On Friday, we had an all-you-can-eat fish fry. The fish was crispy but without flavor. Our waitress was wonderful and funny. Here is my issue with Village Inn: The 18% service fee is ridiculous. This will be enough for me to stop using them. We tip very well, and to get an 18% fee added makes no sense. read more

We had a goodbye party at the village inn last year and it was fantastic! The waitress was very nice and friendly, everything went smoothly and not one person had a complaint at all! First you don't get what you order and when you bring it to their attention they say you are wrong. You show it to them on their menu exactly what you shouldnhave received and you get a comment of "OH you caught that it's not supposed to say that!" Then the toaster was broke they said so we couldn't get that even. What really made me mad knowing that the toaster was broken they still served a little old couple eggs Benedict! You could see the elderly lady knew the English muffin wasn't toasted as the toaster was busted. Could they not just run to Walmart right in their backyard and buy one to get them through? Then my plate had purple sticky stuff all around the edges. I was told it was jelly. But nobody of the 3 of us had anything to do with jelly! Toaster Broken! I didn't eat anything but still paid. I get the bill with 18% service charge on it. I inquire what that is and the young girl said with a big grin goes directly to waiter! Then the CC machine asked me for another tip! I inquired about this 18% to another worker stating all the problems we had and she said the only thing she suggested was call corporate. They set the rules. I don't call that rules I call that high way robbery. With all that I stated with the food problems and even scrappy service I still had to pay 18%! That really truly should be illegal! All this tipping stuff has gone to far! I lived in Vegas almost whole life and know you tip for everything. But only if they deserve it. I really hope people read this and boycott this place! After a Dr Appt in St a Pete, we stopped here for lunch and Pie. I ordered the skillet dish with veggies. Mother had French Toast with the fruit and sauce on the side ( more on that in a moment). Our server was on top of it throughout our visit. We had plenty of space at this hour and enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere. Mom finished her meal and got a slice of pie to go (as did my brother). I used the strawberries and sauce and whipped cream on the stack of pancakes that came with my meal. Nothing left on our plates and the pie will be enjoyed at home later. All in $58.42. I was immediately greeted and seated by the window. My server came over quickly and I ordered an iced caramel coffee and a breakfast skillet. My coffee was good but could have used a little more caramel. My skillet on the other hand was perfect. It had sausage, bacon, ham, bell peppers and mushrooms on top of potatoes. It was served with a side of pancakes. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the potatoes had a nice crunch on the outside. The pancakes were buttery and fluffy. For some reason, I rarely dine at a restaurant with multiple locations. A friend asked me to meet her and... Have been here two times (Thursday, then the following Monday) Both times were very good.The restaurant is large, airy and clean.The servers are friendly, efficient and professional. That makes for a good start of the day. Went at 9 in the morning both times. My friend always orders two medium poached eggs, hash browns and either an English muffin or sourdough toast and coffee. Her breakfast looked delicious and she says that it was. With the purchase of coffee you get your choice of a small juice. Nice touch. My idea of breakfast is a bit different. I tried the 1/2 ham & cheese sandwich on lightly toasted wheat and a salad with a side of blue cheese and ranch dressing. My sandwich was exactly what I wanted and the salad was fresh. Very good. The second visit I went with a 1/2 tuna salad sandwich with tomato on lightly toasted wheat bread. The salad was not as fresh as the first time but I expect they would get their fresh produce delivery that day (Monday). I liked both sandwiches equally. The menu is expansive and reasonably priced. The 55+ menu is offered to everyone. The hostess greets you immediately. All in all, a very nice experience. There is free parking and safe easy in and out. read more

Food was ok, service was ok. We had to move our seat to an inside booth from window due to trail of ants by window wall. My 2 young kids were scared. Getting a bill, we saw 18% automatic service fee, for a party of 3. I would understand if we had a big party, but this was uncalled for without prior notice. I don't think it's right for a chained Diner to do that. There was another table with a senior who was complaining about that as well while we were there. I don't think I will be returning as there are other diners and restaurants around that doesn't add that fee for a small party. read more

Every kind of pie is available from the standards of pumpkin, apple, cherry & peacan to the delicious, jaw dropping flavors ie chocolate & peanut butter... yum! This year they are doing it right- they have an outdoor pie pick up station under a tent. You place your order, you pick up & go! Its a well run pie assembly line of distribution. No worries if you did not place your order in advance, just drive up & tell them what pie you want, they swipe your credit card. Pop your trunk, they place the pie in back, off you go! My other favorite, their chicken noodle soup. Thick potato noodles, rich flavor chicken broth, right amount of spice with good size pieces of chicken & vegetables, its taste like they just made it from scratch They are across from the VA so always can find specials for the Veterans. read more

We ordered a lot of food and most was ok. We got strawberry crepes and also the waffles. We also ordered traditional egg breakfast between the 4 of us. The service was excellent. The server was friendly and on top of things. The problem was a hair was found in the avocado toast breakfast so it just kind of ruined our appetite. They did remove it from our bill and the server was really apologetic. The rest of us filled up and we ordered way too much. Eggs we cooked and while the hair thing was gross, I had eaten my portion before it was found and I highly recommend it sans the hair! read more

I'm trying to like this place but it's really so-so. Sort of feel like I got transplanted to some diner circa 1975. Be different if they're carpet was new and they really paid attention to detail. See photo, that may be a code violation, pretty sure it isn't sanitary to seat customers underneath an open ceiling. At a minimum don't seat people under that, better get the hole fixed outside of open hours. Anyhow I try to focus on positives and the food was really not bad, so kudos for the cooking staff and the waitress was nice. So I give it 3/5 or 3.49/5.0. YMMV. read more

You have a nice restaurant and a menu that offers a wide array of choices. You offer good prices and good food. Most of your servers are kind and courteous but you have one server you need to address... "Charlotte S" She reminds me of the service you get at Dick's Last Resort - she is unfriendly, food is nearly thrown at you. She complains about everything to other staff and the manager. She is clearly unhappy. Life is tough...for all of us...if she can't deal with it - send her packing - we will not sit in her section ever again. read more

This is one of my favorite places to grab a late night meal with my man! I have never been dissatisfied with the service or the food. The location is always clean and the employees are chipper and nice no matter the time we show up at! We come here so often the management recognizes us, is glad to see us and makes us feel welcome. We've both tried many things on the menu and haven't been disappointed with the meals. A few of our menu favorites are the eggs benedict, the strawberry banana supreme french toast, sirloin & eggs and of course the pies! Pictured below was a new menu item based around triples where you get three eggs, three bacon/sausage and 3 pancakes/french toast. It was so yummy and I finished every bite! read more

Ordered the Sausage Links & Eggs breakfast. It consists of 2 eggs any style, hash browns, four sausage links and pancakes. The pancakes were my favorite, they were delicious. Hashbrowns were crispy and very good, I ordered my eggs over medium, they were more like over easy. Sausage links were good. This is a big breakfast for the price, plenty to eat. We went with a large group, nine of us. Our server Jayden was incredible! He was very organized and stayed on top of all our needs. I was impressed how one server could handle nine people that easily while serving other tables. It was very busy that morning with a long waiting list, the restaurant was full. The first impression is that the staff really cares about the restaurant. Clean, uncluttered and the pies in the case looked delicious. when a restaurant takes your phone number it's for a purpose. 1. to identify you. 2. if there is a problem to call you back. we ordered three MEALS of coarse in the modern age, VILLAGE INN never updated the menu they have available at websites like allmenus..WHY? Our dinner results were the following, something we ordered was not available. no call. no acknowledgement of a problem when I got to the restaurant and had to wait 20 minutes. a random side of cole slaw for a sandwich that was not available. we also ordered three pie slices that if we ate in the resturant would be free, but you do not expect it to look like it was just shot out of Cannon! Ordered the country omelette with hollandaise instead of a white gravy they call susage gravy. This was such a dried up pretty much empty inside and not a drip of any sauce at all!! The hash browns was closer to raw than cooked and we're just sloped into the carton and thrown in a bag. They don't know how to cook eggs . They need a cook badly!! We are staying at the Holiday Inn just behind the Village Inn, and decided to run over for some breakfast to try something new in the area. First, the inside of the place is great and fun. I loved the décor, colors and old diner feel that it gives you. Second, the pies are fantastic! And finally, before we talk food, the service was great! Waitress was friendly, knew the menu, and was there to help. Both my wife and I ordered the VIB -- and were not disappointed. I got my eggs over easy, bacon, rye toast and hash browns and it was all everything you would expect... and the coffee was very good. My wife got scrambled eggs, pancakes, french toast, and country potatoes. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star visit was that my wife did not like the eggs.
