Right off the main highway makes for a convenient stop for food. The place is cozy and the staff was friendly as well. Unfortunately, going to have to drop to three starts for this one due to them forgetting half my order, as well as the dish I got not quite living up to the description or price from the menu. The menu is impressive! I didn't expect choices along the highway. One could order seafood, wraps, dinner entrees, burgers, etc... I had the pasty which was huge, but not doughy, filled with veggies and beef. The gravy was a perfect compliment. Hubby had the turkey club and fries. It was a pretty lively sandwich with seasoned Texas toast. Now for the coleslaw, it was so good we ordered a quart to go. It was perfect. The server was friendly, and helped with our choices. Inn is the perfect word as it serves spirits, but you wouldn't call it a bar. It was a nice respite on our journey to the western part of the UP. read more

Told us it was our fault we came during a rush. Waited 1.5 hours for food. No flavor. We were very patient till the end. We watched them mess up about 4 orders prior to us getting our food. Meat all undercooked...had to go a back in. Waitress was horrible and loud. Called us liars even though we had proof of time we were there. Do not waste your time. Great whitefish! The 2 of us split an order and it was plenty, especially since we saved room for the ginormous, delicious apple dumpling. The sweet potato fries were thin and crispy - best I've ever had. And our server Deb was a hoot. She let us try a local Apple Jalapeno wine (definitely NOT recommended). read more

Stopped in the cut river Inn for a late lunch when in the area. Clean inside. Got seated immediately. Mother's Day so we expected more of a crowd than there was. It was OK. The waitress never came back to check on our table until we were done and needed a box. The pasty was bland. however, the gravy was really good. The rest of the meal was just OK. Not bad, not great, just OK. They currently do not charge for using a credit card, but are going to start in the near future. Probably won't go out of my way to go back here. read more

Loved this place! Stopped in on a whim when in the area from downstate and enjoyed a delicious meal with my family. All of the food was tasty and fresh, and with our party of 4 we tried the whitefish (both fried and broiled), fried perch, whitefish chowder, and whitefish pate. We gobbled it all up, and will definitely be back for more next time we're in town. Stopped in on my way up for the hunting season and glad I did. My group got the nachos as a starter. The plate was massive and easily shareable for 3-4 people. Decided to order lunch to go here. I ordered sandwich with the homemade chips, side of ranch spinach artichoke dip and a diet soda. Food was brought bagged out to me and I paid. Woman told me to have a great day and I told her I think I'm suppose to have a pop. Which she then remembered and got for me. When I got back to my office there was no ranch for the homemade chips. However the chips were GREAT and I dipped them in my spinach dip as the tortilla chips had no seasoning or salt at all on them and were gross anyways. The sandwich was fair. My wife and I like this place a lot. We stop in about twice a month. They put out a nice whitefish dinner that my wife orders almost every time we visit. They have a whitefish chowder that I've enjoyed, and their pasty is one of the best in Michigan. We actually buy extra pasties to take home on most visits. The new owners seem to care about food quality and the place is clean and tidy. There are 3 tap handles behind the bar but this is more of a restaurant than a bar. Learned all I need to when they asked me to leave as they would not allow my Service Dog in with me. I was traveling with someone else who preferred not to wait for the police to arrive and inform them they are required by law to accept Service Dog teams, so we left, but they will be schooled on their responsibility to those of us with Service Dogs. There is no excuse for their ignorance and lawbreaking behaviour. Service Dog teams are everywhere and protected by federal law. You would think they would be happy to learn what they need to accomodate everyone. Instead, they were just unfriendly, confrontational and close-minded. read more

Loved it! The food was excellent, and we got it to go so we could bring it back to our campsite at Garnet Lake. You could have a beach picnic too, since it is just right across the street from Lake Michigan. I didn't go inside, but it didn't look particularly special. read more

This is my 'go to' place for white fish - it is delicious every time. I like my fish grilled but they offer it fried as well. My wife had a pasta dish with chicken. They were very generous with the chicken! An added bonus - Most restaurants in the area are very slow due to lack of staff. Cut River Inn's service remains very good! We will return soon!! read more

Don't even read the other person's 1 star review, I don't know where that person is coming from. The refills are free, the fish fry is all you can eat, and the service is just fine. I think someone just had a bad day overall and decided to take it out on this place. Ok, first let me give you some context for my 5 STAR review..... this place, Epoufette, is a small, very small, little community along the bluffs of Lake Michigan on US 2. So, if you are expecting a high end restaurant....well.... you're an idiot, but if you are looking for a really good place to eat where you can kick back and enjoy a meal and a drink with friends then you have found the right place. The Nacho's weren't super fancy by any means, in fact they were a little small and uneventful... but the Bacon Burger and the onion rings were top notch. Ask for the Chipotle Mayonnaise on the side instead of BBQ sauce and you won't regret it. The bun was excellent as well. Then we had dessert and I had the Apple Dumpling with Ice Cream, and it was completely irresponsible and delicious. It was worth every bite. The prices were reasonable, the two of us had appetizer, dinner, and two desserts for $40 and we both left more than satisfied and neither one of us are small guys at all. They have a full bar, and they have a TV.... it would be nice if they had a few more TV's but the one they had was at least at the bar, which is where it should be. The place is very clean and very professional, and the proprietor took great care in making sure we were pleased with our meal and great pride in the fact that we were impressed with this little spot. I usually go to the place across the street because of the view, but I don't think that will be nearly as easy to do next time now that I know how good the food is at this place. It is a far better restaurant than the one across the street. I don't know what I love about Epoufette that draws me back here, I mean you can't even really get to the water's edge.... maybe it's just the name. My wife and I had the open faced hamburger! Pretty good. Fries were your frozen fries but cooked. Gravy was tasty. We came at 2:30 pm on a Mon at the end of October so place had only a couple people in it. Would I eat here again? My dad is a Yooper so we regularly drive from lower Michigan to Escanaba and we always make a point to stop at Cut River Inn. This place may not have the view the restaurant across the street has, but they more than makeup for it with their food and hospitality. Their whitefish sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. It's everything it should be: golden, flaky, and moist. They keep it simple with just a huge piece of fried fish, bun, lemon, and tartar. The way it should be. I've tried the place across the street (Bay View) and was not impressed. They can't hold a candle to the whitefish at Cut River Inn. Also worth mentioning is that Cut River has jars of jam from Keweenaw available for purchase. read more

Rounding up to a 4, since I'd really give this place a 3.5 (better than "A-OK") We came here in search of whitefish near Naubinway. At the tail end of summer, it was hard to find places even open! While we were eating, they actually closed the restaurant and turned off the lights to half the restaurant... Food: this was the first of much whitefish that we ate during our trip to the UP, and I'd have to say it was probably at the bottom of the list (comparing it with a place in Mackinac Island as well as in Petoskey), but for it's location, it's likely the best thing available. We tried the broiled whitefish, which made the fish skin crispy, if you enjoy eating it. It was flavorful and flaky. The coleslaw here is very creamy - which may be good or bad depending on your opinion! The white fish chowder was tasty but very "grainy" though in consistency, likely due to the break down of potatoes in the soup. Restaurant: it has a bar, the kitchen looked very clean, the seating areas are plentiful, and it's well decorated and well done. Service: friendly enough for us waltzing in around 7:30pm and closing down while we were eating... Overall, we'd definitely return if we wanted white fish and were in Naubinway. read more
