Doe Doe's Diner is a classic U.S. diner. The people are friendly. The food is good. The service is fast. You can watch the short order chef working away making the orders and the servers are quick and competent. I always order a side dish of hash browns ($2.99) and a side dish of bacon (4 slices for $4.99). The hashbrowns were nicely browned and crisp. And the bacon was crisp and meaty. I also couldn't resist a side order of Italian sausage ($4.99), which I don't usually see on a diner menu. The sausage was great and added a nice finish to my meal. The walls are covered with cute sayings and plenty of award plaques, which shows the diner has been at the top of their form for many years. read more

I got it and there was Chicken Salad instead of my Tuna . We have since stopped looking for places to go because we believe we have found to perfect breakfast spot. This place offers an excellent country breakfast, everything cooked perfectly, and brought to your table by terrific servers (like Dee). As an early riser my 6am google search for an early breakfast near my motel in Treasure Island produced many 7am and 8am places but only 1 place was open at 6am. Having lived in NY for 5 years, I know that Diners can be an excellent option. So Doe Doe's Diner here I come. A quick 10 minute drive over the Tom Stuart Causeway brought me to this diner on Alt.19. A stand alone business serving breakfast and lunch with entrances on 2 sides and parking on 3 sides was a welcome sight. With half a dozen patrons by the time I arrived at 6:15am, I settled into a comfy booth. I was greeted right away by a cherrful lady and offered the beverage of my choice. Unsweet tea please. One great thing about diners other than the hours, you can order whatever is on the menu at anytime. I jumped at the chance for a breakfast cheeseburger w/ a side salad instead of fries. Diners give you options and they had it all. A simple and fresh salad with a greek type vinegrette hit the spot. A delicious made to order cheeseburger appeared as soon as my salad plate emptied. I put in a take-out order, a 3 cheese omelet w/ hash browns for the wife. They also have curb-side service. Quick, pleasant and attentive service was rewarded. Extra napkins without asking. This place was right near our campground and it was so good, we went twice for breakfast. Everything is fresh and home made. I had the blueberry pancakes and they were light, fluffy and chock full of blueberries. I can usually only eat one pancake but this was 2 and I almost finished them off. There was a decent crowed but plenty of available seating (later in the morning this place will be slammed). My daughter had pancakes and bacon. The pancakes were delicious and almost melted in your mouth. I had Eggs Benedict with hash-browns. So many places rush, and undercook the hash-browns. Not here. These were sooo crispy and sooo good!! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. We asked where they came up with the name; and it turns out the original owners' kids called their grandma: Doe Doe. My recent visit over Memorial Day Weekend proved to be a pleasant experience, the restaurant was close to capacity but still seem to operate efficiently. Fortunately we arrived and found a seat without a wait time as time passed other customers weren't so lucky even though the tables turned within a reasonable time, I guess it was due to the morning rush. I started with a mug of hot coffee with half and half, it was refreshing to see a real pasteurized natural product on the table verse the non-dairy options so many restaurants offer these days. Our sever had a few larger parties seated in her section so we got a few "I'll be right over" updates but it wasn't like we were being ignored. We ordered a waffle, blueberry pancakes and a side of sausage links - the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was still hot from the kitchen. The butter dish was filled with real butter and the syrup was good as well and my coffee cup never got below a half of cup so I had to flag the server that was doing the coffee refills off when I had my fill. Waffle - nothing exotic but was well executed. Pancakes - fluffy and filled with lots of quality blueberries I like the fact that the pancakes showed no off taste or char from the grill (I really hate when pancakes are cooked on the same surface as the sausage or bacon) no need to be concerned about that here. Nice breakfast/lunch restaurant on Bay Pines. The menu is on the placemats. Not a fancy menu but has a nice inexpensive selection. The weekly specials are posted on a placard at the table. My friend orders her usual hard poached eggs, dry English muffins and fresh tomato success. I have an egg and sausage sandwich on wheat. Both are prepared as ordered and the food comes out quickly and hot. We sit in a booth but there are tables and a small counter too. The kitchen is open to the dining room so you can see the kitchen staff making the food. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean with lots of natural light. Not the best service today. We have been here multiple times before and service has never been this bad. The place has less people than a normal Saturday yet it has taken over 24 minutes to get one coffee and one hot chocolate. I probably should have gone elsewhere today. Prompt service is crucial to great customer service. Worse - our food came out cold and we had to ask for it to be reheated. The server put our food in the microwave and brought it back instead of offering to have it remade. How I know - we are sitting right next to the toasters and microwave and watched it all happen. I hate rubber pancakes and my sandwich completely disintegrated. I had to eat it with a fork after it fell apart. Never again. Three tables have come in and eaten and left before we have. It is sad to see the other servers aren't even offering to assist the server who is struggling. Hopefully we have better luck next time. read more

Don't waste your time going to this place. I can't even refer to it as a restaurant or a place of business because when we tried to give the manager feedback she told us she's barely hanging a thread! Right off the food came out cold. The eggs are watered down and tasteless. My husband's omelette was thin as paper. When we asked to have the food heated up it came back microwaved and shriveled up. At the end, my husband still wanted to tip the waitress because it's the right thing to do and the manager yelled out in front of the customers, "Then you tip her that makes no sense."
