I've taken my car to Vince's twice now. Both times the service has been excellent - had the car inspected, oil changed. They are friendly, honest, knowledgeable and professional. read more

I had some misfiring in my engine and I took it in to check it out, suspecting it was a bad ignition coil. They charged me $80 to plug in their fancy machine just to verify my suspicions, which kinda sucked, and I think it could've been diagnosed without the fancy machine. When they gave me the estimate I asked if I could bring in my own parts in because their prices were steep, but they didn't allow it.. I think they were mad because I didn't want to get the work done and was trying to save money, but they ended up sabotaging my hood latch, disconnecting the release cable from the hood latch mechanism, making it impossible to pop the hood. I ended up having to remove the grill and the latch mechanism completely to solve it myself. I thank them for giving me the opportunity to learn more about cars, which I did, but I was thoroughly pissed they messed with my stuff and charged me out the butt. I don't recommend this place. read more

Qualified, professional service , honest and fair. Such friendly people . Would recommend to anyone in the area . read more

Took my car here for vehicle inspection. They were very thorough in explanation of what needed to be done. I got the impression that they were trustworthy and friendly. Going local beats going to the dealership every time! My only complaint is the fee for using a credit card, but that's pretty common in Pittsburgh so it wasn't too surprising. read more

These owners are such great blessings. They are honest and won't take your money. May the Lord bring many more blessings upon this family owned business. I pray that whatever their hands touch prosper in Jesus name!!!! read more

This place is THE BEST. I have taken my car there twice with tire issues, and they do such a good job. Vince isn't trying to nickel and dime you. He always calls after going through his diagnostic of The problem and thoroughly explains what he is going to do. I really appreciate him for that. Great guy and great service !! read more

Vince's was my go-to shop for the better part of 2 years. They're friendly, quick, and tend to charge on the lower end. But after having ongoing issues with my brakes accumulating to more than $1k worth of work, continuous visits, and the same issues popping up over and over again, I switched mechanics. This is also right around when I noticed that one of their branded vehicles (large Vince's Auto decal on the back window) also flew the confederate flag. This is Pennsylvania, not Mississippi. After the same issues continued with my car, I took it to a new shop. I again paid $1k to have them fix what Vince's was unable to successfully repair. What a hassle. read more

Took my car in to have my back brakes replaced, all went well, everyone was friendly. I got my car back and my emergency brake no longer worked correctly. It was making a horrific sound after engaged and a flashing non-operating light while driving. I called them and they said bring it back no problems. Probably just needed re-calibrated. I brought my car back in and still no fix. Vinny mentioned that he would take care of replacing my emergency brake, since he was the last one to work on it, he felt responsible which I thought was very kind of him. He knew I had small kids and was worried and wanted everything to be safe. Once again great to hear. He just needed some time to get the part. He would call me when he was ready. After 3 attempts made by me to get in contact and him still waiting on part and no call back, I am left with an "unsafe" vehicle and a non-operating emergency brake. Not happy. read more

Vince's is awesome. I don't review often, but I just want to add positive review #22/23 for him on Yelp, because he earned it. I thought I needed several things fixed on my car including transmission, a leaky tire, and two dead power outlets. From my first call until I picked up the car, Vince (maybe) was very thorough in his explanations, fair in his assessment, and fast with service, and unbeatable with price. He 100% exceeded my expectations in how he treated me and the car. read more

Went there for an auto inspection, only to have them quote me almost $700 for "needed repairs". I am no car expert, but considering one of their suggestions had been recently replaced, I called foul. Went elsewhere and was passed without issue the same day. They may be good mechanics, but they clearly drum up business with inspections. I don't appreciate being held hostage. read more

Came here for a inspection and was quoted at about $1000 for repairs on my 1999 Honda. Called around to make sure I wasn't being swindled and this place had the lowest rates around. The guys were honest and helpful - took care of all the extensive repairs in a few days flat. There was a discrepancy between a price verbally quoted to me by one of the repair serviceman and what I was actually charged. I communicated with the owner Vince who honored the price that was originally told to me without hesitation. Although I was annoyed that the mistake in pricing was made at all, I was happy that the establishment allowed for a quick appropriate remedy which was satisfactory. Vince runs an honest establishment. For as long as I am in Pittsburgh, I will be going to Vince for my repairs. read more

Marne hit the nail on the head! my family has been going to these guys for about 7 or 8 years now.quaility serivce, they fix what is actually broken instead of throwing parts at your car or truck, knowledgable and always a good price. a good way to support a local biz instead of a chain!!! read more

I can't speak enough praises about this place. I was traveling between Chicago and Providence and found my car's steering scarily unresponsive to my input. I stayed in Pittsburgh with a friend and spooked when I took it to a place that quoted me over $2000 and a wait time of 3 days (I would have had no place to stay!). I then went to Vince for a 2nd opinion. Vince made me feel right at home and not only was able to fix my car that same day, but he billed me for another service that solved the problem and only costed $800! If you're going somewhere else, you're missing out on supporting a local business that treats you like royalty and will be honest about your options. read more

Finding a good auto technician can be a serious challenge. As my Yelp history should show, I live all over the place -- I go to school in Boston and fly into Pittsburgh every week where I rent a car. This week, however, I had my own car with me because I am on spring break and so I decided to drive down. Cue this morning, 9am, I go to the car to drive my fiance to work and after scraping all of the ice and snow off my car, I find that my wipers aren't working. I couldn't get them to go, even after scraping some ice off of them. Convinced my wiper motor is broken, I immediately look up local auto shops. This is such a panicked feeling, because never having been to a shop in Pittsburgh, I didn't know who I could trust. I find Vince's through some great reviews on here and I call. Vince picks up and he is so nice and accommodating! I explained to him my situation and he said no problem and that they could look at my car right away if I came in and that I could wait for it. He was so, so understanding of the fact that i didn't have anywhere else to go and even without having a previous appointment took me in right away. Once at the shop, I took a seat in the office and they pulled my car around. Less than five minutes later the guy walks into the office and says I don't need a motor after all -- my wipers are working they were just frozen to the windshield! We all had a good laugh but I was seriously so grateful for their honesty! He did mention that my wipers were old (which I knew!) so I asked them if they wouldn't mind replacing them. Not only did they replace my wipers right there on the spot, but he also topped off some of my fluids because I told them I was driving to Philadelphia tomorrow. The prices were beyond fair and I couldn't believe they took me in right away. I don't always have my car with me in Pittsburgh, but when I do over breaks and over the summer, I am so relieved that I now know that I have someone I can take my car to. They are awesome! Thanks, Vince's Auto! read more

I got to say, this place has great attitude and service! I called several shops to ask about my tire replacement quote and Doug from Vince's Auto was the best! He was very patient and willing to give me a really detailed breakdown on the cost of labor and parts! He didn't try to push and make me buy a new tire or anything, and respected my wish to choose whatever tire I wanted along with the help of his expertise. The quality of the work is still pending, but just for their service and attitude, I think they deserve a good rating! read more

OMG!!!! Caleb at Vince's was amazing . Same day fix , got us back on our way ! Great prices, incredible service and a very kind and helpful person . Don't let this small shop appearance fool you. They provide BIG service without hurting your wallet read more

Vince's Auto Service - Automotive Repair in Pittsburg - Auto Repair Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I wanted my Taurus [with 88,000 miles on it] to be as roadworthy as possible in the event my son returned from California and needed it for a 400-mile round trip to join us on Vacation. Therefore, I took it to Vince's Automotive and said, "As much as humanly possible, find and fix anything that could cause my son problems on the road." The skilled personnel at Vince's Automotive did precisely that. They answered my concerns about a noise I was hearing in a cogent manner and caught a questionable tire and replaced a fuel filter. I have been a client of this fine establishment for years. There are three things that keep me coming back. First, any work they do is necessary. Second, any work they do is expertly done. Third, any work they do is fairly priced. These guys do work with tools and their hands get dirty, but they truly are professionals. They seek not to make a quick score, but to build a lasting relationship. They are highly learned in their field; they are superbly trained and extraordinarily skilled. Finally, they have never in decades let me down and have earned my enduring trust and authentic respect. read more

Caleb takes good care of me and offers me options that won't totally butcher me financially. Everyone there is pretty nice actually.

Don't be put off by the appearance of this place. They are nice, hard working, smart, honest and dependable. They're also very quick. I came here for some complicated electrical work which was done by patient and whip-smart Caleb and couldn't be more pleased. They've been open to giving advice. I'll be coming back! read more

It's fine. They haven't messed anything up. But it feels like every time I bring it in for an inspection they find almost exactly $1,000 worth of stuff that I "must" pay for for them to pass it. Took my car to Al's instead this year and it passed, nothing wrong with it. Wow, so July 2017 it needed $1,000 of work, one year later it somehow needed ANOTHER $1,000, but one year after that it's perfect? Maybe so, but I just get the suspicion I'm getting ripped off. read more

I second the five-star-only reviews...the staff here are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating, and the prices are very reasonable. They gave me a great deal on new tires, and I get all my oil changes done here. They're pretty speedy, so you can drop your car off for an oil change, walk down to Espresso a Mano for a cup of coffee & read a bit of your book, and they'll give you a call when it's ready! Plus, they're just interesting people to talk to. read more

These guys are AWESOME. I've taken my crappy old beat-up car to them multiple times in the past few years and always received excellent service, honest opinions, and very reasonable prices. They're also one of the only auto places I've gone to that doesn't talk to me like I'm a complete moron just because I'm female - everyone I've ever talked to there has been respectful, polite, and willing to explain things in however much/little detail I required. Don't let the somewhat run-down appearance of the place scare you away - Vinny's is the best! read more

theyve earned my trust. its always hard to find a good mechanic, especially when you move to a new city. I came here on a recommendation by a co worker; and they have earned all my returning business. Just had my front brakes and rotors replaced. Absolutely great service all around. Levi (real cool dude) not only called twice to make sure I understood what he was going to work on as he found issues, but he also showed me the parts he took out when I picked up my jeep to make sure I knew exactly why I spent the money I did. Fair price too. I'll definitely be a returning customer. read more

I just recently dropped my car off to get my breaks fix and my check engine light diagnosed. I honestly don't know how this place is rated so highly. The first time I went to Vince's, they told me I'd have to have my alternator replaced for $150. I took it for a second opinion and was told it was only the belt that needed replacing for $60. It's been running fine since I got that done. Recently, my check engine light came on, and since all other places were booked, I reluctantly called Vince's. They said it would cost $70 just to figure out the problem-- no work, no repairs, just checking it out. The man I spoke to on the phone reassured me this was "standard." Turns out tons of places will check it for free. I feel that they took advantage of the fact that I'm a young woman and don't know much about cars. It's a shame that this stereotypical discrimination really does still exist. read more

They are horrible do not and I mean do not take your car there..they took 1200 dollars from me in a two week period saying I needed all these repairs to find out thru another mancanic they never fixed my car they broke clamped and cut things on my car purposely to keep paying them...after leaving their shop myself and daughter and granddaughter could have been in a serious accident because they snapped my break line on purpose to give them more money..I'm in the process of taking them to court..they are not trustworthy and horrible customer service beware if you go watch them carefully because if you leave your car they will take your money and break or snap things on your car for you to keep coming back and dishing out more money for repairs you didn't even need in the first place...do not recommend i would not take my car to them if I were you...you will be sorry read more

Called to see if I could get in without an appointment, I was looking for tires, no problem. I dropped my car off, luckily my partner lives right down the street, got a call with a quote about 30 mins later, cheaper than I had been quoted elsewhere. Unfortunately they do not use customer parts for repairs, but no problem, I understand liabilities. I will definitely come back here for auto service. read more

Extremely nice and personable staff. Very fair prices and fast service. I would absolutely recommend Vince's to anybody for car repair and inspections. Vince and the guys go out of their way to make sure that the customer is satisfied with their service.

I highly recommend this team. Caleb went out of his way to solve my car's bizarre problems, which had stumped three other mechanics. These guys were professional and really went above and beyond to get my car's problems solved. Thanks guys! read more

Vince and his son are honest folks who will treat you right. I lived in Pittsburgh for 5 years and used Vince for every little check and service I ever needed. On the week of my sister's wedding, my breaks started to go. I took my car in on a Monday, needing it done by Friday morning for me to make rehearsal in Michigan. Vince had it all done for me by Thursday afternoon and I couldn't have been more thankful. These folks are awesome. read more

Caleb at Vince's was incredibly helpful and efficient to get an alternator replacement done in 4 hours a few days before Christmas. I first found Vince's on an emergency situation. Note to all readers don't let your inspection and emissions lapse near a cop. I called as soon as they opened and they had me in that very day. They were also more than accommodating in the fact that my paperwork wasn't all in order but since I was able to prove that insurance and registration were current they were able to finagle some magic within the system to get me cleared and through. The check itself was done quickly and thoroughly to boot. When I was told I needed an new part to pass the inspection (exterior mirror, damn hooligans with bats) they told me they would pass me if I paid parts and labor that day as the new mirror needed to be ordered. I completely understand this. If you are going to put your reputation and possibly your state license on the line you need a guarantee I am coming back. What really shocked me was the bill. Emissions, inspection, parts and labor all came to... a hair over $200. I almost felt like I was robbing THEM! When the part was in they called me to inform me promptly and when I was finally able to get my car in the fix was done before I could get back from the quick stop a block away for my daily caffeine fix. Customer service is top of the mark here. These guys do it right. The only thing that might put a visitor off is the fact that since these are hard working guys who work in a primarily open air/open door garage they do smoke. I don't mind because that is one of my own personal vices (sorry mom) but a non smoker might be put off. I say forget the second hand stuff and go anyway cause these guys are tops at providing great work and some of the best customer service I have ever had at a mechanics place. 5 stars all the way. read more

Peace of mind is worth a lot, y'know? I get really edgy whenever the car is doing something it shouldn't because I never know how deep the problem goes. The radiator on my ol' 97 saturn wagon was leaking, and I was pretty sure the car was going to overheat and burst into flames at the next long red light. I envisioned taking it to a mechanic, close my eyes and hand over my wallet. But then a friend recommended Vince by saying "I pretty much let him do whatever he wants to my car." I thought, what kind of mechanic inspires that kind of trust? Then I met Vince. He and his crew know exactly what they're doing and they know exactly what you need. I didn't have to have an tough conversation about keeping costs down; Vince told me he'd do only what had to be done to get my car running right and back on the road. But when I came back to pick it up, Vince had been thorough and kind enough to tighten some loose spark plugs which was totally unrelated to the radiator. The price was more than fair and I was happy to pay it. I could tell that Vince is a guy who just wants people to have cars that work right and he knows that when you treat people fairly they will come back to you. It's what I plan to do! read more

NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE. THEY WILL TRY AND RIP YOU OFF. Came here once and they told me all these things I need to get done, went to my parents garage who they know personally and they told me I don't need any of that and to never go back there. Gave them one more try just due to the fact their close to where I live and I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Needed an inspection sticker replaced on my mirror so called in and asked for a price estimate. The guy said $12 and to bring it in on Friday. Called Friday to double check and just confirm price and the owner, Vinny said $15. When I called and telling them I was on the way I asked to pay upfront because I was in a rush and could take care of that. Some other guy said it was $19 and change and that was the final price. Told them I had called earlier and how he should honor that price. Not only did he not honor that price, he gave me a hard time and told me I was lying. He also tried to explain to me a long B.S. story and how much Esh sticker cost and why 19 dollars is actually a good deal and the cheapest deal we can get. I went down to Goodyear the next day in the morning and they charged me $9, and called me an hour after I dropped it off and said I can pick it whenever.
