The tartar sauce...chef's kiss. The right amount of tang, and it was homemade. Was tempting to just drink the rest of it. Staff were all friendly and the atmosphere was casual. The burger was nice sized and cooked well done, which I like. It came with cheese, lots of pickles, relish, lots of mustard, and just a little ketchup. The hot ham and cheese was okay. I chose white bread rather than rye or wheat. The bread was not special--seemed like white bread you'd buy at any grocery in a plastic wrapper. There's an up-charge for the onion rings. I say skip that and get the fries. For the 2 sandwiches, 1 with fries, one with onion rings, and 2 pieces of pie, my bill was $51.36 before any tip added on. I get that it's a short season up north here, so I expect everything to be a little pricey. If the burger had a bit of char and came on an upscale bun, if the hot ham and cheese came on a thicker toasted bread, I'd say ok. But for what we got, it was overpriced.

I ordered a Diet Pepsi but was served Dr Pepper instead. I assumed it was an honest mistake the first time, but my refill was also Dr Pepper. When I finally mentioned it, I was told that their "Diet Coke" was Dr Pepper, which didn't make any sense since Dr Pepper and Diet Coke are completely different soft drinks. To top it off, our bill was over $60 for food that was average at best. Overall, the service and value just weren't there. I'd recommend saving your money and eating at Darrow's or Pancake Chef instead.

It was busy so took a while for someone to get to our table for drinks. We did talk to someone about our earlier experience and they understood our concerns and passed it along to upper management.

A Recipe for Disappointment I rarely write negative reviews, but this dining experience was so baffling, it almost felt like a dare. From the moment I stepped inside, the restaurant gave off more "neglected bus station" than "cozy local diner." The menu hinted at hearty comforting diner food, but what arrived was an overpriced, under-seasoned letdown. Every bite was a masterclass in missed opportunity. The portions were insultingly small, especially given the price point. And then there were the homefries. If there's a culinary crime worse than serving half-boiled potatoes under the guise of crispy breakfast goodness, I haven't experienced it. These were barely warm, with that unmistakable bite of starch that screams, "We ran out of time, but here you go anyway." It wasn't just bad -- it was a near sin.
