Clyde's! Clyde's! I've been wanting to visit this place for at least 10 years. I'd read the reviews, looked at the customer photos of the burgers over and over, check out the menu photos... And drool. But for whatever reason, we'd always put it off when visiting our cottage in Moran, Michigan each June. Then today me, my wife, and our dog Jax dropped in. It was EXACTLY how I thought it would be. Old school drive-in vibe, friendly server, and delicious burgers in the comfort of the family SUV. Even the fries and onion rings were perfect. We ordered a plain burger patty for the dog, and our server even brought him a biscuit treat! Who does that? We'll be regulars every time we visit our Yooper friends in our favorite state from now on. There's a Taco Bell next door. Nobody cares lol. Go there now. Unless they're closed. We have tried to stop at Clyde's for years but something would always keep it from actually happening. This time we hit it at the right time. The drive up location had open spots so we took one and man we were happy. The waitress comes right to your window and takes your order, brings your food and takes your money. Cash only, but I was good with that. The waitress was very friendly, attentive and busy! She and one other were constantly going in and out taking orders, bringing food and working. The food....OMG! Go hungry if you decide to tackle their 1/2 to 3/4 lb burger. I thought I was hungry until that 1/2 lb burger came. So heavy, but soooo good. If you want a good old fashioned burger, this is it! No wonder they have a legacy and long wait time. Ours was 20 minutes this time. We had stopped another time and went in and found out it was over an hour. We passed then because of time constraints but nothing was holding us back this time. If you have passed this iconic place in the past and not stopped, you're missing out. They have other things on the menu besides burgers, so you should be able to accommodate most people in your group. So good! read more

It's typically a must stop, the service is always friendly and the burger is what keeps me coming back, and upgrading to deluxe and making it a basket is the only way to go in my humble opinion. And while I enjoy eating at in the "old school" drive-in bays, I typically will take my meal across the street and enjoy it while overlooking the mighty Mac! read more

Wow, can't say enough about Clyde's! Their Clyde burgers are huge and delicious; the regular burgers are equally delicious; and I had a cherry malt that tastes like 1960s good! I mean, that is really that good. Every time we come to the upper Peninsula of Michigan we make a stop at clients. Everyone else should try them too for the experience. Great Bison Burger! I would say price wise get a regular cheese burger with all the fixins and skip the overpriced "Big C". The wait was 45 minutes, so call your order in ahead off time. WARNING: Yes I know you saw the amazing reviews and thought this place was the place to be when it comes to food but boy you're in for a treat when it comes to the customer service. My family and I was kicked out before we could even get a word in. The servers are beyond disrespectful and the place hasn't even got a touch a paint since it's been open. On our drive through the Upper Peninsula we were told we should stop at the highway drive in as it would be an incredible experience. The drive in was extremely efficient with someone coming out to take the order, offering bagging of the food or tray service. The area was very clean and well kept. The most important thing was the meal and the food was absolutely delicious. The burger was amazing one that you would travel a distance for and not mind the drive. Also the gravy for the fries and gravy was the best we have ever had anywhere. Highly recommend Clyde's. read more

Clyde's is a Michigan tradition! I've been here a handful times during various times in the UP. I trip to the UP is never complete without a stop at Clyde's (In fact, Clyde's is located a few minutes from the Mackinac Bridge!) The wait *may* look long and intimidating but the trained servers and workers at Clyde's make the service look like a well oiled machine. It will ALWAYS be worth it! My favorite items on the menu is the classic burger and onion rings. You also can't go wrong with the fries and chicken tenders. Clyde's may also offer the BEST burger in Michigan. During the pandemic, we drove the 4 hours up 75 to visit on their opening day to show support for one of our favorite local businesses. I'll happily do it again! read more

After visiting Clyde's in Manistique two years ago, I've been dreaming about the burgers. Thick, juicy, delicious. It's been two years, but I finally made it back to the UP and this time went to Clyde's in St. Ignace. This particular location gives off all the classic Drive-In vibes - you park in one of the stalls, and a waitress comes out, takes your order, brings your food, and then busses your trash. They will continuously check on you so you always feel like you're taken care of. Fast, friendly, delicious food, what else could you want? 3/4 LB Big "C" w/ Cheese ($13.25) - Holy cow, this thing is huge. Last time around I got the 1/4 pound and found that I still had an appetite afterwards. I figured, why not go for their special C? After seeing how massive this was... I was certainly wondering if there was any way I could finish it. This burger has three huge patties, each topped with a creamy, melty slice of American Cheese. The patties are juicy with a good beefy flavor, and the burger comes served piping hot. I almost burned my mouth! I got all the toppings, which includes sliced pickles/relish, diced onion, mustard, and ketchup. The condiments ooze everywhere, adding additional moisture, sweetness and tanginess. Don't worry though, this burger is wrapped in paper so that it catches any wayward sauce or pieces of food. There's a crunch and sweet vinegary taste from the sliced pickles, with additional crispness from fresh onion. The diced onion doesn't have a overwhelming pungent bite, which makes the flavor well balanced. It's really the perfect burger, albeit huge. (5/5) Chicken Clyde ($6.50) - I'll start by saying that Clyde's is for burgers, not for chicken sandwiches. That being said, this chicken sandwich is fine for this type of establishment. I'm almost certain the chicken is made commercially, since it appears to be an amalgam of chicken chunks pressed into a uniform breaded patty. It's fried pretty much perfectly, with a good crisp exterior and a moist interior. The sandwich comes with shredded lettuce and mayo to add moisture and fat. It's better than most fried chicken sandwiches from fast food burger places, but not better than chicken sandwiches from fried chicken fast food places. I'll refrain from rating this since it's not really something Clyde's specializes in. We just got it because we wanted something that wasn't a burger (and we didn't see Sizzler on the menu which we would have gotten if we had seen it!). If you don't want the drive-in experience, they do have a small dining room and order counter on the right side of the building. There's also bathrooms located inside. In nicer weather, if you want to sit outside they have picnic tables for use as well. Clyde's really does have some fantastic burgers. If someone was visiting the US from another country and wanted a taste of a massive classic American burger, I would 100% direct them to Clyde's. Note: Cash only! Bring cash! read more

I'd never been to Clyde's but we stopped there for a late dinner on our way up to Marquette recently. Inside was closed in September 2021. I had a bacon cheeseburger - the bacon was crispy and delicious, and the meat was juicy and nicely seasoned. The bun held up and you can choose whatever toppings you want. You can get your burger with as many patties as you want! I thought the quarter pound was perfect. The person taking our order was polite and patient. The menu is big but it's basically burgers, fried food, and a couple other things including pasties and some basket dinners. The onion rings weren't the best (a little soggy, I would prefer a crispy onion ring), but I liked the poppers and the broccoli bites. There was no restroom available when we visited, not even a port a potty. Luckily there are a few gas stations nearby. I liked the burger and would get one again but wouldn't need to stop here every time. read more

Clyde's is traditional Drive-In very similar to the depicted in the movie "Grease". I ordered the buffalo burger basket with cheese. Delicious! The cheese was melted perfectly! The fries are not greasy with just the right amount of crispness. The service was fabulous. Waitress knew exactly when to come get our tray. Of course it would've been better if I had been driving a classic car. Instead all I had was my Silverado. Oh well, a new goal for the next visit. read more

Hey this was a fun place. The only negative was make sure you have cash, no CC taken but they do have a ATM. Burger's rival 5 Guys. Everything was great. Fresh off the griddle is the best way. We come every year, this was our LAST! HORRIBLE service! We are used to waiting because the food is good, BUT when one of the workers is a bitch, nope done! out of 6 hamburgs, 2 were missing and the others were not right (which people picked stuff off or just ate it without something) but when 2 people dont have theirs and an order of onion rings, we would like to eat too. We decided to stop by this local fast food place after checking out their reviews on yelp and Google. It's very close to the town and the interstate so it's easy to drive to. There was plenty of space to pull up and order your food. Within 2 minutes after I pulled up....there was a young lady ready to take our order. It reminds me of Sonic food chain accept they don't have a drive thru service. The food is typically drive thru stuff such as burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, fries, etc. Overall I could see why they have excellent reviews because everything we ordered tasted great and came out very fast. I'd probably choose this restaurant over McDonald's which was right beside it....because their meat looks like real meat. I would recommend this for travelers who want a great option other than seafood, and are pressed for time because their super fast. read more
