He initially had an attitude and only got around 2 minutes into talking where I was asking about pricing of things and what the cheapest route would be. I said "I can weld them on but it's not pretty so I was wondering how much the labor cost would be for you guys to do it." He said for me to "do it myself then" and put my car down. I even apologized saying "I didn't mean it to be offensive or a waste of your time," but he walked away and didn't speak to me. I wasn't going to blindly pay for work without any cost estimates, so i didn't know asking would trigger a fit. Would give 0 stars if i could.

I had a mixed experience at Bastone's, where I went (on an old family friend's recommendation) to…read moreget a wheel arch repaired. The positives were that they were able to get me in very quick and were, overall, friendly and professional. I do think they know what they are doing. The major negative was that the final price came out nearly twice the original quote: close to $600 instead of the original $320. This was, I was told, because an additional part had to be sourced and installed. While I was already disappointed in this unexpected cost doubling, the icing on the cake was that I wasn't asked if I wanted to proceed with the repair. I was just informed that the cost had jumped, that the repair was complete, and that I now needed to pay up. This suggested to me that the original assessment of the damage had not been as thorough as it could have been. While a quote is an estimate, not a certainty, it's not good practice for businesses that run on quotes to let customers pay twice what they were originally expecting. In this situation, for instance, I would have appreciated a discount on the unexpected new part. That might have eaten into their profit margin, but it would have guaranteed that I would become a return customer, whereas now, I am not so sure.

So I felt much better heading back on the road. They didn't charge me anything for the check/ drive. Greatly appreciate it. Seems like a honest business that have been around for years. I have had very bad car service experiences before, and when I told Justin about that, he went the extra mile to ensure that he always provided the utmost detail, explanations of services rendered when I had questions, and timely updates.
