Very unprofessional administrative staff and protocols. My appointment was canceled because I didn't answer the phone to confirm my appointment despite confirming through text messaging system. As someone who works long hours in healthcare speaking on the phone is not always feasible. Take into consideration that I have never no showed an appointment before. It's very frustrating when you rearrange your schedule to make an appointment just for you to show up and have it be cancelled. The deterioration of competency in administrative staff is apparent over the past few years. Would really like to see a revamp in the office administration. My son and I have been going to Vincent Chen for nearly 20 years. They are very organized and I never have to wait when I arrive. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The cleanings are excellent and they have gradually coached me into taking great care of my teeth. I have never had any issues with any of Dr. Chen's work over that period. I have had many fillings replaced and had two old crowns (front two teeth) replaced. I never have any pain during or after any of my completed work. They have been very accurate with my expected insurance coverage and my expected costs. They also help me get the most out of my annual insurance coverage. I came back into the office for my normal cleaning (yesterday) and all I can say is WOW! The front office staff were kind, smiling and all the way around very pleasant. Such a big change from my previous posts and experience. I watched them say hi and bye to each and every one who entered their office, which is how someone feels cared for and valued. Came in for my 4th or 5th appointment at this office. It took them 4-5 appointments to figure out that my insurance has a waiting period. Now I have a crown that was put in by Dr. Chen that is bothering me. I was told if I need it to be looked at "an examination should be free." I would've never gotten this crown put on if I had known that I wouldn't get adequate care. I was turned away today from my appointment in the office, couldn't even figure it out before I got there. It was embarrassing. Spoke with Dr. Chen about my frustrations and was told to speak to my insurance about the fact that the tooth his office placed a crown on is bothering me. Excuse me????? Always a pleasant visit at Dr. Chen's office. Yesterday, my husband and I had our cleaning done with Maria. We love her gentle technique and she is very thorough. After flossing, she went back in and and picked off a little more (sorry for layman's terms). Yeah we got the "Maria Specialty"! We understand each other and have great conversations especially about flossing lol (actually about Hawaii vacations.) I went to Dr. Chen for many years and was happy with the cleanings, but then I had a very negative experience. He was working on my teeth with a young female intern and he was giving her "life advice" -- sexist life advice. He went on and on about how men never want to get married, that women are a ball-and-chain who only want to spend lots of money on their weddings, how awful it is to be chained to one person forever and can't have any freedom, and that the only reason to get married is to have children. This was after he insulted his wife's cooking in a very rude way after I asked, "How was your Thanksgiving?" I was shocked to be hearing a male professional spout sexist and rude advice to a young woman (who supposed to be learning about DENTISTRY not seeking marriage advice) while working on another woman's teeth. After he left, I told the young woman that not all men think that and lots of men enjoy being married. She seemed relieved to hear that after his lengthly monologue. What a horrible influence Dr. Chen was on this woman and what an unprofessional and sexist diatribe I was subjected to. Because of this, I will never go back to Dr. Chen and sought out a female dentist who was completely professional throughout my first cleaning. read more

My daughter went for a cleaning. She is pretty sketchy around doctors and dentists. Many times it has been difficult to get her to cooperate and even open her mouth. The dental hygienist who worked on her teeth was so amazing and patient, numbing my daughters gums, giving her a mirror to watch all of the action and explaining every step to my baby from beginning to end. She did not have to go through such lengths, but I am so grateful to her for treating my child with so much respect and consideration. It truly eased my daughter's fears of the dentist. I have been in this office long time several years Only cleaning or deep cleaning jobs which I hav not cared much and agreed to let dental assistance doing the job Only Jul 2022 The firs time I have crown on my teeth 18th The first appointment: next day my temporary crown fell off The second appointment: next day my temporary crown fell off again He just gave me numb and most of work to let dentist assistant handle it I request to speak with dentist Vince Chen I mentioned that if he was aware of my crown fall off twice. He said yes I request the dentist to have a final review or final check on patient before letting patient leave the office for a crown job next time The procedure was very painful and not comfortable for two weeks The third appt he let his assistant doing all work. ( the hygienist gives me numb and dental assistant doing all work ) No final review of final check from the sentis When I left office I thought he was busy but actually he was surfing on the phone I was really mad My delta insurance is very good. We pay for dentist and not pay for dental assistance doing crown If the crown job which this office can't perform well then can't do further dental problems My crown is broken on 2/2023 after 6 months I not come back this office for new dental issue any more You will be regret to come this office read more

The entire staff is so sweet and comfortable to be around! Each one of them is always genuine and ready to answer any questions you may have at the time. They jump through hoops to make sure you understand the procedure and answer any billing questions you may have. They even walked me through the Delta Dental website so I can see what the submitted and accepted charges are. They have nothing to hide and are very trustworthy. I am such a problem patient, but Dr. Chen and staff, Yolanda, Vanessa, Maria, Flora, to mention some, have always been empathetic. I am constantly getting canker sores because of my braces and thus have to reschedule my ortho appointments every so often. I've been easily able to do so with no hassle. They're very accommodating, and I think that's rare to find in any business. I don't really like coming to the office because of the pain I know I'm going to get. I'm quite sensitive, so with just the slightest adjustment, my entire mouth would be sore for a week or, sometimes more. However, I do look forward to my visits because I genuinely enjoy the conversations I have with the entire staff. The convos are not all random though. They also patiently explain in detail the process and procedures clearly, so at the end of the visit, I leave with a better understanding of what's going on with my teeth. They're such friendly professional people, and I feel confident with the treatment I'm getting. Which is why I recommend them whenever I'm asked about my braces. Speaking of which--- cannot wait for my braces to come off, but I'll miss my monthly appointments dearly when that happens! read more
