Food, service and ambiance are a 5/5. I've been here twice now and as soon as you walk in the food smells delicious and everything looks clean. The people who work there are very warm and friendly as well. The empanadas are my favorite. They are big in size and packed with meat. Highly recommend!

AJ's is a hole in the wall with amazing Puerto Rican/Cuban food. My husband got the short ribs with some sides while I got the Tripleta sandwich and our friend got the Cuban sandwich. I had some of my husband's short ribs, which were so flavorful and tender! The Tripleta was one of the best sandwiches I had and perfectly balanced. Our friend said the Cuban was super good as well. The reason AJ's is called AJ's is because it's headed up by a husband/wife duo and his first name starts with A while hers starts with J. We got to chat with the husband who was extremely friendly and gave awesome recs. It felt like chatting with friends at home. The only thing that was missing was some wine! Great time - we're coming back to try the empanadas next :)

An unexpected treat! I spent the weekend at Treasure Island and was searching for a breakfast spot. There were a dozen choices in either direction when I noticed that one place was Puerto Rican and locked in on that with my sights set on a cuban sandwich with cafe con leche. It was a quick drive to AJ's on Alt. 19 via the Tom Stuart Causeway. They were just opening at 8am. Husband and wife owners Antonio and Jabnia were there with chef Hector. Very friendly and pleasant people who moved to Florida about 7 years ago after hurricane Maria. The place was neat and clean with indoor and outdoor dining. They serve sandwiches, hot food and a host of traditional favorites. As many of you know, I am very finicky when it comes to my cuban sandwich, with the perfect balance of ingredients more desirable to me than bulkiness or creativity. They brought me a Tampa Cuban made the way I like it, satisfying my fastidious nature. High marks for that! The right bread, pickles, mustard, ham, pork and salami perfectly balanced, pressed and charred. I also got the wife an empanada and an alcapurria. While I may never see them again since I live very far away, I was delighted to find a "perfect" cuban sandwich and to reminisce about our life and times in Puerto Rico. Come get you some.

This was a 10/10 breakfast! My boyfriend and I are visiting from out of town and I noticed AJ's had great reviews. The service was top notch. Even the soda cans were delivered to our table with a cup of ice. When I realized they had coffee and went up to order one he said we should've ordered from the table so our food didn't get cold. If I lived here I'd be here all the time! Very cute and casual ambiance with tables outside for doggie parents.

Ribs and yucca amazing!

A New "Hidden Gem" in Seminole directly across the street from TJ Maxx/Sprouts on Seminole Blvd @ 72nd Ave offering Puerto-Rican Island Themed Cuisine! (Formerly Tony's Latin Cravings) A small very clean & quaint breakfast & lunch spot that is BIG on flavor and boasting with Friendliness! A few tables inside and a few outside, carry-out, delivery and even catering. Plenty of parking in the rear, front or side of the main building. They put all their love into the culinary offerings & espresso coffee drinks and it shows. We had stopped in for Brunch after reading some rave reviews on F/B (like their page) getting breakfast sandwiches, a ham, egg & cheese for her and a sausage, egg & cheese for me both with breakfast roasted potatoes. All I can say is if you love Cuban Bread, Cuban or Puerto Rican food - this should be on your "Short List" of new places to try in the Seminole/Beaches/PP area. It's come as you are casual and very affordable. The staff is super friendly and even offered us a sample while waiting for our orders and all was just so delicious. We ate outside "al-fresco" style on Seminole Blvd listening to Island themed reggae music playing softly in the background, making a great Saturday morning meal! Cannot wait to get back to try their Cuban Sandwich, or their specially crafted hamburger featuring Chorizo & Onion and many other island tings! A moderately priced casual dining experience with mouth tantalizing flavors fresh from the islands!

Such an amazing place in Sarasota. My partner is Dominican and we have been to the Caribbean…read morecountries a good bit. We were visiting Sarasota and stopped in to grab some late dinner to go. (Para Levar... my tiny bit of Spanish!). Luckily, my partner is fluent and it helps a lot whenever my Español es muy mal. We checked out the reviews and as a long time Yelper my experience told me that some of the bad reviews were not something we would worry about. It's really interesting considering the place is really authentic. Everything we had was delicious. The only tiny thing I would change is a little less garlic in the mojo on the boiled yuca but that's a personal preference and most people would probably love it! I'd ask for it on the side next time. They have a special lunch and dinner every day and I got the special for $9.99. Picadillo with 2 sides (I got boiled yuca and black beans). I added some maduros. My partner got pork chops with 3 sides. Salad, morro rice, and maduros. He also got a tamarind juice which is one of his favorites. While we waited they brought us both a cup of homemade chicken soup. It was delicious. The vibe is so Latin and that's a compliment. I could feel the love and felt so welcome. It was like hanging out at a family party with yummy food. They had karaoke with everyone singing Latin tunes. I barely understood a word but loved it and they had some really good vocalists! The food was delicious! We couldn't finish it all. I had lots of green olives in my picadillo! If we lived in this area we would be eating here every week or several times a week! I only passed on the Mofongo because I was worried I'd fill up fast and didn't want to waste so much food. If I were here a few more days, I'd be going back to try it. If I come back to Sarasota, I'm adding them to my must visit list! Thank you Latin Quarters' staff and the fun patrons for helping make my last night in Sarasota a lovely one!

The food was incredible - great reasonable prices, LARGE portions, perfectly seasoned and so authentic. The ambiance was great too - cozy and friendly. I've gone to more expensive restaurants and the food was not as tasty as this. We had the Sancocho, Pastelon, Bistec encebollado, the Canoa as appetizer. They bring you plantain chips and a cup of soup to start your meal. That soup was so amazing and unexpected. What can I say, the food was so good, the wait staff was so nice.... Will definitely be back!

The ample space is welcoming and decorated with an Andean - Latino ambience paired with soft piped- music . There is a restaurant section from which you can see the kitchen to the side. What a lovely brunch spot! Stepping into Sugar Baby Cafe was a unique experience for Seminole, FL…read more It honestly gave me that trendy coffee shop vibe you would expect to find in St. Pete, super aesthetic and very picture worthy! The vibe was very cozy, clean, and hip, mixing modern design with rattan accents and a dash of greenery. It felt clean, cute, and really thoughtfully put together! Service was great. The staff was friendly, patient, and actually took time to explain popular items without rushing me at all. Loved that!! Parking is a bit limited. It is a small lot with a simple pull-in and back-out setup right onto the road, so it can feel tight. That said, I went around 11am and it worked out just fine with no hassle. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon (plus $2 extra) and homemade lemon aioli on a toasted brioche bun and wow... the presentation was next level. I definitely took way too many photos before even touching it, no regrets! It tasted as good as it looks. Taste-wise, it was sweet, fresh, and super creamy with really nice texture. I also ordered the matcha latte, which was a bit disappointing. The ratio leaned heavily toward milk, making it very milky and lighter in matcha flavor than I expected. Wait time was quick, and pricing felt fair for the quality and experience. Overall, this is such a fun spot for brunch lovers, cute café dates, or anyone just wanting a sweet treat moment. I would 100% come back again!!
