We stopped in here on a whim while exploring the shops nearby and were pleasantly surprised. The view alone makes it worth a visit, but the food sealed the deal. They had a fresh catch of grouper that day, so we decided to try the grouper nuggets. They're market price, but absolutely worth it. Even our friend preferred them over his fried fish. The batter was light, crispy, and delicious. Our kids ordered the bacon cheese fries and loved them. Just a heads-up: they use a nacho cheese sauce rather than shredded cheese, which some people may prefer to know ahead of time. Our friend from Massachusetts ordered the lobster sub (also market price) and said it was worth every penny. My husband and I split the grouper nuggets and the Philly cheesesteak. The bread is brought in from up north, and our server's recommendation did not disappoint. The sandwich was rich, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the onion rings. They use a beer batter, which wasn't our favorite, but that's more of a personal preference than a criticism. Overall, we'd definitely return if we're in the area again. The only downside was parking--$29.99 for two hours is pretty brutal. Thankfully, the food and atmosphere helped make up for it. read more

By far the best cut fries we've ever had. I like that they were sicker than usual. I will also say these were the absolute best onion rings I've ever had in my life. Nice thick pieces of onions and the batter was fantastic. Whatever the sauce was that was also amazing. Our waitress was also spectacular. The place is a hole in the wall. It's not anything super flashy but man they've got some great food. The only thing I will say that I was very disappointed and was the burger. Everything else on the table with handcrafted and delicious and full of flavor, but this was bland and i'm pretty sure it was just a frozen burger patty. I wouldn't be so hard on the review except for everything else we had was so fantastic. It seems like they're doing themselves a disservice by having an item on the menu that just is not spectacular. I would just say take the burger off the menu if you can't make it as good as the rest of the stuff. Otherwise, the food was fantastic. I would absolutely recommend stopping in here. read more

I did not eat here. I will never eat here. First, parking. $32 for 2 hours. What a joke. I drove around and found a free spot for disabled people. I have a tag, so I parked. (I usually don't use disabled parking, but there were several spaces available, so I did). Second, it was full of tourists. Man, I hate going to places that attract a lot of tourists. IYKYK. Third, I asked a server if it was "seat yourself". She rudely replied that she was a server, there were people waiting, and I had to wait outside until they called me. Well excuse the hell out of me for not knowing how y'all do things. I am a forgiving person. I can forgive a lot of things. But I absolutely will not forgive or tolerate rude behavior from anyone. My family and I absolutely loved this place. We went twice during our visit to Madeira Beach. The food is so good,l. The staff are super accommodating and so nice. On our second visit we didn't realize that we got there 15 minutes before closing, but the sat us and served us without making us feel rushed. This is a must stop at when we are in town. Their food has been consistent for the 10+ years that we've been coming down here. When we get into town, they're always our first stop for lunch. They have a pretty extensive menu of options, but our go to is the fried grouper sandwich with American cheese and no lettuce or tomato. Our other go to is the lobster roll. Now this go around we did notice the lobster was more shredded than it was chunks which is what we've seen previously so that was a bit of a change, but overall, it was still good. We've had the onion rings before but this go round we decided to share a side of french fries and we did ask for them crispy. They were perfect. Be prepared to wait though as this location is super small and if you come during a busy season or around that lunchtime period you're most likely going to have to wait. This is not a great location for large groups. If you have more than five people in your group this is probably not the best location for you as they cannot seat more than one large group at a time. But, one thing we did notice is that you can walk up and order to go. That's a great option to have and something we may take advantage of in the future. read more

What a hidden gem on John's Pass BOARDWALK ... the BOARDWALK GRILL ... on Maderia Beach. Our friends from PHILLY took us for authentic PHILLY CHEESESTEAKS ... and they were awesome. Using the AMOROSA ROLLS ... and making delicious FRESH CUT FRENCH FRIES & onion rings to die for. I also tried the FRESH GROUPER TACOS ... DELISH. The place is cozy - small with limited seating but I promise you'll be greeted by a smiling server who will gladly give you advice and take your order. Go early and go often. We went with 5 people, 3 of us got the lobster rolls (totally amazing!) 1got the fried shrimp (you get sooo many!) and 1 got fried clams. This was unexpectedly and by far our best meal while on a weekend staycation in Treasure Island area! You'd never think this tiny, unassuming spot in John's Pass would have such quality and delicious food. It's very east coast feeling- their most popular offering is the lobster roll, and for good reason. It's gigantic and SO good. But everything we tried was really good. The Boardwalk Grill is super small, so there was a wait when we got there and I'm assuming most days there are, but wow was it worth it. Even the fried clam bites I got were so fresh and yummy. Right on the Johns Pass Boardwalk- this little place is a yummy stop! It is tiny but has inside and outside seating with a real beach feel. The staff work together to make sure everyone is taken care of. We just wanted a little snack so my son and I split the Boardwalk Philly Fries- these were fresh cut potato fries with a huge mound of Philly meat, nacho cheese and grilled onions- WAY yummy and WAY more than enough! Still a fantastic lobster roll. Don't let the long line scare you off. Unfortunately, they don't have a texting system where you can put your name on the waitlist and they text you. Instead, they tell you how long the wait seems to be and you can wander off and then come back. They told us 20 minutes on a weekday around noon, so you can tell this place is popular. Instead of walking off though I saw everyone else leaving and decided to stay. This ended up being a good decision, because we were seated about 10 minutes later and people before us came back and were seated after. I got the lobster roll, like always, and coleslaw. It is absolutely delicious. There are huge chunks of lobster and the bun is small so it isn't overwhelming. My husband got the chicken parmesan. The sandwich was pretty good, I'm not a huge fan of the fries, they were basic fries to me. I'll stick with my lobster roll. Inside is pretty small so that's why there's a wait. There aren't many people working here so they do get slammed. We waited for a while to get our check, but this place is so worth it. We parked in the parking garage for John's Pass, because there wasn't any parking up and down the main street. This place is always amazing. I highly recommend it. read more

I'm not a big fan of most restaurants near the beach. The Boardwalk is better than most. We went on a Friday mid-afternoon and the server was really nice but overwhelmed. He was the only one serving all of the parties (approx 15 tables). The two parties next to us had complaints for the manager. Our food was good but it took a long time to get service. We enjoyed a lobster roll and tuna melt. We had mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. The food was pretty good quality but the poor service overwhelmed the food quality. We will go back to try their Philly Cheesesteak and hopefully get better service read more

We were not seated and left feeling dismissed and unwelcome. When we arrived, there was no one outside managing the waitlist, so we wrote our name down and waited while standing in the shade. When the host came out, she stated that she needed to "clear the area." While we understand the need to manage space, the request was directed at us and was delivered in an unpleasant, dismissive tone. She then said there would be about a 25-minute wait and that there were parties ahead of us, which we understood and accepted. However, we were later told that despite being on the list, we would not be seated because there was "no way to contact us" when our turn came and that we needed to remain in one specific spot. Given that no instructions or staff were present when we arrived, this explanation was confusing and felt inconsistent. The interaction gave the clear impression that we were not welcome to wait or dine there, so we chose to leave. From Long Island, so lobster rolls are a staple. Good: 1) correct bread. I will either do a heavily buttered Hawaiian bun or Texas toast roll. They went for the Texas toast roll. 2) There was plenty of lobster and it tasted great. Meh: Where it missed for me was the dryness, either butter or a mayo'y type of coating would have made this justtttt right. You can hack this by putting the Mac salad ($3 extra) on top/inside. Price: $30 is the market price we paid. Sides are extra. I would say this is about right but still always tough. Vibe: classic boardwalk/east coast feel. It smells like fish outside, they listen to the music THEY like. Which...mad respect. I grew up like this, so it's the chill vibe I identify with. Y'all are gonna wanna buckle up for this review. We walk up to the restaurant and I'm getting ready to tear up some tacos. The guy at the front tells us it'll be about twenty minutes, I'm cool with that because right across from us is no other than a beautiful inter-coastal waterway. I'm standing there with my mother and my sister watching the people in the jet skis drive in circles when my mom hands me the menu. I look at it trying to decide what I want, when I get a little sleepy. Next thing I know I'm on the ground and my mom is all concerned thinking I just fell. Maybe cause I did. After my couple second nap the guy who was hosting handed me a complementary glass of water, a wet towel, and a chair. (I can not guarantee this is something they serve to everyone) A waitress hands me a free glass of orange juice. We got three different options for a table to sit at to accommodate my sudden onset illness. Once seated, they continue to check on me. The food is placed in front of me. Much to my sadness I did not get a taco because I did not feel I would be able to eat it. I opted for a BLT as this seemed to be a meal I could conquer. I was in fact unable to conquer it at the time. However I took it home and it was the best BLT I've ever consumed, mind you, a few hours after it was made. My family, who was able to eat their food said it was "a treat and a treasure." Now I would never recommend someone to faint in front of a restaurant, however if you do, I implore you to select this one, if the boot fits. This was way better than the time I passed out at my brothers basic graduation, definitely my favorite fainting experience 10/10.
