Okay.. Soo I started going to this office a year ago. And yo.. Hands down, this is the Best Dental Office in the Bay Area. The staff are amazing ~ from the front desk to the back clinical staff!!! Every time when I either call in or come in for treatment they have been a solid A1 Team! Very clean, professional & always a good vibe! A lil back story.. I had braces when I was 13 yrs old from another dental office.. and over time my bite got worse throughout the years.. I then re-started my Ortho journey in this office with Flore since June 2020 to fix my cross back.. oh my!! She has been so amazing and so knowledgeable. I have visited Dr Chen's office about 3x now since the Covid and they have done a great job ensuring everyone stay safe. Every staff wear mask and they ensure cleaning is perform before and after each patient. The front office service is great and the dental hygienist are very skilled and provide useful suggestions to maintain good dental hygiene. One of the suggestions is to use a waterpik cleaner along with flossing. I finally started using it daily and this baby works! Of course I struggled at first using it without flooding my sink, but once I got it under control it was easy. Its been 4 straight days now using Waterpik and going to keep going. Thank you Maria for the suggestion. I'll be honest, going to a dentist is never anyone's favorite. But I feel clean and refresh after each visit. Everyone at this office is really friendly and is willing to work with you to make the process of going to the dentist as easy as possible. They helped me work with my insurance company for over half a year to try to get them to cover more of my procedure for crowns. In this time of everyone having to tighten their wallets they are very willing to work with you and the insurance company to try to get as much covered as they can. I had my first visit with Dr. Chen yesterday and everyone from the front desk to the dental assistant, dental hygienist and Dr. Chen were lovely to work with. The office was nice and clean and the staff was personable, professional and friendly. I went for a cleaning and x-rays. Then they were able to squeeze me in for a teeth scanning for Invisalign. From someone who has had the best dentist/dental hygienist for the past 12 plus years moving away and looking for someone closer was a little stressful but I'm well pleased with my first visit and only can hope it continues from here on out. While having lunch with a friend yesterday I mentioned that my tooth felt odd, like a very sharp knife. She said, "Go to your dentist today-or you'll have terrible pain and need a root canal!" So I went to Dr. Chin's office and asked for an appt. Flora had me come in right away, Dr Chin took pictures, and I had a huge hole in my tooth!So they fixed it yesterday with a temporary crown! I never had the horrible Tom Hank"s tooth ache from Castaway! Flora and Dr Chin were so experienced that I didn't feel any terrible pain during the procedure. The whole experience was amazing. First of all, this review is way over due. We have been going to Dr. Chen's dental office for just a few years and we have always had a wonderful experience. His staff is very professional and it shows how much they care about their patients. Our most recent visit was for my 4 year old Adan's dental cleaning/procedure. I was more nervous then he was, but the dental hygienist Jessica and Dr. Chen made me feel comfortable and assured me that he would be just fine. The procedure went flawless and I was so impressed even though I already knew that they are great at what they do. Adan said he had fun and was so happy with the toy they gave him from the toy chest after he was all done. We absolutely love this dental office and have great respect for all the staff. I came to Vincent Chen after my dentist, Dr Ho, wanted an implant for tooth 30 and a crown for tooth 28. Vincent agreed with the crown but suggested a root canal which I agreed. First of all, nice office and I appreciate keeping me on the call back list for a Saturday spot. Note: This review does not reflect the entire staff. From the beginning to the end, my experience as a new patient was not at all what I had imagined and this was by far one of the most bizarre and uncomfortable doctor's visit I have ever been to in my entire life. My brother is a physician so I am even more empathetic and respectful towards doctors and their staff members. However, this particular visit felt like a scene right out of Twilight Zone (for those of you that are not too young to remember). When I walked in, there was a young lady sitting behind the reception counter very comfortably gazing into her computer. As I approached closer, I observed her sitting with her left elbow resting on top of the desk as her left hand was ever so complacently supporting the left side of her chin and face. As she glanced over at my presence, I introduced myself and still embellishing her "me time" with her hand still crazy glued to her face, she said, "I already checked you in." There was no: "Hi (smile), welcome. You must be...." And then, maybe a...."please have a seat, someone will be with you shortly" could have followed? But b4 I offered myself a seat, I asked her if I can get some water and here is exactly how she responded...."We don't have bottled water, but I can...." (I stopped her and interjected, "I didn't mean bottled water, just a cup of water will be fine." And she said, "I didn't say you said bottled water, I was just saying....." I actually don't even remember the rest of what was said, but I was wondering at this point of the conversation, what are we even talking about? We're talking about a cup of water, right? Why did she feel a need to correct me? You see, normally when someone asks for water, they don't usually get a response like, we don't have bottled water since I was not asking specifically for a "bottled" water if that makes sense. Why assume? All she had to say was, sure but will a cup of water be okay? And if it's tap, perhaps just say, is tap water okay? Here's the weird part, she disappeared for what felt like forever as if she spent some time chatting with a Dental Hygienist (DH) about the silly "bottled" water conversation which now leads me to the infamous DH who said SHE would be the one doing the cleaning for me today. Wait a minute, first I was told on the phone prior to the appointment that the DOCTOR would be seeing me. Why do I feel misled? Okay, no problem, but shouldn't someone even make the effort to be more transparent and mention something about why the Doc was replaced by the DH so that I'm not asking that question to myself? Alright, I thought let's not make a big deal, maybe the Doc trust's that his DH is more than capable of making as good of a first impression as he would have. NOT even close. In fact, it was a nightmare straight out of a Freddy Krueger's movie. Again, just like the "bottled" water lady....no smiles, no friendliness....just a blank look on her face. I was beginning to think that I was about to inconspicuously put to sleep and get one of my organs taking out for the blk market. Then out of the blue, the DH asked WHY I picked their office. So, I replied, you guys open on Satrdays and have good Yelp reviews to which she had absolutely NO reaction and stayed eerily silent. I mean, wouldn't a normal response to that sort of question be like......"I understand, many of our patients like the fact that we open Satrdys too. You're probly too buzy working on wkdays." Should I have mentioned that I come from a lineage of Cal grads as was Dr. Chen? Perhaps that may have sparked some interest. In the end, everything went south when she was taking Xrays. She kept coming back to take that dreadful hard plastic xray thing out of my mouth to reposition it for the next shot, but oddly enough she never says, "Open"... just starts pulling it out so I had to consciously anticipate her reaching towards my mouth so that I can open it before she yanks it out. Worst part that broke the camel's back was when the hard plastic edge dug into the bone as I was closing my mouth. Confusing thing about it was that she kept blaming me for moving my tongue when my tongue was ABSOLUTELY still. (This is not my first Xray rodeo). Perhaps a more empathetic approach would've been, "I'm sorry, let me reposition it." After 4 attempts and me insisting I'm not moving my tongue, she finally got it right. This is when I thought, I'd better just leave b4 it gets any worse, so I did. However, the last impression was the punch line...as I was about to open the door to exit I turned around and observed the DH and the girl with her hand stuck to her face LAUGHING. YES, LAUGHING BEHIND MY BACK. ENOUGH SAID. Wow, unbelievable. Never in my life did I ever walk out on any type of drs office. Have u? Prob not. And no, I didn't drink the water...scary. read more

Dr. Vincent Chen is very meticulously detailed on dental work. Today I had to have a silver filling removed for a crown implant so he was very gentle in administering the anesthesia shot. He did an excellent job in removing it. He asked me if I need more shot if I feel the drill. His assistant, Flora, kept giving me detailed steps on what she was doing. Love it! Mary and Gabriella are excellent administrators in making sure my dental insurance is covered for this treatment. They are very friendly, courteous and professional! Very unprofessional administrative staff and protocols. My appointment was canceled because I didn't answer the phone to confirm my appointment despite confirming through text messaging system. As someone who works long hours in healthcare speaking on the phone is not always feasible. Take into consideration that I have never no showed an appointment before. It's very frustrating when you rearrange your schedule to make an appointment just for you to show up and have it be cancelled. The deterioration of competency in administrative staff is apparent over the past few years. Would really like to see a revamp in the office administration. My son and I have been going to Vincent Chen for nearly 20 years. They are very organized and I never have to wait when I arrive. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The cleanings are excellent and they have gradually coached me into taking great care of my teeth. I have never had any issues with any of Dr. Chen's work over that period. I have had many fillings replaced and had two old crowns (front two teeth) replaced. I never have any pain during or after any of my completed work. They have been very accurate with my expected insurance coverage and my expected costs. They also help me get the most out of my annual insurance coverage.
