Before I got braces, I always worried about choosing the right orthodontist. From what my friends had said about the process of getting braces, their orthodontists could've cared less about the pain they were feeling and acted emotionless. When my parent and I found Pinole Valley Orthodontics, I didn't think I would enjoy the process more simply because the office seemed more upscale. On the first consultation, I entered the office, which I thought was appealing and slightly homey. Soon I met the orthodontist, Dr. Sanford, and rest of the staff, making me realize that almost all the people who worked there were of color. I was ecstatic, as it was rare to hear about a black orthodontist and POC staff. In addition, all of the staff were friendly and genuinely seemed to care about me or how I was doing. The atmosphere was lively and even though it was work, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. After the consultation, I couldn't wait to return for my first visit, and although I dreaded the thought of getting my braces applied, the feeling was less of a concern after I visited for the first time. The fact that I'm bilingual was the cherry on top since I could communicate with the staff in Spanish as well as English. When I returned to get my braces, the staff would always ask if I was okay and were careful throughout the application process. While I was in the chair, I felt safe in the hands of such outstanding staff, and I still do every time I return for a visit. Although my time at Pinole Valley Orthodontics will eventually come to an end, I am appreciative of all the generosity and respect they have shown my parent and I. Adult braces is not ideal...To top it off, I am also a jaw surgery candidate who just had double jaw surgery earlier this month. From my initial braces consultation, Dr. Sanford and her team were professional and knowledgeable. On the day of my initial consultation, Dr. Sanford diagnosed my condition, informed me of all my treatment options, and provided me with an affordable quote and interest-free payment plan. I left the consultation feeling empowered and informed. Throughout my treatment, I was regularly updated on my progress which was always explained in understandable language. All of my questions and concerns were addressed either by Dr. Sanford or her team. Dr. Sanford also maintained open communication with my surgeon, and adequately prepared my teeth for surgery despite abrupt changes in my surgical plan. I am now post-op and embarking on the final stages of my orthodontic journey (perfecting the alignment of my teeth to fit my new bite). I am extremely pleased with my smile so far and have no regrets. I'll begin with the front desk to the back office they are extremely helpful One of the most kindest ortho offices I been to (keep in mind this will be my 3 x getting braces) I am a new patient to Dr.Sanford I've met a few of her patients who are very close family friends which all have spoken really highly about her and after my experience with her and the office I can complete understand why! I really love how they always are so kind when I go in I really recommend to go there because I am always extremely excited to go to the orthodontist and before I was not. I used to be scared cuz the other orthodontist they were mean and disrespectful so I switched and to my surprise it was cheaper and they were really kind. In general they are just a great orthodontist and finally they try to hear you out if you are scared or any problem they ask you if there is anything they can do to make you comfortable and almost everyone who works there tries to memorize your name and tries to be friendly and to my surprise they did just that! read more

The people at the front are nice to me and the welcome Me with kind hearts and open hands. At first I thought it was gonna hurt and my teeth wouldn't feel good but they made sure my teeth felt good and I had the perfect braces for my teeth. I liked how the doctors asked me how my day was going and gave me different options for my braces color. At first I had a big gap in my Teeth and now it's not even noticeable. I love the staff here,they're all very welcoming and super helpful. Very affordable compared to other places who don't treat you half as well as Dr.sanford. Super professional and always makes sure that you're comfortable at all times.
