a can of beer on a table
Elisabeth S.

Anyone who doesn't give this place 5 stars should be ignored. Not only are the servers and bartenders (all of them!) absolutely lovely and darling, but the food is soooo good! We got the Bavarian pretzel which is now our new favorite Bavarian pretzel in the United States. The beer cheese dip and honey mustard are delicious with it. My coworker order the whitefish dip, which I am not normally a fan of, but was outstanding. It was thicker than it normally is and I found out that may be because they melt cheese in it. We also ordered the fried pickles which I rate a 10 out of 10. The fried pickles came with a ranch dip which is not your typical ranch dip-- I believe it's jalapeño and honey infused, or something like that because it is a bit sweet and a bit spicy. The other item we ordered was the steak bites which were, again, absolutely delicious. This steak was not overcooked and it was in an Au jus that I kept dipping my bread into after the steak was gone. I ask the bartender if they had any local wine or liquor, but she led me to a few local beers and I ended up with a hard cider that was more dry than sweet but not too sweet. It's called Blake's Hard Cider. I'm not a beer drinker--I maybe drink beer twice a year. Yet, I liked this one. The view was wonderful, too! We looked over the lake and realized how fun it would be to vacation here in the summer. We were here on a work trip and I would have not thought to vacation in the area, but now we plan on coming back. The one thing I do not recommend is the ice tea. But that's it!

Whitefish

We were staying in St. Ignace and wanted to find a place to eat without crossing the bridge. Thanks to yelp we picked the village inn. I tend to eat as much Whitefish as is humanly possible anytime I am up north. The broiled Whitefish here is one of the very best. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned and very fresh. I appreciate being able to choose sides, I would much rather have a baked potato than fries. The Veggies were super good as well, fresh well cooked green beans and a large carrot. We also started with a pretty good and very large Pretzel. Overall its a local place that has a good bar and excellent food. This is definitely a place we came back to.

Broiled white fish dinner with veggies and baked potato

This is the place to go when visiting St.Ignace, MI! The ambience is casual and has a diner feeling as soon as you walk in. Huge menu to choose from! I had the broiled whitefish which comes with veggies (green beans and 2 whole carrots) and I chose a baked potato for the other side. My wife had the maple chicken with veggies and sweet potatoes. The whitefish is moist and flaky. Big portion of fish. I enjoyed my fish and baked potato. The carrots were good too. My wife loved the maple breaded chicken covered in cheese. The sweet potatoes were delicious with a sweet glaze. We both didn't like the green beans because they were not seasoned at all. Our service was pretty good. This place gets very busy!

I came here to eat while visiting Michigan's upper peninsula and I was delighted. I ordered their popular "plank whitefish" and I was more than pleased. A freshly cooked whitefish, surrounded by a decorative mashed potatoes along some veggies - ALL over a hot plank. It looked visually beautiful and it tasted amazing. The service was really prompt as well. Prices are very fair too. I also highly recommend their fresh Bavarian Pretzel as an appetizer. The only issue one might run into is that they run out of a few items of their food so you may be limited in certain things. But other than that, the restaurant is worth it.

Kid's broiled fish w/ veggies

My husband loved his perch, sweet potatoes, and veggies. He really liked their tartar sauce too. I enjoyed my broiled white fish, veggies, and rice. Our toddler didn't finish her broied white fish (so I did) but she ate some veggies and saltines. I appreciate that they don't put any butter or oil on the veggies! Thank you Village Inn for a tasty/healthy meal!

Good appetizers and service is quick...seating outdoors is nice in the summer. Located on the south side of the small town in Charlevoix

Please shut the door at 8:00 pm when it's only 60 degrees outside. We are all wearing jackets but we are cold.

The outside baked crust is crisp and tasty. My husband's beef pastie was filled with beef, similar to other posters pictures and he really enjoyed his. Everything was hot too I have a tough time eating beef so opted for the chicken option and while my sandwich was tasty, it was truly 95% potato, a tiny bit of carrots and just very, very little chicken. Maybe I got the bottom of the bowl or something, but it definitely needed more protein. He did have a veggie option available today as well. This place is super popular spot and the sandwiches are $8.50 each, we ordered a gravy, as per other Yelp recommendations and we shared that. It was an additional two dollars. He gives you a lot gravy!! Parking is very limited out front, but we found people were in and out pretty quick. There are a couple picnic tables where you can sit and eat but honestly, he really just doesn't have the room for that so get it to go. The owner seems super friendly, and I love the fact that so many people are supporting his business. Another UP box checked!

"Lets go down to the Sunset Grill We can watch the working…read moregirls go by" (Don Henley) We enjoyed a lovely late dinner at the Macinack Grille on Saturday night July 27. We didn't have reservations, so picked up a buzzer from the hostess and joined the crowd waiting in the gift shop or lounging around at the entrance. Our wait was about a half hour, and we were seated in a rear dining room that should receive a Gold Medal for Eclectic Design. Our table was covered in laminated Detroit Tiger baseball cards, and the walls were plastered with beer company paraphernalia and Detroit sports memorabilia. Our server Aimy brought our meal -a Cheeseburger Platter ($11.99), and for me a cup of Clam Chowder ($4.49) and Shrimp Steamers ($14.99). My meal was excellent, the chowder was served piping hot and was loaded with chopped clams and potatoes. And man, oh man, were the shrimps great. They were a half pound served shell-on "Caribbean style" with lemon and cocktail sauce. Yes, they were messy to eat but were so worth the mess. Aimy helped me out with a few wet naps. We had an excellent experience here.

Ordered walleye, baked potato, fresh vegetables, and a glass of Riesling. The waitress, while friendly enough, did not have a good grasp of the English language. And all for just under $50. This place is definitely not depending on repeat business. Compared to this, place, Long John Silvers is 5 star dining. Walked away hungry and $50 lighter. I won't be back.

Authentic Jamaican Flavor in St. Ignace!…read more We were so pleasantly surprised to find Jamaican food in St. Ignace with the addition of Kingston Kitchen at the Inn--and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Nick was our server and he was both attentive and genuinely friendly. Even though he was clearly busy, he still made us feel right at home. He offered some excellent cocktail recommendations--my wife especially enjoyed the Old Fashioned, which isn't even usually her go-to! We also tried the Ting with a Sting and the house punch--both were tropical, flavorful, and fun. Do yourself a favor and order the cocktail flight--such a great way to sample several unique drinks. For dinner, we had the jerk chicken and ribs, and both were seasoned perfectly. The rice and beans were especially delicious, and they serve this amazing "fruit ketchup" with the fries that totally surprised us--sweet, tangy, and addictive. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. If you sit in the window section, you even get a partial view of the water. Delicious food, great drinks, and a super friendly staff--thanks for a great night, Kingston Kitchen!
