Stopped by today just to try it out! I really did like it. There honestly is nothing too special about this place its just good! White bread roll was very soft, ingredients were fresh. I was happy after eating. I really had no problems but it did not blow me away! I got the Roast Beef Avocado Swiss. I really did like it! I do feel that they should put more meat into it! Also you should know that the avocado is already mashed which is different to me! Oh and my friend and I thought it was so weird how you can go behind the counter to get your own drinks! So interesting. We kind of stood around until we saw the sign. OVERALL, very fresh! If I am in the area and craving a sandwich then I will deffinitely be back. I am really glad I stopped. I have passed by this place so many times and it's my first time as a customer! Pretty healthy options they have there, I like that they have a big part of the menu dedicated to avocado lovers. And I LOVE AVOCADOS!! You can also add that onto any sandwiches. The add-on list also includes sprouts, and I LOVE SPROUTS on my sandwiches. Just by judging from the above, I know I am going to love this place. After some serious thoughts, I went with the mushroom, avocado, provolone on wheat with sprouts. Quite a few staffs working at the station, and they move pretty fast! A lady before me ordered 3 sandwiches so I thought it will be a long wait, but the 5-10mins wait go by pretty fast! They have a list that tells you what kind of things come with your sub/sandwich, as it is not up on the board look for it by the cashier! The full-sized sandwich is just the right size for me, a regular will be too small! The avocado didn't disappoint. Instead of sliced pieces, it is more of a creamy spread. I am not sure if they have put anything else in it because it is sooo yummy!! All the ingredients including the bread are so fresh! The sandwich was a very delicious one. I believe they don't toast the bread unless it is a sub, which I am fine with. Ask for light mayo if u need to as they do put quite a lot in it. For vegetarians, there are only 2 choices. But I am sure you can ask them to skip the meat if you see something you like off the menu. This place is like the local version of subway for me. Vince's Deli is definitely a nice treat for locals in the Pasadena area. Location Vince's Deli is hidden within a small strip mall consisting of little family owned shops and restaurants as well as a Vons. Since it is in a crammed strip mall parking can be difficult. The inside is small but houses a decent amount of chairs and tables; They also have a few outside tables. Food Avocado Special: Regular 6" Turkey, Sprouts, Avocado, and Swiss $5-6 Large Italian Coldcut: Large $6-7 Both sandwiches were lovely and left a nice impression. The meats tasted fresh and didn't come in a slimy texture which I appreciated. The vegetables they used were fresh and in good proportion to the sandwiches. They definitely didn't skimp on the avocado which is uncommon nowadays. They have a well-rounded selection of chips and drinks which allows you to add your own touch to any meal. They also have potato salad and pasta salad; I didn't try it though. Price The price of all sandwiches, drinks, and chips is extremely competitive when comparing them to other Delis. Employees The staff was nice, friendly, and patient with us as we grilled them about their menu. After the initial purchase the staff is pretty much nonexistent; similar to subway's process of serving customers. The thing I liked about them was that they didn't ignore us when we came to the counter they stopped what they were doing and actually paid attention to us rather than ignore us and continue on with their conversation like so many other places do. Sandwiches were good, that's not the problem. The problem is it taking the majority of a lunch hour just waiting for our sandwiches. Taking our order went fairly quick, even though there were a few people ahead of us. But waiting almost 40 minutes for our three sandwiches just isn't acceptable. I had just dropped off magazines at the hospital and I was famished and couldn't fathom driving too far. So I popped across the street and was treated to a little bit of what Grace Y calls "sammich heaven." What I had? Turkey, Avocado, Lettuce and tomato on a soft hogie roll. Actually had to buy an envelope & a stamp at the small post office here in the shopping center...and noticed Vince's Deli...and was mildy surprised to find it was open! Since all i had for breakfast was a bowl of cereal, i decided to hop in and see what was up with this place. Inside was small. But they have a decent selection of sandwiches to choose from - especially if you like avocados! They're open somewhat early, too (0830am). There are 7 small 2-person tables for you to sit at, and 3 taller 2-person tables. Friendly people behind the counter, good food, coffee & smoothies, too! They DO deliver - but it's only from 11-2 Monday thru Friday, AND it's a minimum 4-sandwich order. Will definitely come back for more. read more

I keep trying this place every time I get stuck visiting Huntington Hospital. And every time I am reminded why I would never come here if I was not stuck visiting Huntington Hospital. I have NO idea why this place has 4 and 5 star reviews. Their sandwiches are just a little better than the Hospital Cafeteria which is why people come here I guess. And yes they are reasonably priced. But if your bar is set soo low that all you have to do is be better than a hospital cafeteria, can you really call yourself a great sandwich shop???? 1) they never listen to your order. I have ordered several sandwiches on squaw bread only to receive them on different bread. You would think having 4 ladies there most of the time they could get the bread right. 2) if you do actually take the time to try and go back or complain over the phone they tell you the manager is not there. 12:45 pm on a Wednesday during the lunch rush apparently there is not manager on duty. 3) Even if you manage to get your sandwich the way you ordered it and in a timely fashion. Its really not any better than a sandwich you could make at home. I'm pretty sure this place is the reason there is a Subway on the hospital grounds now. As good as they say! Clean, fast, good sized portions of quality ingredients, served by happy people, proud of their product. Definitely bigger and better than Subway and less expensive than Togo's. We liked the balance between fillings and bread since we aren't big meat eaters. The latter would probably prefer the equally fun Pasadena Sandwich Company's humongous, meaty creations (especially anything with roast pork - their unique speciality). Bomb. I'm a huge fan of avocado so this place is already great in my book. I heard about this place through my hairstylist who actually frequents Vince's. I've been to this plaza a couple of times, but never noticed this mom and pop shop. I wish I tried it sooner, but if I'm ever in the area and craving a sandwich, I would come here. Vince's Deli is cheap and their portions are filling. I got the avocado and ham... My mouth is drooling just thinking about it. You have a variety of options for the type of bread, as well as cheese. When you're ordering, there's a list that is placed in front of you... Don't forget to look at that! I did and agreed to have everything added on, but I didn't like pickles so I had to take it out one by one. That's my own personal fault though. Their avocado is not like some typical sandwich spots where it's sliced, but it is mushed which makes it so much easier to eat and it doesn't slip out as much. A lot of people come here for lunch so be aware that it could get a bit crowded, but I think they do a good job getting orders out efficiently! read more

You know there is something wrong when you order a meatball and provolone sandwich and someone immediately goes to the walk-in and sticks a bag into the microwave. Definitely not made in house. I love this place. My go to is the Roast Beef with cream cheese on a toasted roll with everything on it. I dream about this sandwich. Family style sandwich shop, fresh breads, and quality ingredients. At lunch it gets packed so call in your order then pick it up. Also the parking can be crappy at lunch, I'd go at an off time to keep your sanity. Its open early for breakfast too! And right across the street from the Huntington Hospital so you can get some decent food if you are there. read more

I don't know what it is. I really wanted to absolutely love this place. Maybe I hyped it up for myself too much after reading Sarah A's review of this place. I love me a good sandwich. Walking in the space is long and narrow. It seemed to be run by 2 middle aged Korean women, with a hispanic young woman also taking orders with 3 more hispanic women making the sandwiches. Even nearing 1 o clock when the lunch rush typically dies down, this place still had a line 8-10 people deep. I browsed the menu and Sarah is right, one-third of their menu is dubbed "For Avocado Lovers". It was awesome. But being a cold and overcast day like it was today, I wanted a hot sandwich. What's hot sandwich is better than a pastrami? So I got a large Sub #6, which was pastrami and sauteed mushrooms on a roll with everything: lettuce, tomato, onions, pickle, mayo and mustard. I took the sandwich home (because I never like eating there unless I'm with another person) and dug in. My initial reaction? It was good and definitely filled me up, but it wasn't the best pastrami I've had. Certainly not the worst I've had either. Still a really good sandwich considering the price. I probably will still end up going to Sandwich Story more, but when Sandwich Story isn't open (they have limited hours), I'm coming here. This gets "The Chef's" 1 1/2 thumbs up! read more

I've been coming here ever since I started working in Pasadena a few years ago. The sandwiches at Vince's deli are no non-sense, simple, tasty, filling and dirt cheap! My favorite sandwich here is the avocado, bacon, and turkey on wheat but any simple deli meat and cheese sandwich is under $5. Sprouts, mushrooms, bacon, liverwurst or avocado cost extra. The avocado is kind of funky as it's more of a spread vs actual chunks of avocado. Still good nonetheless. They have pastrami, meatball, grilled chicken and corned beef for their hot sandwich options. If you're ordering a hot sandwich, be prepared to wait for it because they are super slow when it comes to those. All the women working here are friendly and cheerful. I've actually never seen a male employee here (ironic because it's named "Vince's"). All in all, this place is great for a quick, tasty and inexpensive lunch. They have a great variety of deli meats and hot sandwich options. Pass on the salads though. Tip: Get the regular instead of the large. With a name like Vince's Deli, and me filled with a whole raft of pre-conceptions from my time on the east coast, I really expected my sandwich at Vince's to be made by a muscular Italian guy. As it was, it was made two petite Asian women. On the other hand, the Italian Cold Cut sub that Wendy T and split was exactly the sub I was expecting. We've only had 1 sub from this place so there isn't that much to say. Pros - good quality meat, and good balance between topping and meat, unlike Pasadena Sandwich Company, which tends to overwhelm me with the amount and thickness. The large size sandwich was fine for the two of us; it is a healthy size sandwich. For us, the make or break part of a sandwich is the bread, and Vince's bread passes the muster, though it's certainly not the best sandwich bread I've ever had. Also they have o good selection of chips, beyond the typical Doritos Cons - a pet peeve of mine is what I call the "de facto mayo". I'm not a huge fan of mayo and there was a bit much for me (both sides of the bread). The peppercinis were somehow not very flavorful and the sandwich was a little light on pickles (personal preference). Overall I was very satisfied with my Vince's experience and since I will find myself at Huntington Memorial a fair bit in the next couple months, I'll definitely be trying some other sandwiches. read more
