My check engine light came on and they ran a test (for free!!!) to find out it was because the had cap was loose. They reset the engine light and I was on my way. I also need a new muffler and both brothers did a thorough check to see what is needed. They checked my tires, exception from emissions (I drive under 5,000 miles a year), and so much more. Scheduled my muffler appointment for a couple of weeks from now because they're so busy. There's a reason for that!!! As the other reviewer said, they are very knowledgeable here and were fair and honest. The best part though was it felt like they went above and beyond in doing the actual work! Basically if you go to like Jiffy Lube etc they'll do a basic oil change for a cheap price, but at Apex for a reasonable (slightly higher but I'm telling you it's reasonable/worth it) they actually check all your fluids and tighten everything that needs tightened, my car feels 100 times better than before they worked on it. I'll be coming back to them next month for an inspection and pretty much anything I'll need done from now on. Good guys who really know what they're doing. And quick, too! Highly recommended if you're anywhere near the area.

The major negative was that the final price came out nearly twice the original quote: close to $600 instead of the original $320. This was, I was told, because an additional part had to be sourced and installed. While I was already disappointed in this unexpected cost doubling, the icing on the cake was that I wasn't asked if I wanted to proceed with the repair. I was just informed that the cost had jumped, that the repair was complete, and that I now needed to pay up. This suggested to me that the original assessment of the damage had not been as thorough as it could have been. While a quote is an estimate, not a certainty, it's not good practice for businesses that run on quotes to let customers pay twice what they were originally expecting. In this situation, for instance, I would have appreciated a discount on the unexpected new part. That might have eaten into their profit margin, but it would have guaranteed that I would become a return customer, whereas now, I am not so sure.
