I walk by Vincent all the time but for some reason I had never ate dinner there...after last nights experience I now know why! I made a 9:15pm reservation to celebrate a birthday with a small group of friends. We arrived a little before 9pm, we were greeted and the host said "We are getting your table set up if you'd like to have a drink at the bar while you wait we will come and get you." It was crowded around the bar but a couple dining at the bar told us they were about to leave so we had room to stand around the bar and have a drink. About 20 minutes later (9:20pm) a second staff member came up and asked if we wanted a table outside because that would be a longer wait. We were all hungry and said we'd take the first available table. They cleared a space at a table in the bar for us to sit and have our drinks (still no food). It was 10pm before we were sat at our table. We were given a table outside and the server said our wait was long because we wanted to wait for a table outside. None of us ever said that, we wanted the first available table which apparently was 45 minutes after our reservation. The waiter was nice enough and came over to take our orders quickly. When the food came out they brought five of the six entrees. I still didn't have my food. I waited a bit longer and just told my friends to begin eating there was no use in their food getting cold. I excused myself to use the restroom. There were 5 people in line for the restroom and apparently only one of the two restrooms were in use. (I'm not sure if one was out of order as there was no sign. The door was just locked) After 15 minutes waiting in line to use the restroom I returned to my table....Still no food for me. The waiter had forgotten to put my order in with the others. I told them to forget it at this point I was tired of waiting I didn't want to eat after all my friends had already started and frankly I was just annoyed by the whole situation at this point. Two of my friends had the burger which they said was good. The amish chicken was dry, the octopus didn't taste fresh (my friend only ate half) and of course I didn't even get to taste the pork shoulder I ordered. When the waiter came over we told him about our experience, instead of simply coming up with a solution or suggestion he asked "What can I do to change your dining experience? We want to make this up to you." This put us all on the spot. We shouldn't have to come up with the solution the manger/staff should have just offered a resolution. He brought us our ticket then offered free dessert or a round of drinks. (we declined) Then he said "I went a head and took that Pork Shoulder off the ticket for you." This was not a favor he did for us, I didn't get my entree so of course they would take it off the ticket. There was no other attempt to rectify our horrible experience. I have NEVER left a dinner without tipping at all until last night. You can get better and more inexpensive similar food elsewhere. It was simply a horrible experience with so many misunderstandings. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! read more

We live in the neighborhood, and have been to Vincent 10-15 times over the past 5 years or so. The experience is almost always exactly the same - good food, incredibly terrible and slow service. Every time there is an excuse by management ("our power went out earlier," "the kitchen is short staffed" "we are busier than usual"). We leave frustrated, but end up coming back eventually because we want to support the place. Tonight's visit was the final straw - not because it was one terrible experience, but because it was exactly like all of our visits. We had 8:00 reservations, but weren't seated until after 8:30 (no apology or explanation). We ordered our appetizers, and didn't receive them until a full 45 minutes later. We then sat until 10:00 waiting for our entrees (no apology, or explanation) and still no food at which point I finally had to track down our waitress to ask her where our food was (she hadn't acknowledged the problem in any way). The manager came over and 'apologized' saying "I'm sorry that you feel the food is taking a little longer than it should..." He then said our food would be out "in 4 minutes" and another full 20 minutes later it finally arrived. He then offered free dessert, and we refused as we had no idea how much longer we would be sitting waiting for that and we were already frustrated with the whole evening - a spoiled birthday dinner. When the check arrived, there was not one single discount to the entire meal for the 5 of us. Never again, Vincent. The times above are all accurate, and not exaggerations. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Vincent, which is located at 1475 W. Balmoral Ave. in Andersonville, just off Clark Street. The restaurant has a chic and stylish setting, with an open front that allows for plenty of natural light. There is also outdoor seating available, which is a great option for dining al fresco on a warm day. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. He also gave us some great recommendations for food and drinks. The drinks were amazing. The vodka smash with yuzu was refreshing and flavorful, the glass of pinot was smooth and fruity, and the old fashioned was rich and boozy. I would come back to Vincent even for just the drinks. The food was also excellent. The chili shrimp was buttery and garlicky, with just a hint of spice. The trout was cooked perfectly, not dry at all, and it was served on a bed of creamy corn. The wagyu burger was cooked to perfection, and the truffle fries were not overpowering. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse. It was light and airy, and it was not cloyingly sweet. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Vincent. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a chic and stylish setting. read more

Vincent was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. The French onion soup was absolutely delicious, with rich, distinctive flavors that really stood out. For my entrée, I had the double cheeseburger, and it was outstanding. The patties were perfectly seasoned and grilled just right, topped with plenty of melted cheese on a soft, fresh bun. I upgraded to the truffle fries, and they were definitely worth it--crispy, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the burger. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with a diverse crowd enjoying the beautiful day. What really made the experience exceptional was the service. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, checking on us regularly to refill our water, see if we wanted another drink, and make sure we were enjoying our meals. He even let us know that if there was anything we didn't like, he'd gladly have it replaced, which showed how much they care about their guests. Overall, Vincent delivered great food, excellent service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended! read more

At present I'm only ranking Vincent three stars as I went opening week and the service was poor. I will return and give them another chance and if it improves re-rank them. Anyway, the food was excellent and the portions were just right! The service problems I experienced were: 1) Inconsistency of drink size. I ordered three drinks all the same, the first came in a tall glass the second and third in rocks glasses. I was billed the same for all three. 2) I ordered the trio which consisted of three courses. I never received the third course. 3) Long waits for drinks, servers and food. The owner came to our table and apologized for the service (we had not complained). This showed me the owner was watching and cared. He brought us two complimentary desserts and three snifters of liqueur to make up for the service (and it did). If they can work out the kinks this place will become my new favorite restaurant! read more

Moved to the neighborhood about a year ago and the food and cocktails at this place always hit. I had the squash risotto last night and it might be the best risotto I've ever had. The steak and burger are my usual choices but I'm glad I tried something new. My friend had the halibut and it couldn't have been cooked more perfectly. Their happy hour cocktail specials are the best in the neighborhood (that I've found). The bar is always busy and it's a great place to meet other people from the neighborhood too. Bartenders and servers are super friendly and the lighting and candles everywhere really give it a great vibe. Overall a rarity these days to have a such a cool neighborhood bistro that hasn't been bought out and ruined by some big company. Check it out! read more

I love this place! It's cute and in a little corner away from the hustle and bustle of clark street, but very much in the scene. It's a great spot. The mussels are to die for! My friend and I both got different ones to split. It's the best way to go. The fries they serve with it are so yummy. They serve it with some delicious dipping sauce. Not sure what it was but it was tasty! It is also BYOB which is just plain awesome. Most nice places don't do that. This place is both very nice, and BYOB. It is casual or fancy. Either would be fine here. And the environment is intimate yet fun. It's great for a date, or a big group of friends. I can't wait to come back! read more

I never really write reviews because I always think it's just better to try it for yourself, but I had the best time with my friends here a few weeks ago! Our server Danielle was super helpful and friendly. The Scenic Root cocktail was like nothing I've ever had before. It's a cocktail made with scotch and beet juice. Also, can't beat a prosecco deal at happy hour! We only had some small bites but the steak tartare and escargots were great and the ambiance is super unique. It's a vintage building with all the charm. Definitely will be coming back again! read more

I've loved this place for 2 years now. Its a tiny, adorable place that is very reminiscent of a European bistro. The food is currently the best it has ever been and the owner is there almost every night and is 110% invested in the guests' experiences. I know a 5 star review merits some sort of perfection but this place isn't perfect....the place is lightly staffed and service can be slow but always friendly and you can tell they're moving. Get the tarragon gnocchi, get the housemade sausage, and absolutely get the pork loin. Best of luck! read more

Vincent I want to love you! The atmosphere is cool. The food is good. But OH MY GOD....how slow can you be. It can take 15 minutes for drinks to come out and the food is even slower. Good lord, please add an extra server and a food runner. I think this would go a long way to solving a lot of the slowness. I don't always want to spend 2 hours eating. I bet if you got an extra server and food runner you would turn tables faster and make more $$$$. Sincerely, T read more

Very good food overall! Steak was awesome, so was beet salad! Cocktail menu slim but intriguing, makes me wonder if I could order a bad one. Unique beer selection, and someone even bought us a Creme Brulee.. I don't like creme brulee but this one was outstanding! Just wish they could shut off that silly fan, it was freezing cold and you had to wear a jacket! read more

Great neighborhood bistro. A warm dining room and good service added to a wonderful meal with my best friend the other night. JonCarl the chef/owner came out to check on each table, which was sweet, and overall we had a very special evening. Thanks Vincent! read more

Went back for happy hour this weekend and had an wonderful experience. The bartender Kenny was super attentive and you can't beat a giant $20 charcuterie board and $10 cold brew martini. Will definitely be putting this into my regular rotation. read more

Love it. Sat at the bar, mussels, french fries, and drinks. Great atmosphere, fantastic bartender. One of the more competent bartenders I have experienced in a long time. Attentive, but not overbearing. The mussels were gigantic and delicious. read more

Pleasant and cozy atmosphere in a nice neighborhood. Disappointing that such a nice introduction can be undone by over-salted cuisine on two separate occasions. Given that we are not aiming for hypertension, we are not inclined to return. read more
