, and it was actually on the sweeter side of the spectrum. Next up the food: we ordered the bang bang shrimp, the sweet potato bravas, and the Brussel sprouts for appetizers. The bang bang shrimp was so over cooked that you really needed to dip it into the dipping sauce just to swallow it. The Brussel sprouts were drenched in sauce and bleu cheese which overpowered the whole dish. Finally, we ordered the sockeye salmon for our main which came on a bed of basil risotto. The risotto was so heavily salted and the salmon was dry and well-done despite requesting that the fish be cooked medium. Perhaps it was an off night, but my friend and I were completely unimpressed. read more

My friend had been raving about this restaurant for months, so we finally joined for dinner. I LOVE their outside setup. I'm sure it will go away eventually, when Moody is back open to car traffic, but it's a perfect outdoor space right now.
